Karyudo had managed to find himself lost in the forest after the chaos that had occurred mere days earlier. The tallest trees around him were humungous. They were at least twice the size of trees you would regularly see in an earth forest. While observing his surroundings he saw few large flowers that opened 4 feet in diameter and were a dull yellow on the outside and a crimson red inside. Other than the flowers he could see nothing else around him but dense forest. As soon as a recognized nothing was around him he fell onto the floor, took his bag off of his shoulders and placed it on his lap. He rummaged through it a bit before closing the bag back up again
“That’s it I’m out of food, only a week and im out”
He tossed his bag to the side and ruffled his hair in frustration. He looked at the flowers to his side and his angry look turned into a smile. The vibrant colors of the plant seemed to have lifted his spirits a little
“Funny how I can appreciate nature even at a time like this”
His smile immediately turned back into a serious look as he leaned over to grab his backpack. He opened it up and this time immediately pulled out a knife. It had a black handle and a silver blade. You could tell there was never a time where this knife was actually used. He just happened to pick it up on his way out when the base was destroyed.
He closed up his bag, got up and instinctively searched his surroundings to make sure nothing was around. After a few seconds of looking he was pretty sure there was nothing in his immediate vicinity other than all the greenery. He put his bag back on his back and held his knife in his right hand. He looked around for a third and final time before continuing through the forest.
He walked through the forest looking up at all the tall trees until he came across one of the smaller ones that hadn’t grown as large yet. It was about 12 feet tall at the least. This tree also happened to have some flowers amongst its regular leaves. The flowers almost seemed to glow a bright blue, Karyudo was less inspired by this as he began to climb the tree.
“I just need one”
Karyudo made it up to the bigger branches of the small tree and pulled himself up, he was now standing within the tree. He cut a smaller branch off the tree with the knife he had brought up with him. His reasoning for this was to test the branches flexibility. Karyudo bent the branch a little bit expecting it to slowly go back into place, however it instead immediately snapped back. Now intrigued by the tree and branch he had chosen he bent the stick into a “C” shape to see if it would break. The stick once again pleasantly surprised Karyudo by not breaking and snapped back into place. He smiled and said in a soft voice
“Perfect for a bow
”
Karyudo ‘s testing was quickly interrupted by a creature running through the forest, it was echoing a high pitched scream. It bumped into the tree quite violently causing him to fly out the tree and onto the plant covered floor, knocking the wind out of him.
Karyudo still hadn’t opened his eyes after being flung from the tree. He moved the fingers of his right hand and still felt the stick he had grabbed from the tree. He did the same with his left hand but did not feel his knife. He found that very disappointing. In the short amount of time he had to see the creature it seemed not to much smaller than the tree he was in. It seemed about 10 feet tall and was quadrupedal. It almost looked like a dinosaur. It was covered in scales, had a beak and a decently long tail. It was almost certainly a large lizard. Of course this didn’t bother Karyudo about as much as what came next.
In the 9 days Karyudo has spent living on his own on this planet he has been relatively safe from predators, which is why what he saw when he opened his eyes was more terrifying than anything he had ever experienced before. A lizard like creature was slowly walking towards his position. You could tell it saw Karyudo by its slow and cautious stride, also by the fact that you could see its reptilian eyes trained on him. It was about 12 feet tall and was revealing its razor sharp teeth on account of its panting. It was walking on two legs unlike the previous reptilian creature that had put him into this situation. It had various spikes coming off from the top of its head and back.
“Oh”
Karyudo quickly scrambled to his feet. The creature stopped in its tracks because of the sudden movement, it stared at Karyudo as if to see if it he could be any type of threat,. It cocked its head at him then let out a defining scream before sprinting at him.
“Shit”

Julia was walking through the forest eating an apple like fruit he had found in the forest. She knew that it was edible due to her c7 survival training. Even though she was perfectly capable of killing animals for food she’d much rather leave the beasts alone. What am I going to do now? She had never really thought about how her life on this planet would go now that there is no more organized civilization. How many were left on this planet? How many survive each passing day? These were a few of the many questions that raced through her head.
The forest was shaded in most areas, though there where spots where the leaves were either moved or simply grew in a way that let spots of sunlight in. They were all quite beautiful to Julia, there was even a point where she stepped into a sun spot and with her eyes closed tilted her head up towards the sky, embracing the sunlight.
Julia felt weighed down, there was a long rod with two ends that looked somewhat like grappling hooks that extended beyond the width of her body. She had on her right side a sheath that held a sword within and hanging off to her left side a bag that held various materials. She had not always been alone in the forest. She was out gathering information when the base was destroyed. Her team of four was brought down to one do to a single enormous predator. She had only figured out the base was destroyed 3 days after it happened. She came back preparing to deliver bad news only to find more bad news. Training taught her to be tough in the worst of times, but nothing could have prepared her for this. She searched the ruble but found nothing, most of what had been the base had been washed out to sea. With no one to be found she decided to search for people in the nearby forest.
Suddenly there was a weird screeching noise in front of her. She knew what animal made this sound as well. Phylogus? She immediately opened her eyes to see almost 12 foot tall lizard like creature come rushing at her. Indeed a Phylogus she sidestepped to let it go by before immediately looking into the forest behind it. there has to be something chasing after it right? She waited a few seconds and saw nothing in pursuit.
“What the heck”
She ran forward and not soon after pushing a bush blocking her vision she saw a man standing in front of a

“Shit”
She happened to say shit in unison with the other man. This might have been funny in any other occasion but this was no laughing matter, she knew this creature all too well it was called a “raven”. The minute it started to run she pulled the staff off her back and struck it into the floor. The other end had a spear head like structure which she fired off at the raven. The spear head went in-between two of the ravens frill spikes before opening up into a claw like shape, which managed to latch onto the creature. The part of the staff that was in the ground made a thumping noise before the cord connecting the claw and the staff began to pull back into to the staff. This sudden pull forced the creature to fall onto the ground head first. The creature braced itself by pulling its head up and letting its body take the entirety of the fall

Juilia

Success Julia pressed a button on her rod that released the hook from the monster just as it lost its balance. She ran at it leaving the rod protruding from the floor. As she ran she reached into her bag and pulled out a large syringe with a cap over the needle. The creature attempted to get up before Julia vaulted of the frills on its head an landed on its neck.
“Lets do this big guy”
Julia bit off the cap of th syringe and spit it on the floor. The Raven managed to get up right at this moment causing Julia to lose her balance and let go of the syringe. It went up into the air and did a spin unto Julia managed to catch it again right side up before turning it back around and jamming it into the monsters neck.
The raven responded by shaking its head around in anger and confusion but within a few seconds it began to calm down. It fell to the floor in a very soft manner as if in its last few seconds of consciousness it wanted to make sure it had a nice landing. Julia pulled the syringe out, got up and then put it into her bag. Julia looked down at the raven with a sort of sad look on her eye Hope I didn’t hurt the guybefore looking back up at Karyudo with a more serious look on her face.
“We have to go, Ravens hunt in packs”
She ran and grabbed Karyudo by the hand before quickyly pressing abutton on her staff (ejecting it from the ground) before running into the forest.
Karyudo

Karyudo stared in awe as the new mystery woman took down the 12 foot beast. Was this a recue party? She seemed oddly prepared. After the Raven fell to the floor Karyudo said
“Woah, that was
”
“We have to go Ravens hunt in packs”
Karyudo was quickly interrupted. Ravens? He didn’t have time to really asses the situation before being pulled off into the forest with Julia

Karyudo

Julia led Karyudo to the ending of a stream. It formed a nice pond, a patch of light managed to shine right on the center of the pond making the pool shine a beautiful blue. He was mesmerized by it for a while until he realized My knife! he began to pat himself down until figuring that he had dropped it. He did this again on account of the stick he had lost. And there goes my bow. Karyudo didnt feel as bad in loosing these two items since he knew that even with those materials he wouldn't have been able to face down that creature like Julia did.
“Hey that was awesome
”
Julia didn’t respond, she seemed to be looking at something else across the way. Karyudo walked up towards Julia.
“Whacha you lookin
ohhh”
Over on the other side of the pond were two indistinguishable bodies. From the distance you could only tell that whatever the creature was, it was quadrapedal. You could also tell that one of the creatures skull had been cracked open. This sight sent shivers down Karyudo’s Spine
Julia

It wasn’t enough that Julia had to put that Raven Unconscious but now she has to deal with the sight of the bloody mess on the other side of the pond. At first she was disgusted, and then she was intrigued in a way ‘There is no creature that would skin another?’ She walked up to the bodies to get a closer look. The stench was unbearable. I have to hurry up, this is bound to attract predators soon Julia recognized the carcasses as something more along the lines of a canine class predator. One of the skulls seemed to be cracked open by means of tooth or claw so at first Julia thought that maybe and animal came after a human had killed one at scavenged its brains. Or maybe a human came along and skinned a brainless predator.
This thought was thrown out the window the minute she saw the second skull. This one seemed to be more cleanly cut open. No animal could have done anything like this. Why would a human cut out the brain of this poor creature. She looked back up at Karyudo
“We have to go, these bodies will attract more predators”
They began to tread back into the forest

Julia

Julia was always used to being out in the woods. She had been trained to be out for weeks at a time. During her routine outings into the wilds she would find many beautiful things and mark it in her journal, one of those being a wonderful grotto. The ceiling always let in rays of light through its cracks and the bigger creatures instinctively stood away from such a structure in fear of falling through any fragile footing. Predators hardly ever came into this grotto. It was a place where the other animal relatively lived in peace from the rest of the predators. She never knew the reason why the predators seemed to be repelled by it, but she had now capitalized on that fact by making it her “base” of sorts.
“I have a place where we can stop for a moment”
She was leading Karyudo to that very place, her “base”. She didn’t bother to ask him anything during the walk. She believed any questions or conversation could be saved for when they are out of the line of fire. She knew that the other Ravens would still be close. Even though there were bodies that could take their attention for a while she didn’t believe that a pack of Ravens would be stopped by two carcasses for very long.
She sped up her pace with every passing moment; though she never ran there would be times where she would jog for a few seconds before back down to a fast paced walk. She didn’t do this because she was afraid for her safety however, she did this because she felt an urgency so. She could merely describe the urgency as wanting to get out of the Ravens way, even though she could easily avoid such a predator and she always had loved to observe any organism. She then attributed this feeling of urgency due to the fact that Karyudo would be a hindrance to any type of observing she would do. Though the true reason she had this sense of urgency is because even though she didn’t consciously feel this, she was alone.Julia had finally found someone after five days of being alone. This urgency was truly brought about by her unconscious want to keep Karyudo as safe as possible.
They finally reached the entrance of the Grove, There was a large hole to the grove though most of it was covered in shrubbery so what could have been a 10 foot entrance ended up only being a 4 foot tall hole. Julia went into the hole head first with a type of movement that said “I know exactly what was here and what will be here”. She brushed against some of the branches from above as she went in, something that she had usually avoided, however this time was different
she had someone with her.
