Nathaniel is a man of many layers, but the vast majority will only ever see his outermost: that of a quiet, sombre, unenthusiastic but diligent worker for his alien master, Nero. His relationship with his master is complex: Nero does not see the humans he commands as peers or even sympathetic beings, but rather values them solely based on their usefulness as tools for him. However, among his humans he holds Nathaniel in rather high regard, and those he regards highly he usually gives the treatment he thinks they will require to ensure their loyalty and good performance. Although Nathaniel would likely not require good treatment to do his job, since the invasion Nero's favour has been the only kindness he's known, and thus his attachment to his master is deeper than simple duty. However, his humanity goes deeper still.
For the purpose of hunting down and capturing the singer Morgana, Nero has outfitted Nathaniel with two rather unique artifacts built of alien technology. The first is very subtle. Taking the form of a simple transparent contact lens, and fitting over his right eye, the Orrore uses high-frequency light strobes to paralyse its target. Requiring Nathaniel to make eye contact with the desired object of its effects, the Orrore can then be instantaneously thought-activated, at which point the one looking into Nathaniel's eyes enters a state of inescapable muscular paralysis. Extended exposure (five minutes or more) can have adverse effects on the target's health, including seizures. When in use, the Orrore makes Nathaniel's pupil appear scarlet.
The second, Amore, appears to be a simple black fabric glove that fits over his right hand. Using his body's own muscle system as a base, the experimental glove uses advanced nanotechnology to powerfully augment his hand's muscle tissues. When wearing it, as Nathaniel must always do, the muscles of his hand have both the tensile strength of steel rope and all the squeezing power of a car crusher, focused down to four fingers and a thumb. Nathaniel is not yet fully adept at controlling his strength, however, and thus for the extent of his mission he has taken to doing most things with his left hand.
He also carries a simple old-fashioned semi-automatic projectile gun. For security reasons.
