In, out, in, out. Rayne counted each breathe, as she silently stood at the thick cement wall in front of her. She lay on the thin pathetic cloth that they called a mattress. Shifting slightly to get more comfortable, she brushed her blonde, tangled, grungy bangs out from in front of her blue eyes. She had been locked in here for... She couldn't even remember, it had been so long since she had seen the sun, or felt its warm rays touch her soft skin. She sighed, and closed her eyes imagining what she would be doing if she were still free. Maybe, she'd be going to college, or working an nine to five job, renting to own a beautiful house.

Suddenly, bright light flooded the room, and before her eyes could adjust, she felt them grab her, and yank her up and drag her out of the cell. Her eyes finally adjusted as the threw her against the wall, a moan of pain escaping her lips, as her skull cracked against the cement and they tightened handcuffs around her wrists. She felt warm ooze down the side of her face, she didn't doubt it to be blood. The guard grabbed her by the arm and began walking. She looked him over, he was sullen, scars over his arms and one deep one down his face. As she studied him further, with quick glimpses, she realized he only had one eye. She wondered how he had lost it, but the thought quickly left, when she realized she didn't care. His grip tightened on her grungy arm, as they turned a corner, the halls were, she figured thick cement, but they were painted a bright white, unlike the dull grey that was in their cells.

Finally, they stopped in front of a door. The guard knocked sullenly, and a scientist opened it and looked Rayne over with a satisfied look, and stepped back, as the guard pushed her in. She landed shoulder first onto the cold concrete, her arms straining against the metal shackles, as she made an attempt to roll over, which failed. She heard the door shut, and the click of various locks, as the scientists undid the handcuffs and began flipping through the paperwork on their clipboard.
"Patient #00199. Shape-shifting abilities have been noted, not as significant as others... Seems to be more intelligent than the majority of the others, solving the puzzles 20.12 seconds faster.... " The scientist drifted off the conversation and opened a door.
Rayne stood and watched, until she was shoved into the room, and the door shut and locked behind her.

"Solve the maze as fast as you can. Don't worry if you can't find the willpower to keep running... We have incentives to make sure you keep going" A loud voice boomed through the hall she was in, followed by laughing. Sweat beaded her forehead, not sure what they had meant. "3, 2, 1" A robotic voice counted down, at the end a loud buzzer sounded, and Rayne began running. Left, Right, Straight, left. She ran for what seemed like over an hour, she began to slow, unable to keep running. As she began to walk, sharp electric currents burned the bottom of her bare feet prompting her to keep running. More lefts, and more rights, he lungs burned and cried for air, her muscles felt like collapsing, finally, she saw the end, and ran through the door, collapsing at the feet of the scientists, who wrote frantically on their clipboards. They forced her to stand, and this was her only favorite part of being tested.

They made her stand above a drain, she held out her hand and they squirted a dime size of soap; into her hand. Above her a sprayer began with ice cold water and she washed as quickly and thoroughly as she could in the three minutes they gave her. She looked at her arms as she walked down the hall, still dripping wet, dirt was still dripping off with every water droplet. She was beyond exhausted, the guard was maintaining most of her frail body as they walked. She waited for the guard to unlock the door, and stepped inside quietly. As soon as he unshackled her, she dropped to the floor, unable to move from the spot, and moaned in pain before being encompassed in the darkness of her own subconscious.

Xalanth was staring into the ceiling of his cell from where he laid. Heavily sedated from the weird pills all the prisoners were given each day. His mind was hazy and he felt uncomfortably tired, more so than normal. He had been one of the 'lucky 20' this morning and whenever that happens, Xal gets drugged up more than usual.
After a certain incident a few months back, the scientists had not doubled.. No.. They had tripled the dosage to keep him down, docile and somewhat 'willing' to go through the experiments. No resistance, just obedient and even submissive due to the drugs. The scientists had been surprised at his reaction to the dosage, but had also found it slightly amusing. If he did well, they'd sometimes caress his face or scratch him behind the ears which made him purr. But all that ended once they were done experimenting and he would be escorted back to his cell, in a much less gentle manner.

Now he was laying there on his mattress, waiting for the heavy haze of the sedative drugs to wear off. While trying to remember what day it was. "At least I wasn't escorted back and forth by Walker.." he mumbled to himself with a slight chuckle vibrating from deep within his chest. Thinking of the almost 7 feet tall, buff guard who had taken an interest in Xal. A sexual interest.. The Emperor smirked sickly at the thought. If the circumstances had been different..
