Ashley looked at him with big eyes as he pulled her up, gasping as he kissed her. She kissed him back soon after, and her grip on him tightened. She loved him with all her heart, and no stupid job would get in the way of that. She wouldn't let it.
She felt her back curve to him, and chills run up her spine. Sighing into another kiss, she smiled. A small, shy smile, that made her look happy.

Spencer looked down at Ashley, a smile on his lips at the sight of hers. "I never should have left yesterday. I should have stayed and gone on that carriage ride with you. I'm sorry," He said, kissing her softly once more. "If you want, I could go to Benye's for you now." He offered, remembering he'd promised to get her some yesterday, but never got the chance with everything that happened.

"Shh... Just.. Stay with me. Just don't ever let go." She smiled softly, and touched their noses looking in to his eyes briefly before looking down and closing her eyes, closing the gap between them. Damn, he was such a good kisser. She kissed his lips once more, but now with more effort, and a cleaner face. "We'll go to Benye's as husband and wife. " She chuckled.
Spencer smiled against Ashley's lips as he kissed her once more, one hand on her back the other on the back of her neck, holding her close to him. He was really looking forward to their wedding, he couldn't wait for the day that Ashley was his wife. Their kiss was interrupted when his cellphone started to ring again. "The captain has been on me, wanting me to help catch this guy again. Right now, I need to be with you. Someone else can catch the bad guy for once." He said with a shake of his head. Sure, he wanted revenge on the guy for what he'd done to Ashley, but she had to come first.

"Thank God you're finally spending tome with me." She sighed, and pulled back. "What do you want me to do? Praise you for the men you caught when you missed almost every thing about planning our wedding? I should make you RSVP just to make sure you're there." Ashley rubbed her forehead, and sat on the end of the couch. "Let me just replan our whole wedding felt a different day then, since I guess you're not going to make it the day after tomorrow. It's a Saturday, but hey, you'll get an 'unexpected call in to work again." She rolled her eyes. "I'll just marry myself." It seemed as if every negative thought she ever thought came spilling out of her mouth. She sighed rubbing her head, and curled up, burying her face in her hands.
Spencer frowned deeply at Ashley's words. "What do you want me to do, Ashley? Do you want me to quit my job?" He asked, running a hand over his eyes as his phone stopped ringing, going to voicemail. "I mean, it's not like I'm just leaving because I want to. I'm making a difference, I'm saving people's lives. Maybe not directly, but if someone doesn't stop these guys, they'll just keep doing what their doing." He said, shaking his head. "You make it sound like I'm a bad guy or something, but I'm doing my best Ashley," He ranted, doing his best not to get upset, knowing one of them has to stay calm.

"Talk about married to your work? Uh, spencer. I'm saying that I don't want this thing called love between us to die out after the honeymoon as I hear so often of. Yes, you are making in difference in people's lives. But maybe you can get a regular police officer job, and we can actually maybe have a fucking family. You know I want one, so I don't even see why I have to tell you. I mean, " she paused. "It's not like your my future husband or anything, right?" She sighed again. "And on another note, I don't want to be shot by some asshole you just looked at wrong. He may have just shot my leg this time, but I would get that speech for my funeral ready, because it doesn't look like Momma's staying for long at this rate. "
Spencer's frown deepened. "Don't even say that." He shook his head, not wanting to think about losing Ashley that way, he'd rather it be him who was killed than her. "I didn't know he was loose, if I had I wouldn't have left you. I would have stayed right by your side and protected you." He said, reaching out and taking a hold of her hands. "I'll do anything for you, you know that. So, if you want me to quit and become a regular cop I will, for you." He said, looking her in the eyes.

"You make me seem like a bitch sometimes. You know that?" She frowned, teary-eyes. " I don't want you to quit what you love to do for me. " she shook her heD. "I don't know what I want. Okay? I don't know anything." She sighed, crying a little, and letting go of his hands, and curling up in the corner of the sofa with her shot leg stretched out.
Spencer sighed quietly at Ashley's words, not sure what to do to make this better. He hates seeing her cry. He slowly walked over and sat down beside her, gently rubbing her back. "Ashley, please don't cry." He murmured quietly, gently pushing her hair out of her face and tucking it behind her ear. "There is one thing I know for sure. I love you, with all my heart. And the day you become my wife will be one of the happiest days of my life." He said, leaning down and kissing her cheek.

"What are the other happiest days of your life?" Ashley asked cautiously, and put her head on his chest, breathing in his all too familiar scent. She loved his smell, it was so masculine. She wiped her eyes, and played with his hand he had wrapped around her. She put her hand in his, looking at the nice engagement ring he'd gotten her. Sometimes she wished she could relive that day. Just to remember all her feelings.
Spencer looked down at Ashley at her question, a small smile tugging on his lips. "The day I first met you." He said quietly, kissing her softly on the lips. "And when we have kids, those too will be extremely happy days." He murmured quietly against her lips, stroking her cheek gently.

Ashley closed her eyes, her heart racing as he did this. "The day we first met... Was odd, but I see it worked itself out." She smiled, and pulled him up to her, and kissed him softly.

He continued to kiss her until there was a knock on the door. Spencer pulled back slowly, glancing toward the door, then back to Ashley. "You're not expecting anyone are you?" He asked, though he doubted she was. He slowly got to his feet and went to the door, looking through the peephole he didn't see anyone. A frown tugged on his lips as he slowly unlocked and opened the door, seeing an unmarked package sitting in front of their door his heart dropped.
"Stay there," Spencer said to Ashley, not wanting her to get close to the package since he doesn't know what it is or who it came from. He knelt down, pulled out a pocket knife and very carefully cut the tape holding the box closed. Spencer held his breath as he opened the package, breathing a sigh of relief to see the box was nearly empty, just holding a piece of paper and a picture. He picked up the photo and looked at it, his heart clutching in his chest. It was a picture of him and Ashley asleep on the hospital bed. 'He was there. He could have killed us both, he thought, his blood running cold as he slowly unfolded the piece of paper. 'If I were you, I'd sleep with one eye open. Your days are numbered.' The paper read.

"Spencer?" Ashley asked in confusion, wondering if she had done something, but sighed. She started to get up, but decided not to and laid back, examining his face as he came back in with a paper. She frowned seeing it, and realizing she probably did safe their lives by waking up so suddenly. Rubbing her temple, she closed her eyes, and laid back on the couch. "Like I said... Get my will ready." It was meant to be more of a joke, but failed.
Spencer sat back down next to Ashley, a deep frown on his lips. Normally, he'd call his boss in an instance like this so they could fingerprint the box and it's contents, but Spencer already knew who it was from so there was no point in that. He glanced at Ashley as she spoke up. "I won't let that happen." He said, his voice gruff, clearly worried. He put the picture and the letter back into the box, staring at it as he tried to figure out what to do. They weren't safe here, he knew where they lived. He put his head in his hands he tried to think. "You think your parents would let you stay with them for a while?" He asked, not looking at her. He wanted her to be safe, and right now, the safest place for her was far away from here.

"Yeah, as long as you come." Ashley's eyes grew wide, and she hugged Spencer from behind. "We're a couple. I'm not supposed to be that far away from you." She frowned and put her head on his back, kissing his neck.
Spencer bit his lip gently, debating. He wanted to help hunt down the man who was terrorizing him and his fiance, but he also wanted Ashley to be safe and it was clear she wouldn't leave with out him. Finally, he sighed quietly and nodded his head. "Alright, I'll come with you." He said, turning to wrap his arms around Ashley, hugging her tightly and kissing the top of her head. "The sooner we get going the better." He said after a few moments, pulling away from Ashley to get to his feet and head into the bedroom to pack their suitcases.

Ashley kissed him swiftly before luggin out her luggage and packing. She then called her parents and confirmed their stay for as long as they needed.
Less than an hour later, Spencer was loading their luggage into the back seat and trunk of his car. Once the car was loaded up, he helped Ashley into the passenger seat. He went around, got behind the wheel and pulled away from the house. As he drove through town, he kept checking his review mirror to make sure they weren't being followed, he couldn't be too careful, not when Ashley's life was in danger. He reached over and took a hold of his fiance's hand as he got on the interstate and headed toward Ashley's parents' place.

Ashley leaned back in her seat, squeezing his hand. "It's going to be a long ride." She sighed as he went on to the interstate. Nearly three hours later, they got off on Ashley's parent's exit. "You remember the way, baby?" She asked sleepily, from staying up with him the whole way.
Spencer nodded his head at Ashley's question. "Yeah, I remember." He said with a small smile. A little while later, they arrived at Ashley's parents' house and Spencer got out. He helped Ashley out before getting their luggage out, letting her lead the way up to the house.

Ashley now walked with a slight limp and went up to the door. As usual, her mom nearly tackled her in a hug, as her dated watched Spencer with disapproving eyes. Ashley's mother state at home and sewed for an online business she ran with her sewing friend, janet, called "Janet & Jenny's Sewing Shop". Ashley's father, Michael, was a police captain of the division downtown. He said he wasn't quitting until he breathed his last breath.
Mike, went over and helped Spencer with the luggage, as Ashley and her mother went and re-bandaged her leg. "Are you ready for the wedding, son?" He asked in his usual gruff tone, his arms crossed in front of him, and stared blankly.

Spencer followed Ashley into the house, greeting her parents before her mom took her away to bandage her leg back up. He glanced at her father, a small smile on his lips. "Yes sir, beyond ready." He said. He was kind of nervous about the whole ceremony, but he didn't have any doubts about what he wanted, he couldn't wait until Ashley was his wife.

"Well, let's get you two to bed. It's nearly 10 o'clock, and I'm sure you're exhausted." Jenny piped in as Ashley wobbled behind her, her leg a little thickly bandaged. She sighed, and looked to Spencer, then kissed her parents good night. "We know where our room is, mom." She chuckled, and her mother nodded, going to bed herself. Mike helped them with their luggage, shutting the door behind him as he left.
Ashley immediately sat in the middle of the bed, her legs hanging off, and laying on her back. "At least we didn't get asked a bazillion questions as usual... Maybe they think we're stressed enough with a wedding practically tomorrow." She sighed, closing her eyes, and covering her eyes with her arm.
