Image"Y-Yamato, sir," Tomaya called hesitantly, her voice soft and slightly weary. Yamato turned enough to see her bow and pull up a chair. "I-I've come to inspect you for your morning check-up," she said quietly, but just loudly enough for her voice to carry. "First, would it be alright if I took your temperature?"

Yamato simply sat up in response to her question. Taking the thermometer from her hands, he put it under his tongue and waited for the signature beep before handing it back to her. Miyako and Tomaya were the closest members of the zodiac to Yamato, but Tomaya was his personal toy in a much different way than Miyako. He just tortured Miyako's mental well-being. But he could do as he pleased with Tomaya. She was much easier to manipulate in a way. She actually pitied him enough to sleep with him. He doubted Miyako was that stupid.

"Doing this daily is purely idiotic. If I need a check up, I would say it." A small cough escaped Yamato's lips, but he covered it with a slightly larger cough to appear as if he was simply clearing his throat. He glared at the girl. "Shouldn't you dress more appropriately in my presence. You should stop getting used to dressing like a whore and be more conservative. I'm sure the others in the family enjoy you looking like that though ... Those good for nothing ..." Yamato threw his pillow across the room as he cursed, "Those good for nothing pieces of shit!"

His anger threw him into a bit of a coughing fit. Yamato sat hunched over until the coughing stopped. "I wish everyone would die..."

Everyone but Tamaki and me.

Ren stared in shock as Akihiko yelled at Turi. Sure, Ren had seen Aki mad hundreds of times before, but it still never ceased to surprise him how hostile she could be when the pink haired girl was always so sweet to him. Ren felt himself frown as he watched the scene unfold before him. Ren should be the one that stood up for Aki, not the other way around! Ren sighed he was a sorry excuse of a man (well as much of a man as a 15 year-old can be). Ren flinched a little at the harsh words spewing from his best friends mouth, he'd have to remember to make her put money in the cussing jar after school was finished.

Seeing Akihiko shove her umbrella into Turi's hands and stock towards the car, Ren felt relief at knowing it was over. As the girl pulled Ren into the car he felt himself glance over at his now soaking friend. "Hey, don't push yourself okay?" she said quietly, her eyes holding his. "If you aren't happy, than you can tell me. Don't push yourself to put on a happy face. I know you well enough to know when you're lying and when you're upset. So don't pretend around me, okay Renny?" A small smile lifted Ren's lip as he nodded.

Reaching down, Ren rummaged through his school bag until he found what he was looking for. Pulling out the jacket Ren'd packed incase he got cold, he turned to Akihiko and grinned. "Enough worrying about me! Your the one who always gets sick, look at you all soaking wet! Now if you come down with a cold, I'll be the one making the soup, and we both know what a horrible cook I am!" Chuckling a bit, Ren reached over and used his jacket to dry his friend's hair. Wrapping his jacket around Aki's shoulders when he was down, Ren reached up and pulled his hat he'd been wearing off, shaking out his wet hair in the process. Pulling the hat over his friend's head, he chuckled as he pulled it down all the way over her eyes.

Taking Aki's hands in his own, he rubbed them together to bring the warmth back to their fingertips as he listened to the older Sohma's lecture to Akihiko. It was his turn to stand up for her, "It's really not her fault. It's mine for provoking Turi, Akihiko was just being a good friend..." Looking over at his friend he smiled, "Maybe to good a friend," he added with a chuckle.

Ren's eye's widened as he looked at the older woman sitting in the drivers seat, "Oh! I almost forgot! Thanks for the ride, and sorry for getting your backseat all wet...if you'd like I can clean your car for you after school's finished." Smiling at the woman through the rearview mirror, Ren still unconsciously grasped Aki's hands in his own.

Surprisingly, through the sound of pouring rain, Kaze heard a faint sneeze come from a bit away. Glancing around the area, the only other body that he saw aside from Turi and himself was another female standing under an overhang, face buried in a book. He squinted his eyes, trying to identify the person, before recognizing the sort of... perfection air around her, Miyako. He figured the sneeze had to have come from her and, and just his luck, he was definitely in a joking mood. "Turi, I'm gonna borrow this. Don't go anywhere, you'll probably like what I'm about to do." He said, taking Turi's umbrella and holding it up alongside his, getting both as wet with rain as possible.

Satisfied with the amount of water that had collected on the umbrellas, Kaze snuck his way over to Miyako in a similar fashion as he had with Turi. When he was in arms distance from the rat, Kaze abruptly yanked the book out of her hands and swiped the wet umbrellas, both in one hand, across her face. "HIYA, MIYAKO!" He exclaimed in a booming voice. "Hold on, I have someone who wants to meet you." He returned back to where he had left Turi in the rain and gave her back her umbrella. He then grabbed her wrist and brought her over to the overhang where the rain wouldn't be pouring on them.

"Well, y'see here, Miyako. This one actually really, really likes you." Kaze said, grinning all the while. "She just has trouble being honest with her emotions, y'see. So I think that yous should give her a chance and go with her on a date and all that fun stuff!" As he finished his piece, he made sure to take a few steps back so he couldmake a run for it if need be.

Of all things to happen she didn't expect the monkey to appear out of no where and wipe his wet umbrella across her face. A loud yelp that could of been mistaken for someone dying escaped her lips and she jumped back. The umbrella that had been shoved into her almost hit Kaze in the face as she flailed. She wished it had.'T-the hell?!'

Then something even more unexpected happend. The Tiger drive up to her and offered her a ride home after work. Her! She stared in disbelief as the woman drove off. What the hell was going on today? Did every member of her family want to show up?

The gods must of hated Turi more then usual today because Miyako, the rat showed up. Her eyes harden and she didn't even hear Kaze talk. Next thing she knew both her and the Rat where being dragged to an overhang. Once she was out of the horrid rain she yanked her arm away from Kaze. 'The hell are you going on about chimp? A date?!' The slightest bit of pink crossed Turi's cheek but her glare at both Sohma's was deadly as ever.

ImageMiyako was beginning to think she had actually gotten away with being unseen. That is until a booming voice greeted her and promptly smeared a wet umbrella across her face after removing her book from her hands. She squeaked in response.

"Hold on, I have someone who wants to meet you." Miyako automatically went into family mode, making herself look as unemotional as possible. "Well, y'see here, Miyako. This one actually really, really likes you." Kaze said, grinning all the while. "She just has trouble being honest with her emotions, y'see. So I think that yous should give her a chance and go with her on a date and all that fun stuff!"

Miyako could barely think, her hands were shaking and her heart was beating one hundred miles an hour. "You know Kaze," she started with a slight shakiness in her voice. "It's ignorant of you to even believe the rat and the cat will ever ..." Miyako choked up. She had to bit her lip to stop it from shaking and blink furiously to clear her tears. "I have to go to class. And Kaze ... you shouldn't step on people and toy with their feelings." Her voice broke on the very last word as tears started to roll of her cheeks. She made a mad dash, despite the rain, towards her school and away from the two Sohma's. Once she was a good distance away from the two she paused again, turning to face them. It was clear she was furious that not only had Kaze made her cry, but he had probably ruined Turi's day just as much, maybe made Turi hate Miyako even more.

"You're ...," she started quietly. "You're such an asshole! I hate you!" Miyako turned and continued to run to her school.

Miyako entered the building, eyes sore and she was soaked to the bone. She just sat in the main entrance, not wanting to track water wherever she went. As footsteps approached her, Miyako looked up to meet the eyes of the girl she had texted earlier.

"Miyako! You're soaked! When you didn't show up for class I started to worry. Have you been crying?" Miyako smiled up at her friend.

"No no, just think I might have caught a cold from the rain ..." As if to confirm it, she sneezed lightly into her wet sleeve.

"Let's go to the locker rooms! They have a dryer and you can borrow my track suit while your clothes are drying." Miyako's smiled softened slightly, nodding in agreement.

"Thank you so much."

"Never betray who you truly are, just to please another."

Tomaya grimaced slightly. She wouldn't deny this his words stung, but she really wasn't dressed very scantily - at all. She wore slippers, a bag t-shirt, flannel pajama bottoms, and a robe to top it off. Granted,s he didn't look very professional, but she looked nothing like a whore.

Not that she could argue his insult; He was God after all.

Shaking her head, sh bowed it for a moment. "I apologize for my lack of dress. I was simply in a hurry to catch you before you fell asleep, sir," she explained, raising her head slightly.

She accepted the thermometer and glanced over it. As she studied it, she studied him also, over the top of it.

She didn't pity him. Maybe she had at one point in her life, but that had disappeared when she was very little. While the rest of the Zodiac members had stayed far away from him, she had, as always, been curious. Curious of the young boy in the room, left all alone and sick, who was supposedly their 'Master'.

It had started out with her leaving him the candy that she would buy with her meager allowance. After that, it slowly began a stairwell climb. First it reached her introducing herself. Then she began to joke with him. Following that, she read him stories and poetry, some of which were her own work.

Two years flew by before she even met him face-to-face, instead of speaking through a tiny window. When she saw how ill and frail he was, it broke her heart.

Here was the person who was supposed to be the most cruel member of the Sohma family, and yet he couldn't even leave his own bedroom.

It was Yamato who first inspired her to go into doctoring. She graduated from high school a full two years before everyone else her age, went into medical school and had earned her degree, making her one of the youngest people - and women - to ever become a licensed doctor.

She supposed Yamato hated for that. She had visited him less and less as school grew more serious for her, but she still came at least every other day. Besides, he had his brother, so she had felt that there was nothing to worry about.

Her family died when she was seventeen, far before they could see her success, leaving her the sole survivor of her family and the accident they were in. She was in coma for three and a half months. When she had awakened, it was to find that many things had changed - especially Yamato.

He had become cruel, harsh, and cold - the true stereotype of the Sohma Zodiac God. When she returned from the hospital a month after awakening, he was furious with her for leaving, despite the fact that she had no control over it.

Tomaya was certain that he still hadn't forgiven her for it.

Lowering the thermometer, she cleaned and returned it to her bag, exchanging it for a stethoscope.

"You're running a slight fever of 100.4 degrees. If it gets any higher, I'm going to have to give you medication, so please, just stay in bed and-"

The sudden shout from Yamato caused her to flinch, startling her immensely. After a moment, she relaxed a bit, moving her hand out to lightly place it on his back as he shook with his coughing fit.

"Yamato ... I know that life has been difficult, and that we haven't been on the best of terms the past few years, but ... I still care about you, whether you believe it or not," she said softly. Reaching behind her and into her bag, she withdrew a bottle of water and held it out to him. "Here, drink some," she ordered, placing it in his lap.

Gripping her stethoscope, she raised the back of his shirt and breathed on the cold metal to warm it, before placing it against his skin.

"You don't hate them and you don't want them to die. You hate how they view you - what they think of you," she said, moving the stethoscope across his back. "Inhale deeply and then exhale. Cough for me, too."

"If it's any consolation, your brother and I don't think badly of you, nor do we look at you in a terrible way. We both love and care for you."

"I understand that you're upset with the world - each and everyone one of us are, because in a way, we've all been cheated. You more than the others, perhaps, but still ..."

Lowering the stethoscope and fixing his shirt, she returned to her bag and removed her audioscope before leaning back over to him.

"Hold still, please. I don't want to accidentally stab your ear drum," she joked, clicking the light on the scope. Pushing his hair back, she peered inside his ear for several moments.

Pulling away, Tomaya removed a folder form her bag, flipped it open to a page, and clicked open a pen. As she began to write some data down, she spoke again.

"Your ear looks fine, so you aren't getting an infection. I do believe that, with your cough and the fluid I could hear in your lungs, you have a mild case of pneumonia. However, with how poor your immune system is, it could escalate quickly and terribly. I'm going to put you on antibiotics, cough medication, and an inhaler," she explained. Setting the folder to the side, she removed a Popsicle stick from a package in her bag, along with a small flashlight.

"Stick out your tongue and say 'ahhh'."

Shining the light into his throat and placing the stick on his tongue, she nodded once before pulling away and tossing the stick into the trash. With her back turned to him, she plucked the folder back up and began to scribble some notes.

"Your throat is just a bit irritated from the coughing, so I'm also going to give you some cough medicine to soothe the ache in it. Is that alright with you, Yamato?" she asked, her back still turned.

"Life is funny, isn't it? And when I hear laughter ... I see yellow. The color of happiness."

Casting a smirk over he shoulder at Gengaku, Callista opened the front door.

"You know that I find pants constricting. Without them, I can actually sleep. Which is why I don't wear them to bed," she said, as if it were a normal thing for girls to go half-naked while sleeping in a house with a man who was nearly a decade older than she was.

"Besides, you and I both know that your perverted nature is being put to the test right now. 'Does he dare defile a woman so much younger than he? Is he truly a cradle robber like everyone says? Will he give into his sexual fantasies and tie her to his bed with ropes and chains?'" she joked as they climbed into the little Honda. Snapping on her seat belt and starting the car, she flipped on the American artist Lindsey Stirling, immediately filling the car with electronic, dub-step violin.

They rode in silence the entire way to her little shop. The police were still taking care of the accident that had occurred, so they were forced to take a detour and loop around the entire block.

Parking behind the building, Callista climbed from the car, turning it off as she moved. She flipped through her key chain until she reached the shiny silver key that went to the restaurant's back door.

"Alright, first we have to put the bread into the prepping oven. While it's rising, we need to," the door popped open as she was speaking, and she walked through without pausing, "Prepare muffin mix for ten dozen muffins, doughnut batter for twenty dozen doughnuts, and also prepare two dozen orders of each sandwich on the menu. In addition, we need to prepare enough cookie mix for twenty dozen cookies, and bake three cakes of each type that I offer. Once we're done with that, we need to make coffee, tea, smoothies, and milkshakes," she said, flipping on light switches as she walked.

Disappearing through the door that separated the front of the store from the back prep room, she retrieved a menu from the stack on the counter. Once she was back in the prepping area, she placed the menu on the counter that he would be working at.

"Oh! And we need to make four of each type of pie I offer, too. Here's the menu* of treats I offer. We have until nine o'clock to get this done - that gives us a little less than three hours."

Gengaku Sohma

Image

"I'm not a pervert damnit." This was not the first time Gengaku was accussed of being a pervert. Then again, there was a time where everyone thought he was gay as well. He rolled his eyes, trying to cover the fact that he had been trying to get various ideas out of his head by reciting his own restaurant's menu in his head. Needless to say...

It was difficult.

His climbed into the passenger's seat, not speaking a word to the pink haired woman driving and looking out the window. Sure, yes. He did have a couple kinks that he dared not speak about in front of his family or co-workers. Many of them would get him looks of him being insane and put his reputation on the line. His indulgences were his business.

That is until Callista has moved in with him.

Every night, he fought himself to not give in to his own...urges. And for the moment he was winning up until she started taunting him about it. In his mind, all kinds of things played out in his mind. None of which he wanted to speak about.

Ever.

But still, there was work to be done. And a bakery was a change of pace from the high-strung insanity of a five-star eatery.

He followed Callista around, taking in her instrutions like he was listening to ticket orders coming in on the fly...until he heard the time limit.

They had three hours to prep before opening. And the menu he was given was huge.

Then again he had seen the menu before, three years ago when he started coming for his baked goods fix and asked for what was good. But looking at it again was like taking a body blow from a sumo wrestler. His eyes went wide from this realization, but then a mischievous smirk quickly replaced it. "áskorun samþykkt." Was all he said before tying up his long hair into a messy bun. He soon got to work, a glint in his eye of being in his own element. The joy of making something one devoured and sustained their own life.

That and it kept the perverse thoughts away for now.

*Challenge accepted.

Kaze never meant to hurt anyone, he was just being his normal self. Even so, the words that came from Miyako had quickly wiped the smile off of his face.

Kaze ... you shouldn't step on people and toy with their feelings.

That wasn't all though. Soon after, she had just darted off, which Kaze could have easily accepted, but stopping to turn back and say something... that something is what made his throat feel dry.

You're ... You're such an asshole! I hate you!

He was used to those kind of words, anyone who acted like him on a daily basis would be. However, for the normally stoic and emotionless Miyako to say those words... He respected her as an intelligent person, so the words had had an effect on him. He glanced down at the book that he had taken from the girl, Advanced Physics. He almost let out a deep sigh before he remembered that there was another person there. Quickly composing himself, he put on his normal smile.

"Well, that was unexpected! Ahahaha!" He exclaimed, letting out as convincing a laugh as he could. "Erhm. Well, sorry 'bout that, Turi. I suppose I crossed a line there, huh?" He kept his smile on his face, doing his best to not show how uncomfortable he actually felt regarding the situation. He had planned to have quite the fun day, if he did say so himself, but this chance meeting had derailed that train almost instantly. Though, it was his fault in the end. He quickly slipped the textbook into his bag and wagered his options aloud, though asking no one in particular. "Hm... Miyako might get in trouble if she doesn't have her book so I should probably head over to the college and find her... I could just skip that entire endeavor and go to that bakery though... but that would leave an even more bad taste in my mouth..." He fiddled with his headset as he thought to himself. "Maybe I could give her back her book and then just skip school and head over to the bakery... What do you think, cat?" This time, he looked straight at Turi. He wasn't good when it came to social conventions and the likes, as anyone could tell. He was legitimately asking her opinion, though he really didn't wish to make it a habit.

Turi was vaguely interested in the events unfolding. The moneky had struck a nerve with the rat causing her to run away only to scream her hate for him. She struggled to hide her laughter at this. Finally it seemed he was getting a taste of his own medicine.

Kaze then looked at the book Miyako had left behind. He let out a laugh though Turi recognized the sadness in his voice. Her own sounded like that many a time. Still she didn't really care what the monkey felt. Nope. Not one bit.

Okay maybe it was a but weird to see Kaze like this due to his usual nature but why should that be her problem? After all, she's the shunned cat.

'You really think I care what you do? Burn the damn thing for all I care. God knows she's smart enough to get through school without it.' Turi was completely unaware she had given the rat a complement. It was probably a good thing because if she relized all hell would break lose.

She glanced down at cheap watch she wore and her eyes widened in shock. 'Shit, I'm gonna be late. You better hope my boss doesn't fire me you damn ape. She's the damn devil.'

Turi glared at Kaze before shaking her head. 'Why are you such an asshole? I'm late, you took the pests book and I wouldn't be suprised if you watched the rabbit unveil her tiny angry rage upon me.' She rolled her eyes. 'Whatever. If I get fired I'm coming after you.' With that Turi walked past Kaze and bumped into his shoulder while doing so.

"If I promise to be good, daddy ... Will you love me then?"

The hours ticked by quickly for them after that. Callista had turned on some upbeat music to keep them going, and somehow over the course of them making all of the food, she ended up with flour all over her face, and Gengaku ended up with baking soda on the front of his kimono - and on his ass. Casting a glance at the matching hand prints on his butt, she snorted and popped a few trays of cookies into the oven.

"Well, I think that's the last of the food," she said, brushing her hands together. She moved over to the sandwiches that they had finished making and picked up a large knife, immediately beginning to portion out the sandwiches for what she gave per order. "Now all we have to do is put half of them away for when they need to be filled, and put the other half in the show-Ow!" she squeaked, jerking her hand back suddenly. Scrunching her face a bit, she cradled her hand against her chest.

After a moment, she opened the hand that held the injured one, only to find that she had made a good, solid slice into the meaty part of her thumb.

"Dritt*," she muttered, wincing as she moved quickly to the sink. Switching on the water, she ran it for a solid couple of minutes before it began to run off of her hand clear, her thumb no longer bleeding. "Drittsekk, that hurt," she hissed out. Taking quick strides to the medicine cabinet she kept in the room, she flipped it open and removed several bandages, along with anti-bacteria ointment.

Once she had bandaged her hand up, she returned to the prepping area, adjusting the tape as she did so.

"Sorry, you know how clumsy I can be, Geng-"

Drawing up short, she barely stopped herself from colliding head-first into his chest. Squeaking, she took a small step back in surprise and slowly tilted her head back to look up at him.

Callista gulped, her eyes wide and her lips turned in a way that showed that she was either embarrassed or thinking.

Well, I can't say anything bad about his looks, that's for sure ... Wait, why am I thinking about that right now? Dammit, Callista! Stop those thoughts right there! You swore off of people, especially men, after what your family did to you. Why would you start thinking in any way about someone, least of all Gengaku? He's a pervert, remember!?

Shaking her head roughly, she patted at her cheeks, only to cry out and yank her hand away, a fresh spot of blood beginning to appear through the bandages.

*Dritt ~ Shit
*drittsekk ~ Son of a Bitch

Kaze's facade dropped once he had heard Turi say her piece.
Why are you such an asshole? I'm late, you took the pests book and I wouldn't be suprised if you watched the rabbit unveil her tiny angry rage upon me. He barely registered the threat that came after as she bumped his shoulder, causing him to drop his umbrella. Instead of picking up the umbrella, he just watched the girl's back as she rushed off to her workplace. Today really just wasn't his day. Leaving his umbrella behind, he walked out from under the overhang and started towards the college. He decided upon returning the notebook then skipping school today. He was no longer in the mood to attend.

Along the way he thought about the best way to apologize. He was never really great at telling when enough was enough, but when things got to a point like now, he knew he should at least try and make amends. That being said, he felt unsure about whether or not to apologize in person as his habitual attitude would undoubtedly kick in and make things worse. In the end, he settled on just leaving a note with the textbook that had an apology written on it. Probably not the best way to apologize, but it did seem the safest.

It didn't occur to him until he arrived at the institute that he had no idea how to find Miyako. He stepped into the building at stood in front of the main office, water slightly dripping from his clothes. He took out a pen and two sticky notes. On the first, wihch he stuck on the cover of the textbook, read
"Miyako Sohma" The second sticky note, which he stuck inside the textbook with just a bit of it sticking out of the pages, read "Hiya. My apologies about before... went to far with my joke. Didn't mean anything by it. You don't gotta forgive me, just as long as you know I'm sorry." He kept it short and to the point, much like how he handled phone calls. Walking into the office, he placed the book on the secretary's counter, " Uh... This is for one of the students that attend the school here. Could you make sure she gets it for me?" The secretary replied with a nod. He gave a quick smile before heading back out the building.

He stopped in front of the building to check his watch. "I think they should be open by now... Maybe?" He mumbled to himself. He glanced back at the school once more before heading off in the direction of the bakery. He peeked into the windows, but saw no one. Double-checking his watch, Kaze figured that anyone in the bakery was busy prepping food in the back. He didn't want to be a bother so he slowly opened the door and closed it with equal volume. He plopped himself down on one of the chairs, his clothes now thoroughly soaked. Putting his headphones to his ears, he sighed. "I need a tylenol."

She was late. She was so so so late. The moment she entered the bar her boss, a large woman called Mama Rose stalked up to her. Turi could smell the liquor on her breath. 'And where have ya been Sohma!?' She hiccuped slightly but her glare could rival Turi's.

'Uh...Rose I-'

'Mama Rose!'

Turi resisted the need to roll her eyes and nodded. 'Right. Mama Rose. I ran into some....family on the way here. Lets just say I don't get along with them.' She took a small step back to watch Rose's reaction. Honestly she was scared of the woman especially when she was drunk off her ass. Like right now.

Mama Rose nodded. 'Right. Family. I understand.' Turi blinked. That was it? She didn't blow up? 'Uh...thank you Mama Rose.' The woman held up a finger to silence her. 'I ain't done Sohma. I need ya ta go ta that bakery. What's that damn place called?'

Well crap. 'Delicious Treats?' The drunk nodded and pulled out a one hundred dollar bill. 'Yeah that. Sohma I need ya ta go get me a dozen chocolate cupcakes for ma little boys birthday.' She raised an eyebrow in confusion. 'Mama Rose I'm a waitress not a-'

'Don't finish that sentence if ya want a job Sohma.' Turi's shoulders sagged and she snatched the bill from the woman's shaking hands. 'And I know how much money I'd get back Sohma! Don't cheat ya Mama Rose now!' The woman screamed this was Turi hurried out the door. Hopefully it scared some customers away just so Mama Rose would be unhappy.

It was still raining outside and as much as Turi didn't want to see her family she wanted to be in the rain even less. So still dressed in her apron she jogged to the bakery.

She pushed the door open with a sigh and with her other hand pushed her wet hair away from her face. Due to this she didn't notice the current customer already here.

Gengaku Sohma

Three hours of work and food handling gave the ox a look of satisfaction and happiness. Food prep was always a breeze for him and not having to work around the clock cooking would make this day a breeze to wander through. The baking soda caked on his kimono (though it wasn't a nice one), made him pat his chest downward as he inspected the food that was made. "Well, that was easier than I thought it would be." He said as he shivered, now noticing the smell that was wafting through the room.

He was about to continue and put out the baked goods when he felt Callista come very close to his chest. He looked down and blinked, focusing on the redness coming out of her thumb. He sighed. "All of us have our clumsy days, I've nearly chopped my own finger off preparing tuna. Come. I'll get that." He said, pulling out some cotton and ointment from his sleeve. As much as is rampant inner perv raged war with him at times, for once he didn't have any ultitor motives this time. Knowing how much of a pain cutting yourself in the kitchen was, he quickly bonded up the cut, still usable, but covered from the food she would be handling today. "There."

He nodded, picking up a tray of sandwiches and heading out to the front to put them out.

Only to be faced with the monkey and the cat already there.

His face showed the look of 'what-even-the-hell-are-you-doing-here?' as he put up the sandwiches. "Good morning you two. Kaze, Don't you have class today? How's work been, Turi?" He asked, trying to make small talk while he was there. Even though, at least from Turi, he was about to get an earful of shit was was too old to deal will.

Kaze... Class...?

Kaze just barely heard the other male over the sound of his music playing through his headphones. As such he wasn't initially aware of the presence of Turi. Piecing together the parts of the question that he had heard, he took of his headset to give his answer. "Oh, hey Pervaku. You're helping out the shop again?" He said, though not with his total normal vigor, "Some things came up. Had a bit of a scuffle with two others. I dropped a package of at the school, but I didn't feel like..." His voice slowly faded as he when he noticed that the cat had been at the door. He quickly composed himself, putting on the smile that people had known to be accustomed to his attitude.

"Erhm.. I felt like skipping out today for personal reasons." He finished, speaking in a more cheerful-ish manner. He moved his gaze over to his phone and scrolled through his playlist. He didn't want to focus too much on Turi considering the events of before. "Oh, hey!" He exclaimed, standing up, "You guys are baking or something right? Leper Biscuit is supposed be open after all. Do you need help with anything? Does Callista need help with anything?" He made himself out to sound excited and ready to help, but really he just wanted to get out of the main area. He did not relish the idea of ending up in another argument with the cat. He'd been called an asshole enough times for one day.

Of course, he didn't really wait for a reply. He simply hopped over the counter and barged into the kitchen area. "Hey, Callista!" He called, louder than was necessary, " How's your morning been? Good? Good. Need help? What can I do?" He barraged question after question. He was willing to do anything. Just as long as he didn't have to make more people mad today.

When Tuir saw Kaze she did nothing but roll her eyes and ignore him. She was here to get stuff for her boss and then leave and hopefully never have to come back again. The boy seemed to want to get away from Turi as per usual. No one ever wanted to be near her for long.

She walked up to the counter and slammed the bill down. 'We both know you don't care about my job perv. No need to hide your hatred for me. No one else does.' Her eyes went dark for a moment before returning to her normal glare. 'I need twelve dozen chocolate cupcakes for my bosses brat.'

She sighed and fell into a nearby chair. Her head was starting to pound. Thanks to her little detour and the heavy rain she was starting to get sick. This was just great. Hopefully it was just a tiny cold that she'd get over quick. If not she'd have to see the Rooster and she really didn't want to go anywhere near her or that bastard God.

'Gengaku.' She gave him a heavy look. 'Can you wake me when you're done? Thanks to a little brat I got stuck in the rain and almost fired.' Without waiting for a reply she laid her head down on the table and let out a happy little moan as the cold top rested against her forehead.

ImageIt didn't take long for Miyako's things to dry, she had only missed about half of her second class. "Thanks again Mei! I'll repay you anyway I can." The girl looked at Miyako with a somewhat sad smile.

"Then cheer up, okay? I'll text you after classes are done." Miyako stood in temporary shock, but sent a wave regardless.

Maybe I did over react ... I just get so tense and nervous and upset around Turi. I couldn't help myself. Miyako pulled open her phone, flipping through the contacts. Luckily, she had Kaze's number.

What you did was wrong Kaze,
But it was rude of me to say those things to you.
I don't hate you, you're my family.

Miyako stuck her phone in her bag, making her way to her next class.

"Miss Sohma, this book was dropped off for you in the front office." Miyako politely took the book from her teacher, it was her Advanced Physics book. She took of the sticky note and sat down. It wasn't until she opened the book for notes that she discovered the note Kaze had left.

Hiya. My apologies about before... went to far with my joke. Didn't mean anything by it. You don't gotta forgive me, just as long as you know I'm sorry.

Miyako smiled once more to herself before joining in on the class.

ImageYamato continued to do what Tomaya asked of him. It was pretty obvious at that point that he was sick, so he would let her give him whatever she had so he could get better then leave the god forsaken estate.

"That's fine ..." Yamato rubbed his throat, swinging his legs over the side of the bed to retrieve his pillow. "Is it possible to take someone else's immune system and give it to me." It wasn't a question really, just a hopeless statement. He wanted to be able to go about freely without having to be watched twenty-four seven. It felt like a prison in the Estate, though it was his Estate that he controlled. That's how the fairy tale went anyways. He sat back on his bed after grabbing his pillow off the ground. Yamato only leaned back slightly before letting himself fall back into the bed, rolling around until he was completely covered by the sheets.

"Haven't you heard? A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!"

Callista held him under a steady gaze as he tended to her hand. If there was one thing you could say about her, it was that her knowledge in the medical field was that if someone was hurt, she'd suggest a band-aid and Neosporin - and that went for any type of injury, no matter how severe.

The throbbing in her thumb subsided a bit as he turned away, but her eyes remained on him.

Since when did Gengaku the pervert have a gentle side?

With an inquisitive brow raised, she returned to the sandwiches she had been cutting, fetched a clean knife, and got to work.

Talking out in the restaurant part caused her to raise her head, and she was just lowering her knife when Kaze popped his head through the curtain that separated the main room from the back rooms.

"Hey, Callista! How's your morning been? Good? Good. Need help? What can I do?

Yellow. His voice is yellow.

Smiling and ignoring the yellow aura that surrounded his body and face, she set her knife down and used her hand to wave him over.

"Well, I was just cutting these sandwiches for the day. Did you maybe want to do that while I go up front and start making the smoothies, milkshakes, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate? Besides, I heard the door open behind you. I would imagine someone came in after you, than, so I should probably take care of them." Handing him the knife, she grabbed his wrist and held it above the sandwiches. Cut them six inches apart from one another - that way they'll be perfect squares. One you're done, cut the squares in half, and then portion them out onto these plates, which will then be placed on these trays," she instructed, motioning to the items she spoke of.

Leaving him to it, she walked towards the main room, ducking through the curtain. She found Gengaku out front with a young woman, who currently stood at the door. From the greeting Gen gave her, she found her name to be Turi, and when she narrowed her eyes, she nodded.

"You must be the Turi that Gengaku's told me about," she said with a smile, wiping her uninjured, flour-covered hand on her apron as she approached the side of the counter. She was completely oblivious to the high tension coming off of the young woman - or so it seemed. Instead, she was just choosing to ignore it. "Good morning. My name is Callista. It's very nice to meet you, Turi," she said, bowing forward a bit, as was custom in Japan - something she had found out the hard way.

When she was once again straightened, she moved behind the counter and beamed a smile at the young woman, who had just recently plopped down in one of the chairs. When she moved, the soft sound of her clothing sent a greenish hue into the air, causing Callista to tilt her head to the side. The woman steps sent up a brownish-red color.

"You're a darker person - I can already tell. But that's alright - so am I," she laughed, bending down to open the back of the display case. "Your boss already called about the cupcakes and told me you were coming, so I have them boxed up down here," she explained, removing a large box with about a dozen chocolate cupcakes, which had swirling brown or white frosting, and a large array of sprinkles on top of them. Setting the box on the counter, she added a smaller box, the contents of which unknown.

"Alright, so the cupcakes will come to $15 even, and the smaller box is just a little something for the trouble that I know for a fact Rose puts you through. You aren't the first person she's sent here, and you certainly won't be the last. Let her know that I wish her little boy a happy birthday, okay?" she asked, punching several buttons on the register. She slipped the bill into the register and counted out the change, plucked up the boxes, and walked them around the counter to where the young woman sat. "You know, if you aren't feeling well, you really shouldn't go out in the rain again. Why doesn't Gengaku drive you back to your work? I know he's been dying to drive my car ever since he saw it," she said with a playful wink at the girl. Looking back over her shoulder, she beamed a smile that was sickeningly sweet - and extremely evil. "Isn't that right, Gen?"

"Love is an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired ... Robert Frost."

"That's fine ..."

Tomaya turned slightly as she heard movement behind her, and was about to argue with him walking around, but let it go when she noticed that he was simply retrieving his pillow.

Her heart tugged at the look of him. He appeared deflated - as if everything in the world had just sucked all of the hope and energy from his body, which more times than not refused to work properly. She felt the ache of tears behind her eyes, but quickly blinked them back, knowing full-well that if she cried over him, he would only become angry at the pity.

Shutting the folder and quickly returning it to her bag, she removed a bottle of large, pink antibiotics, a smaller bottle with tiny, yellow coughing pills, and an inhaler - all three she kept on her due to those three being the most common necessities for his illnesses. She retrieved the bottle of water that he had somehow bumped onto the floor before approaching his bed.

Is it possible to take someone else's immune system and give it to me."

"I'm afraid not, Yamato. I'm very sorry. I know how difficult this is," she said gently, lightly perching on the edge of his bed. Her hand moved out, stopped in mid-air, before she sucked in a breath for courage. She pulled the blankets down just enough to reveal his head from the nose and up. Her hand moved to brush the thick black locks of his bangs back and out of his face. "There isn't much for me to say that can convey how I feel right now without upsetting you, so I'm going to refrain from speaking of it. Why don't you take your medication and I can make you some hot chocolate and soup?"

When there was no response, she let her hand come to a gentle resting spot on his head.

"'In three words I can sum up just about everything that I've learned about life: it goes on.' Robert Frost," she said quietly. A small smile shook the corners of her lips as she looked down at him, her hand lightly petting his black hair. "Remember how I would read his poems to you?" she asked. She tilted her head up and looked out the rain-splattered window, into the dark, pouring outdoors.

"'Two road diverged in the wood, and I took the one less traveled by ... And that made all the difference.' Robert Frost again," she laughed a bit this time. "Can you see the pattern? I love poetry, but Robert Frost and Edgar Allen Poe are my two favorite poets," she said, her head tilting a bit. "Did you know that it is not only the cursed that lead tragic lives, but also the ones who are destined to do so? Edgar Allen Poe was mentally unstable for a good portion of his life, and lost more family members than I can count," she tacked on, as if attempting to give an example. "I can only imagine the darkness that was within Mr. Frost, too. But do you know what one of his most famous quotes is?"

"'Accept no one's definition of your life: Define yourself'."

"Your life is whatever you choose to make it, Yamato. Whether you choose to be dour and feel badly for yourself and your life is your own choice - not the choice of the people who surround you. Because I know that, at least for your brother and I ... It breaks our hearts to see you in so much pain - and I don't mean physically," she murmured, her hand once again still on his head.

Gengaku Sohma

Image

I am truly getting too old for this shit. It wasn't the first time that Gengaku was called a pervert by the rest of his family. Ever since it got out about him being dragged to a BDSM bar got out, it had all gone down hill from there. He rolled his eyes at the Monkey, knowing full will he was very friendly with Callista and eager to help. A bit to eager. He narrowed his eyes at him as he talked, knowing that all he wanted to do was get out of class. Daydreams of turning the monkey into a mindless idiot if he layed a hand on Calli ran through his mind...before snapping back to more confused thoughts.

I don't normally think that way. Hell Calli's my bandmate and as much of a friend that I can have at this age. And it still looks weird when ever I walk with her in town. Maybe...NO! SHE'S 21 AND I'M 29. THAT'S FUCKING WEIRD.' he shook his head again, just catching the request of the co-owner of this little bakery. Drive Turi back to the bar she worked at.

Now, Gengaku wasn't that bad of a guy. Of course he would give his cousin a ride in the rain. No one wants to be out there soaking wet. That and the bar wasn't but a few minute drive away. Maybe a minute drive. It was the Bar's owner that truly scared the hell out of him. Mama rose was her name he recalled, and the last time he went to that bar she was relentless about getting to know him. It was no secret that she had a...certain attraction to him. It was a scary sight. And that was something that Gengaku didn't say often or without reason.

"Sure, yeah. I'll take her." he said with out a change in face. Even with the sheer fright of the woman that was Turi's boss coming up to the window and trying to give him a kiss. "No one likes getting a cold during work for running courier, right?" He said, now looking for the keys turning around. Turning around to make faces that would prove his disapproval for going to that bar again. Horrid memories of that place were starting to well up.

Well, I was just cutting these sandwiches for the day. Did you maybe want to do that while I go up front and start making the smoothies, milkshakes, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate? Besides, I heard the door open behind you. I would imagine someone came in after you, than, so I should probably take care of them. Cut them six inches apart from one another - that way they'll be perfect squares. One you're done, cut the squares in half, and then portion them out onto these plates, which will then be placed on these trays.

That was his task. Cut the sandwiches into specific measurements, place them on the plates, plates go on the tray. Simple. Of course, he never really wanted to work in the first place, but he had no choice and this point. With the knife in hand, he was about to start cutting the sandwiches when his phone vibrated. Putting down the knife, for obvious safety reasons, he took out his phone. It was a text from Miyako. He racked his brain, trying to remember if they had ever exchanged numbers before. With a shrug, he decided that he probably must have forgotten.

What you did was wrong Kaze,
But it was rude of me to say those things to you.
I don't hate you, you're my family.

He couldn't help but let a small smile appear on his face. He felt like some of the tension in his body had been lifted. Though, all the text really said was that she was possibly sorry for what she said and that she didn't hate him. She made no comment about being angry, so there was that possibility, but Kaze was fine with people being angry at him. Take a look at Gengaku for example, he appears to always be made at him, well, annoyed is probably more accurate. Kaze quickly keyed in his own response, but then immediately erased it. "Was it okay to reply...?" He asked himself, "If she's at school would it be better to just reply later? But if she sent one then maybe she's not doing anything?" In the end, he sent a message over, praying to god that if she was in class, her phone was silent or off.

It was wrong, you had the right to say what you did.
Good to know that I didn't have to add another person to the list of people who hate me!
Were you able to get the textbook? Left it at the office.
Sorry about snatching it earlier, I'll make it up to you later.

With a nod, he closed his phone, putting it back in his pocket. Picking the knife back up, he begun to cut the sandwiches as Callista had specified, humming all the while. He was starting to have hopes that this day could be saved yet. After having done so, he placed the sandwiches onto the plates, then onto the tray. He looked back at the curtain sepperating the two areas, but decided against going through it. He was in a good mood, he felt like that would create some unnecessary drama if Turi was still out there. Instead he stayed in the kitchen area and ended up playing around with the knife, swinging it around like a sword while humming some sort of dramatic fight music.

Turi didn't know another woman worked here. She raised her head as the pink haired girl walked out and introduced herself. After she was done Turi sent a glare at Gengaku. 'You told her about me?' There was something else in the question. Did she know about the curse? Or even worse, Turi's?

She shook her head and stood. 'Whatever. Hey.' Her eyes followed Callista as she reached down to grab the cupcakes Turi had suffered for. '....Damn it Rose. You could of told me you already called them....' This was mumbled rather loudly under her breath but she stopped upon seeing the little box.

A gift....for her? How long has it been since she's gotten a gift? The last she could remember was three years ago when she left her dad. He had given her a picture frame with the two of them smiling widely inside. She picked up the small box and her gripped tightened around it. 'I....yeah.' She nodded at the woman which was probably the only thank you she would get.

To say she was suprised when the details of being driven came up was an understatement. But when Gengaku agreed she was even more shocked. 'I...' She pursed her lips and grabbed half the boxes. 'Fine. Grab the rest of the boxes.' With one last nod to Callista she was out the door.

Gengaku sighed. Now faced with the fact hat he really did have to take her back to the that damned bar. However, if he wanted to have Turi stop hating him for no reason; He had to at least do this small favor for her. Even if it was a danger to his own personal space bubble.

He grabbed the rest of the boxes, carrying them back to the car and held the passenger's door open for his cousin. Trying to be as polite as possible and not come off as being creepy. Once the boxes were loaded in, Gengaku got in himself and started off the the bar, driving in silence though the music that was playing before still blared all the way there.

It was when they got to the bar was when Gengaku put on his most "charming" face, the face he put on when coming to a table to see to the needs of his costumers. "Mother Rose? I've brought back Turi and you request. Do you mind if I have word with you for a moment?" He said in a most saccharin tone, trying to hide the fact that he was most uncomfortable in this place to begin with.

Image"Sir?" Miyako approached her instructor. "For this equation, I got something different than you. Did I use the wrong equation?" The instructor looked at Miyako's equation, quickly pointing to the gravitational constant.

"Your constant is off. The six goes in front of all this and the nine in back. See, when we work that out ... you get the right answer." Miyako internally punished herself but smiled and thanked her instructor.

Outside the room, she was greeted by a few people she knew. "Miyako" one of the girls exclaimed. "Do you want to come to karaoke with us for lunch?" It was a kind offer, but Miyako never went out in fear she would bump into someone.

"I have a lot to do at home, not to mention study."

"Come on Miyako! You have to come out with us sooner or later."

"I'll opt out for later?" Miyako let out a small laugh. "I'll text you and we can arrange something, alright?" With a wave, Miyako left for the library. She had to wait for the rain to stop so she could go home and eat. She wasn't that hungry, but a home-made sandwich was always nice. And since she was done with classes for the day, she could spend the rest of the day at home, doing homework, cleaning, playing with Shadow. "That's right! I need to go to the store and him more catnip. I could go to the student store and buy an umbrella and just go now ..." She silently thanked God that the student store was connected to the library.

"One umbrella?"

"Sure thing Miyako," a friend of hers said.

"Thanks Touma," Miyako said with a smile, handing him change.

"It's lunch time already? Wanna go out to eat? My treat," Touma said in a slightly singsong voice.

Miyako shook her head, but bowed slightly in thanks. "I have to do some shopping then get home." With a wave goodbye, Miyako carried on to the front gate of the school. I should make a list, She thought, stopping to rummage around in her bag for her phone. The front light blinked telling her she had received a message. A quick look identified it to be from Kaze.

It was wrong, you had the right to say what you did.
Good to know that I didn't have to add another person to the list of people who hate me!
Were you able to get the textbook? Left it at the office.
Sorry about snatching it earlier, I'll make it up to you later.

Miyako nodded at her phone, closing out of the message to create a list. "I can make lasagna and have left overs for a week." It sounded good enough to her. "So I need noodles, ground beef," Miyako cringed at the word. It was the same for her whenever she saw a dead mouse. She always felt like she was eating her cousin whenever she purchased the meat. "I'll have to ask for forgiveness later. What else do I need. Cheese, tomato sauce and parsley? Sounds good to me." Miyako closed her phone and continued on to the store.

Because I know that, at least for your brother and I ... It breaks our hearts to see you in so much pain - and I don't mean physically," she murmured, her hand once again still on his head.

Yamato felt as though he were a dog by how much petting he was receiving. On top of that, Tomaya was telling him about Frost and Poe like she personally knew the men. He actually had loved it when she used to read through the door to him. He would always say, "Go away, I don't want to listen," but he would sit by the door quietly so he could hear her words. Yamato reached up and grabbed her hand, holding it against his head. It felt like he was in an odd haze that lacked necessary oxygen.

Yamato grabbed Tomaya's hand tightly, pulling her onto the bed next to him. "Read to me," he ordered, still holding her hand. "You're useless and all you can do is read, so read to me."

Since Yamato had been up all night, the moment she began to speak, Yamato's hand let go of hers as he fell into a dreamless slumber.

It was probably the most uncomfortable car ride Turi had ever experienced. She stared out the window the whole entire time and her mind wondered to the pink haired woman who was just plain nice to her. She wasn't a Sohma so she wouldn't turn into an animal but Turi was sure she knew about the curse. Yet she still acted like Turi was any other Sohma and even when as far as making her something. Turi bit her bottom lip as they got back to the bar. She was feeling weird and it wasn't her normal sick weird.

When they entered the bar Gengaku went straight to Mama Rose and her face light up at the sight of him. 'Well! If it isn't ma favorite Sohma! Darling Gen call me Mama Rose. Or just Rose.' She pinched the man's cheek and Turi, who had been rather disappointed at the favorite Shoma thing, let a light chuckle escape her lips. It was no secret Mama Rose wanted Gengaku to work for her among other things.

She lead him to a table and pointed at Turi as she sat down. 'Go get us some of ma finest beer Sohma!' Turi resisted another chuckle and left only to return in a few minutes. Two bottles of beer were held in each hand and she sat them down on the table with a clink. Mama Rose grabbed one and looked at Gengaku with a slight glint in her eye. 'First off Gen, how's that bakery of yours? Ya sure ya don't wanna call it quits and work for me?'
