Role: Adoressan Prince

Which Kingdom Are They From: Adoressa

Age: 20

Race: Oni/ Uranus hybrid

Description: Having spent his life in a cold dungeon, Korvis is abnormally pale. He has a strong jaw and high cheekbones, and a pointed chin. Altogether he looks very regal. His eyes are a rich golden color, and seem to gleam in darkness. Having nothing better to do, Korvis trained his mind and body, and learned much from the jailer, a nice old man who shared his knowledge. Korvis stands six feet tall and is has a very lean, built physique. He has a commanding presence. At first, Korvis only had rags, but when he takes his place as the true Adoressan Prince, he takes to wearing dark clothing. Usually, he wears a long coat that is slit in the back to accommodate his wings. He wears light plate armor on his forearms and his shoulders, and his black leather boots are also armored. The armor is black with gold edging. Because of his Oni heritage, Korvis does not have the white wings of pure Uranus, but instead has a pair of large chiropteran wings.

Abilities: Korvis is physically very strong, though he cannot hope to compete with a Taura in strength. He is an accomplished magic user, and can use both white and black magic to a certain degree. He can also fly and, because of his Oni heritage, Korvis can see in the dark while simultaneously cloaking himself in shadows, making him good at stealth, though he does not know how to move as silently as better trained individuals. Perhaps Korvis' greatest skill is "shadow crafting," an ability where he can make objects from darkness. This is most often used to make weapons and armor, and the crafted items are durable and only fall apart when Korvis consciously wills them to disperse.

Weapons: The Vrykol Image, shadow crafted weaponry.

Personality: Korvis is respectful and quiet, and very well-mannered, having been taught how to act like a proper gentleman by his personal jailer, a former soldier of Adoressa who took pity on the shunned prince. He sometimes acts on impulse, but often will think through before doing anything. There was not much happiness in his life, so Korvis has a very stoic personality. He can often come across as cold and uncaring, but that is because he has not had many to care for or care for him. Korvis is curious and inquisitive in his own way, often reflecting on new concepts rather than asking people about them directly.

Bio: Korvis' story starts before his birth, with the Oni and the Uranus. These races, being polar opposites, have been fighting from the beginning. This hostility would continue up till the time of Korvis' father. The Adoressan King took a Uranus wife, and Oni were now treated more harshly than ever in history. The King and Queen, thinking the Oni were fully subjugated, felt safe in their palace, and even had some Oni servants. One such servant was once a prince in the Oni society, before being forced to work for his enemies. One night, in a fit of rage, the Oni prince beat and raped the Uranus Queen of Adoressa. The Queen became pregnant, but tried to hide this from the King. The Oni assailant was put to death by some of the Queen's personal guard, keeping the whole affair quiet.

When she finally gave birth, the King was horrified. He attributed the abomination to it being born on a cursed day, but the Queen knew that her first child was a perfect blend of Oni and Uranus. The King soon learned the truth, and ordered the abomination to be killed. The Queen managed to persuade him to spare the baby's life, and instead of killing it, the King ordered the child to be banished to the darkest pit of the dungeon. There it would live its life, bearing the name Korvis Nyktelios, the abomination born on a cursed night. News of the child never got out to the public, and the official story was that the baby died soon after being born.

The only person who had contact with the child was an old jailer. He provided for all the child's needs, and soon came to care for the child. He saw the child had inherited the good nature of his mother, and became a father figure to Korvis, teaching him all he knew of chivalry. Under his guidance, Korvis learned weapons and battle tactics, and also manners and politics of Adoressan society. Korvis learned quickly, and trained his body in his spare time. He became strong in both mind and body, and learned to not harbor any bitterness toward his mother or the king for his plight.

Meanwhile, the King and queen had another child, Ryurik Valentin. This child was spoiled by his father, and became a haughty and arrogant prince, and the supposed only heir to the throne. Korvis learned of his younger half brother and flew into a rage, forgetting all about what the jailer had taught him. How do manners and gentlemanly conduct stand to learning your parents had another child, who took your rightful title and lived a privileged life filled with love and happiness? Korvis could not stand the fact that his half-brother, an arrogant and insolent brat, was given everything that Korvis was denied. The anger quickly dispersed, not being in Korvis' nature to stay angry. In the following depression, Korvis first heard the voice.

The voice spoke to Korvis, explaining that it has been imprisoned for centuries because of its crimes. It hid nothing from Korvis, and Korvis understood the evil that the blade represented. One day, Korvis managed to convince the jailer to release him. Korvis immediately went to find the blade. Without hesitation, Korvis tore the blade from its ancient tomb, and fought the will of the demon residing in the blade. Because of his mixed heritage, Korvis could allow the blade to draw on his magic, and because Korvis had trained his mind for years, his will was stronger than the demonic weapon's own. Korvis spread his chiropteran wings and flew to the Great Hall, landing before the King and his mother.

All were shocked at this bizarre creature's appearance, and the guards did not hesitate to draw their weapons on him, waiting for orders to attack. Korvis held the demonic blade aloft, and with a sweep of his wings, went down on one knee before the king, offering up the sword to prove his good intentions. The king did not take the blade, but ordered Korvis to rise and explain who he was. Korvis came out and explained that the queen was his mother, and that, while the king had severely wronged him, he bore him no ill will. After a very emotional speech that moved all present to tears, Korvis asked that he be given his rightful title as Prince of Adoressa. The King's tears suddenly vanished, and a dark rage took their place. He yelled at Korvis for being so bold, and said that Korvis was not his son, and had no claim to the throne. Korvis then used his knowledge of the King's arrogance and his love of gambling to come up with a wager: If he could kill Ryurik in a duel, then the King would name Korvis the rightful heir. The King laughed, thinking that a foolish prisoner could never best Ryurik in battle. The King agreed to the wager, with the condition that the demonic Vrykol could not be used in the battle by Korvis. Only Ryurik would be allowed to use weapons in the battle, and if he chose the Vrykol, then Korvis would have to hand it over. Korvis agreed to the conditions, and would set out the next morning for the Kingdom of Galaoa. Three guards loyal to the King and three loyal to the Queen would accompany him. Korvis agreed, and the two swore on the pact using old vows of the Adoressan kingdom. Korvis then went back to his cell for the night.

His mother came to visit him for the first time in his whole life, weeping and apologizing profusely. She said that she saw now that Korvis was a good child, her first born and that she always loved him, and that it had torn her apart not seeing him all these years. With a small smile, Korvis embraced his mother, telling her that all is forgiven. She then brought him up to the main castle, giving him food and clothes that were denied to him for so long. Korvis felt some happiness, and tried to keep his emotions in check. It is difficult for someone like Korvis not to love their family, no matter how much they had neglected them in the past. He attributed this to his Uranus heritage.

The next day, Korvis prepared to leave. He embraced his friend and adopted father, and shared a few more moments with his mother. He tried to be nice to the King, but the old bastard would have nothing to do with it. So, Korvis simply bowed to him, leaving him with a simple sentence: "Regardless of what happens today, I shall live and die as a chevalier, with honor. And nothing will take that away from me."

And then Korvis left Adoressa, remembering the words the jailer left him with:"Do not go into battle with hate in your heart, for hatred corrupts. Go forth with the same forgiveness you have shown the King and Queen. Farewell, my son."

Theme Song: Fear's In the Water By the Vincent Black Shadow

Little ones
They scream like bunnies
Probably something you
Said about a faceless head
A mirror locked in a room
You wonder what it did
There's a crack in the floor
That wasn't there before
I think it's looking at you

Fears in the water
Tapping on your shoulder
Fears in the water
Dragging down your daughter
Fears in the water
Brazen like a soldier
Fears in the water
Looking at you, oh

REPEAT ALL
You, oh
You, oh

Little Ones
They scream like bunnies
Probably something you
Said about a faceless head
A mirror locked in a room
You wonder what it did
There's a crack in the floor
That wasn't there before
I think it's looking at you

Fears in the water
Tapping on your shoulder
Fears in the water
Dragging down your daughter
Fears in the water
Brazen like a soilder
Fears in the water
Looking at you, oh

Fears in the water
Dragging down your daughter
Fears in the water
Looking at you
