Rhys Jakobson

Description

Image
Name: Rhys Jakobson
Age: Seventeen
Stereotype: Goth Male
Personality: Rhys is very kind, but also rather shy. He isn't a particularly outgoing sort of guy, preferring his small clique of goths over a large amount of friends. Rhys is always a bit hesitant about saying things about himself, always worried about whether they'll be used against him in the future. He is rather paranoid when it comes to things like that. Rhys is very indecisive, and is not the sort of person who would make a good leader. He take up responsibility if he has to, however, he generally prefers to let others do the leading, content to just follow. He isn't the sort of person who would make a stand, and is generally just a bystander for the most part. If one of his friends is being bullied, he will try to help them, but he tends to pretend to not notice if anyone else is in trouble.

Stereotypically goth, Rhys is a very quiet, introverted, and also rather depressed. He doesn't tend to show it, but underneath he really is very depressed, and near the verge of suicidal on bad days. There isn't any particular reason for his depression; it's most likely just caused by an imbalance of hormones that comes from growing up. Rhys hates the fact that he doesn't even have a reason for being depressed, and considers himself very worthless for being depressed, which only ever makes him more depressed. He tends to handle his depression by cutting, but would never let that fact be known, which is why he is always wearing his jacket.
Sexuality: Gay
Appearance: Rhys is a fairly tall guy, standing at just under 6'2" in height. He has a fairly slender build with just enough muscles to prove that he does exercise every now and then. Preferring to keep his hair long, there is rarely a moment when his hair is shorter than shoulder length. It is wavy, and dyed black. Naturally, his hair is a fairly light colour, most likely blond or red, but Rhys makes sure to dye it often enough that the roots of his hair never show their true colours. Most of the time, he wears his hair loose purely because that it simplest. He has large, dark blue eyes that are emphasized by the amount of eyeliner and eyeshadow he wears; clearly, Rhys prefers a rather gothic style of dressing. His skin is almost pure white due to an overload of pale foundation.

Rhys has a fairly casual, yet elegant, dress sense. Most of the time, he will be wearing t-shirts and slacks. Everything is black, of course, considering he is a goth. It is unheard of to see Rhys without his black leather jacket. He is always wearing it in even the warmest of weather, refusing to take it off. There are a few rumours circulating about why he doesn't want to take his jacket off, the main one being that he cuts and doesn't want anyone to see the scars, but Rhys just claims he likes it too much to not wear it. His choice of footwear is black Converse sneakers.
Likes: Reading (Especially if it's written by Edgar Allen Poe or Neil Gaimen), listening to music (Cradle of Filth, Sixx Am, Moi Dix Mois, and Malice Mizer are his favourite bands), the colour black, painting, drawing, classical music
Dislikes: Overly talkative people, social events, talking about himself, being a leader, himself.
Background: Rhys lives a fairly normal life for the most part. He was born in Newberry to a fairly perfect family. His mother is a plastic surgeon and his father is a lawyer, so his family has a fairly decent income rate. His older sister, Elizabeth, is studying music at Julliard and is on the verge of becoming a world class violinist. He has two pet cats, Fluffy and Bob, and lives in a stereotypical two story house that is white. Rhys' parents were always fairly carefree and open-minded, so they let Rhys do what he wanted during his childhood. There was a mild argument when he switched over to a goth style a few years ago, but they soon grew accustomed to his different style.

He couldn't quite remember when he first became depressed, but it was probably somewhere around entering ninth grade. Rhys tried to keep his feelings hidden from his parents, but, one day, his mother walked in on him cutting. She panicked, and immediately grounded Rhys, taking everything that could potentially be sharp away from him. She then called a counselor, and he has been having meetings with his counselor for the past few years. When he was sixteen, Rhys claimed that he wasn't depressed anymore, so his meetings with his counselor stopped. Now his depression has only ever gotten worse.
Misc: He loves singing, and has a fairly high tenor voice. Rhys has taught himself to death growl, which is useful considering most of his favourite songs are death growled. I am a Gleek

So begins...

Rhys Jakobson
Why did people insist on waking him up so early in the morning? Rhys groaned, tugging his pillow and blankets over his head in order to drown out his father's out of tune singing.

"Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, I've got a wonderful feeling, everything's going my way."

He absolutely hated this song. It was so cheery, and so annoying. His father seemed to be obsessed with it. Rhys couldn't recall a single morning when his father wasn't singing that song. He might have sang it because he actually liked the song, but Rhys had the suspicion that it was to get him out of bed. After all, if Rhys shouted at him to shut up, his parents would know that he was awake, and would nag him until the end of time, and telling him to shut up would mean he would have to get out of bed and walk all the way to the kitchen.

Groaning, the thin male finally gave in. He swung his legs out of his bed until he was in a position that could be considered sitting. Rising to his feet with a groan, Rhys stumbled out of his room towards the bathroom that was halfway down the hall. His parents had a bathroom connecting to their room, and, since his sister, Elizabeth, was in college, he got this bathroom all to his own. He stepped into the fairly large room, closing the door softly behind him. Stripping out of his pajamas, the thin male stepped into the shower, turning the water on.

"Augh, this is f***ing freezing!" he exclaimed in shock as the cold water hit his skin. A shout of 'language, Rhys!' from the other room made it clear that he had spoken a bit louder than he had planned, and that his mother was awake. With a glare in the direction of his parents' room, ignoring the fact that there were a couple of walls in between, Rhys stepped back, allowing the water to soak his hair. It was finally beginning to get slightly warmer, although Rhys wasn't quite sure if that was because it was actually heating up or his skin was just getting accustomed to the freezing temperature. He reached to the faucet, adjusting the temperature so that it would be around 105 degrees Fahrenheit once the water heated up fully. Rhys liked absolutely boiling water, and more often than not suffered minor burns after finishing a shower.

He began to wash his hair, making sure that the shampoo was his before applying a generous amount to his hair. His sister loved pranking Rhys when she was still living with him and his parents, and often filled his shampoo bottle with her shampoo. There were many days when Rhys had accidentally gone to school smelling of roses thanks to his sister. Now he was paranoid when it came to his shampoo, and always made sure it was his before using it. Guys who showed up to school with rose scented hair tended to not be particularly popular, after all.

Finishing his shower, his pale skin covered in odd red blotches from the heat of the water, Rhys began to towel off. He took special care around his right arm, not putting too much pressure on it, and also making sure to not let it be seen in the mirror. He was perfectly fine with seeing the red crosshatch pattern if he saw his arm directly, but he could never bear to look at the livid scarring in his reflection. Maybe because it made him realise how far he had fallen, who knew?

Wrapping the towel around his waist, Rhys grabbed a hair brush and slouched out of the bathroom towards his room. He closed the door once he was inside, and headed over to his closet to chose some clothes. Today was a regular day, so he wasn't wearing anything particularly special. Just a normal black t-shirt and some black slacks. And, of course, his leather jacket. Once clothed, he walked over to his desk, beginning to brush his hair and pulling open a drawer as he sat down in his chair.

The first thing in the drawer that caught his eye was the glint of a silver blade. 'Not today, Rhys...' he commanded himself, trying to ignore the knife as he pulled a small box of make-up out of the drawer. As soon as his hand was a safe distance away, he slammed the drawer shut with a bit more haste than necessary. Propping a mirror against the screen of his computer, Rhys began to carefully apply eye make-up.

About ten minutes later, the thin male was sitting downstairs eating Lucky Charms. Rhys loved Lucky Charms, that was his absolute favourite type of cereal, and he would eat a bowl or three every morning. Maybe not the healthiest breakfast, but it certainly tasted good. Finishing up his cereal, Rhys put the bowl in the dishwasher, pulled on shoes, grabbed his bag and left.

The walk to school was fairly quick, considering Rhys lived barely five minutes away from it. He kept his gaze down as he walked in through the doors, trying to avoid drawing attention to himself. Arriving at his locker, he began to put his books away, only keeping what was necessary for his morning classes.

Ianto Leyshon
Ianto hadn't realised a yawn could feel like his face was ripping in half. Then again, he hadn't been this tired before. The Welsh man often got up very early, usually waking up somewhere around four A.M. He lived about two hours away from Newberry, so he had to wake up very early in order to make the commute. Normally, he would get to bed early in order to not be so exhausted in the morning, but today was different. He had gone to a concert last night, and they had played Carmina Burana. Ianto had only gotten home at around midnight, so he currently felt like a walking ball of exhaustion.

"Crud," he muttered to himself as he knocked over his coffee, spilling it on the papers littering his desk. Luckily, they didn't appear to be anything majorly important, but, still. He had gotten coffee on them. That was bad. He grabbed some napkins from a drawer in his desk, and began to blot up the brown liquid, hoping it hadn't soaked into his desk. Once he was sure all of the coffee was gone, he threw the napkins out and stood up. Time to get a new coffee and ask the principal for blank copies of that paperwork.

Ianto walked through the hallway towards the staff room, trying to avoid falling asleep as he walked. He was just so completely exhausted. But, he couldn't let that be shown. After all, he was a teacher here. It was his duty to be awake during school. Anyways, he could always take a nap in his office later or after school. People tended to not need him during class.

(Kendall is sending a text to "everyone she knows", who is every student in this RP, so EVERYONE is receiving it)

'Being early is worse than being late'  Kendall silently decided. Despite spending forever picking out an outfit she had gotten to school too soon (curtesy of her mom) and was sipping a chai latte in the cafeteria, writing a text to everyone she knew.

Kendall: hi everyone! so, my b-day's tomorrow, and i'm throwing a party tomorrow nite @ my house!

Kendall added her address and hit send. When she saw Bri walk in, she waved her over, smiling. She saw that Bri looked a little tired, but decided to ignore it.
