Biography: Helen Smith is an upstanding citizen of Glielle. Well, that is, as upstanding as a lower class woman can be. Her family worked and lived in one of the few libraries that was still standing in the city. She was raised to respect the laws of both city and street, with an excellent ( by lower city standards) education, and most importantly, to always have a web of communication, knowledge, and reliance. All of this she put into practice. By the age of ten, she had learned how to stay out of trouble from both the rogue street gangs and the city lawmen. By twelve, all of the kids not only knew her, but funneled any information or rumors they came across. At fourteen, she could play the street vendors like a fiddle and knew everything that happened before it happened. This was also the year the library burned down, taking both her family's home and livelihood with it. At fifteen she had her first child, Irelynd. Sixteen, her parents were ushered from this world to the next, and she had her second child, Maleah. At seventeen, she practically owns the rumor mill.
One thing to know about Helen is that she will not hesitate to cut the feet from under you. Through various sources, she has managed to obtain dirt on just about every one that she could ever need to. Mind you, most of this blackmail material - no one is aware she has. At least, not until she uses it. Though she keeps both friends and enemies close, she can dodge a knife in the back like no one's business - and return it with a twofold fury. With her connections, she will make sure that any shopkeepers will give you their highest prices, thieves will rob you blind, and make sure that no one will ever higher you again. She virtually controls the rumor mill. Something also to keep in mind about her - the fathers of her children were not exactly Helen's choice, nor were they expected to stick around. Despite this, she loves the two girls more than anything else and will do anything to make sure they are safe.
Currently, the girls are staying with a trusted friend. Times being tougher than usual, Helen has had to take up a job in the palace as a personal maid/cook/seamstress. She returns to the cities on weekends and is looking forward to being able to find a better paying job that will allow her to stay closer to home.
