Background Info: Angel's father was a human pirate who fell in love with an elven woman. He gave up everything to be with her, even the life he loved on the Cloudsea, but she ultimately left him with a daughter and a broken heart. The man made a point of warning her never to trust elves, that they would steal her heart with their charms and eventually cast her aside. Despite this, he was a good father, determined to see his girl get ahead in the world. In the dark of night, he would often regale her with stories of adventure on the high skies and reminding her all the time that you need to fight for what you want, no matter what the cost.
His own cost, it would seem, was too great. When Angel was ten, her father was arrested and tried for his previous crimes as a pirate. The man was sentenced to death, and the girl was dumped in an orphanage. She was soon adopted by a couple from the Noble district, probably as some act of charity. Nonetheless, Angel refused to be turned into their idea of a "proper" young lady, preferring to spend her days getting into all kinds of trouble. A week prior to the voyage, she overheard her "parents'" plans of setting her up for an arranged marriage. Outrage (and more than a little scared), she immediately packed up her things and left, determined to seek out the life of adventure her father had led.
