Welcome to home of souls, the land of the dead. For many thousands of years, souls have been sent here. They have been judged and sent away to whatever sector of the realm that Hades has seen fit. The Ancient Greeks had their religion right, there is such a thing as the gods. The Underworld really does exist. Since then, however, the gods have toned themselves down. They have withdrawn from the affairs of mortals to allow the human race to develop themselves. Only every now and then do they ever visit Earth. Now it seems as though the gods have left altogether because Hades has abandoned his kingdom, left it to rot in his absence. Only his workers, the harpies, remain. But even they are at a confusion over why he would leave. The walls surrounding the different quarters have crumbled and the souls have been released to mingle. The Islands of the Blessed no longer are only for the blessed.

The Realms:


Asphodel: Meadows for the average
The Asphodel Meadows is the place for those who never achieved anything in their lives, those who led averagely boring lifestyles with no fame or fortunes. The meadows were just that, fields where souls would wander- amusing themselves in the boring, pitiful afterlife that they now resided.


Elysium: A place for those of achievements
Over the thousands of years, this is one of the places in Hades that has changed. Retaining its free, easygoing life; Elysium has now sprouted some small but peaceful towns. With no need for money, or jobs- the inhabitants can live out the rest of their eternity free from the stresses of their human life. Those granted Elysium also had the option of being reincarnated but the absence of Hades means this is no longer an option.


The Islands of the Blessed: Reincarnated thrice and gained Elysium all of those times
The Islands of the Blessed are for those who had been reincarnated three times and been granted Elysium every time. The inhabitants are granted their heart's desires. Whatever they wish for will be theirs. The islands are beautiful, definitely the best place in the entirety of the Underworld.


The Fields of Punishment: For those with a bad history
Those who have committed evil crimes, like murder or assault, are sent here. Even if the crime has not been bad but they have upset the gods then it would earn them their right of way to the torture fields. Here the punishments are usually carried out by the harpies. Punishments can be anything, from being forced to push a boulder up a hill for eternity to only being able to eat gruel forever. With the harpies gone then it is obvious that most people residing here have left.


Tartarus: The pit of monsters
Here resides the worst of the worse. Originally kept in cells, these creatures have been released and all they have to do is climb from the pit. Any sort of monster from a demon to a shape changer can be sent here.



Demi-gods
Sometimes, just sometimes, do the gods and goddesses have a little romantic fun with a mortal. The product of such things is called a demigod. These were much more common in Grecian times than they are now.
