āHi, my name is Kalin, what is your name? Your room is 311. I'm a demon, what are you?Okay, too many questions. First your name. The second question is optional.ā
āEr, hello,ā Managed Brandr, āMy name is Brandr, and Iām what humans call a fire giant. What is your name?ā
Brandr flinched when a sudden movement caught his eye, and turned to see a boy jumping out of the damaged window. It looked like another student, so Brandr relaxed as the boy walked towards him. Unlike the energetic girl that was so quick to greet him, this boy was rather nervous. Brandr found this behavior a little odd, since in his experience timid people donāt often jump out of windows.
āHi.... My name's Kevin, are you here to attend the academy?ā
āIndeed I am. My name is Brandr, and Iām pleased to meet you.ā He smiled and held out a hand in friendship in an attempt to calm Kevin. āI hope I didnāt scare you.ā

Brandr tried to think of the best way to apologize to everyone, but his mind started to panic when he saw how unstable the crowd of students were before him. Especially that one girl, who seemed to be slowly developing canine features. Oh no, please donāt tell me sheās a shapeshifter, thought Brandr, And it looks like sheās becoming some sort of wolf. Brandr knew just how powerful shapeshifting magic could be, and transforming into a wolf form is a sure sign of a strong combatant.
Since he focusing his attention to the shapeshifter girl, Brandr failed to notice the arrival of the blue haired boy with horns on his head. Brandr also failed to notice how the boy was boiling in anger. By the time Brandr noticed the fireball, it was already too late to do anything.
The fireball hit Brandr square in the chest, and the force of the impact was so strong that it pushed him back a few feet before Brandr could catch his footing. The front of his shirt was immediately incinerated from the blast, and the rest of it was engulfed in flames. In less than a minute, there wouldnāt be any shirt left.
As a fire giant, being set on fire wasnāt a problem. Had it been any other element, Brandr would have been toast. Brandrās already panicky mind was now suffering a dose of confusion, but all Brandr could think about was to protect his duffle bag from the flames. He knelt to the ground and focused his mind entirely to putting out the flames on his duffle bag.
By the time he put the fire out, a wall of ice magically appeared between him and his attacker. He didnāt see who was responsible for this, but it looked like the shapeshifter girl was regaining control of herself with the help of a fellow student. The blue-haird boy was now on his knees, and apologizing to everyone. Brandr didnāt quite know what just happened, but he was glad it was over before it escalating into a brawl. The shapeshifter girl was now barking out orders, and everyone seemed to be following them.
As the last bits of Brandrās shirt burnt away, a student with his shirt in tatters approached him:
ā I understand that it wasn't your intentions to bring harm, but one thing you've got to understand is that some people don't have the best control. You'll have to come with us, mate.ā
āIāll try to remember that, and thanks for the help,ā said Brandr as he slung his duffle bag over his shoulder. Noticing the condition of the boyās shirt, he added, āLooks like you had a bad day too.ā
Brandr patiently waited for the tattered-shirt boy and the shapeshifter girl to get ready. He considered removing the boulder from the hallway and putting it back outside, but decided against it. He had already thrown one too many boulders today.
((OOC: I may not be on tomorrow due to phone issues. I do hope so tho.))
As Ouka stumbled in the hallway, her breath became more labored. But she saw the Office. "Almost there." she whispered.
Brandrās memory was still a little fuzzy about what exactly happened while he was on fire, but since Kalin was playfully climbing all over him, it seemed everything was all right now. As she hopped off his back, Brandr turned his attention to the shapeshifter girl and the boy in the tattered shirt.
āMy name is Ouka Frostfang by the way. What is yours?ā
āMy name is Brandr, and Iām thankful for your help earlier.ā His attention turned to the boy in the tattered clothes, āAnd might I ask what is your name?ā Unfortunately Brandr had a poor sense in timing, as the student he was addressing was now in the form of a giant hybrid wolf. āOh,ā said Brandr, āI guess you canāt talk while in that form.ā Turning back to Ouka, Brandr asked, āPerhaps you could tell me what his name is?ā
Two shapeshifters? This is pretty amazing, thought Brandr, They seem to have trouble controlling their powers, but shapeshifting magic is very powerful. Iām glad I didnāt get into a fight with them. They both seem to prefer wolf-forms, but I wonder how many other shapes they can assume.
As the three of them walked down the hall, Brandr was very aware ā and slightly uneasy ā about the ice forming around Ouka. She knows ice magic too? Just how talented are these people? Well the student that attacked me earlier knew fire magic, so I guess ice magic isnāt so out of place. I think I need to be more careful around here.
Brandr couldnāt take it any longer. The question had been nagging him for a while, and he just had to know. āI donāt want to be rude, but how did the two of you learn shapeshifting magic?ā
The change took on suddenly; a deafening roar was heard along with the sickening snapping of bone as they broke and extended. Fur grew and skin fell away. Her fangs extended in her wolfish maw. The only thing that remained white was the bangs of her hair. A blast of cold air was felt in the halls. Ouka's fur was fully black unlike the wolf form she could change into at will. This creature was a beast and as soon as it had control it let out an ear splitting howl. It whimpered in it's prison but began charging at the ice walls. They held fast and would hold until another teacher came. It was a going to be a long second day.
Brandr turned to the hybrid wolf-boy for help. In a somewhat panicked voice, he said, āSo I donāt know if you are a shapeshifter or a berserker like Ouka, but you seem to be able to control your powers much better than she can. I need you to help calm her down as best you can while I go get help.ā
Brandrās feet thundered against the floor as he sprinted down the hallway, looking for anyone with the appearance of a teacher. Besides, he added to himself, Itās not like the wolf-boy could ask people for help in that form. That, and Iād be at a severe disadvantage if she used any ice magic. If only I learned some fire magic before I left Muspelheim, then Iād at least be able to negate any harmful ice magicā¦
Slowing down to allow a new thought to enter his head, Brandr felt like a complete idiot. He changed directions and sprinted towards the classrooms. Not only would a teacher be there, but also the one person that would be perfect for this dilemma.
āWhere is that blue-haired kid!?ā
Ouka still struggled to gain control of the beast. "Back down!" She commanded the beast. "I will have control." She needed something to distract it maybe then she could regain control. Maybe even master this beast.
Ouka heard the woman faintly in her conscious. She let the beast have control and watched as it devoured the woman's hand whole. She saw her moment when the beast began to feel funny. In essence, she felt funny as well but it gave her an opportunity to wrestle the beast down. As the beast crashed though the barrier and skidded to the next wall, Ouka was able to force the beast down into her subconsciousness.
Ouka, now in control of her beastly form, let out a victorious howl and collapsed in the corner. Her form remained of the beast but at least it was not going to hurt anyone. She whined pitifully as she lay on the ground.
I feel like thereās something missing, he thought to himself. Something that I should have remembered but forgottenā¦ As Brandr tried to re-ignite his memory, he let his gaze wander around the room. Eventually it wandered to his reflection in a nearby window, which upon seeing it reminded Brandr that he was topless. Oh, I guess I never replaced the shirt that got incinerated. He almost chuckled from thinking how silly heād been running around all this time without his shirt on. Luckily he still had his duffle bag with him, so he unzipped it and took out a new shirt.
When he finished putting the shirt on, he walked over to the two teachers. āExcuse me, hello. Iām Brandr Svartgeirson and I just arrived at the Academy today. Before Ouka went berserk we were just on our way to tell the Headmaster that Iām in trouble for unintentionally breaking a window and injuring a student.ā With a smile, he added, āI thought I should let you know that.ā
Brandrās thoughts drifted towards the student he injured. Sheās with the school nurse, he thought to himself, So Iām sure sheāll be fine. Though I should probably go see her myself and apologize. With that final thought, Brandr found himself before the door of Headmaster Auberonās office. Holding back his strength, Brandr gently knocked on the door.
Brandr paused when he found himself before the broken window, the floor still covered in bits of wood and broken glass. I should probably get this cleaned up in case someone else gets hurt, he thought, and ten minutes later Brandr was able to locate a janitorās closet and acquired himself a broom. Sweeping up the mosaic of broken glass, Brandr's mind was filled with images of the hurt girl and sad regret.
When the hallway was suitably devoid of glass, Brandr picked up the boulder and ā without throwing the boulder at all ā slowly carried the boulder with both hands down the hallway and headed outside. It was time to return the boulder to itās appropriate environment.
