Forest watched as Jacob and 'Vinny' fought it out. Seemed she had at least been able to change the subject, as Jacob turnedto her and told her his power was "sort of a water-affinity type power," and that 'Vinny' had, "Fire!" Forest grinned at the two boys hopefully playful arguing. "Hey, 'Vinny'," she said with a small smirk. Just then a boy walked in -well rather, was forced in by guards - looking very confused.
"Umm hello may i ask what is this place? What are we doing here?"
Jacob answered before Forest could put in the little information she knew.
"Oh, you don't know yet...Well, I'm sorry to inform you, but you are currently in Black Rock Desert, Nevada. We're underground right now, and you were probably brought in here for more tests or experiments, assuming you come from another laboratory. My name's Jacob, I kinda like Jake better, and this is my brother Vinn-I mean, Vincent. This is our friend Forest, and that girl over there is Payson. We're all subjects here, er, patients..." Forest didn't miss the annoyed glance Vincent gave Jake, and vaguely wondered what that was about.
"Subjects," Forest said, slightly more forcefully than she intended. "Not patients. Subjects. Patients makes it sound like we need fixing." Forest crossed her arms. "I was perfectly fine the way I was before." She mumbled the last part, in fear of someone overhearing them.
Vincent walked off after murmuring something that Forest couldn't make out.
"Yuji," the boy said. "This place is similar to the last lab I was at when it comes to the building structure although the staff seems to be a little hostile..."
"You get used to it..." Forest said grimly. She thought about it for a second. "Well, sort of. And you were at a lab before this?" That sounded... unusual. Was that normal in this place? The boy turned his head to look at a girl that had fallen. He looked upset. That's life... Forest thought, mentally rolling her eyes. Why worry over someone you don't even know? She shook her head. He obviously does know her. You retard.
"One second I'll be right back, oh and thanks for the intro, hope we can be good friends," Yuji said, giving Forest a wink. Forest blushed slightly and gave him a small smile in return.
"Did I miss fun happy play time or is it just recess for the young an retarded?"
Forest swivelle her head to see who had spoken. "Young and retarded? And fun happy play time?! Do you not know where we..." Forest trailed off as she spotted the tall, red haired man who had joined their group. Her eyes widened as she took him in. He... isn't bad looking, she noted.
"Welcome to hell new comers, I am not sad to say I doubt many of you will last long enough to really get to know someone. Jacob, come on you've been here long enough to not be instilling hope into these young ones."
"New comers? I've been here for..." Forest thought about it for a second. "Well, I'm not sure. Since I was young, anyway."
"They call me guy, I've been here longer than I can literally remember. Odds are I'll see you die here, but hey, thats our lot in life isn't it?" the man continued, seemingly oblivious to the fact that Forest had spoken. Forest gritted her teeth at his last comment. Unfortunately, yes... she thought. "Guy? Creative," she commented.
"It's fine, Guy. Better to tell them anyways so they know what to expect," Jacob piped in. Not like I was expecting anything better from his shit hole anyway, Forest thought to herself.
"Forest, inner beast, Payson, fish hybrid," he continued. Yes. That was smart, letting a Beta, according to 'Guy' know my power. Aren't they pretty much the best of the best? And the goody-two-shoes... she thought. And I told him I thought about escaping. Amn't I clever?
"This is Guy, oldest of the subjects," Jake said.
Forest raised an eyebrow, pretending not to be impressed. Oldest of the subjects...? Woah. How long has he been able to live in this Hell Hole?
"Oldest of subjects...You make it sound like a grand title or something. The only thing 'special' about me is that they can't seem to kill me. Not that it doesn't hurt everytime." Guy gave a sigh, and Forest turned to look at him again. Woah.. he is freakin' gorgeous. She felt a twinge of sympathy as he said "Not that it doesn't hurt everytime." What a messed up life they all had.
"Just like that incident with your brother, took me weeks to get all my skin back. I'll pretend to be interested, Forest and Payson is it? Charmed I'm sure." So Vincent was Jake's brother. Weeks to get his skin back? Why would any Subject do that to another one? The Scientists were the enemy! "Very charmed," Forest said sarcastically, silently hoping he couldn't read her mind or something.
