A small town

Tori sighed. "But... I can tell you're sad... I feel it... I haven't been around many people so I can't tell much anything..." she looked down, even though she couldn't see. She only wanted to make friends. She sniffled and rubbed her eyes.

"Don't cry please.... It's just... I want to be your friend..." He looked down pathetically.

Good, she was distracted by that other boy. He pressed his palms into his eyes for a few seconds, letting out a sigh. Okay, now, think. What was going on? He was in a hospital. He was playing with a blind girl. There was another boy, with breathing problems. His markings were fine and clear. He had his toga. He had his marker. Good, good, the world was right. Opening his eyes again, and blinking, he looked down. All these tissues everywhere. Someone could slip. He started picking up the white fabrics, one by one, his tongue sticking out slightly. One, two, three, four...

Tori smiled sadly. "Then just say so! I can't see body language or read minds..." she held out the blindfold she had given him. "So... You'll have to bare with me..."

He grabbed the blindfold and hugged her tight. "Thank you..." He sheds another tear.

Tori tensed before gently pulling Jalen off her. "Your welcome..." she muttered and stood up. She pulled her cloak closer around her. "Sorry, but I've always hated being touched...." she sighed softly and offered to help Jalen up.

"Oh.... Sorry... Here....." Jalen pulls a hospital glove out of his pocket and hands it to Tori. "Now... We can... hold hands....?"

Tori looked confused. "Hold hands...? Why would we do that..?" she asked tilting her head like a dog's. She didn't understand it. The only time she's held hands with anyone was when she was being led around the hospital for the first time.
