Born just outside Miami, Carter is the definition of a beach kid who comes alive in the summer. A pair of sunglasses are always somewhere one him, or at least is each reach, and a pair of flip flops on his feet. Eternally casual, Carter wouldn't know how to dress more fancy than a pair of jeans. The move away from Miami has been hard on him, but he's stuck it out and it stubborn about battling through the colder weather in shorts and t-shirts.
HERO UNIFORM
Considering Carter's wide range of abilities depending on what animal he chooses to take on, his uniform is rather unexciting. Pant and a long sleeve top, colored mostly black with a bit of grey. His uniform is lightly armored for his protection against attacks, it is also lightweight and flexible to allow him to him ample agility and speed. It also has two metal studs in the inside of the forearms, this mechanism though rarely used, sends a shock through his uniform which helps him snap back focus and control when he starts losing himself to animal instincts.

Carter can borrow animals traits and abilities for a time. This includes the internal processes like, the senses or camouflage, as well as other traits such as stamina, strength or weight. Meaning that, at will, can he run as fast as a cheetah, or track with the senses of a dog, or even borrow the balance and agility of a cat for a time. However Carter cannot just cherry pick the attributes and abilities he wants and ignore the rest. The bad traits and weaknesses of the animals come along too, like some animals being territorial, dogs chasing cars, or cats hating water. Whenever he is using his abilities is constantly resisting the animal's instincts and the longer he channels an animal the less control he has over the animal. If he tries to hold the connection to longer he is in danger of losing out control all together.
His ability does has limitations despite his best efforts to overcome them. He can't physically shape shift into different animals, so any animal ability that is reliant on their physical form is incredibly difficult for Carter to mimic. For example, flying like a bird is out of the question as he is severely lacking in wings, and breathing underwater is something beyond Carter's current abilities.

Carter is the type of person who can't walk away from a competition, bet or challenge. He just can't. He's the most competitive bastard in all of the Hero Service, always turning everything into a competition, and I do mean everything. He thrives on the thrill of competing, and doesn't understand why he'd bother doing something he can't win at.
This makes him a very passionate person. Carter hates half-hearted attempts, and doesn't understand the concept of not giving it your best all the time. Though this also means that he won't do anything he's not passionate about, even washing dishes needs to be made into a competition for Carter to do them. He is passionate about lots of stuff though, so he gets worked up and is easily excited. He tends to get into 'coach mode', and tries to instill his passion for top effort into everyone else.
Confidence comes easy for Carter. He may make everything into a challenge, and can't walk away from a competition, but he's a good sport about it. He's a humble winner, and an easy going loser. So long as he did his best, he's not fussed either way. It's the competing not the winning that draws his interest. Though this means he gets easily frustrated by other's lack of effort, he thinks everyone should always be doing their best all the time like him.

From the moment he could walk he was just labelled as athletic and that was all. When he could jump high enough to dunk a basketball, well, they figured that his father did play college basketball. When he was the faster runner in the state, no one bat an eye, he was just talented and overly competitive.
Needless to say at age 15, when testing was done and truth came out, Carter, his two sisters and his parents were all shocked to discover that there was more than just athletic ability running through Carter's veins. In a small town news travels fast, so Carters powers didn't stay a secret for long. Now, being a small town, everyone knew everyone, and Carter the sports star was their golden boy who won everything. So when news of his powers came out, they didn't take it super well. They understood that he hadn't mean to cheat them, but it wasn't fair to the other kids to let him continue. So Carter was politely asked to leave sports teams and not participate fully in sports days at school, there wasn't the same thrill to it anyway knowing that he had an unfair advantage.
