As each moment passed, he plucked up the courage to get a little closer. With each silent step, he could make out a bit more detail of her--a curl that was tighter than the rest, maybe a freckle or two...
'snap!'
A twig had broken underfoot. The very noise had startled a group of birds sitting too close to him. They had all taken off at once, causing him to lose his guard and footing. His heavy body fell hard against the jungle floor.

She blushed and covered her eyes sputtering out an apology and clumsily backing away from him.
"I-I didn't know there was any one else out here. I am so sorry..I will be leaving now," she said, making to turn around and leave.

She turned on her heel and quickly covered her eyes. Quick words came from her lips that he had once heard before. Struggling to make them out, the jungle man stood there dumbfounded. She had spoken his language...but...
Opening his mouth, he croaked a response. It was unintelligible, as he expected. Stomping the ground in his frustration, he tried again. There was a word. A simple word. Trying as hard as he might, the man tried to recall this word. It wasn't quite a word of fondness but it was often spoken between those that were just like him...
"H-he...llo..." It was extremely broken, for his poor attempt. Nevertheless, he was pleased that he could remember it. His bit of happiness showed from his grin and behind his eyes. He had done something important! He hoped.

"H-hello," she stuttered, stepping toward him she offered her sarong to him. "Wear this," she said quietly as not to startle the man.
Her voice was soft and soothing like the tinkling of bells, and she had a smooth English accent.

Then it occurred to him what she had wanted. Oh. There was some sort of unspoken rudeness about walking around so comfortably like this in her culture. That was probably why he had once worn clothes at one point before. Taking the sarong, he did manage to wrap it around his waist and tie it up without any further instruction. When he had finished, he had made a sound of accomplishment and flashed a smile to her.

"...Abigail..." Hearing it spoken, he could repeat the word easier. He was quite aware of her name and with effort, he tried to introduce himself. "O...oleh...Oler...v..." With that effort made, the dark man gave up and moved onto the next point of conversation.
Was this place his home? As a child, he remembered his family being pleasantly angry and drinking quite a bit. Was that place his home? Or was this? He had family here. Children he took care of. And since he didn't know how to disagree...
"Home," he agreed after some though, eyes darting up to the canopy.

When he told her that this was his home she looked a little shocked, but was more interested than anything. A tinge of concern bubbled in her chest for the strange man. It was clear that he needed a shower, and perhaps a shave, and it occurred to her that if he didn't have access to supplies to clean himself he probably didn't have shelter either.

As she looked away, he looked down at himself to figure out what bit of her culture he had offended this time. When he couldn't find anything wrong, Oliver started making different guesses. Maybe she was tired? Tilting his head, he looked at her as if to ask 'what's wrong?' As her concerned eyes looked him over, he was doing the same back.
After all, she was out here with probably no real preparation of jungle life. Obviously, there weren't any people out here. Just monkeys and a couple of things that would try to eat you if you weren't careful. Poisonous spiders. Snakes... How was she surviving? Someone who just appeared right out of the blue?

"Just paper, pencils, and a couple of compasses, nothing you need to worry about big guy," she laughed, snapping the bag closed after a few moments.
After a long walk, they ended up at her camp site. Three tents, some tables littered with drawings, and a big fire pit were haphazardly placed about the site. There was a wash bin in one tent, a sleep quarters in another, and she wasn't quite sure what the third was for, but she had it anyways.
"Well, here it is. This is my home for the next month," she said, stepping to the side so that he can explore.

As they entered the camp, he took a moment to gaze at what was there. Abigail had a lot of things. More things than he ever remembered seeing. Perhaps she was safe at her little campsite after all. When she had stepped aside, he continued to walk closer into the camp. Oliver was a tad bit on-guard, jolting as he came close to each tent and cautiously peeking in.
As he came to explore the table with drawings, he tilted his head. Was this the sort of things she was interested in? He looked up at her and pointed at the images.

gorillas eating fruit and said, "I drew this yesterday evening, right before bed."
She proceeded to show him other drawings of birds and jungle flowers She also showed him some of the maps she created. Standing on her tip toes she grabbed a cord that was above the table. A large drawing of the jungle--his jungle--was sketched upon it, though it was hardly finished.

As he was shown the maps, his dark eyes studied the positions. When the large unfinished image of his jungle had blossomed before his eyes, he took a breath. "Camp," Oliver said clearly, pointing to an image a rough sketch in their area. Without touching the image, he followed his finger upstream and drew a circle in an black area. "Home."

She smiled when he pointed to the camp and nodded her head saying, "Indeed."
Her eyes widened a little when he pointed to his home. She hadnt traveled that far yet, afraid of getting lost in the jungle. Another explanation of why she hadn't ran into the jungle man before.
She quickly wrote his name above the blackened area, making a mental note to travel there sometime soon.
"Will you take me to home?" she asked, placing her hand next to his on the map.

"Yes," he said, after thinking hard on the words he spoke. "My family. Here." Scrunching his hands together, an effort to show her what the creatures were, Oliver explained. "Small. Happy..." How exactly would he explain what his family was?

She scrunched her face up in thought, trying to figure out the animal he was talking about.

Though he could see that Abigail was not making heads or tails of his explanation. Instead of using English, he swapped out into another language entirely. Crouching his back, he looks up at the blonde and made a few high-pitched grunts, oohs, and whistles.
"Mn-un...k..." He began again, attempting to communicate.

"You sir, smell positively awful and need a shave desperately," she laughed when he put her down.
She thought a few more moments and finally said, "Monkeys?"

"Monkeys!" He said. She guessed right again.

"I didn't mean to make you feel badly. I was simply making an observation I mean, you've been out here for so long it's a wonder that you haven't learned to talk like a monkey," she said with a tinkering laugh. Realizing she still wasn't wearing anything on her bottom besides her bathing suit she excuses herself momentarily and went into the biggest of all the tents. She came back out with a pair of shorts on and her blonde hair was now tied up out of her face, leaving her tan, rounded cheeks exposed to the setting sun.
Her blue eyes reflected the reds and oranges of dusk, the colorful rays making her blonde hair glow softly. She held her hand out again and motioned toward a smaller tent saying, "Come here, we will get you cleaned up."

A bit more caution was put with his movements as his curiosity began to falter over his fear. Abigail was harmless. And they were both humans, after all--even though he didn't understand her much. Nevertheless, the jungle man had wanted to please her. He had wanted to communicate a bit more with her--using words that she knew to express what he had meant.
Cautiously, he had taken her open hand and allowed her to take him into the tent.

"Don't be scared," she said in a soothing tone, smiling at him gently. He reminded her of a frightened but curious child, she didn't want to push him too far but she couldn't stand to see a man in such horrible conditions. She was determined to clean him up, at least a little. She let his hand go, gently pushing him into a sitting position.
Slowly, as not to frighten him, the blonde girl took a warm cloth and wiped off his filthy hands. From the position she was in, she seemed even more vulnerable. Almost like if he moved the wrong way she would shatter into a million little pieces. She looked up at him with kind eyes and smiled reassuringly before wringing the cloth and wiping gently at his shoulders and face.
