A Seer torn between living a normal life, and admitting that what she's experiencing is more than a hallucination.
Harper is an imaginative girl, who spends most of her days creating vivid stories in her head. She hopes to one day become an acclaimed lyricist, and share her poetry with the world, although sheās afraid that perhaps her lyrics may be too dark for most peopleās taste. Sheās a loving individual, who would do most anything in order to keep her loved ones safe. Sheās in constant fear of being alone, especially at night, because of the horrifying creatures she sees day by day. Sheās also fearful of disappointing others, and strives to make others happy in any way she can. Occasionally, this urge to please gets her into trouble, as she will inconvenience herself for another personās sake.
Harper has been able to see the Skol all her life, and because of this she has always harbored a terrible fear of being alone in dark places. Over the years, sheās grown accustomed to the creatures showing themselves periodically, although their presence always unsettles her. However, as long as they remain within her line of vision, and donāt approach her, she is able to quietly endure their visits, without arousing suspicion to those around her.
As a child, Harper never had many friends, as most of the other children found her strange. Because of this, sheād often play alone, creating intricate stories, and acting them out to a crowd of her stuffed animals. She was happy enough, although she always wished that sheād be able to find a friend who understood her, and could take part in her games. This wish was finally granted when, at the age of eight, Harper met Cael.
The movie āGreaseā was Harperās current obsession at this age, and in turn, most of her play periods consisted of her dressing in a poodle skirt her mother had purchased for Halloween, and dancing around with her favorite stuffed bear, (who had originally been named Teddy, but had been rechristened as Danny after Harper watched the movie) singing lyrics from the film. One day, she was interrupted during one of these dance sessions, by the appearance of Cael. Initially she was immensely terrified by his otherworldly appearance, but after realizing that he had the ability to banish the Skol that had been lingering around her, and had no intention of harming her, she began to relax in his presence. The boy seemed oddly curious of her actions, but didnāt appear to find her eccentric, which was a first for Harper. When he inquired whom she would most like to see, she immediately replied with a photo of Danny Zuko, curious as to why a boy sheād only just met would ask such a thing.
To her utter surprise, a moment later the boyās frightening appearance had disappeared, and in its place, he now resembled a greaser from the 1950ās. She was both shocked and thrilled at the boyās ability to change his appearance, and from then on he became her regular playmate. A few months later, after discovering that the boy had never received a birthday present, Harper presented him with her bear, Danny, asking him to accept the gift. To her pleasure, Cael took the bear, promising to keep it forever.
She was immensely excited to have a friend, but as the months passed, Harper discovered that oftentimes, their games would become rather violent in nature. During cops and robbers, Cael would often tie her hands too tightly, leaving behind bruises.
Over time, Harperās parents became worried when their daughter would come home with these marks on her skin, and their concerns were only heightened when she informed them that Cael was the one who had given them to her, as they had never seen this boy she spoke of, and had deduced that he was an imaginary friend of hers.
Everything changed the day when, during a game of doctor, Harper informed Cael that her arm had been broken, and she needed him to fix it. With a sly smirk, the boy glanced up at Harper, asking her if she wanted to make the game more exciting. Before she had a chance to inquire what heād meant by the question, Cael had taken her arm into his hands, and with a quick flick of his wrists, heād easily cracked one of her bones.
Harperās parents rushed into her room when she began to scream, asking what had happened. Crying from fear and pain, Harper pointed at Cael. Her parents could see no one inside the room with her, and after taking her to the hospital to have her arm set, they began admitting her to a weekly session with a psychologist, in hopes that it would put an end to her vivid apparitions. Although Harper was still able to see the Skol, she never saw Cael again after that day.
Even now, Harper still sees a psychologist, although her visits have been switched to only one session a month. She has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and is meant to take medication to help with her āhallucinationsā, although Harper rarely takes the pills, as they make her feel as though sheās living life behind a veil. Nothing she experiences feels as potent when sheās under the influence of the medication, and the creatures still haunt her even when sheās taken the pills.
She lives with Liam in his apartment, and is employed at a local coffee shop. Sheās exceedingly content with their simple life, and loves Liam with all her heart. She would do anything for him, and they plan to become married once they generate enough funds for the wedding.
