Description

Amara Satou

Image

Name: Amara "Mara" Satou
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Lesbian

Image

Personality: Mara is the type to not wear her emotions on her face when out and about. She has a critical and analytical gaze that often gives off a cold or intimidating presence to those who don't know better, which in the past has lead people to be afraid of approaching her. However, those who make an effort to move past this small barrier find a kind and warm girl who often puts the happiness of others before her own. Though she has few close friends, Mara cherishes them dearly and always seeks to see a smile on their faces. Mara is truly herself when in private, an energetic and cheery girl who might even seem a bit immature at times.
Workplace: Mara works part-time at the Black Cat cafe, the same cafe she's worked at for nearly three years now. It's a pretty small place near a bad part of town which occasionally gets some bad attention from the local gangs. Despite this Mara enjoys working there, the staff and usual customers are pleasant people and it truly makes her happy to see people enjoy the food she had a hand in making.
Job: Waitress, cook, baker, she does just about everything around the cafe.
Likes: Good food, the rain, cute girls, manga, cooking/baking, cold drinks
Dislikes: Hot weather, bullies, dogs, bars
Fears: Dogs, being alone
Others: She's currently attending culinary school in hopes of one day opening up her own bakery/coffee-house. She also enjoys using her friends to taste test her various experiments in the kitchen which tend to range from delicious to... Strange.

Mara stretched as she made her way back from the local super market, a few plastic bags in hand full of various ingredients. It was a nice enough day, sunny but not too hot. It wasn't long before she had made her way back to the apartment building, Oh yeah... I think Quin was moving in today wasn't he? I'm sure Art's gonna be happy, hehe. Maybe I should bake him a welcome cake or something. Finally she arrived at the door to her and Effy's apartment. With a big grin she swung the door open dramatically.

"I'm home my darling!" She smiled over at Effy before moving to the kitchen to put away the groceries. "Quin's moving in today, you wanna go over and help him move some stuff in? Was thinking about baking him something as a sort of welcoming gift." After she had emptied the bags she had brought in, she walked over to where Effy was sitting.

Stephanie's head turned to the door as Amara came in, immediately blushing at her greeting, the corners of her lips curving up into a smile. She stood as Amara came towards her, nodding enthusiastically. "I really want to go. I was just worried about whether or not he would, erm, be there..." She said, looking to the ground. "But we should go! I want to go see Quin's new apartment. And you should make something for him. Just don't, um, experiment, with the cake, okay?" She said, smiling slightly up to her girlfriend. She remembered the last time Amara tried to experiment with her cooking, most the time it turned out fine, but that time was one of the times that her dishes just tasted off, and Stephanie, being the polite girlfriend she was, ate the whole dish, only to get sick from eating too much of it. She took Amara's hand, a rather bold move for her, tugging on it slightly, "Come on, let's go..." She whined quietly, unintentionally pouting up to Amera, if she intentionally pouted her whole face would grow red from embarrassment.

Mara glanced to the side briefly, "Tch." But she quickly turned her attention back to Effy, "Of course I wouldn't experiment on his welcoming present, don't be ridiculous!" That was a lie, she really was considering it. "But, I think a cake might take a little too long, plus I wouldn't want to spoil them." She gave a smirk and tapped her chin in thought, I could make cookies I guess, it'd be quicker and I probably have the ingredients on hand, sure it's simple but they're always delicious! Her little reverie was interrupted as she felt Effy's warm hand on her own. She looked down at her pleading face with a smile, "Oho, it must be my lucky day if you're being so affectionate." Mara moved to interlock her fingers with Effy's before bringing their hands up and planting a soft kiss on the back of Effy's hand. "C'mon, let's go, maybe if we're quick we can catch them doing something indecent, hehe."

And with that she gently led Effy along out of their apartment and towards Art's and Quin's. She gave a few knocks on their door. "Open up! Unless you're doing something intimate, in which case I'll just let myself in."

Steph smiled slightly as she could see Mara in thought as she grabbed her hand, looking to the ground as Mara kissed her hand. Effy couldn't help but shake her head in disgust at the thought of her friends doing anything particularly naughty, she didn't quite need that image in her head. Stephanie smiled as she was lead to her friend's apartment, standing at the door and laughing slightly at what Amara said, but quickly attempted to put on a stern face, but a smile still graced her features, "Don't say that, how would you feel if they did that to us when we do... Never mind." She said quickly, blushing as she looked to the door, still holding Mara's hand in hers. "Don't think anything dirty... it was just a what if situation..." she explained slowly, trying to choose her words more carefully this time.

Quincey shrugged, "I do walk everywhere, that probably helps some." It was true since the accident Quincey hadn't been in a car. He had told his friends that he wanted to get his strength back, but he was really just scared. As he was opening the next box of books he heard a voice from the hallway. "Open up! Unless you're doing something intimate, in which case I'll just let myself in." Quincey looked at Art, he had been in a goofy mood all day. "If that's what they think we're doing, lets make it look like we were!" Without waiting for an answer Quincey took his shirt off and tossed it on the floor where you could see it from the door, then he undid his belt but left it on, and finally he messed up his hair so it looked even messier than normal. He thought about pouncing Art and taking his shirt off for him, but decided against it. He went to the door and opened it. As he thought is was Mara and Effy. He leaned against the doorway. "We're a little busy right now. Could you come back in an hour?" he said in a completely serious voice.

She chuckled and shrugged before she replied to Effy. "I wouldn't mind, not like they'd be interested in anything we'd be doing. Plus, I'm just joking, I wouldn't want to interrupt their fun." After a few moments of wait the door finally opened, Quin stood there with his shirt off and his belt undone. Mara smirked, "It's alright, you two can just get back at it and we'll help move your stuff in. We'll make sure not to go into the bedroom." She decided to call Quin's bluff as she took a peek inside the apartment to see if she couldn't spot Art somewhere.

Chris had just gotten off work and into his car when he remembered that Quin was moving in today. He was excited to see his friend and practically sped to the apartment complex, slowing down a bit when he remembered that he had his critter pack containing a precious baby animal in it.. Once there he rushed up to Quins new apartment, with his critter pack secured tightly to himself, seeing Amara and stephanie standing in the doorway, it seemed like art was inside because Quin was standing at the door with his shirt off and his belt undone. He knew it must have been a joke " Well, it's nice to see you again Quin" Chris said as he walked up next to amara and stephanie, giving the two a wave and a smile.

Art sat up quickly on the bed as he heard Amara's voice through the walls. Before he could even open his mouth to reject Quin's little plan, Art was already looking to the bare torso of his boyfriend, instantly blushing, distracted for a moment as he practically gawked over Quin. As Art finally snapped out of it, it was already too late, Quin was at the door. Art hurried to get out of the bed, scrambling to his feet, in the process falling to the ground. He shot back up, running to the door, horrified at the fact that now three of his friends stood before him. "Nothing's happening! We were just hanging around, nothing intimate, I swear!" He said, noticing Effy glancing down at his wardrobe, looking down himself, his shirt messed up, being slightly raised to show some skin, and he could already feel that his glasses were crooked on his face, and with his luck his hair was tousled as well, his appearance not backing up his story. "Okay it isn't what it looks like at all!" He frowned, blushing darkly as he struggled to explain the truth to his friends.

Stephanie couldn't help but feel sympathy for Art, god knows she would be acting the same way if she was in his shoes. She looked Art up and down as he said they hadn't been doing anything, it certainly didn't look like nothing was going on, but Effy would never say that out loud. The quiet girl giggled slightly as Art was blushing, trying to end her friend's suffering by speaking up, "Well if that's the case, Amara promised to make a cake, so she really should get started on that. Isn't that right Amara?" Effy looked up to Mara, smiling sweetly, knowing that the girl promised no such thing. "And I promise not to help." Effy added, recalling the several times she did try to help Amara bake, all of them either ending in Effy making a big mistake or the two girls just playing and kissing, making no progress on any kind of treats.

Quincey was very amused by his flustered boyfriend. For some reason he just loved messing with Art. When Effy mentioned something about cake, he practically started drooling. "Cake? Count me in!" he said excitedly. Just then some random person walked by, giving the five wierd looks. It did look odd, five young adults standing in the doorway to an apartment, one of which was half naked. "I'm gonna go put my shirt back on." he said pointing at the bedroom. He went around the box he tripped on before, only to trip on another one. Again he hit the ground, face first. He got to his feet, picked up the box, and started shaking it. "Why do you hate me so much?" he asked the box. He put the box back on the floor, then went and put his shirt back on. He went back to his friends and sighed. Why did he have to be cursed with such clumsiness?

Mara sighed, "Hey now, I never promised a cake. Cake'd be too good for these fools. They'll get some cookies but that's it." She gave a smirk and stepped into the apartment, chuckling as Quin fell face first onto the floor, this was a fairly common occurrence but it still entertained Mara to no end. "Buuut, if you really want a cake I can do that, but Effy has to help me." She gave a mischievous grin, knowing well that if she did try to help the cake might not turn out so great, or might not even get made at all. She took a few moments to look around the messy apartment. Reminds me of when me and Effy first moved in together... Wasn't too long ago really, but that was a fun time. Mara let out a contented sigh and leaned back against the wall. "So do you two need help moving anything?" She looked between Quin and Art as she asked.

"I'm here! I'm here!" Jess called as she saw the familiar group of friends standing a bit further down the hall. She was a bit disappointed that she was the last one to arrive, but thats her own fault, since she had forgotten the apartment number.
Jess ran right passed someone who gave her a weird-yet not too surprised- look, and automatically she explained that a friend of hers had moved in today, and she was excited to see him.
She spoke so fast that the words were jumbled and hard to understand.
"Nevermind." Jess said, flashing a smile

When she finally reached the group, she basically tackled everyone to give them hugs, stopped to give Chris a quick kiss, then burst into the apartment.
"I'm here!" She repeated, looking around. At that moment, Jess remembered that Indigo was in her hands, and she paused to make sure he was okay.

"You're going to love it here, Quin!" Jessica said, turning towards her friend once she was certain she hadn't scared her pet to death.

Art smiled graciously to Effy after she directed the attention away from him. "Cake sounds like a great idea!" Art exclaimed, smiling brightly. He blushed as he noticed a stranger giving them an odd look, tempted to shove his boyfriend into the apartment and lecture him on the reasons why people wore shirts. But Quin beat him too it, turning to go back into the bedroom to get a shirt, "Well, as wonderful as it must be in the hallway, why don't you all come on inside?" Art smiled, adjusting his glasses and motioning his friends inside. He walked further into the apartment, crossing the bedroom and practically having another panic attack as he saw Quin trip again. He'll admit that he had been used to Quin's clumsiness at one point, but ever since his accident, Art had been much more concerned about the boy's health, constantly worrying and not wanting him to feel pain of any kind. He knew he was being unreasonable, knew that this friends could probably see how increasingly worried he'd gotten, but he couldn't help it, he just wanted Quin to be safe. So naturally Art came to Quin's side again, trying his best to put on a smile, "You really need to watch you're step, Quin." he said, extending a hand towards him to help him up. He could hear the little comment Mara made, making him smiling a bit more genuinely, "You better help Effy, I want Cake!" Art took a second to think his statement over, "Well, help, but don't help, as long as I get cake." Art took a second to think about Amara's question, "I would ask Quin." He said, looking to his boyfriend with a smile.

Stephanie couldn't help but laugh a little at her clumsy friend, sticking right by Mara's side. She shook her head at Amara's little request, then smiling at Art's comment. "I'm not sure I want to, when you want me to help it normally means that you don't want to make a cake." Effy muttered, shaking her head. "Why can't you just make a cake yourself?" She questioned, frowning slightly. She looked to Jessica smiling brightly, latching herself onto her friend, "And besides, I wanted to talk with Jessica about girl stuff!" She argued, a small smile on her face, "We're gonna talk about you and Chris, right Jess?" She questioned, clearly just trying to get out of 'baking' with Amara. The last time they were all over at one friend's apartment and Effy and Amara were making a cake, their friends had walked in on a heavy makeout session. Steph got a little red just thinking about it.

Chris stepped into the apartment after Art invited them all in. Quin fell on his face and Chris and Art shared the same worried look. Chris' worried look faded when Art went to help Quin up. The group started talking about having cake, Chris nodded when Art said that cake sounded like a great idea. Though Stephanie didn't seem to want to help Amara make it.

"Why can't you just make a cake yourself?" She questioned, frowning slightly. She looked to Jessica smiling brightly, latching herself onto her friend, "And besides, I wanted to talk with Jessica about girl stuff!" She argued, a small smile on her face, "We're gonna talk about you and Chris, right Jess?"

"I'd help but we all know i can't bake to save my life..." Chris added. Chris was not good at baking...At all. He burned or undercooked everything he tried to bake.
Chris glanced at Stephanie when she said that she and jess were going to discuss Jess and himself. " whats there to talk about?...Other than that we have the best relationship ever!" he said Nudging Jess with his elbow and smiling widely at her.
" But seriously, someone needs to get to baking that cake." He said, his stomach grumbling in agreement.

"Nah I think we can handle it." If all six of them tried to unpack, it would never get done. Ever. The last time they tried it ended with all of them laughing so hard they couldn't breath. There was a lot of talk about cake, not making a cake, making a cake. Quincey loved anything to do with sugar, so all the talk about cake was making him hungry. "You know what we should do tonight? Get a bunch of beer and have a crappy movie marathon. I have my crappy movie collection." He nudged the box containing the movies with his foot. "The best part about the beer is that the more drunk we get the funnier the movies will be." Then Quincey remembered something, he had to work tomorrow. Oh well, he hoped his friends had forgotten.

Mara raised her arms in defeat. "Fine fine, if you all want a cake so bad I'll go get started... Feel free to visit since I'll be all alone over there." She gave a little smirk as she pushed off from the wall she was leaning on. She looked over at Quin and tapped her chin in thought, "Hm... That actually sounds pretty fun. But don't you work tomorrow? Guess that means no beer for you! Hehe." Mara spun on her heel to turn towards Effy, leaning down to plant a little kiss on her lips before heading towards the door. "Well, off I go! Try not to hurt yourself too badly Quin, okay?" Though she was teasing him about his clumsiness, she was also legitimately concerned about his well-being.

She hummed quietly to herself as she made her way back to her apartment and began preparations for the cake. "Spoiled brats! Sending me off to make them cake all by lonesome." She smirked a bit to herself, she wasn't really upset or anything. She rather liked baking, especially when it was for her friends.

Art smiled over to Quin, "That's a great idea! I love our movie nights! You have the best collection of bad movies, the horror might be my favorite though." he grinned, already getting to talking with his friends likely to not be quiet any time soon. When Amara brought up the fact that Quin had work tomorrow, Art smirked a little, having forgotten, "Oh that's right! Don't worry though we'll still have fun without the beer, ahh wait, correction, you'll still have fun, I got off work tomorrow so I suppose I can drink for the two of us." He laughed, turning to Chris. "And excuse you, but second best, we all know who's number one with there relationship." Art joked, winking to his friends as he sat on the arm of a recliner. He looked to Mara as she left, unable to help but gush slightly at the soft peck she gave Effy, leaving the girl blushing. He always thought the two couples his friends had made were so adorable, and of course he was always meddling in their relationships. So naturally when he saw that Effy simply stood there, not going after Amara to keep her company and be adorable together (which was really just what he wanted, not what he expected), he frowned slightly, standing from his seat to pull at Effy slightly, "Oh no, no, no, no, what kind of girlfriend is that, you've probably hurt Mara's feelings not going with her, now go after her and keep her company Effy." As he spoke he was pushing the girl towards the door, eventually leading her outside the apartment smiling brightly as he closed the door. He turned back to his friends, sitting back down in his seat, "Now one of two things is going to happen, they get all cuddly and adorable and come back thanking me and saying something along the lines of how amazing I am, or Mara's gonna come back and be mad at me for kicking her girlfriend out of the apartment." He smiled, for some reason just noticing the animals his two friends had brought along with them, "Oh, who are these two cuties?" He asked, looking to the animals, despite already knowing of Indigo.

Effy just rolled her eyes at Chris's comment, smiling slightly. Her smiled widened at Quincey's suggestion of a bad-movie marathon, nodding her approval. Normally she didn't like drinking, seeing as it made her more prone to be more suggestive and do things she would regret later, but she really needed some unwinding time and a fun night with her friends seemed like a great idea. As Mara was about to leave, she took Effy by surprise, kissing her lightly before leaving, making the girl blush. Before she could even bring herself to more embarrassing thoughts of other times Amara had surprised her with a kiss, Art was pulling her away from Jessica and towards the door, going off about Steph needing to keep Mara company. By the time she was out of the apartment, Stephanie was blushing a deep red, feeling as though the universe might be plotting against her. She was tempted to pound on the door until someone let her in, but there was already people watching, looking to the girl that had just been shoved out of an apartment. Stephanie quickly walked back to her's and Amara's apartment, quickly closing the door behind her before sighing in relief. She slowly made her way into the kitchen, smiling slightly as she saw Amara there. Effy silently walked further into the kitchen, lifting herself up to sit on one of the bare counter tops, swinging her feet slightly. "Arthur thought you might want company." She spoke quietly, smiling slightly. "So he made me come over here."

Chris rolled his eyes at Arts comment about having the best relationship.
"Movies sound fun enough, i get to work from home for a few days, and i don't drink so i'll be fine" he said with a grin. Chris hated the way alcohol tasted. He liked certain drinks though, mostly the ones that masked the taste of the alcohol that was in them.
Chris laughed as Art kicked Stephanie out of the apartment.

Well this is Kundi and Zuma" He said taking two very tiny 3 day old white tiger cubs out of his critter pouch. "They're very, very tiny for their age so they have to be constantly monitored by a human surrogate, to survive. " he said pulling out a pre made bottle of formula and began feeding the female cub.

Mara hummed quietly to herself as she worked. Hm... Maybe I'll make a red velvet cake. Pretty simple but they don't really know that, heh. She glanced over at Effy as she walked into the apartment and moved behind her to take a seat on an open counter top. "Hm... He -made- you huh? Are you saying you didn't want to then?" She smirked a bit to herself as she finished pulling out the necessary ingredients along with a few mixing bowls. "Well, this'll take about 25 minutes to bake once I get it ready, soooo... Once I get this in the oven we could head back over there if you want or we could stay here and mess around for a little while." She continued to hum to herself as she began to prepare the batter.

Art's small smile turned into a wide, excited smile, looking like a little boy as he stared in awe to the small cubs, "Aww, they're so adorable! No offence Indigo." Art smiled, petting the bearded dragon before turning back to the little tigers, "You know, I would totally love to have you're job... but then again I'm sure it requires a hell of a lot of patience, right? But I mean getting to see adorable little animals like this all day must be great!" Art smiled, already cooing at the little animals.

Effy shook her head quickly at Mara's question, "Well he did make me, kicked me out of the apartment actually, but I always want to be near you so I came here willingly, if that makes any sense..." She answered, blushing a little as her answer wasn't quite as clear as it was in her mind. "W-well don't you think that they'll be expecting us back? I mean, we shouldn't get carried away right?" She said, her nervousness evident in her voice. Stephanie did her best to shake it off, hopping off the counter to walk over to Mara, smiling as she hugged her from behind, having to stand on her tiptoes to peek over Amara's shoulder to the batter, "So what are you making?" She questioned, resisting the temptation to dip her finger in to taste and see for herself as she eyed the batter.

Chris laughed at Art's reaction to the tiger cubs." you can hold one if you want to, kundi, the male, need to be fed too. You could feed him if you want to." He said with a smile. " My job does intact require a lot of patience, luckily i have the patience to be able to care for beautiful babies like these." He fed the little female named Zuma and waited for his reply to the question he had asked earlier. Chris loved his job more than almost anything. Jess, of course, was the person he loved even more than his job. Caring for defenseless animals always put a smile on Chris' face. He always loved rescuing animals. He had once found a robin with a broken wing once when he was little, he nurtured it back to health, the day he set it free and watching it fly off into the distance made him realize that helping animals was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
