Simon is actually just a normal guy. A few weird quirks, but pretty normal.
Simon is apathetic about most things, but tries to at least come across as nice in conversation. The few things he cares about are his cat Timothy and literature. On the rare occasion that he makes a friend, he does his best to do right by them. He tends to be socially awkward and is always the last one to get the joke, but is pretty smart about everything else. The weirdest thing about him is his acute sense of time and innate ability to tell you, to the minute, when you were born.
Simon carries with him a beat up copy of William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury at all times. He claims this is because he is considering writing about Faulkner for his thesis. This is probably a lie. He carries his things in a largish messenger bag, which has enough supplies to help a person survive the apocalypse. He always carries a pack of cards, a notebook, and a pencil.
Simon grew up in a middle class family in a suburban town only about an hour away from the City. He did well in school, and went on to major in Literature in a decent college in the City. He goes there on a scholarship, but he does not room on campus. He owns an apartment about fifteen minutes away where he keeps his cat and his things. He works the early shift at a coffee shop to pay his bills.
Simon grew up in a middle class family of watchmakers in a nice town only about an hour away from the City. He did well enough in school to earn a scholarship to a decent college in the City. He is in the first year of the doctoral program there, working on his Ph.D. in Literature. He is currently working to be a teacher or a professor of English. In the meantime, he pays the bills by working at Coffee of Doom. He has a small apartment which is about a twenty minute walk from the campus of the college where he keeps his cat and his things.
