Some dreams seem so incredibly real, that when you wake, it feels like stepping away from another life. Unfinished business harasses the fully awake mind. Feelings cross over. You try and console yourself over the knowledge that nothing in the dreams were real, but it’s so terribly hard when some dreams resonate as if they were really lived. Memories don’t slip away. People don’t disappear. Sleep becomes the only connection between going from one life to the other.
No one ever expects to learn that what they believed was their life wasn’t real. That it was just a carefully crafted dream. There’s no waking up from the real reality. After a terrible car accident involving three friends that should have instantly killed them, each wake up in the same unknown house, lined up on three perfectly aligned beds. Three others enter, relief washed over their features. They reveal that the three have been in a coma for over a year, having been involved in a gruesome massacre that should have resulted in their death. They tell them what they really are: Dream Walkers.
For centuries dream walkers have lived on earth, protecting dreams. Dreams are what fuel the world, keeping it alive and balanced. The only possible thing that could disrupt this balance are the Nightmares. Now, Nightmares aren’t simply bad dreams haunting children in their bed. There very real, very disturbing entities that take multiple demon like forms and can influence the world around them. They can make a sane person snap, and they can make the illusions of a bad dream come to fruition. Their only purpose is chaos and fear. They feed off of it. The Dream Walkers are the only one’s who can fight back, to rid the world of nightmares. They are the protectors of the world. Unfortunately, the massacre the three were involved in (orchestrated by Nightmares) left little alive. While Dream Walkers numbers reached 1256 before, there are only 124 left.
These three who were in a coma dreamt the same dream, but have not regained the memories of their real lives. They've only retained the memories of their dream lives. They look different, have different names as these Dream Walkers. It’s not simply amnesia, it's as if their memories were replaced. Oddly enough, a quick search from the town of Galena, Illinois on the internet reveals that the car accident that forced them to wake up from their coma actually happened. However, the three friends (those who are now awake in completely different bodies) actually died. There was no sure explanation for the crash. There was no vehicle collision, no mechanical issues with the truck other than the front being completely smashed in. All that was left were some odd tracks from an ‘unknown animal’ that raced of into the woods. It's an assumed hit. A deeper search into the town within the past month brings up more concerning stories. People have been posting about how they’ve spotted what appears to be a tall, dark creatures. Two people have gone missing. More and more people are getting attacked by what they assume is an animal. Turns out, the town is being haunted by Nightmares. The town is a hot spot, and it’s only becoming worse.

Our story follows a group of six Dream Walkers, who all have the same powers as any other; extra strength, increased agility and endurance, the ability to walk through others dreams and manipulate them to their will. They are the ultimate hunters of nightmares, rare, trained from birth for the role. The six Dream Walkers include the three who are still suffer from amnesia, and the three who greeted them when they woke up. These three make up the new head council of the Dream Walkers, having taken up the position after the Great Massacre. Together, they travel to Galena, Illinois to try and stop the Nightmares from taking over the town. The three must reteach the amnesiac's who they truly are, all the while investigating why the town is so rampant with the demons, and why exactly in their their year long coma they'd not just gained the memories of lives of the three who had died in the crash, but why their consciousness seemed to have slipped into these three individuals while they were under this coma. Is all of this tied to the Great Massacre? How is it possible the three who had been in a coma had their memories erased and switched with another? Was it by some fluke of chance, or was someone puppeteering the whole thing? Sometimes it really is hard to tell dreams from reality.

- For amnesia characters, you will need two faceclaims and two names; one for the deceased dream character, and the other for when they wake up in their Dream Walker bodies. The one you will be using in your character sheet will be the dream walker face and name. The other face and name is just for history purposes.
- Characters can be anywhere from 18-24. Real faceclaims are preferred as opposed to anime or drawn.
- If you need a character skeleton, just ask and I'll send you one; I'm not picky with them if you'd prefer to use your own. Just be sure to include basic character info, personality, history, etc.
- This roleplay is not first come first serve. Please state the role you are interested in within the OOC tab along with your characters faceclaim and name. Within 48 hours send me a private message with a teeny tiny personality write up for them. Not big at all, can even be point form or just traits. If you want, you can provide a brief history of them as well. Nothing has to be long or elaborate, I just want a sense of who your character would be. I want to make sure they would mesh well within the roleplay.
- Once your character has been approved, please have the character sheet in within a week.
- I want this to be collaborative in every sense, so I will be making a group chat on discord if you have it. It allows for easier communication to discuss characters and plot more in depth together. I'm really all about communication. That being said, let me know if you have any questions at all about the roleplay.
- I ask you post once or twice a week, ideally 500+ words. Granted, I prefer quality over quantity so I don't care too much for word count.
- Let me know asap if you have to drop out or are going away for a little while, I will 100% understand. I will come up with a reason for your character's absence. I stress, however, that if you know you won't be very invested in this roleplay, please do not join.
- If you want a role and all the spots are taken, please message me! If you pitch me a character I think will add to the roleplay, I may create a spot for you.
- If you would like a second character, feel free to have one. Just make sure it's not too much to take onto your plate. Second characters can include residents of Galena (like friends or family of the three deceased people). Just let me know once you decide.
- Please, no god modding, Mary Sues etc. Please follow the general rules of the website.
