Introduction
This could not be sustained however, Even as the worldβs problems gave way to technological breakthroughs and the various nations tried to negotiate a global peace, some powerful and hidden shadows pushed the world toward the brink once more. This came in the form of both the UWP and NAC trying to stir revolutions in the nation of Japan. Exerting economic pressure on the remaining states of the EU and by their attempts to buy Liberty out with technology and power; however, none of these proved successful, so to bring the world into open war, the shadows sent the βLetters of Conflictβ. These two letters were sent to the heads of state of both the UWP and the NAC, claiming the cabinet of Liberty had sided with the opposition and that any moment a declaration of hostilities would be announced, followed equally swift with a declaration of war in the form of a preemptive strike. Though these letters were secret and kept from the public, they started the largest conflict ever seen. As the nation of liberty was now assaulted from both sides, and the rest of the world, plunged into war soon afterward.
The nation of Liberty was not one of fools, and was not without its armaments and preparation for war. For years the primary mode of combat had been the Zeus units all the nations used. Robotic units of decent size they were simple but powerful machines, and cheap to produce. The newer weapons were known as Frames. Larger and more powerful, frames came in main variations, but they were mass produced war machines that still lacked cutting edge technologies. Even so, as the war at Suez began, these were the primary objects of the battlefield, and they were deadly weapons. Liberty, strong as it was, could not hold out in such a state, and with its much smaller forces (though better trained and equipped with newer Frames) was swiftly pushed back. Mass evacuations to Station One had most of the citizens out of the line of fire in a matter of hours, but the military was unable to hold the lines for longer than a few days. As the lines collapsed they found themselves stuck with nowhere to run, and soon the NAC and UWP where fighting each other before each line. This sparked global conflict that spread to all but the other neutral nations, but for Liberty it was far too late. All they could do was holding out until the public was safe and evacuated. This is where YOUR story, YOUR war, beginsβ¦
Who will you fight for? Who will survive? This war is one of global conflict stirred by politicians, and with the secret letters now a catalyst any of the sides can win. The Neutral nations canβt survive forever, and with the two super powers soon to push into space only one will remain. You decide who that will be.
Frame types used by the governments:
Zeus: A basic walker and cockpit unit without arms. Able to hold immense loads, while not flight enabled or able to be flight enabled they can have the strongest of cannons and are the only Mechs which high energy Plasma weapons are currently available for in regular amounts. They are the basic units used by the two super powers UWP and NAC and are in mass production around the world. They are very hard to destroy in ranged combat. They can be on tracked and wheeled bases and can be armed with howitzers, cannons, machine guns, and even blade weapons. The primary melee system is the SLASH (Singular Launch Attack Shuriken Harness) systems.
Unit I: these are the first humanoid frames and are the basis of the Neutral Alliancesβ forces. They have a simple design much like those mechs used in MechAssault. They are able to use many mountable weapons and even have a few Plasma weapons available to them. They are not flight enabled but can be modified to have Jumper systems. These mechs are essentially ground troops and are best in a squad format with midrange to close range capabilities. The Sniper versions are equipped with massive cannons and bracers that fold down to brace the unit and hold it steady for continued fire.
Unit II: Approx 60ft tall, these are the newest humanoid mechs of the UWP that are only used in Spec-Ops. They are specifically designed to be fast moving and are completely humanoid in shape with the cockpit in the middle of the chest cavity, they are able to carry many kinds of mid range rifles and blades, and even are fully Flight capable if modified. Very few of these units are outside of the UWP but a few have been captured by the NAC and are being toyed with and modified to be used for their newest aces. The Liberty version of this Frame type, called the Duo, is piloted by one peson and its targeting system is opperated by another called the Nav-Pilot or Navie.
Horus: Approx 40 ft tall, these units are the true speed demons and melee combative of the UWP forces. They are humanoid but have a large box cockpit that extends out their backs (Code Geass style) they move via tracked feet and they are standard with Jump systems that can be extended to Flight systems. These have not been captured yet and are only available to the UWP Spec-Ops teams.
Nexus: These are the most advanced units and have only been seen a few times in combat. They are fast, brutal and by far the most flexible frames out there. They are all flight enabled and each one has one other feature, an A.I. personality that is based on the pilot in a way. They are only presently available in the Neutral Alliance, but after they were seen by both the UWP and the NAC in the battles for Liberty the other nations are starting to speed their experimental proto types into battle.
Other/ Artisian: there are several small corporations that build mechs for mercenary companies and the super powers have their own flight enables Prototypes that are similar to the Nexus but do not have the A.I. system. Basically, anything thats not one of the above is an Artisian Mech

Note*: Technology is plasma, ballistic, and particle base. Plasma has limited range but Particles are far different. Particle weaponry is electrons super-heated and compressed under an electromagnetic field to be used as sabers or projectile beam weapons. Particle shielding is a layer of the particles in a semi-solid to solid form that deflects their particles. Ballistic weapons penetrate particle shielding but depending on the density of the shield can cause less to near no damage. This uses a lot of energy. High mobility units have limited shield abilities when also using particle weapons. If a shield is up and surrounding the whole unit the Frame cannot attack.
No, you dont need a mech to play in this game, as wars are won on and off the field. Any questions please PM me.

The Zelion was clearly in view. βThese damn UWPβs are way to confident. They should realize that Frame for Frame their out of their league.β Edwin smirked to himself as the Ragland charged up and compressed the particles into its primary bazooka. It was currently hidden behind one of the large high rises at the end of the Road. The Raglandβs bazooka was designed to compress the particles under such force that they actually change their atomic structure, making his particles blue when fired instead of the bright red color of other beams. The shot itself is in the form of either a massive orb or a single long beam. In this case he needed piercing power and so he selected the beam type.
βRagland, have you finished the calibration of the beam?β Edwin asked his A.I.
βI believe so, however the shielding might have disrupted the firing angle tracking beam.β The A.I. responded.
βOkay, compression at maximum, High Density Particle Cannon now firing!β Edwin called out as he used the targeting system to aim through the large station and fired the beam. The massive blue ray burned through the building and shot right towards the left side of the Zelion.

"Sir, a high power beam is headed right for the left flank of the Zelion!"
"What?" Groge snarled. "Shields up, full power!" Just as the order was given, and the shield was thrown up at full power, the beam smashed into the shield, and though a portion of it made it past the shield, it did a small amount of damage, making a small scar on the vast white surface of the Zelion. "Bombard that mech with full power."
All ten heavy particle bays opened fire on the Ragland; one was enough to blow a mech to pieces with a single shot.

Jude and the other two pilots with him quickly rushed the liberty pilots, shooting their frames several times, but being careful not to hit their generators. Joining them the other three pilots stood with them in the alley and stared at the destroyed frames.
βWhere the hell did they come from?β One pilot asked, confused at the enemies sudden appearance out of nowhere. βI say we screw this mission!β He exclaimed. Personally he was frightened, having a family, and dying didnβt sound fun to him.
βHow dare you, you coward!β Another pilot shouted at him. βYou better think before you speak. Desertion is punishable by death, and Iβll kill you myself if you try to flee!β
βEnough!β Jude spoke up, annoyed by the bickering. βNow get back in formation and keep quiet.β He ordered, quickly taking down another alleyway as the others followed.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, more shots were fired their way. Quickly they took cover, and then began to lay down suppressive fire. Stuck in an alleyway, though none of them said it, they all knew that they either had to get out of here or risk being flanked. Shooting down the alley blindly they were not aware of how many enemies they were facing but the amount of fire they were receiving told them a lot.
βQuickly, shoot a rocket down the alley. Iβll flank them from above!β Jude told them, and quickly one of the others shot his bazooka, receiving minor damage. Shooting up into the air he quickly spotted where the fire was coming, though he couldnβt directly see who was firing. Flipping a switch several of his βfirebeeβ missiles headed towards the building, where they hit large holes were blow into the building and the fire seemed to stop. βMove forwards.β He ordered as he stayed in the air, just above the buildings.

Edwin smirked at the futile beams that had been shot at him. He powered up his shield and was soon covered by a green orb. The beams were deflected or refracted from the field without much effort. None of them had the power to pierce this shield. βYou fools are so set in your superiority complex that you canβt seem to realize the obvious truth,β He said over the loud speaker, knowing barely anyone would hear him, as he vented, βThis Frame is basically the same as that Attack Platform in a smaller package. Donβt you see your technology is years behind.β
To Edwin, technology was what determined a nations right to rule, and with Liberty at the front of that he believed that this nation should lead all the others, as its technology was a clear measure of how advanced and enlightened the nation is.
"Only the Enlightened have a right to lead others, fools like you should just die where you stand."

The Rot Sieger dashed backwards, dodging the attack to the cockpit, before swerving around and attacking the Flay with a furious, but very well-coordinated flurry of slashes and stabs with his beam sabers. When he had attacked enough to reduce the Flay to a cinder if it did nothing, the Rot Sieger dashed back, away from the Flay, the particle shield raised, the mech barely visible behind the red beam of the shield.
Groge sneered as the particle beams had no effect on the enemy's shield; he failed to be impressed. He turned back to the officers in the Zelion. "Well now, that's a nice little toy he has. Maybe Liberty may have had a chance...if their pilots relied less on their toys and more on the skill they lack!" The officers laughed with Groge, and then he commed to Hatsu.
"There's a bothersome fly, the location is marked on your radar; crush it for us. Use anti-mech blades, particle attacks seem to have no effect, so ballistics will probably have the same result."
"Roger!" Hatsu quickly informed Anya, Victor, and Alexander of her objective, and then dashed backwards, veering around and then blasting forward with breakneck speed. There, visible, was the Ragland. "Well hell, that's the fattest mech I've ever seen!" she suppressed a laugh before the two other arms of the Mutsuzu emerged from the chest armour, and all four arms withdrew anti-mech blades.
"You must be one of those Seraphim Squadlings!" she said, linking a comm as she struck at all side with all four blades before dashing back and around the Ragland.

The Ragland paid no attention to the advancing four armed mech and kept advancing toward the Zelion.
His reasoning soon became clear. The four armed mech never got close enough to attack, as it closed in two red beam shot up in its path from below. The source was two canons folded out of Mariaβs Frameβs wings. βYes, he is from the Seraphimβs, and heβs not alone.β She said over the speaker as she shot from the ground up into the air, the heavy shield raised in defense as the rifle continued to fire beams as she advanced. He Frame was clearly a balanced model meant to be used for medium range combat, but the fighting style made it seem like the pilot was more or less a melee fighter. The shots were amazingly accurate though, as if the pilot was also a sharpshooter of very high skill.

"Ah yes, I did hear that you always worked together," Hatsu said as the Mutsuzu dodged the blasts at high speed. Two of the anti-mech blades were returned to its backpack, and two of the anti-mech shotguns were withdrawn. They were armed now with ammunition that, while coated with plasma, would also explode on contact. The Mutsuzu dashed forward and fired two shots from each shotgun at Maria's frame. Meanwhile, she spoke on the Red Corps comm link, "I may need backup here, be prepared."

Edwin fired off two beams that while they werenβt very dense still where something that the Zelion didnβt want to get hit by. Edwin raised his shields immediately following the beams, not knowing if the Zelion could fire at him regardless of if its shields were up or not.

Maria was confident in her superior mobility. The right wind expanded and released a full expanse of particles to accelerate to the right. It left a blue particle cloud right were the machine had been, which the shots went through in waves. While she did that she rotated the Frame upside down and the A.I. fired off all four high bore canons at the Mutsuzu. This was the power of the Nexus system. The frame was being maneuvered by the talented Maria, while the A.I. based on the crack shot Duo took aim and fired at the enemy machine.

Meanwhile, as Maria fought Hatsu, who was dodging and weaving through Maria's high bore cannon blasts, Maria would find that she was being fired at with high power, penetrating beams; on Hatsu's comm link, the cool voice of Alexander Alles announced, "You requested backup?"
At that moment, Anya and Victor's mechs blasted into the sky as well. "I'll hold off this other mech, since it seems to be high mobility geared like mine," Anya explained. "Hatsu, continue your attack against the mech that's attacking the Zelion."
Hatsu nodded in affirmative, and resumed her attack on the Ragland with the four anti-mech blades. Meanwhile, Anya moved around the Raziel with unmatched speed and agility, the entire time firing Type 2 rounds with deadly accuracy. Victor did nothing for the moment, awaiting the arrival of further reinforcments.
"Two more blasts of lower density have smashed into the Zelion's shield," an officer reported.
"I can see that, thanks," Groge muttered irritatedly. "But I have noticed one weakness. It seems that it can't use its weaponry while its shield is up. Next time it fires, immediately fire all ten particle bays at it."

Suddenly ballistic shots range out against the Phantomβs haul and Jude took immediate action. The shots had come from the same building as before so he aimed his beam rifle towards it and began to riddle it with beams. Then from inside a large explosion, cause from a liberty frame, started a chain reaction, causing several other explosions. The faint trails of smoke turned into large pillars and flamed began to burst through holes. βLets get going.β He said to the others, landing on the ground and taking the rear position. βRemember to check your corners, no need to get yourselves killed.β
βThink you destroyed that building enough?β The leading pilot joked as he advanced up the alley and pass the burning building.
βIf I didnβt have to conserve energy and ammo I would have razed the entire block.β He commented back, laughing hysterically briefly. βKeep moving, weβre not far from the power station.β
As they advanced down several different alleyways, running around like mice in a maze they all felt a shiver of fear. They hadnβt been attacked for several blocks and something about it didnβt feel right. But they keep moving forwards, only a couple blocks away from their goal they couldnβt afford to be scared.

Mariaβs A.I. suddenly took over the maneuvering just in time to move before the sniper fired. The beam missed the cockpit and the frame by mere inches, a lot closer when youβre dealing with weapons that at hundreds of feet tall. The A.I. swiftly returned control and Maria moved them further back into the taller buildings. She fired the rifle to try and disarm the now swiftly approaching Frames. However knowing she couldnβt hit them she turned upwards and hit full thrust, her Frame burst into the sky like a rocket, far faster than should have been humanly possible. The Pilot felt amazing gβs and almost black out but as the Frame cleared the roof tops with the three Frames below the machine inverted. The A.I. took over and fired at the buildings, sending a thick shower of debris down on her enemies. In the moment of piece she asked, βWhy did you take control there Dee, not that Iβm complaining?β
The A.I. appeared as a holographic Duo with blonde hair, βYou were flying too steady for too long, I would have fired at you if it were me so I assumed someone might, so I moved.β
βGood guess.β
βNot a good thing, it means their sniper is good enough to see a chance to fire but not cocky enough to fire too often.β
βRight, where are Grant and Jesse?β

The Ragland fired another shot, deflected one and the held its shield as it charged up its blaster. The latest advances that the suit had allowed it to charge its weapons as the shield was raised. However it couldnβt charge up that mega burst while shielded. As soon as his canons were charged he dropped the shield and fired the four shoulder cannons at the Zelion. He kept the other two cannons charged and ready as the beams cleared.

"Fire....now!" Groge roared as the Ragland prepared to fire its shoulder cannons. Immediately, ten large beams of energy blasted right at the unshielded Ragland.
Anya in the Tetra sped after the Raziel as it burst into the sky, easily equalling it in speed and maneuverability. She kept up a steady hail of fire on the Raziel the entire time, not letting it escape from the Tetra. Meanwhile, every now and then, a blast of sniper fire would burst through a bulding and head straight for the Raziel's cockpit.

Edwin smirked as he turned one of his two bazookaβs to the left and fired off into the sky (the main bazooka is actually two that can combine, right now they are separated.) releasing a large beam. He hit full right throttle and the machine shot out of the firing line of the beams. The machine was fast for something of its size, but it was the extra-boost from the recoil of the bazooka that let it move out of the way in time. It had finally gotten close enough to the Zelion to fire the other cannon. βYou assumed that Ragland was slow, and thatβs why you have lost.β Edwin said over the loud speaker as he placed the barrel of the bazooka just at the surface of the shield. He didnβt have time to aim for the command deck, before they would target him, so instead he hit the main trigger and fired a blast at the left βshoulderβ of the Zelion
--
βGotcha!β Maria said aloud as she turned about and brought her beam saber to bear at Anya. At the same time particle round shot up from below as an orange and white Frame in the form of an aircraft burst into the sky at Hatsu. While that happened a Black and White strange looking frame stood off to the side atop a building waiting for a chance to strike the other mech. In truth he was hoping Victor would come to him. He didnβt like striking people in the back, it was against his code.
Setting

The blast right at the surface of the shield penetrated the shield and hit the shoulder, but it was not a destroying blow, even if it did damage the armour. Instead, it had left the Ragland completely open to a full on, point-blank blast that it would not be able to dodge. The three particle bays on the left side of the Zelion opened fire on the Ragland at point blank range.
Anya easily dodged backwards from the beam saber. "So you wish to bring this to melee combat..." she murmured as she released the machine gun and withdrew a beam saber, bringing it to lock against Maria's. She then dashed backwards and began circling the Raziel at blinding speed, pushing the Tetra's speed to the limit before suddenly moving from the side and attack the Raziel's beam saber arm. It then resumed circling the Raziel, awaiting its attack.
Hatsu barely dodged the blast from the aircraft mech. "So you also have transformable Frames, eh? Not bad." She dashed backwards from the aircraft, blasting it with the shotguns before removing the four anti-mech blades, aware that with the aircraft's speed she would have to destroy it in close combat.
Victor turned to see another mech, waiting to attack. "Why did he not attack when my back was turned...maybe this one is an honourable fighter." Victor showed a rare smile, before he dashed towards the other mech, stopping not far away, as if to signify a challenge. He withdrew two beam sabers, and awaited the other mech's reply.

Edwin braced himself as the shield for his machine expanded. Only two of the beams made it in, but they exploded, causing a cloud of smoke to fill the sphere shaped shield. A it cleared the Ragland was found standing there with a double shot of particles ready, its shoulders singed black, however the two shoulder mounted cannons were now gone. They fired at full force as the shield dropped momentarily to destroy the guns defending the main bridge. Immediately following its firing it raised its shields.
--
Maria saw the enemy machine boost to the side and begin circling her but she just waited. βYouβre wasting energy.β She said to herself as she turned about and blocked the particle beam with her own saber. As Anya went to circle again she would find herself cut off by the Raziel, which had boosted around her and while she was moving gotten in front of her. The Frameβs left fist punching for Anyaβs main camera.
--
Jesse saw the other Frame draw its blades and so he transformed mid air and very swiftly, bringing his machine gun to bear he fired a volley while getting a feel for the advancing Frame. He prepped his shield which made up for his lack of an obvious melee weapon.
--
Grant did something odd and bowed to Victor before drawing one of his katana and coating it in plasma while taking a ready stance atop the building. His speaker rang out, βIβm glad to see not all of the invaders are without honor.β

The blasts from the Ragland's particle guns, aimed for the Zelion's particle bays, impacted on the Zelion's shield, hardly penetrating it, and certainly not with enough energy to do any real damage. Within the command bridge, Groge laughed. "Yes, continue wasting your energy against my unassailable war machine!" he exclaimed. "You should have learned by now how much use it will be to continue your attack."
Anya easily dodged the Raziel's primitive attack with its fist, and stabbed at the face with the beam saber, aiming to disable the mech rather than kill the pilot. Then she dashed backwards, awaiting the Raziel's next attack.
Hatsu dashed through the sky, dodging the volley of machine gun fire, and taking note of the fact that the enemy lacked a melee weapon. The Mutsuzu returned two of the anti-mech blades to exchange them for two anti-mech shotguns, armed with explosive ammunition, and dashed up to the enemy frame, firing two shots from each of the shotguns, following it up with an attack from each blade.
Victor returned the enemy's bow, feeling that since Grant had done so he was obligated to return the bow. "Just as it pleases me to see that not all of Liberty's pilots are honourless, but I digress. You appear to be a skilled pilot, from what I have heard. It is my honour to cross swords with you. But now, let us proceed." With those words, he dashed forward, activating the two beam sabers as he did. He tossed one into the air like a boomerang, as if to distract the enemy, but he knew its purpose. As the other beam saber slashed upwards, Victor grabbed the falling beam saber and slashed downwards with it before dashing backwards and awaiting the enemy's reply.

Edwin Smirked as he watched the Zelion foolishly battle the Ragland before him. The smoke cloud had been just what he needed to eject the Seraphim Frame from the back of the Ragland. This was a much different Frame that was designed for close quarters combat. The Frame had a onetime use cloaking system attached to its back that had allowed it to maneuver unnoticed to above the Zelion. Now the timer on the cloaking system was up and the Ragland was running low on spare particles. Edwin knew he had to move. He ejected the cloaking unit, which fell into the Zelionβs Shields and was deflected to the ground. The unit was a box for power storage and a cloak that had wrapped around the frame. The jet black Frame now was in clear sight to the officersβ aboard the Zelion. As it floated above them it plunged its hands into the shield and met the resistance of the shielding. At the same time the AI aboard the Ragland pressed its shield against the Zelionβs. As the two shields canceled each other out the Ragland fired its guns to destroy the weapons that would have a shot at the Seraphim. With the gap in the shield the shots were well aimed, but took up the last of the spare particles, the Ragland fell from the sky and slowed to land on the ground below powered down.
--
Maria was expecting this counter, it was classic UWP manual. She dropped back allowing the Tetra to glide forward and present its arm as a target. As Maria fell back and dodged the attack at her Camera she sliced upwards with the beam saber and placed the shield between her and the rest of Anyaβs Frame. Maria was aiming to disable the arm above her.
--
Jesse blocked the shotgun shells with the powerful and think shield. As she closed in he stored his machine gun and grabbed the left forearm with his right hand and the other arm was caught by the shield as it opened wide and became a pincer. It gripped the blades arm and squeezed as its hidden dagger slowly started to pierce into it.
--
Grant maneuvered to the left and boosted across the roof toward the man with his blade low at the Frame waist, he sliced strongly upwards and to the other side, as though it was a draw cut. He also slid to the left in a long drive to make it so that the enemy frame would have to engage him before it could catch the other blade, due to his advance the blade would have been thrown to far ahead.

The Ragland's attack destroyed five of the particle bays, leaving another five on the other side, as well as the missile bays. As the Ragland fell to the groun with no shield to protect it, the Zelion fired all five particle bays at it, more than enough to annihilate the frame.
Anya once again dodged the beam saber that Maria attacked with, and smiled; this one was good. She quickly removed the smile, however. "Can't think like that, or I'll end up like Alexander..." she murmured to herself as she dodged backwards. Hatsu, her two arms grabbed, smiled. This fool had forgotten the other two arms, the ones armed with shotguns. With the shield now useless, she unleashed four complete blasts into the defenseless mech; the explosions blasted her backwards. Victor dodged the attack that Grant's mech threw at him, and was about to reply when suddenly...
"We have orders to pull out. So let's go." The Rot Sieger was in the air not far away, observing the battle with interest. He smiled almost proudly as the Red Corps easily matched against the Seraphim Squad, though he knew for someone like Victor, matching them would not be enough, and for Victor it would be torture to leave now before he had a chance to properly battle his opponent. But it had to be done.
"What?!" Hatsu had already almost certainly defeated her opponent, but to withdraw was not something she expected from Elrich.
"You heard it, we have orders. I like it no better than you." The Rot Sieger glanced around at the Seraphim Squad. "Pity I couldn't have a chance to take on any of you. I suppose that'll have to wait, eh?" With a chuckle, he continued to withdraw, followed by Hatsu. Anya cast a glance at the Raziel, before dashing past it after them. Victor, furious at having to withdraw, half-considered continuing his battle there; however, he knew that with the rest of the Seraphim Squad he couldn't hope to take them all on.
"It is a shame that we could not complete our duel," he said to the other pilot. "Perhaps another time." With a bow of the head, Victor burst into the air after the rest of the Red Corps.

Edwin didnβt worry about the Ragland, the machineβs AI was smart and it deactivated the main drive systems and erected one last shield. The shield only stopped the missiles and some of the shots, but it protected the machine enough to stop the assault from destroying it. βLook up here you fools!β Edwin said as he activated the Seraphimβs arms, they were coated in a thin layer of charged particles and electrons. The hands slipped straight through the heavy shielding and now flanked the command deck, resting on the surface of the Zelion. The hands flipped backwards and stored into the forearms, now replaced by reflectors. The arms were cannons, the same that were atop the shoulders of the Ragland. AS they changed the particles that had been stored released. With now shielding between the surface of the Zelion and the cannons and the particles at full density the machine fired, it didnβt fire straight into the command deck, but it did fire with the intent to cripple the machine for the time being. For good measure the Seraphim flipped out the hands again and used two hidden beam sabers in its arms to slice at two of the shield generators to shut it down.
--
Maria and Jesse breathed a sigh of relief. Jesse had known about the other two arms but he also knew that those shotgun shells wouldnβt pierce the armor enough to get to the cockpit or major systems. AS the shuttles retreated above the whole area went to full alert. The remaining drones self destructed and several of the buildings also detonated, the whole area below was a hell on earth, save for a few area where the system failed, those soldiers had just won the life lottery.
--
Grant was not happy that they had retreated, but he acted quickly. He drew a throwing blade and held it before his cockpit a fine laser etched something into it swiftly and he then threw it at Victor, counting on the pilotβs abilities to catch the dagger. Written on it in the etching was a place, date, and time. βWeβll fight again.β Was also written there.

"Where are our forces centred?" he demanded of one of the officers. A map of Anchor appeared, and the officer gestured to one area. "The enemy is known to have several Frames still hidden in this section of the city..." he gestured again. Groge smiled. "Then we shall give them a parting gift."
The particle cannon in the Zelion's chest began to gather particle energy, quickly because it had been using energy to prepare the cannon throughout the battle. There was a small humming noise as it gathered energy, and then...
"Fire!" Groge snarled. A huge particle beam, easily three times the size of a Frame, raged at the area of the enemy holdings. It swept through the entire area, annihilating buildings and frames alike with utter destruction. For a full thirty seconds the beam of death simply eliminated the enemy that was in that area, before it finally halted.
"Prepare us to withdraw," Gregor muttered. The battle would soon be over.
Victor easily caught the dagger, and read it; as he did so, once again a rare smile crossed his scarred face. He gave himself a nod, before continuing to follow the rest of the Red Corps. They would be headed back to Kreuszat. The mission had ended. No casualties for the Red Corps, as usual; many for the UWP, and, after the Zelion's particle cannon blast, countless, whether civilian or military, for Liberty.

Maria and the others slowly began moving again. Thankfully the beam had been slightly refracted by the buildings sides, which were coated in anti particle reflective material. It didnβt hold out for long but rather than a beam hitting them a building just fell at them. In the last moment, Grant used his suits mobility to grab both Jesse and Maria and get them out of the largest debrisβs falling area. As Gabriel fired the bazooka at the main power plant armour, the five remaining particle bays and the missile bays all fired their entire payload at Gabriel. And then they stopped as the bazooka's blast smashed into the power plant, making the weapons useless. But it was done; no one could possibly dodge a full on barrage at point blank range.
"I still cannot believe you had us retreat," Victor muttered as the five Frames streaked across the sky. "At last I had found an opponent worthy of battle--someone, perhaps, who could have equalled me in melee skill."
"Those were the orders I was given," Elrich replied unapologetically. "You can complain about it to General Ken once we get to Kreutszat."
"That fat mech really pissed me off..." Hatsu murmured. "That damn shield...you know, those Liberty pilots must really suck if they need that kind of cheap trick to get by."
Elrich chuckled. "No one's going to argue with that."

βTell me about it, but at least the elites have left the battle field.β
βWhat will we do without the machine?β
βWeβll board the Freedom and take command, send the next set of orders out, and have the fleet retreat to the rear, in fact move them out into the Arabian Sea, we got lucky that Groge didnβt wipe them out instead of the city, would have done more damage.β He glanced down at the bar that indicated that all of the shuttles had returned from their last delivery of civilians, βBegin evacuation all the non combat personnel and load up the Freedom, I donβt want to drag this out any longer.β
βLook whose back into giving commands.β Flay joked as she sent out orders to all military command centers. Gabriel had operational authority, much to the dismay of the higher ranking officers.
The troops would together and prepare to repel borders one last time before the final retreat. He had attacked the Zelion out of rage, but he knew they needed to disable it completely at some point, that main gun would cause some major havoc to the Freedom. "Flay ,tel lthe base to have a hovercraft ready for me. and have Micheal take over watching the main UWP forces, though i can't see Groge attacking until he has his battle platform back on the field."

Elrich sat on one of the heavy metal crates that were scattered throughout the hangar; throughout the hangar there were only five suits, the five suits of the elite Red Corps Squad. After the arid heat of Anchor, it was nice to be back in the cool-aired base. And then, in a couple of hours, they would be on their way back to Kreutszat, and then from there to the NAC front. I don't imagine I'll see the Old Dog anymore... he thought with a rueful smile. He would have liked to have met Maria again; when Elrich had last seen her, she was showing great promise as a pilot. At that time, Elrich was already out of the Academy for several years by then. As Elrich heard, she was now with another student--Duo MacRay. Elrich and Duo had never gotten along; Duo had seemed to think that Elrich was full of it; Elrich considered Duo's skills subpar. Elrich thought Duo was just jealous; Duo thought Elrich was just lording his skill over the other students. Really, Maria, I would think that you would have better taste...
"Hey, Vincent," a voice jarred him from his thoughts; he looked up to notice that it was Anya. She walked up to him and sat down on the large crate as well, sitting next to him with a smile. "Feeling okay?"
"Good as ever," Elrich replied. "Though I should ask much the same question of you. I regret it was only towards the end that I got to see the great skill and prowess of my Red Corps Squad in battle once again."
"You flatter us too much," Anya said, though she couldn't help but grin at his praise. "Though I am a bit curious...where were you?"
"I was....catching up with an old friend? You could say that," Elrich smiled bitterly. "Actually, he is the father of the pilot of the very mech you were fighting."
"Ah...she was...good..." Anya's face suddenly became downcast, as if expecting Elrich to go from praise to scorn for Anya's inability to defeat the Raziel; but the expected scorn did not come.
"I don't blame you for not being able to defeat her. I expected her to be a good pilot by now," he withheld the fact that he had helped train Maria--that was not necessary for Anya to know. His smile turned playful with his next comment. "And anyway, you know the Liberty pilots--they never got into combat unless they've got at least three ridiculously overpowered technologies to hold over your head. The vast majority of their pilots wouldn't survive ten seconds in a UWP suit."
Anya gave a friendly laugh as she stood up. "I'm going to go check on the others...is there anything you need?" her face seemed to hope that he would say so, but he only replied, "I'm okay, thanks."
Anya nodded, a bit crestfallen. "Oh...okay...well, I'm going to go check on the others!" with a small wave to Elrich, she walked off towards the other Frames. Elrich gave a small chuckle; it was always a wonder to him how Anya would become a pilot. She simply wasn't the type; he would imagine such a bright, intelligent young woman to have a promising future in an intellectual career. But instead Anya followed her brother into the UWP Mech Corps, and from there, showing much skill and prowess, Elrich selected her to join the Red Corps. She was the 'little sister' of the Red Corps, as some said. If anyone harmed Anya in any way, they could expect not only Victor, but the entire Red Corps, to destroy them. Victor, Elrich knew, was intensely protective of his sister and would brutally destroy anyone who harmed her. And, though Elrich would not have noticed it, Anya had a youthful crush on the Major known as Vincent van Matteus, and had since the day she had been so awed by his skill on the battlefield and his charisma off of it.
Elrich gave another sigh and glanced down at the clock on his phone. Another hour and a half until Kreutszat. Another half an hour, and perhaps he would never see Gabriel Hierarch again.

Gabriel had to hand it to the Liberty Intelligence Bureau, they made great cover identities, when he had headed over to the rear line base he wasnβt sure if he would be able to get in let alone out. But here he was, standing next to his old pupil again. He shook the canteen and let the water slosh inside. βYou canβt be used to this arid climate, I promise you I didnβt poison it, after all Iβd much rather kill you in a Frame if I kill you at all.β
