Livvy brushed back her hair. The cloak, she felt, was going a bit overboard, but better safe than sorry. She'd heard rumors about another "puppet" in the town, and had to see if the rumors were true. She'd taken hours of busrides to get to the town- were there really other puppets? Maybe they could help her find a way to break this damn curse.
She put her phone in her pocket. She didn't care for hiding from Mr. Puppet King; she knew he would find her. What she was worried about was people recognizing her. Her face'd been on the news, though only once, advertising the missing 16-year-old. But people go missing all the time. Why should this time be any different? Livvy pulled out a worn picture. It had five people in it. One of them being her, the rest her family. She kissed the photo and stuck it back in her boots. Now was no time for sentimental moments. She had a job to do.
Her life depended on it.

Lyra looked around the town she had arrived in. She was still dressed in the same clothes she had been dressed in at the carnival... A black jacket, dark blue jeans...But something seemed different. She touched her face, it seemed fine. Hm... Whatever. She slid her hands into her coat pocket, not noticing people staring at her. She didn't look at anyone. Her eyes were fixated on the ground. I mean, what was there to stare at? She knew something was wrong....She knew Mr. Puppet Master was near...She knew that he would find her..But were there others like her? Others that had been cursed with the curse of the wood?

Lyra pulled a piece of hair behind her ear, the strand of hair catching against the diamond stud embedded into it. She sighed, she'd been wanddering around for a couple hours now. And no one seemed particularly nervous like her. Nobody had been lookig for her. And all she had on her person was a silver locket she had had since her grandmother died. Nothing in paricular was precious to her except this locket. Now, to look for the other missing people..... She looked up and saw an outdated newspaper in the trash. She gently picked it up and brushed it off.

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS GIRL?
16 YEAR OLD GONE MISSING. BLONDE.

That's all Lyra read, she knew that she had to go look for this girl and that it might take longer than a few hours. So be it. She would tough it out.

The search, had begun.

Livvy left. She'd been in a closed pawn shop- the door hadn't even been locked and it was easy to slip in and take a few things. She wasn't big into stealing, but she was under the pressure of turning into a puppet. That gave her a right to some leisure time!
All she took was a microwavable meal [why this was in a pawn shop, she didn't know] and a simple makeup cover-up. She had marks on her hands- black marks. They looked like the ruins she studdied in ancient Egypt, yet she wasn't sure why the Puppet guy had put them on her hands. Maybe the other puppets had them too. Maybe it was his way of categorizing. Who knew?
She headed out, the cool air refreshing her face, and boarded the nearest bus stop. She didn't know why, but for some reason had a hunch.

Lyra felt a stinging on her left ankle. She slowly pulled her jean leg up to see a wooden symbol that seemed carved onto it. It was happening. She shuddered, this was So not happening..Yet it was. She shivered as she walked down to the bus stop. She needed to find those other puppets. Fast FAST FAST! She jogged, her ankle still stinging. Where were those other puppets..Her silver locket clanked against the skin around her neck. It was already turning hard..Like wood. God please help... Lyra prayed in her mind. Even though she didn't really believe in it that much..She thought it might help.

Anything would help about now...

Livvy was just about to fall asleep when the bus pulled up at a carnival.
I hadn't known the carnival was in town... Livvy thought with a dark humor. Her foot was stinging again. This was the third time this week. Within the next two days her entire foot would become wooden. She'd managed to keep it from continuing on by using a combonation of bleech and fire, but she couldn't see that holding out for much longer.
She got off the bus-stop at the carnival. There were about seven people waiting to get on. One harassed-looking mother with four kids jumping around her ankles, an overweight man with ketchup stains on his yellow shirt and a girl who looked about Livvy's age. It was the girl who caught Livvy's attention. She looked really uncomfortable, and a silver locket was bouncing on her neck in rhythm to her racing pulse. Livvy hurried to get away from the girl. She was probably about to have some phycotic breakdown.

Lyra looked to her left then to her right, her ankle was seriously burning... She ran down the street. Still burning... And leaned against the corner of a building. Phew! She looked to her right and watched the mother with a couple of hyper kids..Then a girl in a cape caught her eye. She frowned, the girl looked really uneasy about something. Could it be the mother....No, the mother was fine..But maybe it was her..... Her eye caught the carnival signs and she involuntarily shivered. Her first meeting with that...That thing had been at the carnival....Carnivals would forever be in Lyra's nightmares..Now back to that girl.. She seemed to be thinking about something awfully hard...And she had glanced at Lyra and seemed to rush away from her. She must've thought I was going insane or something... Lyra thought to herself. Oh well...She would go to the girl later.

She felt the stranges pull towards her..Like they had something in common..But what did they have in common? She had never met her anyway...

The girl was staring at Livvy now, her glance flicking to the carnival signs. Livvy watched her face. She looked incrediably panicked. Maybe it was the right thing to do if Livvy went to comfort her. Then again, the reason could be she was on run from the police, she'd stolen something, raped someone, vandalized something....the possibilities were endless. She could be a murderer for all Livvy knew. So Livvy turned and continued onto the first activity she saw...the Mirror House.

Lyra was slightly annoyed at the girl...She had been ignored by her. Then again, she didn't know who Lyra was. It was an understandable approach. She had turned and walked away without the slightest acknowledgement though. So Lyra was going to follow her. She had slipped into the mirror house. Ugh..One of Lyra's worst nightmares besides the...Thing. She walked down to the carnival, her ankle barely hurting her as she did. Her mind was too intent on figuring out if the girl was a puppet or not.

Lyra stood at the entrance. The mirrors glistened slightly as if they had a secret. At least ten Lyra's stared back and she realized why the girl was scared of her. She looked..crazy. Her hair was slightly crazy with static, and her coat was a little torn from her incident with the train.. She shrugged the weird image off and made her way inside, hoping the girl would be reasonable and not blow her head off..

Into the house of mirrors..Fun fun fun..

Livvy was surrounded by herself everywhere. This might've not been such a good idea. Kids were milling about, gazing at the mirrors that distorted reflections. Middle schoolers were acting like douches and laughing at varried versions of one another fat...yet Livvy had never felt more alone. She wished she'd never gone to the carnival that day...

It was a sweet Summer saturday afternoon. The clouds that look so pretty in pictures were drifting across the sky. Livvy rememberd wishing she'd brought her camera, just to snap a quick memory. Her mother and father had wandered off to the sketches, and although many of her friends were there, she wasn't in a social mood, and had eventually drifted off to the puppet show. Cynically she'd sat in one of the back seats- the show was surprisingly full. Damning it all now, Livvy wished she had bothered to look at some of the other faces, just to have an inkling of anyone else who might be a puppet...but she didn't. She stared, in a very bad mood, at the stage. The puppet master came out. His ugly apperance she remebered had startled her into paying attention...

Livvy shook her head free of memories and came into a huge open room, just as that same girl who'd been having the breakdown entered the room. Livvy was relieved that she was okay yet wary all the same. Every time the girl's hand twitched Livvy feared she was about to grab a knife from her pants or something...
So sue her. She's a bit paranoid.

Lyra saw herself, skinny as a stick, she almost laughed out loud. But she noticed how the girl was eying her every move through the mirror. She didn't want to frighten her, she wanted to befriend her. She went with her gut feeling, she felt drawn to her, like they should work together or something. The wood emblem on her ankle burned as she got closer to the girl, like when a dog wanders too far out of the yard with a laser caller on. She winced but moved along, passing the girl, her silver locket seemed to sparkle as it's reflection was on the mirrors. The stupid dumb asses that had been laughing at the distorted reflections had passed on deeper into the mirrored maze. Lyra turned her head and thought back to when she had last been at a carnival..

"Mum! Dad! I'm going to go look around!" Lyra raced through the crowd after she had told her parents where she was going. The farthest tent in the corner had said "Puppet show". Lyra had been obsessed with puppets ever since she could walk. Her first encounter was when she had learned that as a matter of fact, Elmo was a puppet. She had loved Elmo. She passed tent after tent until she finally reached the one that said puppet show. The tent was cloaked in gold and crimson velvet, along with ebony black ropes. The tent canvas opened to admit her inside and Lyra had looked around in wonder. There were not very many seats only a few. She slipped into one of the front seats, the show had already started and the puppet master had already gone behind the stage.. A small puppet cloaked in a black cloak had come out and started chittering in a very loud voice.

"Come one come all to the famous Mr. Puppet Master's puppet show!" Lyra distinctly noticed that the puppet's eyes seemed to gleam like onyx stones dripping with fire instead of paint, as though the puppet were alive...

Lyra didn't enjoy puppets anymore.

Lyra jolted out of her vision as she saw herself in the mirror. She looked to the other girl and steeled herself for what she was about to do. She walked to the girl and stood right next to her.. She smiled a polite and friendly smile as she said the weirdest thing that would ever start a conversation...

"I feel like I know you, have you ever been cursed before?" Lyra almost winced at what she had said. It was so...Random, but she had a gut feeling, and Lyra trusted her gut more than anything..

The question was sudden. Random. Yet it went off like a bomb in her stomach. She felt like she might throw up.
Cursed before... As if the odds had just spat on her face. What were the odds that she'd run into another puppet in a mirror house? Added to the fact that the girl had seemed pretty enough, and nice enough, to have a good life ahead of her. As had Livvy's, but seeing the pain in another person's eyes instead of in a reflection had a differing effect on her. She felt honest sympathy for this girl, not a whimpering self-pity she had begun to see herself with. The sympathy helped her clear her head. After an awkward silence, Livvy simply nodded, standing taller than she had in a long time. She suddenly didn't feel as lonely.

Lyra gave a silent sigh of relief at the girls slight head nod, she didn't feel like an outcast anymore.. She took a deep breathe and leaned her head in a bit more. "Are you trying to hide from him.." She asked timidly, she wasn't sure what she was going to do, but now that she had found an ally, she could sleep better, if she actually was going to sleep.

''I'm actually a little freaked out about this..." She admitted casually, as though she was talking about a change in the weather instead of both of their future's and lives. "What about you.."

Legna sat on a tree stump that was just outside of the mirror house. She was so tired of walking. No wait, wandering. She didn't even know what she was looking for. But her mind was thinking in terms of 'one always goes back to the crime scene.' If there were others, they were sure to be at the carnival. This place was so big and filled with so many people. How was she going to find the ones she was looking for anyways? Legna took in a deep sigh as she lightly swung her legs impatiently, her right foot making a clicking noise as wood hit wood. She looked up to the bright sky. It was a hot summer day, but Legna still wore her jacket. Her hat kept the sun at bay, though.

"Why must the sun be so bright today..." A chilling voice wondered thoughtfully. A small shadow in the back of a very large tent paced slowly. "Why must it be so....Cheerful today..." It pondered. The shadow stopped at a rack filled with hanging objects. It gently stuck a hand out and pushed the objects into each other. They clinked against each other with loud wooden sounds as a low chuckle filled the darkened tent.

"I can fix this..You wait and see.." The voice seemed to smile. Today was the day. And he was ready to play. "But, are they ready to play?'' He wondered... He grabbed a cross-like object with strings tightened to it and began to move it around with obvious ease, the thing on the end bobbed and twirled at his command, it's limbs ever so graceful and light.

The shadow pulled up into a slight ray of the sun, and the puppet was revealed to be an elderly lady with silver hair. Her eyes were painted a brilliant blue and the detailed carving of her many folds of wrinkles was exquisitve. She wore a white nighty..But the one thing that made everyone's hairs stand straight up was the look of terror on this lady's face. A look that said many things....

"Oh mother..." He said to the puppet thoughtfully... "How I've missed you so..." He walked to a switch and pulled the lever, blinking lights appeared all around his gold and crimson tent, a flashing sign appeared on top..

Mr. Puppet Master's Extravaganza

"Let the games begin..." He laughed again, the sound seemed to chill the air, a faint breeze flew by the other puppets, there wooden skin clanking against the others gently..

The lights came on in the tent that was in the farthest back of the carnival and Legna‘s head instantly turned towards it in anticipation. A chill ran up her spine. ‘He’s here already? I thought he would surly wait until nightfall…’ She worriedly thought. She stood, “I must get there before someone else suffers this horrid curse…” Finding the others would have to wait, so, quickly, she made her way through the crowed to the dark colored tent. The lights shone bright, but Legna knew the evil horrors that lay within those limits.

Legna heart speed as she looked around. No one was going to the tent for a puppet show, so far. She stood by the tent that was next to it and watched the people. Surely someone would come that she would recognize, or that would recognize her. The puppets at the house said that there were others, but that's all they said. No description or anything. And those riddles. Legna was never very good at them and still she must try and figure one out evertime that darn puppet opened it's mouth. "The carnival is in town, but only for the summer. Find the other toys, or fall into a dreamless slumber." She repeated the puppets words outloud. She had made the assumption that the puppet meant to come to the carnival to find the others that have been cursed, and then the answers would be revieled. At least that's what she hoped.

"Wake Up!"

A bright spotlight was shined over Macy's unconscious body and the strings were pulled roughly. Her body was forced onto its feet, while their owner was still trying to properly wake up from this fitful sleep. 'Just open your eyes…' Macy slowly let her darkened eyes open and the music began. One cue, her body spun in time with the one attached to her, dancing until the Puppet Master was pleased. Another string was pulled and a painful smile was forced onto her partially wooden face. Near the edge of the stage was a door, with a sign that read 'Exit'. "Don't even think about it, my lovely toy. It took enough time to acquire you." Her focus was forced into the dance once again and Macy tried to imagine herself back in her own room, spinning along to song blasting on her radio.

The puppet king was unhappy as he collapsed into a rocking chair. His breathing was heavy as the chair rocked back and forth. Creeeaaak, went the old rocking chair. The shadow was quite hunchbacked and seemd to quiver, though it was strong when it wanted to be...He gave a small sigh as he heard people outside his tent, for some reason the voices of other human beings always soothed his slightly crazy mind, though not much. He gave a low chuckle as the puppets all around him swayed gently..Though nobody had even touched them... There was something in the air...Something sinister, and unnatural, though to the puppet king, it was the most natural thing in the whole world.

((OOC:{Sleepyhead} Sorry to like scold. But I didn't tell you to get up in my post. Dx I'm apparently your "master" the puppet king, so everything you do shouldn't have me in it..I feel bad now. >>; ))

Livvy thought in her head, Oh no.... Her foot was beginning to burn. She could feel it hardening. She extracted her hand before the girl could offer her name and leaned down to pluck off her shoe, not caring that kids surrounded the mirror house, that she could see herself in a thousand surrounding mirrors, and expression of terror on every one of the replicas, panicked blue eyes, and on the end of her left leg, a brown wooden foot in place of a warm, real one.
Her scream echoed the force of the pain that shot through her legs and into her waist at that moment.
He'd gotten stronger.

Legna sat on the ground in the shade and leaned her headback. It has been a while since she has actually gotten a half-way-decent nights rest. It took weeks for her foot to finally become all wood. She didn't even care really, she just wanted the pain to stop. But it is starting to move up her leg as well. She sighs lightly and closes her eyes, not wanting to see the people staring at her as they passed by. She doesn't even remember falling asleep...
