She put her phone in her pocket. She didn't care for hiding from Mr. Puppet King; she knew he would find her. What she was worried about was people recognizing her. Her face'd been on the news, though only once, advertising the missing 16-year-old. But people go missing all the time. Why should this time be any different? Livvy pulled out a worn picture. It had five people in it. One of them being her, the rest her family. She kissed the photo and stuck it back in her boots. Now was no time for sentimental moments. She had a job to do.
Her life depended on it.

Lyra pulled a piece of hair behind her ear, the strand of hair catching against the diamond stud embedded into it. She sighed, she'd been wanddering around for a couple hours now. And no one seemed particularly nervous like her. Nobody had been lookig for her. And all she had on her person was a silver locket she had had since her grandmother died. Nothing in paricular was precious to her except this locket. Now, to look for the other missing people..... She looked up and saw an outdated newspaper in the trash. She gently picked it up and brushed it off.
HAVE YOU SEEN THIS GIRL?
16 YEAR OLD GONE MISSING. BLONDE.
That's all Lyra read, she knew that she had to go look for this girl and that it might take longer than a few hours. So be it. She would tough it out.
The search, had begun.

All she took was a microwavable meal [why this was in a pawn shop, she didn't know] and a simple makeup cover-up. She had marks on her hands- black marks. They looked like the ruins she studdied in ancient Egypt, yet she wasn't sure why the Puppet guy had put them on her hands. Maybe the other puppets had them too. Maybe it was his way of categorizing. Who knew?
She headed out, the cool air refreshing her face, and boarded the nearest bus stop. She didn't know why, but for some reason had a hunch.

I hadn't known the carnival was in town... Livvy thought with a dark humor. Her foot was stinging again. This was the third time this week. Within the next two days her entire foot would become wooden. She'd managed to keep it from continuing on by using a combonation of bleech and fire, but she couldn't see that holding out for much longer.
She got off the bus-stop at the carnival. There were about seven people waiting to get on. One harassed-looking mother with four kids jumping around her ankles, an overweight man with ketchup stains on his yellow shirt and a girl who looked about Livvy's age. It was the girl who caught Livvy's attention. She looked really uncomfortable, and a silver locket was bouncing on her neck in rhythm to her racing pulse. Livvy hurried to get away from the girl. She was probably about to have some phycotic breakdown.

Lyra stood at the entrance. The mirrors glistened slightly as if they had a secret. At least ten Lyra's stared back and she realized why the girl was scared of her. She looked..crazy. Her hair was slightly crazy with static, and her coat was a little torn from her incident with the train.. She shrugged the weird image off and made her way inside, hoping the girl would be reasonable and not blow her head off..
Into the house of mirrors..Fun fun fun..

It was a sweet Summer saturday afternoon. The clouds that look so pretty in pictures were drifting across the sky. Livvy rememberd wishing she'd brought her camera, just to snap a quick memory. Her mother and father had wandered off to the sketches, and although many of her friends were there, she wasn't in a social mood, and had eventually drifted off to the puppet show. Cynically she'd sat in one of the back seats- the show was surprisingly full. Damning it all now, Livvy wished she had bothered to look at some of the other faces, just to have an inkling of anyone else who might be a puppet...but she didn't. She stared, in a very bad mood, at the stage. The puppet master came out. His ugly apperance she remebered had startled her into paying attention...
Livvy shook her head free of memories and came into a huge open room, just as that same girl who'd been having the breakdown entered the room. Livvy was relieved that she was okay yet wary all the same. Every time the girl's hand twitched Livvy feared she was about to grab a knife from her pants or something...
So sue her. She's a bit paranoid.

"Mum! Dad! I'm going to go look around!" Lyra raced through the crowd after she had told her parents where she was going. The farthest tent in the corner had said "Puppet show". Lyra had been obsessed with puppets ever since she could walk. Her first encounter was when she had learned that as a matter of fact, Elmo was a puppet. She had loved Elmo. She passed tent after tent until she finally reached the one that said puppet show. The tent was cloaked in gold and crimson velvet, along with ebony black ropes. The tent canvas opened to admit her inside and Lyra had looked around in wonder. There were not very many seats only a few. She slipped into one of the front seats, the show had already started and the puppet master had already gone behind the stage.. A small puppet cloaked in a black cloak had come out and started chittering in a very loud voice.
"Come one come all to the famous Mr. Puppet Master's puppet show!" Lyra distinctly noticed that the puppet's eyes seemed to gleam like onyx stones dripping with fire instead of paint, as though the puppet were alive...
Lyra didn't enjoy puppets anymore.
Lyra jolted out of her vision as she saw herself in the mirror. She looked to the other girl and steeled herself for what she was about to do. She walked to the girl and stood right next to her.. She smiled a polite and friendly smile as she said the weirdest thing that would ever start a conversation...
"I feel like I know you, have you ever been cursed before?" Lyra almost winced at what she had said. It was so...Random, but she had a gut feeling, and Lyra trusted her gut more than anything..

Cursed before... As if the odds had just spat on her face. What were the odds that she'd run into another puppet in a mirror house? Added to the fact that the girl had seemed pretty enough, and nice enough, to have a good life ahead of her. As had Livvy's, but seeing the pain in another person's eyes instead of in a reflection had a differing effect on her. She felt honest sympathy for this girl, not a whimpering self-pity she had begun to see herself with. The sympathy helped her clear her head. After an awkward silence, Livvy simply nodded, standing taller than she had in a long time. She suddenly didn't feel as lonely.

''I'm actually a little freaked out about this..." She admitted casually, as though she was talking about a change in the weather instead of both of their future's and lives. "What about you.."

"I can fix this..You wait and see.." The voice seemed to smile. Today was the day. And he was ready to play. "But, are they ready to play?'' He wondered... He grabbed a cross-like object with strings tightened to it and began to move it around with obvious ease, the thing on the end bobbed and twirled at his command, it's limbs ever so graceful and light.
The shadow pulled up into a slight ray of the sun, and the puppet was revealed to be an elderly lady with silver hair. Her eyes were painted a brilliant blue and the detailed carving of her many folds of wrinkles was exquisitve. She wore a white nighty..But the one thing that made everyone's hairs stand straight up was the look of terror on this lady's face. A look that said many things....
"Oh mother..." He said to the puppet thoughtfully... "How I've missed you so..." He walked to a switch and pulled the lever, blinking lights appeared all around his gold and crimson tent, a flashing sign appeared on top..
Mr. Puppet Master's Extravaganza
"Let the games begin..." He laughed again, the sound seemed to chill the air, a faint breeze flew by the other puppets, there wooden skin clanking against the others gently..

A bright spotlight was shined over Macy's unconscious body and the strings were pulled roughly. Her body was forced onto its feet, while their owner was still trying to properly wake up from this fitful sleep. 'Just open your eyes…' Macy slowly let her darkened eyes open and the music began. One cue, her body spun in time with the one attached to her, dancing until the Puppet Master was pleased. Another string was pulled and a painful smile was forced onto her partially wooden face. Near the edge of the stage was a door, with a sign that read 'Exit'. "Don't even think about it, my lovely toy. It took enough time to acquire you." Her focus was forced into the dance once again and Macy tried to imagine herself back in her own room, spinning along to song blasting on her radio.
