"Sporting four hundred and twenty three wounds. Merry and ready, sir!"
Sam's personality has changed mainly due to the many hits to her heads. She speak only when spoken to or whenever she feels that her opinion must be voiced. Otherwise she observes, forgets, re-observes and then gives up observing.
Sam wears Heavy Armor, and her Customized Helmet has a set of speakers implanted to record the objectives during briefing and during battles, however the feature is still experimental so often it comes down to Sam’s instincts (not memory) to carry on.
She fights with a SA Type 142 Service Rifle and a SA Type 300 Side Arm. Of course, she occasionally manages to find other weapons, such as grenades, and uses them as she goes along.
Samantha was no different that the thousands of others that was brought up in the military schools. It was probably thanks for being a woman that Sam managed to do well in her classes, being an above average student when it came to theory and studies, yet when it came to her physical form…She was below the average, never really able to keep up with rest of the boys or girls.
The real reason for why Sam ended up in the infantry, and not an officer, was due to her personal life. A sudden break-up with her boyfriend devastated her, and on her finals, she failed so miserably that it stripped her from her dreams of being ranked.
Her first deployment to battle ended in a disaster, her leg was blown away and hit against a concrete wall was but the start for her mental decline. She spend three months on a Hospital Fleet and when she recovered she returned to her former company.
Battle after battle, she kept on being sent to the Hospital Fleet. Every time she returned she was stronger than before as her mechanical replacements (marginally) enhanced her strength and speed. Also, her sense of danger declined, making her take on the more foolhardy missions and she was moved from the infantry to the shock, serving as a stubborn soldier who took hit after hit she would cover her fellow soldiers as they moved into position.
When they approached Haven, it was suggested to move Sam from her original regiment and into the 10th, as they would “need a shield to take a bit of pounding.” As the officer said.
