Pollux Menara

"Am I stronger now?"

0 · 397 views · located in Hantra

a character in “Of gods and Men”, as played by Harta

Description

Name: Pollux Menara
Nickname: N/A
Age: 18
Gender: Male

Race: Kotera
Profession: Guard
Role: Defender
Magic: Alchemy. Pollux is a master at alchemy, having practiced it his whole life.
Weapon(s): His alchemy. Comprehension, Deconstruction, and Reconstruction. Once you understand the sequence of alchemy, only then can you start to learn it. Pollux is capable of breaking down objects, making them as if explode in midair and even reshape them into another form--such as a weapon (knife, sword, spear, etc). Though remember the laws of Equivalent Exchange: "In order to obtain or create something, something of equal value must be lost or destroyed."

After an incident in his life, he is able to perform alchemy without a Transmutation Circle. What he needs to do is clasp the palms of his hands together, which makes his own transmutation circle in a rather different form.

Orientation: He doesn't know, doesn't really care
Relationship status: Single
Past relationships: There was that odd girl from his past who was the first person to actually make his heart tug...But other than that, not really. And besides, nobody ever gave him a second glance. He's nothing but a nobody in the world. A shadow.

Hair color: Jet black with strands of white
Eye color: Blue
Height: 5' 11"
Build: Thin to the point of looking scrawny. But under his clothes is a rather toned body with visible muscles.
Disabilities: An odd and large scar that seems like a symbol of some sort on his chest, which hurts like freaking crazy when hit with brutal force. That, and his uneasy nerves which has the habit of acting up and sending jolts of lighting pain throughout his body. Or worse, it can also effect his muscles, causing him to go limp and unable to move.
Style: Dark clothing, mostly black. He always wears clothes with long sleeves and pants that goes all the way down to his heels. Because of this, his arms and legs are always covered. He also has the habit of wearing gloves that also covers his hands.

Appearance:

Personality: Being unloved has cause most emotions out of him, and he was unable to laugh or make a joke. There was nobody to share joy with. Because of this, Pollux is a very closed person who seems never to want to express himself. But he is strong willed, and strong-minded (at least he thinks so), and unfortunately he is very selfish and arrogant. You can easily see him pushing other people out of the way for his own needs. But he shares a smile every once in a while, but it's a rare sight.

(some traits will happen later in the roleplay. I'm just way too lazy to edit again :'D *shot*)

Strengths: Pollux's will and promise of protecting his Priestess is enough to drive him to go through any fight, no matter the pain. He could be bleeding on the floor, battered and beaten, then he would hear her call out his name. Willpower, strength...it'll flow right through his veins quicker than fire and he'll punch the ground and emerge back on his feet.

Other than his heart and pride, his years of hard work has given him the advantage of mastering hand-to-hand combats and alchemy. His reflexes are fast and he doesn't get surprised easily. His strong personality is also his strength, meaning that it'll take a lot to break him.

His two metal arms and metal leg can also be included as a strength too, Pollux being able to use them as a personal shield.

Weaknesses: A Manatium/Lantzium addict. He wants it, he needs it, he lives for it, he breathes it. Besides, he needs it for his magic. Needs it so much that the author bolded, underlined, and put italics due to the level of importance. One day without the substance in his hands is enough to drive him insane. It also makes him stupidly reckless.

His arrogance is also a vital weakness, making Pollux an easy target for mages. And he would do anything to protect his Priestess...even sacrificing people along the way wouldn't bother him at all as long as she was safe.

His artificial limbs can also be a problem nowadays. They needed to be oiled correctly, fit with the right bolts and screws and everything. And when they aren't, the metal would get rusted and start doing annoying squeaking sounds and wouldn't move correctly and could even completely halt in the middle of a battle and...ARGH!

Talents: A master in alchemy.
Location: Right now Pollux is in Zanaterra.

History:
Not a very pretty story to tell but since it's required then...Here we go.
It was at a young age when Pollux lost his family: his mother, father, and elder brother. (cliche tragic, eh? get over it.) Nobody wanted him, nobody cared about him. He didn't understand why, but people shunned him. It was probably because of his parent's name, and their past occupation and history. And how it seemed that it was his fault for their deaths. Maybe was. Probably was.
Pollux had no home, not a single person to go to...So how was he going to spend his life as an unwanted orphan? He roamed the streets with an irreparable hole in his heart, sleeping anywhere and anytime he can, caught dirty sewer rats to eat and stole food from stores to consume lateron. He trusted luck though, and hoped for the best.
Too long. Too long has time passed and his luck did not change. He was a very diseased boy after such a long time, and he knew he was going to die.
But one certain miserable day, at the age of eight, something happened. Pollux was letting it all out, crying and sobbing till he could barely breath. Then he heard a voice. At first he thought it was a Goddess, but turned out to be an obnoxious girl in his eyes. He tried to hurt her. He hated anybody in such a clean and un-miserable state. But then she did something that completely changed his life forever.

She had offered him some food.

The girl--who he later called "Taya"--turned out to be a real Goddess, to him. She invited him more and told him stories of herself (though he made sure to say nothing about his own stories. What if she got scared and went away?) , and after a few days of meeting each other he started to realize that he liked her company. Loved it, as a manner of fact. Years passed, and he knew that she was irreplaceable. She was the only person keeping him alive, the only person to actually realize his existence, the only person to actually give feelings and emotions into his heart after his dead family. But then at the age of eleven, a horrible thought struck him.

What if he lost her?

"I've decided to become strong."

Those were the words Pollux said to Gallataya when he left. After days of thinking, he knew that he couldn't afford to lose her. What if he couldn't keep her safe like his family? What if somebody tried to hurt her and he couldn't help? It was enough to make a decision, and he left, the memory of their pinky promise permanently stuck in his mind.

Pollux ended up in the Forbidden lands, where a desert monster attacked him. He knew alchemy, but only the little amount that he had learned from his father. All he could do was send a block of rock flying at the monster before he was knocked out unconscious.
He woke up later in a tent with a roaring fire. Where another 360 turn was about to happen in his life.

He had been saved by a Fortum tribe, where they had taken him to their "primitive" home on the outskirts of the Forbidden lands. There, he learned that they were breath-taking mages that were able to gather Lantzium from the air and harness it. They knew alchemy too. Pollux then spent his next years there, staying with the Fortum tribe and learning from them. They had taken him in for his slight talent with alchemy when he dueled the forbidden land beast, though it did need tons of work. More years passed, and he was a master of Alchemy, though he couldn't exactly make Lantzium come to his hand from the air. But that didn't matter, right? He had heaps of them in his pocket.
The tribe neither shunned nor accepted him. It wasn't as if he could make any friends. Heck, only a handful of the adults there let him stay because of his progress in alchemy. But he didn't mind much. It was probably how it should be.

It was one day when Pollux was roaming one of the tribe's ancient libraries did he come across an eye-catching topic in a very ancient book. Resurrection. Bringing the dead back to life. The name was familiar to him and then he remembered. It was the thing that his family was so absorbed in. It was the thing that his family died in the hands in. And he knew that he had to continue their research, for their sake and for his own greedy needs. So he plunged into the forbidden knowledge that was Human Resurrection, in hopes of being able to bring his family back from the dead. In the midst of his research, Mallark--one of the tribe's wise adults--found him. And just when he thought that he was going to be ratted out, Pollux was more than surprised Mallark looked him straight in the eye and said, "I will benefit you if you benefit me."

A lover. That was what Mallark lost and wanted back. He was a strong alchemist, and the two spend weeks and weeks secretly gathering the correct ingredients and formulas for the resurrection. There was no friendship between them, just knowing that they needed to help each other to achieve their goal. Their hopes and hearts were up in the air, they were ready for the ritual.

Failed. That was what happened. One cloudy night, the two attempted it. Drew a Transmutation Circle in the ground of dirt and made a vow. Mallark and Pollux gave a few drops of blood for sacrifice and what happened next?
Disaster. Absolute disaster. There was lighting and flashes everywhere, and before Pollux even knew what was happening, his arms and leg was disappearing before his very eyes. They appeared to have dissolved into the air, taken away. A sacrifice. A petty sacrifice. None of his family was there to help him.
The Fortum tribe found Pollux the next morning in a pool of his own blood, missing both his arms and his leg. Next to him, his severed hand lay tattered on the floor. Mallark was nowhere in sight. Searches went out for him, but he was gone. As if disappeared right into the air itself. The tribe immediately aided Pollux and fixed him up, and he awoke the next day with artificial limbs. The smart tribe scientists and mages had given him a pair of arms made out of metal, along with the leg and even attached his human hand onto the left wrist of his artificial arm. He was able to move them, though it took a bit longer than hoped to get used to them. And he was even conscious when his nerves and the limbs connected. It was enough to make the strongest man scream out in agony.
His body was a gruesome sight, which is why he always covers his entire figure in clothes. Not only that, but a horrific bloody scar was embedded into his chest, as if a reminder from Aryella. His hair was also tainted with white strands, as if some had aged quicker than supposed to. But another thing did happen, on the bright side. He realized that he could perform alchemy without a Transmutation Circle. He kept in mind to research later.

Pollux knew that what he did was forbidden. It was unallowed. And he had to pay the price. The Fortum tribe were whispering seriously to each other then, worrying that Pollux had awakened a Demon. Pollux could easily take a hint, and the next day he thanked the tribe and bid farewell, walking off with his clanking arms and legs.

Walking and walking...once again.

Family: All deceased.
Enemies: Whoever tries to hurt or threaten the Priestess. And some other people in his secret list of enemies.

So begins...
