"Like what you see?"

a character in “Of the Pagelings: Another Chapter”, as played by Nivosity

Description

Image

Name: James 'Nebula' Reyton

Appearance: Black hair that seems to fade to silver at the edges, matched with brilliant silver-grey eyes, Neb (as he so calls himself) is fastidiously proud of his own appearance. He carries around a pair of glasses, but hey, they're just a fashion statement because his eyesight doesn't really need correction. He doesn't walk - he struts, and he carries himself arrogantly. Not humble in the slightest. He prefers clothing of black and expensive-make and silver chains drip from his pockets.

Age Appearance: 17

Genre: Science Fantasy

Personality: Brash, refuses to think before he acts, and loud-mouthed with a preference towards becoming an insult-happy git (especially towards those he hates), James really has very little good traits. Well, he’s not deliberately cruel to those that he likes and actually feels tinges of pity when passing those that are less fortunate, but he’s not all that willing to act on this feeling. His ability to delude himself into believing that he’s in love to is really a magic skill in and out of itself.

While he likes to pretend that he really doesn’t care about responsibility or that entire mess, he actually has a pretty strong sense of morality. So he's not going to break the law or hurt someone deliberately - he just doesn't think before he does it. It's led him into more scrapes than you can shake a stick at, yet he usually comes out with fortune on his side.

The only thing sharper than his insulting tongue is his anger. Especially when someone disobeys his actions. He's bossy, thinks that he's better than you, and therefore gets mad to the point of throwing fists. But other than that, he's normally pretty happy with life in general. He tends to flirt constantly - unknowingly. Since he tends to just blurt out the first things that pop into his mind, he usually doesn't find out what exactly he's saying until it's too late.

He likes science and new technologies - computers, cell phones, the whole lot. He'd much rather try to rationalize any strange occurrences through science instead of believing in variable, nonexistent things like magic or religion. Another thing that he doesn't believe in is listening to authority.

Abilities: Arcane healing. By transferring injuries to his own body (albeit 25% less severe), he is able to take on the injuries of his allies. It takes medium amounts of energy, but can only be used at a risk to his own life. Added with his ability to basically 'street-brawl' without paying attention to his surroundings, well, er... someone has to keep an eye out for him or he'll accidentally kill himself. His Papercraft ability is still nonexistent, but in the future he will be gaining inanimate papercraft. Right now though, he never seems to lack paper when he wants it.

Weapons: His fists, but more commonly, his tongue. Nothing that he ever does with his fists really fits inside a set technique other than 'whatever seems to be good at the moment'. He mainly focuses on trying to produce as much pain as possible in the shortest amount of time. He could probably throw his chains at you too - but as they're made out of pure silver, he likes them too much to get rid of them.

Oddities: He really really hates dogs.

So begins...

Kai

As Kai looked worriedly at the boy, the other one reacted differently that expected. He jerked forward, only to drop back again, groaning in pain. He said he was alive, but was then distracted by a voice calling a name. Kai guessed it was his, because he responded. After a short conversing with the girl, Ryu turned his attention back to Kai. How many of them are there? Kai asked himself inwardly. "Where's Takashi? Did she come? Where'd that Fallen go? Who are you?" The boy asked frantically. Kai simply looked at him. He wasn't about to answer any of those questions without knowing what was going on.

"I don't know. Do you expect me to tell you? I don't even know what the hell a fallen is. And do you think I would tell you?" Kai said. His words were sharp, but he kept his voice low and calm. He stood up and took a few steps away from the boy. Just as he was about to begin asking his own questions, Takashi came flying through the trees, landing with a painful thud. She stood up, looking furious, bloody and somehow still gorgeous. Kai surprised a smile. The same girl from before came after her. The once white hair was streaked with blood and dirt, although once again it didn't diminish her exotic beauty. Ryu stood up and said something about another round, but the pageling was focused on Takashi. They all said some things, but Kai's mind was drifting. He didn't start paying attention until he Ryu stepped in front of him, protectively.

Kai literally had to fight to not roll his eyes. He did not need protecting. The cruel smile on the "Fallen's" face faded into a scowl. Why was she looking at him that way? She turned and disappeared into the woods, and Ryu started going on about how they would get her, but Takashi sharply cut him off. Kai listened to the exchange between the two of them, but he kept his eyes on the trees. When he brought his mind back to the people with him, he turned to see Takashi leaning on Ryu, and he was patting her head. He raised an eyebrow. Surely somewhere he had missed something. Ryu called the others out, and said it was okay not to hide anymore.

"Alright. I have been extremely patient while you fight some hot blonde chick," he pointed to Takashi, " and while you bombarded me with questions, talked to some hidden girl and then tried to protect me," he said his voice raising. "Now I want answers Takashi. What is going on? Who was that girl? What is a ward? And am I yours? What happened to your last one? Am I just a replacement until whatever the hell you do goes wrong?" He asked, hardly taking a breath between questions. "Why were you surprised when I did this?" He began making a sword, using long movements. Soon enough a sword appeared in Kai's hand as he took it out of an invisible sheath. This time he did it quickly, and threw it on the ground almost as soon as he'd made it. It took a few seconds to disappear, but it did. He began pacing back and forth. He was very impatient and as illogical as it is, he wanted all of his questions answered right then and there at the same time. Waiting was not on his list of things to do.

Suddenly, a hawk flew above the sky, cawing out. It wasn't a rare sight, but it was enough to distract Kai. "Hey Takashi look at that!" The childish glee was back to his voice, but it didn't last long. "No wait. Don't. Answer my questions."

Lydia

Lydia bounced up and down on the balls of her feet. She breathed in and out, shaking out her arms. Her brown hair was pulled into a tight knot at the back of her head. She took one last breath and began running across the mat. She flipped forward, placing her powered hands on the ground. Her movements were flawless, or so it seemed. She always found mistakes while watching her recorded practices. Although, this wasn't gym practice, it was agility and fighting practice. Her moves were a mix gymnastics, Hankido and Hapkido. The combination created a beautiful show, however if you were to come across her, it became deadly. Losing her balance, she slips and fell hard on her back. The wind was knocked out of her, but it wasn't anything she wasn't used to.

After showering and putting on her favorite outfit, coral colored shorts and a cream colored v-neck, she walked out of the gym seeking out her father. Today, she had her whip fashioned as a belt. It was hidden by her top, but if anyone were to see it, they'd take it as a fashion statement. After talking with her dad for a few minutes, she was given a piece of paper with the information of her ward on it. His name, age, and grade were written next to a picture of him. He father gave her the advice that he might hang out at the library or possibly the park considering it was nice out today. She thought she'd seen him around school some, but she'd just have to see now wouldn't she.

Lydia stuffed the noted in her pocket and began making her way towards the park. "Hi," she began speaking to herself. She kept her voice low though, so that no one could hear what she was saying. "My name is Lydia Vivire. No need to introduce yourself, I know who you are. No, no, no! That sounds so stalkerish," She sighed. Taking a deep breath, she tried again. "Hello, I'm Lydia. It's really nice to meet you finally." Lydia clenched her fists and let out a frustrated sigh."Finally? That's even worse! Okay, alright Lydia. you got this. Hi, I'm Lydia. You're special, and I'm here to protect you." She slapped her forehead and gave up. Maybe the right words would come to her when the time came. She entered the park and began looking around. She pulled out the paper again and studied his picture.
