Sarah Marie Roberts was getting sick of long car rides. Her mother father and herself had been stuffed into a large Uhaul and were almost finished the long drive to their new home of Oasis. She didn’t know much about the town other than it was a small one, didn’t make the news or anything so she assumed it was a relatively peaceful town. She sighed as her parents once again oohed and ahhed over the scenery for the one hundredth time and she forced herself to smile along with them. They seemed so happy about this move and she didn’t want to rain on their parade.
Sarah Marie would have much rather stayed back at their apartment in New York. She missed her friends and her room, but she had told herself new things were good as well and she hoped that this town would at least make her happy. She looked back down at her book and read herself to sleep. She woke to the sound of squeaky brakes and felt the Uhaul come to a halt in front of their new home. It was a simple looking home with a wrap around porch and hanging flower baskets. The yard was well tended too and she was happy to stretch out her legs on the grass. She lifted her arms to the sky and then was caught in a hug between her mother and father. “Welcome to our new home.” Her father said happily as he bounded towards the green front door, his mother quickly tailing behind him. Sarah took another look at it and she glanced around the block and then headed inside.
Sarah found her room to be a soft purple and she liked it. The movers brought in her bed and book cases and she spent most of the day setting up her room. She and her parents settled nicely into the house and she was happy with what they had accomplished. Sarah went to bed thinking that maybe she would be happy here after all, it seemed like a nice place.
She woke the next morning with a good feeling, it was the first day of school for her and she gathered her things together and packed her messenger bag. She dressed in a pair of comfy jeans and plain white tank top. She painstakingly brushed her hair only to have it spring back to the way it way before. She sighed and went downstairs to make herself some toast which she munched happily on the way to school.
