w e i g h t . . . 114

a p p e a r a n c e . . . Tanned skin, messy blonde hair, and grey eyes. She doesn't considered herself very remarkable. When she has her mask on, she usually keeps her hair in a pony tail or just leaves it down, never much more than that. She positively despises all makeup save chapstick.

Personality

p e r s o n a l i t y . . . She is often perceived as shy and reserved to ridiculous heights. Along with her face covered, she is mute and speaks using a notepad and pencil.
However, when she warms up to you, she often shows a side that’s rebellious, sarcastic, and surprisingly perverted. She’s good at keeping her other side in check.
She is also clumsy, which infuriates her to no end.
c r u s h . . . TBA
d a n g e r l e v e l . . . A four. Although she would never willingly use her ability, if she gets desperate enough in a fight...
[b]a s p i r a t i o n s . . . She just wants to meet someone who can understand her (literally), romantic or not.

q u i r k s / o d d i t i e s . . . If she runs out of room on her notepad, or gets impatient, she uses sign language.
s k i l l s . . . She seems to have a natural instinct as to what’s bothering people, whether it’s pain or feelings. Otherwise, she has a good aim.
f i v e g o o d t r a i t s . . . Calm, Collected, Observant, Rebellious, and Patient.
f i v e b a d t r a i t s . . . Timid, Shy, Clumsy, Boring, and a bit of a Slow Thinker.

History

b i o . . . Lyric Manning was never exactly a boisterous child. As soon as she was aware of her ability, she strove to use it the least amount possible. Therefore, she became mute. It frustrated her teachers and any friends she might’ve already had, and she was quickly isolated. She was only too happy to sink into the wall and let others live out their lives and drama. The way she sees it is that if she can see what people do and the consequences, she won’t have to make the same mistake.
Among the group of rebels, she often feels like others’ rock, even if she’s one of the youngest. She is known for her ability to be the shoulder everyone cries on or their rock, unchanging. She has no desire to ever be the center of attention, or really do anything. She’s happy to be the supporting character in others’ lives, and she does a good job of it. While she has a heightened sense of empathy, her sense of self is practically nonexistent. If her friends are in danger, she’d take the bullet without a second thought. Although she’s shy, she doesn’t care much about her safety.
o n e g r e a t e s t f e a r . . . Speaking
o n e g r e a t e s t s e c r e t . . . Her ability. She’d rather have people believe she doesn’t have one.

This is the story of a girl
Who cried a river and drowned the whole world
And while she looked so sad in photographs
I absolutely love her
When she smiles

Now how many days in a year
She woke up with hope
But she only found tears
And I can be so insincere
Making her promises never for real
As long as she stands there waiting
Wearing the holes in the soles of her shoes
Now how many days disappear
When you look in the mirror
So how do you choose

Your clothes never wear as well the next day
And your hair never falls in quite the same way
You never seem to run out of things to say

This is the story of a girl
Who cried a river and drowned the whole world
And while she looked so sad in photographs
I absolutely love her
When she smiles

Now how many lovers would stay
Just to put up with this shit day after day
Now how did we wind up this way
Watching our mouths for the words that we say
As long as we stand here waiting
Wearing the clothes or the soles that we choose
Now how do we get there today
When we're walking too far for the price of our shoes

Your clothes never wear as well the next day
And your hair never falls in quite the same way
But you never seem to run out of things to say

This is the story of a girl
Who cried a river and drowned the whole world
And while she looks so sad and lonely there
I absolutely love her
When she smiles

[Guitar solo]

Well your clothes never wear as well the next day
And your hair never falls in quite the same way
You never seem to run out of things to say

This is the story of a girl
Who cried a river and drowned the whole world
And while she looks so sad in photographs
I absolutely love her

This is the story of a girl
Whose pretty face she hid from the world
And while she looks so sad and lonely there
I absolutely love her

This is the story of a girl
Who cried a river and drowned the whole world
And while she looked so sad in photographs
I absolutely love her
When she smiles
When she smiles!

Lyric finished her lunch in silence. She stood up, threw it away, and walked back to her seat silently. Nothing was abnormal, nor was it remotely interesting. She didn't exactly sit alone, but she did often. Her table was a bit like the rejects' corner: only a couple other kids would sit there, and only then when there wasn't room at their usual table or they'd gotten in trouble and moved into near-solitary confinement. Lyric didn't complain for two reasons: firstly, she didn't really mind. Although she never talked, she certainly appreciated others' presences. And secondly, no one would listen, anyway. Mostly because she didn't make any sound.

Ever.

She hadn't spoken since before she could remember. She knew how to talk, obviously, but she was frightened of the outcomes. But enough about that, she had to get to class. Although she never contributed in class (when forced, she simply held up her notepad, much to the spite of her teachers and mirth of her fellow students), she still enjoyed school to an extent. Her next class was a fairly easy course - Language Arts. Feeling a bit bored, she made her way to the class room and sat down in the back. To use up some of the extra time, she read a few pages of her current book. It was a particularly amazing recount of great adventure - though of course leaving out any mention of the "L" word (that is, love). She didn't bother looking up as her classmates slowly filled into the seats around her.

Cassidy sat back in her chair with her mask up, just finishing what she'd packed herself for lunch. The detention room was empty as usual for the lunch period so there was no point in wearing her mask, but all too soon the kids who had either acted out, skipped too many classes or whatever else got them landed here started to arrive.

She slid her mask on just as the teacher walked in, Cass heard her thoughts as she approached the desk at the front of the room. As usual she was thinking somewhat offensive thoughts about the students she was charged with. The poor woman was never happy to be here and often thought of her own bitter existence, the brat kid she was forced to deal with day in and day out, and the brat kids she dealt with here. Cassi's only offence was her ability, but it stuck her with these fools, and unfortunately for her, most were dumb as a door nail.

With a sigh she kicked up her feet to one of the bars that divided the rows of chairs and twirled one of her rings as she waited for the teachers assistant for the class she was supposed to be attending to arrive. More or less it was just another student from the class coming to tell her what she was supposed to do for the day. After lunch she had Language Arts, nothing to difficult, but then again she didn't care enough to do the work half the time, and even when she did, she had little knowledge of the subject to make anyone think anything of her.
