xxx✦ Charming ✧ Hot-Headed ✦ Friendly ✧ Unstable ✦ Intelligent ✦
╚═════════════════════════════════════════╝

Jasper has always been a pretty happy-go-lucky type of guy. He’s constantly laughing, smiling, having a good time. He is friendly to nearly everyone he meets, and if they’re kind back, that’s even better. Of course, his friendliness does often turn to playful teasing, most especially if it involves the opposite sex. He’s pretty flirtatious. Some find it charming, others find it sort of annoying, but he continues to do it none-the-less. He’s pretty innocent about it however, not expecting anything to come out of it. Jasper’s just always been that way, so it’s engraved into his personality. He barley even notices when he does it anymore; it’s more instinct than deliberate. He’s kind of Naïve.

He’s even a pretty smart guy. Though his photogenic memory allows him to not try too hard in school, he still retains information like a sponge. He can pick up things pretty quickly because of it. Theory has never been hard, it’s only the skill he must work on. He’s not cocky about it though, he barley ever mentions his photogenic memory. If it comes up, yeah he’ll admit it, but it’s not of much importance to him. It’s just how he is.

Due to the accident, however, it’s harder for him to always be as cheery as he once was. He tries desperately to forget his past and carry on as if nothing happened, but there are signs of trauma in the way he acts. Before, people could push and shove him with little to no reaction other than and exaggerated eye roll. Now, if something truly bothers him, his short fuse is set off. His emotions became pretty unstable, and it gets even worse when he tries to push them back. They all get bottled up too much too fast and they come spilling out in almost a destructive manner with barely anything to get him out of it.

Intelligent - Well, he's not so much intelligent as much as he simply remembers every little detail thanks to his photographic memory. He get's good grades because of it.
Strong - Jasper is a healthy kid, he likes to keep his strength up especially since he's on the football team and all now.
Kind - Jasper will make a friend out of everyone he sees; he's just nice to everyone in his own way.

Trust Issues - Though people can put their trust in him with no concern, he still finds it hard to fully trust anyone himself.
Short Temper - another fault of the mood swings. He can get easily set off if it's something to get upset about.
PTSD - Since the accident, he's dealt with PTSD. It's pretty mild, but the photogenic memory makes the flashbacks so much more vivid.
Up In The Clouds - He takes anxiety and depression medicines sometimes when things get back, but they leave him pretty muddled in the head where he can't think too straight and he becomes a bit day-dreamy.

Q U I R K S
Photogenic Memory - Though his photogenic memory isn't perfect if he focuses on something he remembers it right away and for a very long time.
Snaps Fingers - When he's deep in thought, he has a tendency to snap his fingers randomly.
Always Has a Pen - Whether it be in his pocket, behind his ear, or backpack, he will always have a pen. It always seems too many people go without one in his mind.

Adoptive Mother || Lillian Callow || Alive
Adoptive Father || Ryan Callow || Alive
Birth Mother || Delilah Bure || Alive

Jasper’s life started out with a rough couple of years. His father was never in the picture; his mother didn’t know who he was. Jasper was all his mother had, and his mother was all he had as well. They were pretty dirt poor, barley able to afford their little one-bedroom apartment as it was. His mother was kind enough to give him her bedroom when he had turned five years old but he didn’t live in there for long. His mother had a drug problem and was always bringing strange men she claimed to be her various ‘friends’ or ‘boyfriends’ over. Jasper never liked to admit it, but they scared him a lot. Not as much as the thought of them hurting his mother of course, which they obviously were doing considering the various bruises she claimed to be from falling down steps and running into door knobs. He was very young, but he wasn’t at all stupid enough to believe that. One day she said she was going on a trip for a couple of days, and told the five-year-old there was food in the fridge and that Miss Veronica downstairs would check up on him periodically. In the end, the women never did, and so on the second day, Jasper called 911 in fear the women downstairs had died. Turns out, she simply forgot to check up on him, and when the police came to Jasper’s door and noticed the trash of an apartment and the obvious absence of a mother, they took him away.

Turns out, Jasper had family other than his mother after all. His mother’s sister came to pick him up and adopted him right away, as she and her husband couldn’t have kids themselves. It turns out Jasper’s mother was estranged from the family, and that they had no idea he had existed in the first place. So off he went, out of his mother’s life and into his Aunts and Uncles -- his new adoptive parents. They were pretty wealthy and lived in Scarsdale, NY. Quickly he was introduced to other children in the rich little suburb through his parent’s inner circle, and low and behold, he befriended four other kids; Esme, Eva, Ben, and Calla. They did absolutely everything together. They were each others entire worlds and his self-proclaimed second family.

Jasper didn’t talk much about his real mother. He hasn’t even told his friend he was adopted until he was about twelve years old, and that’s only because his Aunt and Uncle brought it up thinking the four already knew. Jasper was still in contact with his birth mother. He didn’t hold any resentment, and still loved the woman who did take care of him for all those years. She was in a rehab program and was getting back on her feet. Of course throughout the years, there were various relapses, but every time, she caught herself quicker and quicker. He always had people in abundance to talk to about this, except for one day, when most of them tragically passed away.

Jasper was sixteen and had gone into the city to hang out and go to the beach with his friends. On the way back in to town, a drunk driver had hit them causing them to go off the road and tumble into a ditch. He was told Eva and Ben who were in the front seat died on impact, but Calla who sat beside Esme had died right after she was pried from the car. He remembered everything pretty vividly; The contorted limbs of his bloody friends, the cries of Esme beside him. It was traumatic, and he knows he will remember nearly every detail of it for the rest of his life.

He was in the hospital for awhile. He had to have spinal surgery, but that was as bad as his injuries got. Of course, he had therapy and a bunch of pills to calm him down. He visited Esme a lot who was only a couple of rooms away from him, and they often commiserated together. They became pretty co-dependent.He got out of the hospital before she did, and he waited, wanting things to get semi-back to normal. However as soon as Esme was done nearly all her treatment, her parents had shipped her off, leaving Jasper completely alone. His parents had been the ones to suggest he go to the Paris boarding school as well, seeing he was miserable and unable to get over what had happened. So he did.

White Lies /|\ Son Lux

We wake with bright eyes now
Ours is a white lies town

They take all of our young
      They cut out our tongue
      Oh, how we are deceived
      We're strong and we're free
And as they sharpen their swords
      We follow their lead
And all that we swallow, that we become
And we are, what we all are

But we wake with bright eyes now
Ours is a white lies town
But we wake with bright eyes now
Ours is a white lies town

They take all of our young
      They empty our lungs
      Oh, how we are misled
      And this means
We're strong and we are free
      And what we swallow
      That we receive
      The fruits from that tree
      And what we follow
      That we become
      We are what we've become

But we wake with bright eyes now
Ours is a white lies town
      Bright eyes now
      Ours is white lies town

We wake with white eyes now
We are the white lies now

Cady couldn't believe she was actually here. She finally had a chance to be who she wanted to be without her money or family getting in the way. She had a chance to live like any other normal teenager in the world. Of course she loved her parents, regardless of all the bullshit she went through because of them, but it was nice to get away from it all.

As of right now, she found herself sitting on the edge of the fountain in the center of campus, waiting to hear from Jared. He said he would catch up with her after he unpacked, but it's been about six hours since then and it never took that long to unpack two bags. "Where the hell are you?" she thought to herself as she pulled her phone out to check the time. 5:45, he had more than enough time. What was keeping him?

Cady slid her phone back into her pocket and tucked her hair behind her ears. With a sigh she stood to her feet and decided to walk around campus for a bit, maybe even try to interact with some of the other students. Of course she knew that to many of the students who have been here for a couple years would realize she was new, but at this point she honestly didn't care. She didn't mind being the talk of the campus for a bit. It was inevitable to happen.

Jared went straight to unpacking when he got to the school. He figured he mind as well get it out of the way so he told Cady he would meet up with her in a couple hours. But as he was making his way out of his dorm, he spotted a couple females and just couldn't help himself from sticking around and flirting a bit. After all, Jared loved the ladies and he was never afraid to admit it. The next thing he knew it was almost six o'clock. "Damn it, I'm late," he mumbled to himself as he departed from the females without a word and continued on his way towards the fountain.

As he began to approach, he spotted Cady speaking to a platinum blonde and a brunette. The two were quite gorgeous in his opinion. "Hey, Cady Cat! There you are," Jared exclaimed as he wrapped his arms around Cady in a hug. As he embraced her, he could sense that she seemed a bit tense but just thought it was because of a new atmosphere. Cady wrapped her arms around him returning the hug and pulled away with a smile. "I see you're making some new friends," Jared added as he turned his attention to the females. "Yeah, I guess so," she answered with an unsure tone and tucked her blonde strands behind her ear. "I'm Jared," he introduced. After a brief moment of waiting on the others to introduce themselves he added, "Sorry to cut this short, but do either of you know where I could find Jasper Callow?" he questioned.

Jared met Jasper during orientation and the two of them seemed to become good friends just from those couple of hours they spent together. It would be nice to catch up with him again and also introduce him to Cady. Ever since he told her about him she has been offering to meet his new friend.

Esme was a patient person, but dang, did she have her limits.

It was more anticipation than anything that the newly found impatient air was conjured from. She just couldn't help but feel excited. Her best and oldest friend was coming to the school, and she honestly couldn't wait. Literally. His transfer came as quite a surprise to her originally, though it was a happy surprise. Esme had come to the boarding school about mid-semester the previous year due to some very unfortunate circumstances and had to leave Jasper by himself, who was also involved in the unfortunate circumstance. It was a very reluctant move, but she couldn't argue. She was in no mental state to do that, and her parents were in equal mental distress-- which is why they sent her away in the first place. It was hard enough on her losing a sister, but for a parent to lose their child and have to look at a second daughter they almost lost as well, it made sense sort of. At least, she wanted it to make sense.

Esme had yet to see Jasper since she left a couple of months back for the school. She would have seen him at the current year’s orientation, but she had extended her trip in Spain for a couple of days as per her grandparent’s request. She really couldn’t tell them no. If she had known Jasper was going to orientation, well, it might have been a different story then, but apparently he had wanted to keep his transfer a surprise. She could have kicked him for it, but she was too happy to care.

As soon as she got to the school, she had dumped her things in her room a little chaotically, but decided that while she was waiting for Jaspers text saying to meet him, she could clean up a bit for her roommate’s sake. The last thing she wanted was for Mel to walk into their room and trip over one of her sketchbooks or bags she’d left sitting on the ground, no, she wouldn’t be too pleased with that.

After she shoved her clothes into the dressers and tried as best she could to neatly arrange her art stuff on her desk, she threw on some fresh clothes that didn’t make her feel all gross and uncomfortable for having worn them on such a long plane ride. As if on cue, her phone buzzed, and Esme flipped it open and managed to get to her inbox and open the message. Yeah, the flip phone was old and low-tech, but that’s what was good about it. It was simple. She could never find out how to work those fancy phones.

“Let’s meet by the fountains. I think I can manage to find those at least. Want to grab food?
- Jasper”

Esme grinned from ear to ear, typing back “Yeah, of course! Be down there in a minute!” After slipping her phone into her purse, she quickly wrote a note on a piece of paper and left it on the door for Mel. It read, “Going to meet a friend by the fountains to get dinner. Come join us if you’re free!” Esme defiantly wanted Mel to meet Jasper, she’d already heard so much about him. Mel was actually the only person who knew Esme’s history currently, and Jasper was a big part of that, most especially with the most recent developments of the deaths.

But with that, she ran off in her completely eager mood.

She had only just gotten into eyesight of the fountains before she ran right smack into Jasper, who was very nearly a whole foot taller than her. She nearly fell over, but a hand suddenly gripped her forearm to steady her. “I know most girls fall head over heels for me, but never this literally,” sounded the chuckling voice of the blonde haired boy grinning down at her with his notorious boyish smirk. Esme gave him an exasperated look, but all to quickly it turned into a wide grin, and she threw herself into his arms with a loud, happy laugh. “Come on! That’s the first thing you say to me in months?” She rolled her eyes over dramatically, as he set her down from the large hug. Looking up the face she grew up beside most of her life, a calmness was sent through her that she hadn’t felt for a long time, probably since before the crash. She almost felt like she wanted to cry, but didn’t want to make herself a useless blubbering fool. Jasper grinned back, his own pure joy seeping through. “Well, I was planning on a whole surprise, remember? I had everything planned out; I was going to tap you on the shoulder once I spotted you, you would turn around after letting out a small scream cause I scared you, you would get all huffy, but then you would cry and disregard the fact I scared you cause, well, It’s me. I’m pretty damn great.” Esme poked his side playfully, saying, “yeah, you’re pretty okay.” But he was right. He was pretty damn great; He knew it, she knew it. It was hard not to know it when they grew up so co-dependent on one another. He was like an extra appendage she’d lived without for too long.

Damn it, she felt a tear drop down her cheek.

Jasper had arrived fairly early considering all things. He’d already had most of his stuff unpacked and moved in before his roomie Jared seemed to get a chance to do his. He was kind of bummed he’d missed out on seeing him. They’d got along pretty okay at orientation, but he figured he’s have enough chances of seeing the guy considering he lived with him now.

It really didn’t even seem like Jasper had been in the place unless you looked closely enough. He didn’t have a lot of material possessions other then clothes and other necessities. The only things that showed Jasper truly lived there would be his books and the occasional photograph he’d set up; one of his mother, one of his adoptive parents, and one with the old gang, Esme, Eva, Ben, and Calla. Everyone was smiling and laughing the three different photographs. He hadn’t been present in any of them, considering he didn’t like his picture taken , but he gained more from looking at the ones he loved within the photographs then being it with them. They were the one’s who were most important.

After changing into new clothes, which simply consisted of a white tee-shirt and dark jeans, topped with his self entitled ‘lucky leather jacket’, Jasper sat on the edge of his bed contemplating what to do. He knew Esme was probably just getting to the school now after her long flight back from Spain, and he wanted to give her time to unpack and take care of things before he bombarded her. Then again, he could just show up anyways without texting her and carry out the whole surprise tactic he wanted to throw on her at the orientation, but it wouldn’t be the same.

He was pretty disappointed he never got to surprise her after all, but who knew if it would be as good as a thing in her mind for him to be there as it was for him to have her there. The reason he had transferred to this boarding school was solely to be around Esme. Ever since she abruptly left after getting released from the hospital, Jasper had been completely thrown off his everyday life. He had become so attached to her, more so than he already was in past years. They saw each other in their weakest moments and dealt with shit no childhood friends should have to deal with. When she left, it pretty much threw all his counselling and stuff away; He was in a bad place again. It was him who finally suggested he left the suburban town in New York to be with her again and after a lot of convincing, his adoptive parents let him go. There was no one who understood the trauma, the pills, the pain, but her.. He was just glad she didn’t remember every little detail like he had.

Getting up from the bed, he decided to wander around the campus for awhile, trying to maneuver and find his way. It didn’t last too long, however. He was already pretty bored and itching to see his friend, so finally he shot her a text saying “ “Let’s meet by the fountains. I think I can manage to find those at least. Want to grab food? - Jasper”  Barley even thirty seconds passed before he got a reply back.

Yeah, of course! Be down there in a minute!

So with a smile, Jasper walked off to go meet his friend.

It didn’t take too long for him to get in the vicinity of the water fountains he’d intended for their meeting place, but before he could get into it’s immediate proximity, a small girl with tumbling locks of brunette hair ran right into him. Looking down, he was startled at first, but relief and happiness washed over him as he looked at the familiar face. Shooting her a lazy grin as he caught her from falling down, he teased, “I know most girls fall head over heels for me, but never this literally.” She tried her best to give some sort of sour face, but he knew it wouldn’t last long. He had barley braced himself enough as she launched herself into his arms in a massive hug. Picking her up, he squeezed her back hard enough that was was afraid he was going do some serious damage.

Come on! That’s the first thing you say to me in months?” she exclaimed as he set her down gently, and he gave a scoffed noised pretending to be hurt. He sort of hated himself a little bit for the comment he said to her. Where he should have said something sweet and kind like he had originally intended to, there he went again, teasing her.

Well, I was planning on a whole surprise, remember? I had everything planned out; I was going to tap you on the shoulder once I spotted you, you would turn around after letting out a small scream cause I scared you, you would get all huffy, but then you would cry and disregard the fact I scared you cause, well, It’s me. I’m pretty damn great,” he commented, trying to keep with the same schtick he’d been going with. He saw a glimmer in her eyes that was all too familiar. Wow, she really was about to cry. He himself felt something in his throat like something had been caught in it, but he’d never admit that, even to her. Smiling widely at her comment, he went to go say something more before the chattering of the people a bit away from them caught his attention. He managed to make out the figure of one familiar face, Jared.

Hey, Jared, is that you man?” Jasper called out, before looking back down at Esme and quickly wiping away the one tear that had escaped her with his thumb. He couldn’t help but feel a little happy to see she had missed him like he had her. She seemed to gather herself, and he knew no more tears would come. Grabbing her wrist, he quickly dragged her behind him over to the group, explaining to Esme, “I think that’s my roommate over there, c’mon.

Mel grunted, pushing her messy hair out of her face as she continued to drag her million-pound suitcase through campus.

"Take the later flight he says," the brunette grumbled to herself, fixing the strap of one of her duffels bag for the fourth time in fifteen minutes. "Didn't think the pilot would have an allergic reaction to his copilot's lunch, did he?" She stopped a moment to give her poor arms a break, mentally cursing herself for listening to her father, and looked around at the school grounds. Most people seemed to have already moved in and were now leaving their dorms to find friends or food. Mel sighed in annoyance at her lateness and continued her trek to her dorm. She was stopped by several people on her journey -a few from her track team, a professor from the previous year, a couple of class friends, another Portuguese student, a freshman looking for directions- before finally stopping at her building with a relieved huff.

Getting her bags to her room was not as hard as anticipated. By the time Mel was at her door, room 202, she was winded, but not completely spent. Looking at the door, Mel saw a note stuck to it reading, 'Going to meet a friend by the fountains to get dinner. Come join us if you’re free!' She grinned to herself, knowing it was from Esme. After a long break, Mel was excited to see her friend and didn't want to waste time unpacking all of her things -knowing her habits, she probably wouldn't be fully unpacked for weeks to come anyway. Upon opening the door to their room, Mel smiled to herself seeing that Esme had clearly felt the same. Although she wouldn't go looking in any of Esme's personal things, Mel could tell from the odd bra strap, pant cuff, and sweater sleeve hanging out of Esme's dresser that the girl had probably thrown her clothes in there and rushed out.

Knowing that she was already later in moving in than most people, Mel took little time unpacking a few essential toiletries, picking out a new outfit, fixing her makeup a bit, and hurrying out the door. She was nearly to the fountains when she spotted a group of people in which she recognized a couple of girls. She was about to stop to to say hi but noticed that they seemed to be in a conversation with a boy and girl that she had never seen. Not wanting to get into a conversation and miss seeing Esme, Mel decided not to go over to them. However, she made a mental note of the boy's handsomeness, and continued walking with the intention of introducing herself later if she saw him again.

When she finally came to the fountains, it took little time for Mel to find Esme. The stylish "New York" vibe that Esme gave off always made Mel feel slightly like a slob, but she'd gotten used to it and found that Esme was a valuable friend to have when it came to style. Talking to Esme was Jasper, Esme's good friend. Although Mel had never actually met Jasper face-to-face, she had seen pictures of him and had spoken with him on the phone several times when she was in the room with Esme. He was seemed like a fun kid, and Mel was surprised to see him here, not knowing that he would be here this semester. Esme must have forgotten to mention that.

In any case, Mel grinned slyly to herself as she came around behind Esme. She was about to surprise the girl when Jasper suddenly grabbed her wrist and began to pull her away. Surprised, Mel halted for a moment before jogging to catch up. They were still walking, Esme behind Jasper when Mel stood on her toes and quickly wrapped Esme in a bear hug from behind, chuckling happily before releasing the girl and spinning Esme to face her and give her a proper hug. Pulling away from the hug, Mel held Esme's shoulder's for a bit longer and smiled. "Olá, bonita. It's so good to see you. "
Mel laughed happily again and looked over Esme appraisingly. "Você é bonita," she said happily, assuring Esme that she was, in deed, beautiful.

Happy with finally seeing Esme, Mel turned to where Jasper had stopped to talk to someone and noticed that that someone was the boy that she had seen with the girls she knew from before. Mel turned her head to look at Esme and raised an eyebrow as if to say 'who's that?'.

Almost instantaneously the answer to his question came from the lips of the person he was looking for, “Hey, Jared, is that you man?” Jared turned around towards the area the voice came from and spotted Jasper. The male gave a small wave and noticed he was dragging a gorgeous brunette along behind him. Apparently the two of them were pretty close from how willingly the female seemed to travel behind him. Must be Esme, he thought to himself. Jasper told him about how he wanted to surprise Esme when he met Jasper at the orientation. He thought that was pretty cool and wished he thought about that when he came here with Cady.

Once Jasper made it over to the small group, Cady seemed to immediately go silent as everyone seemed to be talking with each other. "Hey man! Good to see ya," he stated with his Southern accent. He gave him a bro-hug and glanced over to the petite blonde that stood beside him. "This is Cady, my best friend," he introduced with a soft smile. "And Cady, this is Jasper. I met him during orientation and he is my roommate." Cady gave a soft smile before folding her arms across her chest just as she always does when she is unsure about someone she had just met.

With everyone crowding around the small area Jared began feeling a bit claustrophobic so he stepped to the side a bit a little more out of the crowd so he didn't feel so closed in. "Did you guys have any plans for lunch? Cady and I were thinking about going out somewhere to eat if you and Esme wanted to tag along," he requested and hoped that Jasper and his friend would be interested in joining them. It would be nice to get to know Esme and hang out with Jasper a bit. It would also give him a chance to get to know his roommate a bit more without immediately jumping into things and figure out the way he thinks of things, etc. just by living with him. It would relieve many different arguments in the future.
