"Charmeleon, get back here!" Sariah called out towards her pokémon. Charmeleon merely grinned towards his trainer, yawned and covered his mouth before removing his hand and allowing it to dangle from the tree. Sariah fumed as she tried to think of a way to get the charmeleon down without having to climb said tree. She didn't want to ruin her dress. It was her favorite one, not to mention the only dress she owned. They were on the outskirts of Mahogany town, just under a mile away when her charmeleon decided to take the alternate scenery route. He refused to climb out of the tree he had dubbed his napping place, and Sariah was becoming impatient.
"Charmeleon, if you don't come down, I'm not going to feed you," she threatened. He called her bluff, though, and continued to ignore the pleas of his trainer. Sighing in defeat, she reached into her bag, rummaging around for the only item that could get him down. "Alright, you win. If you come down, I'll give this to you," she spoke, pulling out a rage candy bar. It seemed to work, as Charmeleon was down in a second, snatching the item from his trainer and wolfing it down. Sariah sighed, shook her head, and motioned for him to follow.
An hour later found them inside the local pokéCenter of Mahogany town. She needed a rest, and the journey had caused some of her pokémon to become exhausted. She had been challenged just outside of the town's entrance, and barely managed to win that battle. Swablu had taken the most damage, and she'd managed to pull the victory off with her pidgeotto. They needed healing, and as she walked towards the front desk, she heard a familiar voice. Her eyes narrowed slightly at the sight in front of her. The annoying blonde hair, the sound of his voice. It was definitely him.
"Alex?" she called out hesitantly, hoping it was someone else. His hair color, after all, wasn't exactly uncommon. Unfortunately, it was him, and she inwardly groaned. "What are you doing here? I thought you were supposed to be in Cianwood City?" she questioned. The last time she'd heard of his exploits, he was supposed to be in Cianwood. "Don't tell me they kicked you out?" she half joked. He might have been her rival, but they were friends, once. Perhaps they still are, in their own little way, but Sariah wasn't too sure. After all, they had different goals, but he always seemed to bring out the competitive side to her.
