Introduction
For as long as can be remembered, the Kingdom of Elysia was perfect. Completely perfect. There was not a drop of poverty, nobody ever went hungry, and there was no suffering. Everyone was happy, and everyone lived in comfort. There were no wars, no fights, no battles. The only deaths were of old age. There was no sickness. Elysia was always a cheerful, peaceful country, and continues to be one.
Or does it?
Is Elysia really as perfect as it seems? Is it really such a utopian society?
Recently, a senator, a man by the name of Ignatius Bauer, appeared on the television, stating shocking news. Elysia was not a perfect country. It only seemed that way on the surface, it only seemed that way to those who actually had money. The truth? There was no poverty because anyone below a certain level was sold into slavery to work in making food for the country. There was no sickness because anyone who was sick was taken to a quarantine, where they were left alone to die. There were no wars because every other country was terrified of Elysia.
This news terrified the inhabitants of Elysia. Rumours began spreading, and fear began to rise up. However, this fear was suppressed quickly by the appearance of Elysia's president, a mysterious woman with an unknown name, on the television. She was quick to state that the senator was a foul man who was seeking to terrify the country and cause panic. She said that he had been deported to another country and was not allowed back into Elysia. Having complete trust in the president, everyone believed her, and the rumours died down. People in Elysia went back to their normal lives, and soon everything was back to perfection again.
A few months after everyone had calmed down, another occurrence happened that would assure life in Elysia would never be the same again.
A man appeared in a small village near the palace in the center of Eylsia. This man was battered and bruised, his body one massive sore. Built like a skeleton, his limbs were like birds' legs, clearly from lack of food. A layer of grime covered him, so thick that is practically hid all of his features from view. However, even covered in wounds and dirt, it was clear who this man was.
It was the senator, Ignatius Bauer, who had spoken out against the country. The very man who supposedly had left Elysia many months ago. With him came a small group of five or six people, all in a similar state to him. The villagers, frightened but curious, listened to his tale with great enthusiasm.
After making his announcement on television, members of the military came to his quarters and dragged him away. He was sent to the slave quarters with little more than the clothes on his back; in fact, he didn't even have those, since they were taken and he was given old, tattered clothes instead.
For the next couple months, he was given the grueling tasks that nobody else wanted to do. If he wasn't able to complete the tasks in time, or didn't do them perfectly, the guards were there to beat and abuse him. His strength and will to live began to quickly fade away, and he knew that if he were to make this atrocity be known to the people of Elysia, he would have to do so quickly.
After a couple weeks of planning. he and a few of the other slaves attempted to escape. They managed to do so, and have been on the run ever since, stopping in villages to tell of the cruelty hidden deep underneath Elysia's perfect mask.
The villagers were shocked at this cruelty the government had been concealing. They gave Ignatius a home and food, however, he was too exhausted, and died the next morning. This was the final trigger necessary. The villagers gathered together, and began to make plans for revolution. Riders went out, spreading the word to the other villages in Elysia.
Revolutionaries began to rise up, and people began to gather arms, training how to fight. Nobody knew the skills necessary for fighting, due to the long period of peace that Elysia supposedly faced, but they did their best to teach themselves how to fight. Their techniques are sloppy at best, but are slowly beginning to get better and better.
You are a member of the revolution; a citizen who has decided to fight against Elysia's dark secrets. A member of the new army created, you have to try to overthrow the government. Many obstacles stand in your way - acquiring weapons, training to fight, and, most importantly, the royal army. This is the governments army, made up of well trained warriors who spend their lives specialising in combat. The only reason why their army is not impossible to defeat is because the revolutionaries outnumber them seven to one. Even then, it will most certainly be a difficult battle to win.
The new army is currently based on the outskirts of the city of Namon, a small city about a hundred miles away from the palace. The army is quickly growing, and new members are joining every day. The commander, a man by the name of Faizel Hussain, runs a tight ship so to speak, and does not allow any lollygagging. The members of the army spend almost all of their time training, recruiting members, or gathering supplies, while the higher ups make battle plans and discuss strategy.
