Origin/Background: Drake Freya was horrified at the events that took place in New York City on September 11th, thus he decided it was time for him to follow in the footsteps of his Grandfather who fought for country in WWII, and join the United States Army. During his time in Afghanistan, Private Drake Freya displayed feats of incredible bravery and tactical command in routing out the Taliban Forces that he was promoted very quickly to the rank of Corporal
Military Service Drake continued his service in Afghanistan well until late January 2003. By that time he had accrued more distinguishing awards that included an Army Distinguished Service Cross, A Silver Star, Soldier's Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, and the Congressional Medal of Honor .Such esteems and accomplishments went noticed, and he would be debriefed of his assignment in Afghanistan to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Drake soon would be granted his position in a new platoon that was being marshaled to prepare for Operation Iraqi Freedom. In that operation, Drake saw the worst horrors of war that his career had allowed thus far. Still, his dedication to his country was great, and he led his men bravely. Unfortunately, on an assignment to find and capture an Iraqi General, Drake had been seriously wounded after being caught in the radius of an enemy grenade explosion after throwing it away from his men. Left to an inch of his life, it was only through his sheer power of will that he held to his life long enough to be extracted to the hospital. Months later after a full recovery, Drake was debriefed, honored and medaled once more, before almost being honorably discharged.
However, Drake felt a huge emptiness inside of him at the mention of his service coming to an end. After pleading with his generals, it was decided that he would not return to action in either Afghanistan or Iraq because of his high value and talents, but instead he would be assigned to lead a unit comprised of 50 elite commandoes to monitor and defend a series of villages in the warring Darfur Africa.
Darfur, Africa The campaign in Darfur was nothing short of brutal, and merciless. Drake alongside the men and women who served underneath him fought to defend helpless villages from both sides of the conflict. They were also assigned to lead nomadic peoples as well as displaced tribes to the protection of the various camps in the region. Their mission was almost exclusively secret, thus re-supply was relatively low. This factor proved devastating for Drake's Squadron. Within three months of their mission, the unit had already sustained 40% casualties, and the fighting had only started to escalate throughout early 2009. Drake's unit continued to fight bravely and rescue innocents even with their numbers devastatingly low.
While garrisoned in a village that had been the target of frequent attacks, Drake's unit engaged a series of soldiers from both sides of the conflict. The village came under a long 3 day siege, with the men and women serving under Drake fighting valiantly but to a losing side. While ordering a mass retreat and evacuation of the village, Drake witnessed one of his own about to be gunned down while wounded.
During his rescue attempt, Drake was able to prevent his soldier from being executed, but was unable to save himself from being caught in the proximity of a grenade explosion that wounded and left him unconscious. His unit alongside the many civilians of the village would all be killed with Drake left there to die amidst the carnage. It would be two days before his dying body is discovered by a wandering shaman. The Shaman, close to death himself cast his life's energy into Drake Freya killing himself in the process. Drake found himself completely changed and healed. Soon after he would finally be honorably discharged and move to New Congress.
Becoming CaucusWhile in New Congress, Drake found out that he had been given a special gift after fighting off four muggers that were much bigger than he. He had been able to match their strength which should have been impossible! He made for himself a suit that symbolized his devotion to this country and took to the streets of New Congress as Caucus. Shortly after he found and recruited two other special individuals Glory & The Vote to accompany him in his crusade. It wasn't long before the trio earned the trust, love, and respect of the state and as the media highlighted them, the world. They would be titled the Paradigm VIII.
