It was pretty obvious from Marina's first few days of kindergarten that she was a prodigy. She skipped two grades, and got a full ride to one of the most prestigious colleges around. After getting a doctorate in Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Biology, she began to work in a government laboratory. Marina was a fantastic scientist and, despite her problems communicating with others, eventually was promoted to a position of leadership. One day at work, a combat robot she was working on building exploded. She survived, but with severe burns. From the neck down, the skin was so badly damaged that she needed to become a cyborg in order to survive. Her face was burnt as well, but not enough to need to become robotic. A few years' worth of reparative plastic surgery has her face looking pretty much normal, except for a few reddish splotches here and there on her cheeks. Because of her extreme intellect and skills, she does not face as much discrimination as most other robots do, but she is still constantly ostracized. She is currently 29 and is cold and distant. She does not get along well with others, as she has no filter and she will say what she is thinking, no matter how rude it is. Contrary to what others may believe, she is not lonely. She has a few friends, and a vast choice of hobbies to entertain herself with. She is also very intelligent and can adapt quickly to events. She is not what one would consider a fashionista, seeing as she wears only a lab coat and nothing else ever. Marina likes
science, robotics, being alone, sweet things, reading, music, video games, comic books, anime, and cats. On the opposite end of the spectrum, authority, stupid people, rudeness, discrimination against robots, and hot weather piss her off to no end. A run-down one room apartment is what Marina calls home, seeing as that is the best type of housing one can procure in the neighborhood she is stuck in. She could afford an actual house, but "normal" people get very upset if a robot or cyborg lives anywhere near them, and she would rather live in the slums than have to deal with nosy neighbors.
