Adelaide jumped when Stephen spoke to her, but rolled over to face him, she covered her mouth holding in a little giggle, nodding at what he had said, but still snuggled close to Brooklyn. "Why can't I wake her up?" Adelaide whispered to Stephen after about five minutes of being quiet and growing impatient with the situation.
"Because she's tired, love." He replied, and sat up, swinging his legs off the bed, and gripping his cane a little bit. "I suppose it's alright to get her up now." He chuckled, watching the girl, before standing.
Brooklyn groaned rolling over opening her eyes slightly smiling when she saw Adelaide who was giggling. "Hello Sweat heart." Brooklyn blinked her eyes a few times. "What are you, doing in our bed?" Brooklyn asked looking at Stephen with raised eyebrows. Adelaide just giggled jumping onto her sister when she sat up, sitting in her lap resting her head on Brooklyn's chest.
He noticed the looks from Brooke and shrugged. "She came in here while we were asleep and squished inbetween us. I have no idea where your mother is." He chuckled lightly, before running a hand through his hair and laying on his side, deciding against his gett up.
Brooklyn carefully ran her fingers through her sisters tangled hair, it seemed she had woken up and come straight into their room as she was still dressed in her Pj's. "Why don't you go find Mom Addie?" Adelaide sighed crawling off her sisters lap moving towards Stephen, she stopped for a minute debating whether she would go around him or over him. She decided to go over him carefully crawling over him before slipping off the bed.
Brooklyn sighed once Adelaide disappeared she laid down beside Stephen wrapping an arm around his torso gently kissing his shoulder. she smiled gently.

"Good morning." he breathed as he felt her wrap around him, and smiled back towards her. "Did you sleep alright, at least?" he kissed her cheek, and chuckled at her sleepy look.
"As well as I could have." Brooklyn replied resting her head on his shoulder. "Did you sleep well last night?" Brooklyn asked softly, she knew he hadn't been sleeping all that well.
Stephen nodded at her question. "As long as you're here, I'll always be just fine." He smiled lovingly, and turned to kiss her lovingly on the lips. "You'll always be out of my league." He chuckled, and nuzzled his nose to her forehead.
Brooklyn laughed a little bit. "I'll always be in your league." Brooklyn replied gently nuzzling him kissing him one more time. Brooklyn brushed his hair away from his eyes. "You need a hair cut." She laughed kissing his cheek.
"Says the maiden with the hair that nearly touches her knees." He grinned, and kissed her lips before leaning back on the pillows. "How was last night?" he seemed a bit skeptical, and entwined their hands.
Brooklyn chuckled looking at him with a small smile tracing a circle on his chest. "Boring, and very, very long...Until I got back to you of course, then it was amazing." Brooklyn smiled, leaning down kissing him again placing her hand gently on his cheek.
Stephen smiled. "So, Mrs. O'Riley, when are we talking wedding?" He grinned, and kissed her back, then kissed at her neck as he awaited her answer.
Brooklyn smiled. "Soon, I promise." Brooklyn replied pressing gentle kiss to his lips. "But as of right now, I'm supposed to be in a meeting with Parliament and you know how impatient politicians are. She kissed him once more before getting up and changing into the first dress she saw, it didn't really matter, all of her dresses were high end and fancy. "I will be back soon...Hopefully, if I'm not back before two come rescue me."
Brooklyn walked quickly down the hall going over the itinerary Xavier had given her, he had been her Fathers right hand man, and now he was hers. "They have been growing impatient Your highness. You are very late." Brooklyn smiled at Xavier. "Xavier, a Queen in never late, everyone else is simply...early." A lesson her mother had taught her some time ago, seemed like the perfect time to use it.
Brooklyn sighed taping her finger on the desk she was sitting at, everyone was just arguing with each other. "Y-Your Majesty." Xavier trembled coming up to her, he was shaking. "Is something wrong?" Xavier hesitated, but shook his head no. "You are N-needed in the banquet hall."
Brooklyn excused herself, something was wrong she could feel it. The Palace was deadly quiet and everyone was gone, Brooklyn turned the corner pushing the doors to the Banquet hall open. "If it isn't the Queen of the hour." Brooklyn looked around, her whole family was sitting but the man who spoke to her was holding a gun to Stephen's head. "One wrong move girlie, and he's dead." Brooklyn stood up a little straighter. "Its Your Majesty. I am a Queen you will refer to me as such." The man burst out laughing at her boldness, but Brooklyn remained emotionless.
"Its not him you want." Brooklyn saw the crest on their jacket they were terrorists but their main goal is to destroy monarchies. "You want to destroy the Monarchy." Brooklyn had to think of something that would make her a better target. "I'm pregnant. she lied but it seemed to catch their attention. "You want the Monarchy to fall? Kill me, you will have killed the Queen and the heir. Jackson is to young to be put on the Throne in my place, so is Adelaide, My mothers and fathers rule was over the moment they placed the crown on my head, and Stephen and I aren't married yet, so he can't take the throne."
The man holding Stephen practically threw him to the ground marching over to Brooklyn putting the gun to her stomach, she drew in a sharp breath looking him right in the eyes. He pulled the trigger, shot her three times. "She will bleed out before they get her help." and then as if they were never there they were gone.

Stephen couldn't believe what he just saw. "No!" He started to cry as he saw her body just feet away from his. "Get help! Get help!" Her mother in years as she ran off to get someone. "Brooke.. No.." He groaned as he struggled to get to his knees. He slowly crawled to her. "You should have just let me take it, Brooke. How am I supposed to exist without you?" He sobbed over her body, his hand holding hers. "Brooke.. N-no.." The doctors came rushing in and takin her to surgery after patching her up some to keep blood.

The whole family had been waiting in the waiting room, the news of the now named terrorist attack had been spread all over the world and the biggest question was how they had got into the palace, and held the entire Royal family hostage for over an hour. The Doctor came out with a reassuring smile on her face. "She's in a lot of pain, but is expected to make a full recovery." The doctor wrote some things down looking back up. "Shes awake, you can all go and see her."
Brooklyn opened her eyes again hearing her family come into the room, her vision went in and out of focus for a few seconds. "Hey sweat heart..." Brooklyn smiled feeling Adelaide's hand slip into hers, she turned her head slightly feeling Stephen's in her other hand, she gently squeezed his hand. "I'm okay..." Brooklyn reassured them all but directed it more towards Stephen.
Brooklyn opened her eyes again hearing her family come into the room, her vision went in and out of focus for a few seconds. "Hey sweat heart..." Brooklyn smiled feeling Adelaide's hand slip into hers, she turned her head slightly feeling Stephen's in her other hand, she gently squeezed his hand. "I'm okay..." Brooklyn reassured them all but directed it more towards Stephen.
Stephen held his head down as he listened to Brooklyn. The voice he thought he'd never hear again, just hours ago. He sniffed as the family smiled and rejoiced in the miracle, as Stephen just sat there, white as a ghost. His legs ached from the unexpected usage earlier, and he felt numb all over.
Soon enough, the family, decided to give Stephen a few moments alone with Brooklyn. He didn't want to be alone with her. It felt like a dream, as if.. she wasn't there. "Why.." he started, hoarsely. "Why didn't you let them kill me instead?" He slowly looked to her. "You are needed so much more than I, Brooke. I love you, but, I was willing to make that sacrifice." He explained. "I almost lost you. What did you think I was going to do? Because it sure wouldn't be to live on. I would have died today, right along with you." He wiped tears away, and shook his head, still holding her hand.

"They came for me..." Brooklyn started taking a slow breath, her whole body ached. "If I hadn't given them...a straight up reason to shoot me, they would have killed everyone who was in that palace..." Brooklyn closed her eyes for a minute. "They would have saved you for last, and they wouldn't have just killed you, they would have tied me to a chair, and made me watch as they tortured you, and then once you were basically dead, then they would kill you. And they would have just left me tied up for a few hours so I could feel the pain of it." Brooklyn carefully moved over flinching as she did so, making room for Stephen to lay beside her.
"Come here." Brooklyn rested her head on his chest when he laid down beside her, she still hadn't let go of his hand. "I'm sorry..." Brooklyn muttered softly.
Stephen managed to move himself on the bed, and sighed as he cuddled with her. "Don't ever do that again." He would have said in a mean manner if she wasn't on a hospital bed. "Get some sleep." He kissed her head, and laid his head on top of hers.
Brooklyn had spent two months in a hospital bed and finally she was walking around, the nurse had come in and helped her out of the bed. "Are you feeling any pain?" Brooklyn nodded her head slightly. "Not to much though." The nurse smiled seeing Stephen coming down the hallway. "Look who's here." Brooklyn smiled seeing Stephen, he was walking better than she was these days. "Hey." Brooklyn smiled gently kissing him.
"Your walking better then me." she smiled gently hitting his shoulder. "I'm jealous."

"I'm only as good as my teacher." He smiled, he was feeling much more... needed nowadays, and even kept up with himself as well as a little extra with Brooklyn, and would dress nicely just for her, and his daily visits. "Good Morning, my dear Princess." He smiled, and his outfit was on the sharper side today. He even had a little manly stubble on his face. "What does she wish to do today?" He asked, walking by her side, and carefully gripping her side as he helped her up. He wore a sort of snug brace on one of his legs, just to make sure he'd be that much more steady.
Brooklyn smiled turning in his grip gently kissing him. "I really want out of this hospital." She said softly, they had talked about letting her go home, having a doctor coming to see her everyday, but they were still nervous about it as she was still in pain. She had suggested a walk, even though she was still unsure on her feet she knew Stephen wouldn't let her fall, she gripped his hand tightly as they made their way around the ICU, she didn't understand why she was still in intensive care, but she was. "How are everyone at home?" Brooklyn asked, she was worried about her family.
"You know the rules, love. Can't go, until there's no pain." He sighed, and raised his eyebrows at her next question. "Just peachy. Everything's just as it was before the accident, of course. Just.. making everything ready for when you come home." He smiled, and kissed her cheek as they continued to walk. "What's on today's menu? I hear it's good, unlike yesterday. " He laughed, and squeezed her hand.
"Lets just say, I'll be happy when I'm eating at home." Brooklyn replied with a small smile, she just really wanted to be home, she could see the guards from where they were now, they had them posted at the entrance to the ICU in case anyone came back to finish the job, or anyone else wanted to try something. Brooklyn let out a little sigh looking up at Stephen, she gave his hand another squeeze. "I hope Adelaide isn't flirting with you to much, your mine." Brooklyn joked, her little sister would usually just giggle around Stephen.
Stephen chuckled. "She's backed off now that we're official, but I still catch her staying every so often." He smiled, rubbing her shoulder, and then sighing. "So, what's on the menu for today?"
