Alexia stretched, her thin frame extending to its breaking point as her muscles and bones snapped and popped into place. The sun beat down on her face and arms, the hot, humid August air sticking to her pale white skin. The vibrant purple bruises on her wrists were well hidden by the bright blue sweat bands provided by the school. But the horrors of her home life were the last thing on her mind right now.

Currently, she was about to participate in one of the few activities that actually took her mind off of things like her uncle. Tennis. Aside from her schoolwork, tennis was something that Alex truly excelled at. She wasn't the top of the varsity team and captian for nothing. Nine times out of ten, she could beat the boy's team, too.

The ball bounced from her hand to the ground and then back up, the process repeating a few times. Alex's violet eyes glanced over at her current opponent, a freshman male that was new enough to not truly believe the stories about her. She knew he'd never seen her play before. He'd more than likely been warned before. Her eyes flickered over to the men's captian. He was snickering.

Or maybe he wasn't...

She smirked slightly. Very well, if her fellow captain wanted her to show him, she certainly would. She could feel the eyes of most of the high school's student body glued to her. Whenever there was a new greenie on the team, this had become a ritual. The school, while acknowledging that Alexia, her brother, and their friends were misfits, no one denied that she was the best tennis player the school had had in decades, and they all enjoied watching her cream the greenies.

The ball lanched into the air, and Alexia launched herself up to meet it, her racket macking contact easily. Her serve was well over 60 mph if she wasn't holding back. But considering what she was aiming for, she dropped the speed down considerably.

The connecting ball still probably hurt like hell, though.

The bright yellow tennis ball headed to the right the freshman, who at first looked over-confident and ready to return. Untill the ball turned unexpectedly, and connected directly with his face. Alex hadn't actually been aiming for his nose, but he'd flinched, right into it's path. Oh well.

The male tennis team roared with laughter as the greenie rolled on the ground holding his nose, blood oozing from his fingers. Alex sighed slightly. She scanned the rest of the team. "Next?"

Sam sat in the bleachers watching her friend Alex play tennis. Personally Sam hated what they did to those poor freshmen but it wasn't her job to judge. It was however her job to root for her friend. Alex was the best tennis player in the school and everyone knew it. Sam on the other hand was not that into sports, she was more into art edible or not. Her eyes flickered from the poor unaware freshman to the tennis ball that was now in the air awaiting the serving hit. Sam flinched when Alex hit the ball towards the guy and it hit him in the nose causing his nose to bleed.

While the rest of his team laughed at his misfortune Sam stood up and decided to leave the room. She wasn't going to watch the rest of the freshmen get their faces mangled by a tennis ball. With a sigh she headed to her locker, during this time there were usually no classes so Samantha would usually find this the perfect time to paint in the art room. She took her supplies out of her locker and headed towards the art room.

No one was usually there which was nice since she liked to paint alone but this time there were a few students there. They didn't acknowledge her and she didn't acknowledge them either. She found a secluded enough corner and set up her supplies. She plugged in her headphones to her phone and put them in her ear with her music playing she began to paint. Painting was something that Sam didn't really have to think about. In her opinion if you have to think about what to paint you're not an artist. As an artist you should feel your painting flow out of your fingers.

Just like she would at every other school sports game, she stood on the sidelines of the field, cheering on her school tennis team. It felt great to finally have all that she has been working towards her entire high school career. She was now at the top of the social ladder, was captain of the cheerleading squad, and even Damien Rodgers, all because Brittany Belmont fell victim of some serious accident, one that she still wasn't even completely sure of what the actual story is, though it would be a definite lie if she ever said she really cared.

Sera continued cheering on the team and making sure the rest of the cheer squad kept in sync with each other. If anyone were to make the squad look like they didn't know what they were doing, it would all be on her, that was definitely something she didn't want to deal with.

Though just like every year, Alexia Walker had to cause one of the freshman team mates on the other team be the laughing stock of the game. When the yellow ball collided with the boy's face the entire gym was filled with laughter. Sera, herself couldn't help herself not to laugh. She may not be all that interested in getting to know Alexia or even acknowledging her, but she had to admit, Alexia did have a bit of spunk to her that Sera found quite entertaining.

Sera couldn't wait until the game came to an end though. All day she's been looking forward to meeting up with Damien. They had a date tonight, one that she has been hoping for for a while now. She just wished Damien would tell her what this so called surprise is. He knows she hates surprises, so it better be worth all of the frustration he's causing her to go through because of this.

Prehaps the worst day of Casey's life was the day he lost his parents. It was like his whole world shattered, turned gray and burned up. The only constant in his life was his sister. He loved her with everything he had and beat himself up every day over the fact her couldn't protect her from their uncle. How many times he wanted to break the man's nose he didn't know. Unfortunately Casey was a pacifist, and hated seeing blood.

It seemed luck wasn't on Casey's side today. He squirmed as the freshman boy held his nose tightly, trying to stop the blood his sister had accidentally cause. He shook his head and stood, jogging over to his sister.

'Alex!' Upon reaching her he rested an arm against her shoulder. 'Go easy with the fresh meat next time kay? I'm sure the kid knows how much you rock at the game now.'

Valentin was on his way to the Library but purposely took a route that would take him past the tennis court. It was where the leader would usually be at this time, showing the guys a thing or two about playing tennis. He wondered if anyone would be injured this time. Despite the warnings each opponent was given before going up against Alex, they always seemed to doubt Alex. Probably because she was a girl, guys never like getting their asses handed to them by a girl or being told they can't beat one.

Nonetheless just as he reached the courts, a guy held his head back, attempting to stop his nose from bleeding. He wasn't sure whether he was amused or bored by the expected outcome. Valentin simply shook his head, holding back his laughter with his arms crossed. It was then that he noticed his good friend Casey, so that's where he went off too. After class he lost sight of him, not that it wasn't common for the group of misfits to go their separate ways throughout the day, everyone had their own business to attend to so he didn't care where everyone was, he was simply curious.

"Oh I don't know Casey, perhaps Alex should verse the guy one more time, just to make sure." Sarcasm at its finest. He grinned at the two as he approached them. "Why do you even bother playing Tennis any more Alex? Aren't you bored? No one is even a challenge any more. And even without the challenge, Tennis is boring to play in general." Blunt as usual, Valen wasn't afraid of sharing his opinions amongst the misfits, he felt comfortable around them, it was surprising how well they dealt with his sass sometimes. "Speaking of bored, I'm so tired of the lack of entertainment around here that I'm actually going to the Library." Not that he didn't like the Library, he actually liked it a lot but tried to hide it in case of being slapped with the nerdy stereotype. He already had to wear glasses, being a bookworm wouldn't help with that. Not until he invested in some eye contacts. His attention then turned to Casey. "Caaaaseeeey can we go do something fun please?" Valen whined, putting on an exaggerated act of begging for entertainment. "I need you to destroy the evil demon of dullness and boredom that grows hungry inside of me!" Very dramatic, it was always fun messing around with his friends, Casey seemed to understand his weird ways the most though. He grinned and let out a brief laugh, picturing how ridiculous he must have looked and sounded just now.

Alex rolled her eyes as her brother spoke, slight goosebumps rising on her skin where he had laid his hand. "I will not. The idiots need to learn. So he did." That, however, wasn't quite true. Tennis was one her few outlets where she forgot about the problems of home, but the minute her feet left the court, the memories, the nightmares, came flooding back. She let out a silent sigh as Valentin jogged over, her eyes narrowing slightly. He was one of the group, to be sure, but something about him was just, off To Alexia. She couldn't quite put her finger on the emotion she felt around him, seeing the way he hung on and around her brother.

Because jealousy was not an emotion she was used to, Alex couldn't name it. But the truth was that she was jealous of the bond her brother shared with someone else. She wasn't used to being put second, and she felt like that was what was happening here. She wasn't completely right, of course, but she wasn't completely wrong, either. It was true, that there was someone in her own life that could constitute being what the general public called a best friend, but she didn't think in bothered Casey the way she was bothered with this.

Even so, she still turned and shot a slight glare that most would cower under by now towards the other male. "Bored? Why would I be bored? This is my sport, and I rule the courts. Besides..." She grinned slightly, a smile that in no way reached her eyes. "There's always fresh meat to mince. There is no getting bored." She frowned slightly, when Valentin mentioned being bored, watching him tug on her twin's sleeve. She shrugged. "Whatever. I'll see you guys later, then. I'm hitting the showers." Without waiting for a response, she turned, heading towards the girl's locker room.

The hot water cascaded through her silvery-white hair, which became plastered to her face as she watched the water swirl endlessly down the drain. The look on her face was one that had never been seen by the general public of the school, and it was one of sheer sadness, depression, of being lost and unable to understand what to do or where to turn.

She knelt down, burying her face in her arms as she cried, hating herself for being so weak.

Damien munched on a protien bar, his eyes wandering as his fellow teammates ran through the drills and formations. He glanced over at the cheer leading squad, sighing slightly. There was no doubt in his mind that his new girlfriend, Sera was beautiful. But she was kind of...stupid. He shrugged to himself. He really couldn't be one to judge. The only reason he could stay on the football team himself was because he actually passed his classes. And he was the best on the team. Of that, there was no doubt. He loved football, it was his life. He had really little interest in things like dating, but the societal structure of the beast that was high school, demanded that the best date the best. They were the perfect ones, untouchable by the others, so it was only natural that they belong together.

It was then that she intruded on his thoughts. That dark reddish brown hair. They eyes. The way she smiled. He shook his head fiercely. If anyone, anyone figured out he was thinking, remembering her, then that was it. He'd be a social outcast, even lower than the scum they called misfits. He sighed.

That was when a third girl crept into his thoughts, because he could see her through the library window directly across the football field.

He blinked a few times, trying to hide the stare he'd been giving her. Why did she torment him like that? Samantha Burns was another misfit, she didn't belong in his world. So there was no way that he could ever have any sort of relationship with her at all. He knew that.

Then why did the thought of her torment him so?

Casey looked up as Valentin jogged up. Unable to stop the large grin the broke across his face he welcomed his friend with a pat on the back. 'Nah, I still think she should stop there. No need to injury anyone. Besides,' He sent a glance full of pride to his sister. 'Everyone knows my Alex is the best at tennis.'

Casey stepped away from his friend for a second, placing a quick kiss on his sisters forehead. Something was up with her at the moment, that much he could tell. But he also knew when to give her space. When she walked away he again returned his attention to his bored friend.

'Okay, okay. I'll walk with you to the library, we'll find something I'm sure. Wouldn't want my favorite glasses dweeb to die of boredom.' He took a few steps then turned and offered a hand. His eyes sparked teasingly and the grin on his face was absolutely cheeky. 'Do you need me to hold your hand Kyouja? I may be a year younger then you but I'm still taller.' Okay, taller by an inch but really, who's counting? 'I'll protect you from the evil boredom demon, don't worry dude.'

Finishing up her new painting she smiled and removed the earbuds from her ear. She hadn't noticed until now that the other students had left the room but she didn't really care. She stood up with her painting and took them to one of many drying racks in the corner of the room and laid it on one of the shelves. She hoped it would be dry by the time she was going home but it was highly doubtful. She sighed and packed up her supplies and as she did she glanced out the window noticing Damian Rodgers staring in her direction. He had been doing that lately and she found it kind of weird. He was at the top of the social ladder and yet she found him staring at the 'lowest of the low' according to Sera.

She shrugged it off and checked the time, normally Alex would have been finished beating down newbies and in the locker rooms. She decided to make her way there to check if her friend was there. When she got there, the locker room was pretty much empty. When she got to Alex's locker she knew she was there and decided to wait for her thinking she must have been in the shower.

Valen couldn't help but roll his eyes as Casey praised his sister. He didn't understand what that bond was like, siblings taking care of each other and supporting each other. Valen didn't have any siblings and was really pretty alone at home. Plus him and Alex always seemed to bicker from time to time, most of the time he was just teasing her for fun.

"See ya late Alex!" Valen called out to her quite coyly as she left, feeling a bit proud to have driven her away with his humorous ways, he thought it was funny anyway, especially when his friend played along. She did seem a bit off though, something seemed to be bothering her lately and he wanted to know what it was. For now though, he wouldn't think about it, he was going to have some fun, and when his friend was involved they always had fun.

He was used to the physical contact Casey seemed to give to people a lot, so the pat on the back didn't bother him at all, neither did the way he said goodbye to his sister. Valen chuckled as he was called a glasses dweeb only to then see Casey return the dramatic acting with his hand reached out to him. "Oi I can still kick your ass Blondie." He joked back in reply to the baby talk. He then stood up and lightly nudged Casey. Valen was glad the two could tease each other and understand that they were always joking. Some people couldn't take a joke and took what everyone said too seriously. Although they did get a few looks from time to time, not really caring of how weird they must look sometimes to the public. "Good, now let's go." He gave Casey a pat on the back as they would now make their way to the Library, a rather mischievous grin on his face.
