Princess Suzuna woke up to the bright morning sun....and the rush of servants coming into her room to get her to wake up and get ready for the day. "Princess Suzuna you bath is ready" A older servant said bowing her head slightly as she walked the young princess to the huge bathroom filled with steam, and the smell of holy water and cherry blossoms "Thank you" Suzuna said as the servants stripped her clothes and left her to enjoy her bath in peace Hmmm what to do today, torture the gaurds I guess she thought to herself before taking a step into the water and then the rest of her body, trying to think of something better to do to pass her time.

The gentle light of the rising sun spread across the land, slowly over taking the houses and shops in the quiet village. One by one the doors to shops began to open and fires began to burn in the ovens. A new day had started and with it new horrors and challenges would arise. Tuyet Fuyu tied up her long silken brown hair and sighed. Another day she would spend just barely getting by on what little wages she made at the tea house. She slipped on her sandals and secured her Katana to her waist, hiding it with her long Kimono. Each step she made towards the tea house brought on a chilling sense, she was terrified of what she would hear from the patrons. These days she often heard horror stories of young women being snatched away in the night. Some of these stories came from far away others from places within the village.

She pulled back the curtain to the tea shop and made her way to her boss. He was busy readying the tea and dumpling, ready to welcome the morning crowd. Tuyet sat down gracefully and awaited her orders. Today seemed quiet enough, perhaps she wouldn't be bothered all that much today.

Kai walked into town as the sun was rising over the horizon. He had heard that this town was having some problems with demons and that had drawn his attention. He did not place a whole lot of stock in the tales of kidnapped women, it was probably bandits, but he would not turn down the chance for some employment. He knew that his settlement had a princess and if he was lucky maybe she would take in this wandering, and master less samari. As he walked the streets he noticed some of the people staring at his armored body. Looking around he spies a tea house and decides to stop in and get the most recent stories. Inside he knows that he will draw attention, but it is worth it if he can learn anything about the situation. As he enters he notices an empty seat near a corner that will allow him to hear all that goes on in the room. He moves over to it and sits down to list.

As Kanagaki enters the village a slight breeze blows past rustling the leaves on the trees and moving the ones on the ground the day is early and people should be just rising and the sounds of the town correspond mostly silence with a faint sound of human activity. He sees the town as being quite peaceful and maybe a place to settle down but he knows he won’t be able to do that until he’s at least found out who his parents were and to be honest he would probably get board staying in a village with nothing to do. While he stands there in the middle of the road with his head in the clouds he seems oblivious to his surroundings especially the horse and carriage heading straight towards him in fact he’s so oblivious to it he only notices it as the corner of the carriage slams into his side making him spin, stager then fall on his back. As he sits him self up he sees that the carriage hadn’t even stop to see if he was alright and just kept on going it seemed to be in quite the hurry and looked like it was heading in the direction of a palace which seemed to towered over the other structures of the town even thought it was quite a distance away. Kanagaki thought of an excuse of an excuse for not going after the carriage while getting himself up off the ground but he didn’t have enough time to do so because a few early risers had seen the incident from balconies of buildings or windows feeling slightly embarrassed because the accident was entirely his fault he finished standing up brushed the dirt off himself and proceeded to walk away calmly. After walking a short distance he turned into a back alley and emerging from the alley found himself on a street with quite a few people on it mostly stall owners and people making there way to work but it was noisier than the previous areas of the village he had been in not that it bothered him he actually preferred it that way because as he walked he could listen out for rumours so as he walked he did just that and the rumour he heard the most was of a samurai in pitch black armour who had just entered the town today that part of the rumour was always the same but other parts weren’t such as one rumour said he was eight foot tall and carried a sword the size of a man another said he was a legendary samurai who had slain a dragon. Not knowing which if any of these rumours were true he thought it best that if he meets the man in question he should probably stay out his way because if some of these rumours are true it would be quite a fearsome fight probably resulting in me being the loser or the dead one. Kanagaki felt a shiver run down his spine from imagining himself being killed by a huge man with a massive sword or being slain by the legendary dragon slayer. Then snapping him self out of his day dream he realised that the rumours might be wrong he may be just some kid in armour trying to make a name for himself or the rumours might be fabricated altogether Kanagaki laughed to himself and decided he would get some tea and what luck there was a tea shop right at the end of the street. So Kanagaki started to walk down the street towards the tea shop he smiled as he thought about the black armoured samurai and the carriage that knocked him down and said in his head who cares about the carriage it probably didn’t stop because it had something important to do and this black samurai guy ill probably never meet him. Kanagaki’s smile became bigger as he neared the tea shop and smelled the wonderful aromas coming from it, he wondered why he was being so nervous before, he chuckled and thought what could possibly happen to me in a tea shop any way.

Princess Suzuna walked out of the place wearing her white silk kimono, her once lovely filled lands now looked like a ghost town "Guards can you do me a favor" She said looking at two of them that seem to be her favorite ones because they hated her pranks the most "Go get me my horse I want to walk around" She said, the guards rolled their eyes and went off to fetch her horse. When they came back she petted the black and white horse with love and care before telling her to kneel for her to get on, The horse did as told and the Princess climbed on to her back "Okay Moon, Run over the royal gates" Suzuna whispered as the horse ran in the directions of the shortest parts of the gates "Good girl " She cheered as they found a part, they could jump over easily "See you guys later I'm going to roam around again" Suzuna finished riding off into the deserted town.

Tuyet scrambled through the different tables, trying to serve every customer in an orderly fashion. She hated he cat calls and the harassment she got from impatient or lecherous men. She was the only waitress in the small tea shop, remarkably the most popular despite the terrible tea. They were famous for their sweet dumplings.

"So much for a slow day," Tuyet sighed, running back to the kitchen, nearly tripping over her sandals.

"FUYU!" Her manager called, looking over the small window from the kitchen to the main room, "What is taking you so long!"

Tuyet ran faster and picked up the latest order. A few men were standing at the door, waiting for Tuyet to seat them. She quickly served the waiting customer before bowing and running to the other men. She bowed deeply, her long hair falling to the ground. "I'm sorry for taking to long. welcome to Moki's tea house... famous for our sweet dumplings!"

The three men laughed, poking fun at the small girl.

"She's a cutie, isn't she." the ugliest of the men stated, grabbing her face.

"Please sir," she stuttered, backing away, "Let me seat you."

"Okay cutie, and you can get my friends and I some tea... no dumplings."

"yes sir." she mutttered, leading them to a small table. They all took their seats and she ran off to place their order.

"WAITRESS!" a young man called.

Tuyet spun around and looked at the man, not much older than her. He sat in full black armor looking kind of impatient. Tuyet's first instinct was not to trust him, his handsome features and black armour made him suspect to her. She walked shyly over, while her mind reeled to remember if she had seated him.

"How can I help you?" she whispered, not making eye contact, while in the mean time watching his body language through her peripherals. she stood quietly. awaiting the man's order. while in the background yet another man had entered the tea shop.

Princess got tired of running around the empty place, and plus she was starting to get hungry. Suzuna got of her horse and walked over to a small tea shop "This seems like a good place, Moon go back to the palace" She whispered to her horse, and it ran off. Suzuna, knowing most people if she walked in here might get on her, for not taking care of the demon problem, thought about it for the moment before telling herself who really cares, and walked in. Her hair trailed behind her gracefully, as she looked around for someone to seat her.

Kanagaki walked through the doors of the tea house smelling the fine aromas of tea and dumplings. He looked around for some one to seat him but the only waitress he could see was staring at a man that he couldn’t quite see because of his black cloths or whatever he was wearing made him blend into the shadows of the room he waited for a second and while he waited he heard through the door way behind him some one dismounting a horse. Turning his attention back to the waitress he saw that she seemed to still be serving the man in the shadows so being impatient Kanagaki decided seat himself. He chose a table away from all the windows mainly because the ones next to the windows were already taken but Kanagaki didn’t mind sitting in the shadows he rather liked it there it was much cooler than sitting in the sun. While Kanagaki was drifting off into his thoughts he noticed an important looking girl walked in which seemed rather strange because she obviously was some kind of nobility but what would a noble be doing in a common tea house? Kanagaki thought.

Suzuna got tired of waiting and just sat herself down at a table, noticing that some of the guys attention was on her. She ignored it sat a small table by herself, Her pure white silk kimono opening slightly, when she crossed her arms I guess this isn't really going to be a peaceful little lunch for me Suzuna thought to herself, when one of the her guards came bursting into the tea shop "Princess Suzuna?!" He said walking over to the table, looking slightly angry, causing Suzuna to giggle to herself softly. "Yes, Kyou" She said in a graceful tone "You ran of from the palace walls" He said calming down "Yes, I know I did. Now do me a favor, and let me enjoy my time out of the palace walls" Suzuna said with a small smile still, but it still show annoyance. The guard let out a soft sigh and bowed, "Be careful, Princess Suzuna" He said walking out and heading back to the palace.

Kai smiled as the serving girl walked over to him. He had been growing impatient waiting for her. I felt some what guilty after a while when he figured out that she was the only serving girl there. He takes notice of how she avoids eye contact with him an is slightly confused. Pulling a few coins from his money bag he tells her he would like two orders of the shops dumplings. As he is doing this he notices two people enter the shop with his peripheral vision. One appears to be a big muscular man a few years older then himself. The other was a beautiful young woman who was probably a few years younger then himself. After the serving girl left to deal with his order he continues to watch the young lady. A man in a guard uniform approaches her and the two of them share a few words before the man leaves to go about his business. Deciding that this is best chance to find out what is going on Kai rises to his feet and approaches the young noble woman. Arriving at the lady's table he gives a short bow introducing himself, "My lady, I am Kai Lao a ronin may I sit down there are thing I would like to discuss?"

Tuyet scrambled to the kitchen to fill his order. She had already watched several guests leave and more arrive and seat themselves, at this rate her boss would cut her pay and she'd be back in the poor house.

"TUYET!" her boss yelled, bringing the girl back to the real world.

She grimaced and looked at him with pleading eyes. "I'm sorry sir, there are just so many customers today."

"give me the order, and then get back there, seat whoever hasn't been seated and come back here for the order." Tuyet nodded and ran to the door and lead a few groups to tables before running back the kitchen. Her boss stuffed the plate of dumplings in her hands and pushed her back out on the floor. She looked around for the person who ordered them and noticed he was no longer in his seat. She grew worried before noticing that he had taken a seat with a noble looking woman, the princess. Tuyet gulped and walked calmly over to them. She placed the dumplings before the man and bowed.

"I'm sorry for the wait." She came out of her bow and looked at the woman who had seated herself, "And what would you like, princess."

"Oh my, sorry about that, umm I would like some tea and dumplings I guess" The princess said with a warm smile at thie girl, She turned toward the man that sat in front of her and bowed her head slightly to the side "Yes what do you need to discuss with me, sir?" She said moving her hair out of her face, but still watching him, "Is it about the Demons going around here?" She asked placing both of her legs on the ground. For some reason, she always had her smile on even if it was going to be bad news like it was just her mask.

Kanagaki sat silently at his table for a while just relaxing then the waitress hurriedly ran past him. Raising his hand slightly he called to here but she didn’t respond or even notice him and just carried on into the kitchen. Instead of getting annoyed he felt a little sorry for her because she seemed to be the only waitress in the whole establishment and it seemed rather busy. Dropping his hand back to the table he started to relax again then out the corner of his eye noticed that the man in the shadows was moving and as he emerged from the shadows Kanagaki realised that his black clothes was actually a black suit of armour. Becoming worried Kanagaki turned away and acted as if he hadn’t noticed him. Getting rather worried now Kanagaki thought about all the rumours he heard and realised that not many of them actually were any were near accurate such as the rumour that the samurai was eight foot tall with a sword the size of a man Kanagaki turned round to look at the samurai again and saw that he defiantly wasn’t eight foot and his sword was a normal sized samurai sword and not the size of a man. Kanagaki slumped slightly in his chair feeling relieved that he wouldn’t have to avoid a legendary samurai or a dragon slayer. But then he remembered that he had to be cautious because you can’t judge a book by its cover the man could still be a very powerful samurai and maybe even a bounty hunter out for Kanagaki’s head. Kanagaki then turned back to the samurai who had now sat down at the noble girls table which gave him a little relief because if he was after Kanagaki he would have no reason to talk to a noble or any one for that matter. Kanagaki still being cautious turned away from the samurai and noble and started to listen to there conversation inconspicuously.

Suzuna waited for her order, when again the same guard came running through the doors "Princess quickly we need your help" He shouted causing everyone to stir around slightly. Princess Suzuna stood up leaving more then the amount then she was suppose to leave for the waitress before running back out to see some demons "Dammit" She cursed under her breath as a ugly demon was destroying her small village "Kyou give me your horse, I don't have time to wait for , Moon, to get here, and I need your sword too" She commanded without even looking at him. He nodded his head respectfully and handed her the sword as she climbed on to the horse "Go and get me back up, now, I will try and hold him off" She said and started running off towards the demon.

Tuyet's head perked up as screams came bursting from the outside. She quickly set the tray of food down on the tables and ran out to see what the commotion was about. Near the end of the village she noticed that the princess had charged towards the demon. Inwardly she relaxed and the hand on the hilt of her sword beneath her kimono relaxed.


"About time she did something," Tuyet growled, "I wouldn't want to show everyone who I really am after just arriving."

She noticed that the princess would need no help with such a low level demon and pushed past the crowds back into the tea house. She noticed very few patrons were still around, most running off with food and not paying. She collapsed in a chair and sighed, she would be cut in wages for this.

Suzuna went over to the demon, swinging her sward "Your going to pay for messing with my lands like this, foul demon" Suzuna said, before cutting it on his arm "Wench how dare thee wound my flesh" The demon said baring his fangs at the princess "Yes I did wound you" She said cutting him again, but that was the last cut she got on him, before the demon got mad and knocked her off the horse, causing the horse to run away in fear. The demon smiled to himself before picking the young girl up by the throat "Heh so your the noble princess everyone has been talking about, your nothing compared to the lord"

Kai rises to his feet as the princess rushes out carrying the guards sword. He curses himself for not realizing that the young noblewoman was the princess, but then he had just arrived in town. He quickly leaves the shop himself and sees the altercation with the demon, as well as notes the princess rushing in that direction. Looking around he sees a back alley that will lead him around behind the demon. After several moments of running past fleeing villagers he arrives in a spot behind the demon. Before he can act he sees the princess leaps into battle and he is impressed as she managed to injure the monster. Unfortunately that first blow was the only one she got as the beast soon had her by the throat and was lifting her into the air. Wasting no time he charges silently from the shadows holding his blade in a manner that it would strike the beast where its heart should be.

Princess Suzuna looked at the demon for a minute and then smirk "If this lord of yours is such a great ruler, then why doesn't he declare war, against me himself, is he of coward?" Suzuna said when she saw the man that was in the tea house cut the demon directly in the heart. The demon turned around and looked at the man in anger and shock before turning to the princess and throwing her on the ground "My lord will kill you all for this" The demon said trying to run away, but collapsed on the ground. "Princess Suzuna" A guard yelled running over to her, with others close behind "You okay?" He said helping her up, Suzuna looked at him for a minute and then smiled "I'm fine" She said turning to look at the man that helped her "Do you mind coming back to the palace with me I want to discuss something with you there" Suzuna said when her horse came to her "Moon" Suzuna said getting on her back and taking the lead back to the palace "Dammit" She cursed under her breath when she felt a little blood trickle down her neck from where the demon held her tightly.

Kai watches as the demons blood runs down his blade. He is shocked that the thing is still capable of moving as it attempts to flee after delivering its warning. The beast only made it a few steps before falling to the ground dead. While the princess is distracted talking to her guards he walks over to the body of the monster and with a mighty swing cleaves the beast's head from its body. Kicking the severed head away from the body he proceeds to clean his blade. Looking at the body he says, "I made peace with death long ago, demon." Preoccupied with cleaning his blade he almost misses the princess's words to him. Sheathing his blade he looks the princess's way and says, "I would be honored, Highness." As they head in the direction of the palace Kai notices that the princess has started to bleed from small wounds on her neck. Pulling out some bandages he had been carrying Kai offers, "Princess, I am no doctor, but I bandages and they will at least stop the bleeding."

Suzuna smiled at him for a minute and then took the bandages. She wrapped the bandages around her neck as she made her way to the palace wall where everyone had been waiting for her "Princess are you okay?" A lady asked in a Priestess outfit "Yes, I'm fine" Suzuna said getting off of her horse "Princess we need to get that wound taken care of" The priestess said "Yeah it will heal soon though" Suzuna said with a small giggle "Can you take this man to a pare room, I want to discuss something with him after I'm done getting changed. Kai these are my servants they will help you with anything you need or want, so just ask" Suzuna said walking into the palace walls. When she got to her room she took a quick bath and got changed into a black kimono with gold dragons around it, and she walked back down.

Kanagaki was startled by a guard bursting into the tea shop. The guard ran to the noble girl and samurais table and in a frantic fashion said something Kanagaki couldn’t make out. Upon hearing this the noble girl ran out the shop quickly followed by the samurai. Curious Kanagaki walked to the door way to see what the commotion was about. Upon looking out of the door way he instantly saw the large demon in combat with the noble girl. Kanagaki thought he should intervene but then the noble girl landed quite a good hit on the demons arm which was quite impressive for a girl that size. But then the situation worsened and the demon grabbed the girl by the throat Kanagaki stepped out of the door way to help the noble girl but was then surprised to see the black armoured samurai come out of nowhere and land an impressive killing blow on the demon. Seeing that the fight was over Kanagaki re-entered the tea shop before the demon even hit the ground and proceeded to return to his table but upon doing so he noticed the waitress had occupied one of the seats of his table and seemed quite depressed and angry. Kanagaki sat down at the opposite side of the table to her and said “what’s the matter with you then” trying to be friendly.

Suzuna walked down to the throne room, and took her place on her mother's throne "You may bring, Kai in now" Suzuna said, he neck now fully healed. "Princess Suzuna" The priestess said walking in and sitting on the floor by her side "Is your neck healed?" She asked looking at the Princess of a minute "Yeah so I'm okay now" Suzuna said standing up from the chair and walking over to a mirror in the room, her kimono dragging gracefully behind her as she waited for the man to walk in.

Kai was guided to a spare room by the servants some of whom where giving him strange looks. One of the servants asked if he would like anything to which he responded that he would like a bucket of water. As the servant left to retrieve the water Kai began removing his armor. After removing his armor and placing it in the corner he retrieves a whetstone and unsheathes his sword. At that moment the man fetching the water returns and places in near Kai. Thanking the man Kai wets the whetstone and then proceeds to sharpen his sword. Absorbed in his work he does not notice the servant arrive to collect him. When the man speaks up Kai lifts his head and looks at the man. The man begins again, "The princess requests the honor of your presence," he says. Standing up Kai sheathes his sword and begins to follow the man down the hallway. He chooses to ignore the stares of people as they watch he white clad body march toward the throne room. As he enters only the strength of his trained discipline prevents his jaw from dropping at the sight of the princess. The black kimono with its gold dragons complemented the princess's natural beauty and made her a stunning sight to see. She was distracted looking in a mirror so Kai remained silent as he entered and waited for the princess to speak.

"Hello" Suzuna said turning around and looking at him, She told her servants to leave them in private,as she walked over to the man "Thank you, for saving my life, Sir" She said bowing down before him, causing her priestess to stand up in shock "Princess?!" She said walking over to her "Yes, Ai" Suzuna asked before standing up straight "Can you please leave, Ai?" Suzuna asked politely, Ai hesitated for a moment, but nodded her head, and left "Sir, you wanted to talk to me, before the demon attacked, what would you like to discuss?" She asked walking back over to her mother's throne, crossing her leg over the other.
