Personality: Katie is smart and stronge willed. She doesn't like being pushed around is hard working. She is loyal and faithful, a bit of an optimist at times, and is humble. Though she had a do kind of attitude she is in no way pushy or out of term. She can a be a little outrageous at times and will almost always go with her gut feeling. Regardless of her medical training, she always goes with what she feels is the best solution. And most of the time she's right. She is empathic and kind, and doesn't like to get into too much trouble. She's a bit silly at times, and loves to be personable and close with other people. She loves her solitude and her moments to study and read, but she is by no means a hermit. Katie is a people person, and generally gets along with most people.
Background: Katie grew up living with her mother and father in Washington. She was an only child and lived a fairly lush life. She got most everything she wanted but understood the need for work and the benefits of doing good. She was taught well and had perfect grades throughout school. Many thought she would go on to be a doctor, but Katie chose to go to nursing school because she knew that later in life she would be able to raise her family.
She lived a fairly easy life, up until she was a senior in high school. Very long story short, Katie was raped by her current boyfriend and ended up pregnant. It was all the scandal, seeing that she was the super star of the town. She never told anyone that she was actually raped, and this boyfriend of hers just skipped out and moved to the next town when his parents heard the news. Thankfully she was able to go through school without stopping, she graduated, then in the summer had her baby. Katie decided early on that she never wanted to know her daughter. An adoption was arranged and just as Katie had wished, she never met her baby girl. Katie never really got over the fact that she had a daughter somewhere out there in the country. But she knew that she was too young and too poor to raise a child and dow hat she wanted with her life.
She went through college without dating a single soul, and avoided all men who were drunk or looked aggressive. After all, Katie didn't want what happened to her in high school to happen again. So she graduated college, got a job as a nurse at the local hospital, and now is on her way to Brazil to assist some traveling doctors.
