Probably more of an impulsive decision than anything else from a combination of area of opportunity and timing with his own personal issues. It kind of grew into something else though.

The man has zero self esteem. He tries to come across as self assured and easy going, but he constantly is wondering what others are thinking about him and if they all see him for the weak boy he is inside.

fears.

his family.

His brothers are never up to any good, his parents take and take and treat him like shit - anyone else couldn’t give a shit about him. They bring out the worst in him, degrading him into nothing. Even when Micah believes he finally has himself together, a visit for dear old mom sets him right back to square one. They live back in Boston, but it wouldn’t be out of character for them to pop in out of the blue to soak up his money and benefits like a leech and then leave.

snakes.

Being the youngest out of five boys was outright torture growing up. Micah was taunted and bullied for a majority of his childhood, one of the earlier incidents being when his brothers locked him in a chest with a garden snake until his cries were loud enough to get his mothers attention away from the tv.

risks.

With a low self esteem, it’s difficult to make himself vulnerable to failure or rejection. He plays it safe, never really challenging himself or experiencing the thrill of stepping from the known into the unknown.

Personality

Laid-back and caring, Micah is a likable person to most standards. Not really one to make decisions, Micah most of the time sits on the sidelines and let other people figure the details out and just go with it. He has a light sense of humor, teasing others playfully or going on some tangent that is more or less him rambling about nothing. A people please, Micah enjoys to make others smile or laugh - going as far to make a full out of himself until he at least saw a smirk.

Although he takes his job very seriously, it’s difficult for him to play disciplinarian. Any time he catches a kid breaking the rules or has someone peer report, it always kills him a little inside. To be fair in his experience most kids seem to be just as upset that it was him who would have to discipline them. He just looks at them with a sense of disappointment similar to one of a father, shaking his head and sighing heavily. His job has given him a sense of belonging and responsibility he never experienced before, it became the first time he ever felt confident in himself.

A bit of an overgrown child, Micah finds joy in the little things like a good stand up feature on netflix and the thrill of a new video game. In spite of his whimsical ways he does have a serious side, self reflective and analytical of his surroundings. He always is noting things down into his journals, trying to document the situation from an unbiased view and then jotting his own reflective thoughts. He tries to be fair and kind to others, since no one was ever that way with him. He’s having a hard time fully embracing adulthood, but he tries to tell himself so long as at the end of the day he can say he’s all in all a good person and that in itself is satisfying enough.

History

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts to a couple of alcoholics wasn’t a fun existance. He had four older siblings, all two years apart. His parents existence revolved around working and drinking. Neither of them had loving friends or family, and all in all seemed to hate their life. They never paid attention to the kids or put any effort into raising them, leaving Micah to be the target of all his older brothers frustrations. In standardized testing Micah would wow teachers with his scores, the kid who would never do any projects and often “lose” homework. He would never tell the teachers what really would happen, that he would tell his parents he needed school supplies for a project and they’d scoff at him, or his sibling would put his homework under running water.

When Micah entered middle school, he was drafted into a charter school. It was a new beginning with new people who motivated and supported him. He was able to join clubs and teams with scholarship money the school had granted him. This was when he first joined a soccer team and finally felt a sense of belonging. Luckily throughout most of his teens he was able to bury himself in his studies and extra curricular activities, able to stay away from home. When he was in college he took a journalism class out of pure curiosity, which is where he met his mentor - Mrs. Pierce.

The woman was genius, and had grown partial to Micah. She was the one who told him he had talent with words, engaging him in her class and challenging him. He wanted to succeed and prove her right. No one ever believed in him before, and maybe he was reacting as a boy trying to please his mother - but Mrs. Pierce was like the mother he never had. After college he worked as a free lance writer for a while, but didn’t really have a steady job until Section 12. Now he’s been there much longer than he ever intended to be and grown more than he has in his 24 years beforehand.[/font]
