Personality

Kasai is a confident young man who sometimes lets his confidence tend towards overconfidence. He's a hot-headed youth who can be angered easily but cools off almost as quickly. His friends tend to find this quirk of his amusing and often rile him up simply to see him get angry and then laugh about it with him a few seconds later. However this sense of confidence combined with his angry nature makes for an extremely determined fighter who usually refuses to give up until he's unable to move or his opponent is. He is very outspoken and will speak his mind to just about anyone, including those who technically he shouldn't talk back to such as teachers.

History

Kasai never knew his real parents but that never really bothered him. He was raised by an aunt and an uncle who thought the world of him and were more than happy to raise him as their own. He had an enjoyable childhood without any major worries which leaves one to wonder where his temper came from. The cause became apparent when he turned ten, however.

He was walking a girl from his school that he was sweet on home when the two of them were set on by a group of older boys. The group pulled the two apart and beat Kasai repeatedly until he was barely able to focus let alone stand and then they dragged the pair of them out of sight behind a nearby building. Once there they began abusing the girl as well, leaving Kasai slumped on the ground. The girl screamed as various articles of clothing were torn off and the boys' rough hands began to grab at her.

No one noticed the gradual increase of the surrounding temperature, being as busy as they were terrorizing the girl. Suddenly the leader of the boys simply incinerated, his scream of pain cut short as he turned to ashe. The group of boys spun around to see Kasai, now wearing a red haori and fully robed in fire with wings of sheer heat spreading from his back and a halberd larger then the boy himself strapped to his back. But it wasn't his appearance that attracted their attention, it was his eyes. His eyes burned hotter then his body with a hot-white light of pure, uncontrolled rage which shone out from his face like beacons. He released an inhuman yell of rage that sounded more like the shriek of a humongous bird, snapping the boys out of their stupor and causing them to scramble to their feet and attempt to run but Kasai lashed out with tendrils of fire, each one a whip of heat that cracked as they connected with each fleeing boy. With each connection there was a brief scream and then nothing but a pile of ashes floating in the wind as the boys' very essence was burned.

Eventually there were no more boys and Kasai slowly settled back to the ground as the fire about his body subsided and his strange clothing returned to normal. Kasai slumped to his knees and then to his hands as he retched, the horror of what he had done catching up to him. Eventually he ran out of anything to heave up and simply fell over, attempting to catch his breath. The girl slowly gathered her clothing and backed away from Kasai, fear plain in her eyes. Once a far enough distance away the girl turned and sprinted for home, tears trailing from her eyes as she ran. Kasai slowly struggled to his feet and limped his way back home, exhausted beyond measure and still feeling the pains of his earlier beating.

The next day the paper was filled with reports about the missing boys and how everyone was looking for them but no one had any information. As the days went by the fluster died down and things returned to normal for everyone. Everyone except Kasai that is. He had to keep careful reigns on his powers now to prevent them from unleashing themselves once again and that turned everyday into a challenge. As Kasai aged he got better control over his powers and it no longer threatened to escape every time he got mad but he still had the habit of quickly defusing any anger he felt which caused no end of mirth to his friends.

So begins...

What is that infernal ringing and why in the world won't it SHUT UP! is Kasai's first thought as he's awoken by a strange screeching come from beside his bed. His bleary eyes open and he looks at the infernal object, eyes glaring daggers at the digital read out as the screeching continued.Who in world turned this thing on in the first place? I know...oh damn it of course they would. Kasai mentally connects the dots as his groggy, sleep filled head realizes that his aunt had probably turned the alarm on knowing that he would never do it himself since it was his first day back in school after a long, lazy summer. He reached over to hit the snooze button but as his hand reached for the usual slot it came upon an empty hole instead of the usual push button. He put his face in the pillow and groaned, nothing but a muffled noise escaping. And that would be uncle for you, constantly preempting my laziness. Curse them.

Kasai slowly climbed out of bed, the unending screeching getting even more annoying. Kasai sighed and started to get dressed, ignoring the ringing until he was finally fed up with it and simply walked over to his bedside table and yanked the clock out of the wall by the cord. The sudden silence was deafening but he could finally return to getting dressed in peace and head down to breakfast which he could smell all the way up in his room. Entering the kitchen he was greeted with the beautiful sight of pancakes and bacon sitting at his place on the table and his aunt at the sink washing dishes, her back to him. He walked up behind her and gave her a hug before sitting down at the table and digging into his breakfast.

That dream last night...why does it keep recurring? These masters and this war...it just doesn't seem real considering I haven't SEEN any evidence of it and only have my dreams to go on...bah whatever happens will happen. I'm not going to worry about it. But this "Master" of mine had better know not to piss me off. I don't think scorching is something they'd be desiring but fire is a temperamental element. Kasai chuckled at the thought. He was supposed to meet this guy today anyways so no matter what things would finally be sorted out and this stupid dream he'd been having since he was ten would finally be taken care of.

He finished up his meal and called goodbye to his aunt and uncle as he gathered his school things into his backpack and headed out the door, on to meet this "master" of his.

The streets were empty as they usually were by the time Kasai made his way through them. He was never on time for school and his teachers had stopped trying to correct it. They just came to expect him to show up about 5 minutes late and as long as he wasn't too far past that cut off they normally didn't care. Not like their punishment of detention ever actually bothered him. None of their "punishments" ever really did.

Kasai took his time, strolling down the sidewalk listening to the birds and insects broken only rarely by the sound of an oncoming car or another person's conversation. The newly awoken sun glanced off the buildings as it rose behind the skyline and Kasai looked enviously at it. To him the sun represented the purest form of fire and something he could only dream to match. Where his heat always seemed to destroy the sun's gave life without ever faltering. Its energy was dependable while Kasai's drained everything he had for a simple encounter.

As the warmth of the sun rippled across his body Kasai felt it reaching into his soul and was strangely uplifted. Before he had a chance to fully enjoy the experience he heard what sounded like an accident waiting to happen as someone yelled "Watch out" followed by rushed footsteps. Kasai looked across the street to see a girl inches away from running into a surprised boy walking around the far corner. Oh goodie. Those are my classmates for this term...lucky me. If that's any indication of how this semester is going to go I'm just not even gonna get my hopes up.

Kasai left the two fellow classmates at the corner where they barely avoided making a scene and continued on his way to school, already bored with the day. He tried to return to his earlier connection with the rising sun but his mind was suddenly filled with thoughts about his "master" once again. Why did this person get to control him? What made him deserving of Kasai's loyalty? Who got to make those kind of decisions?

Kasai didn't really care much about who this master person was supposed to be as long as they were useful in the upcoming fight. Dragging around a useless sack of meat just because they were his "Master" was not something he was looking forward to. The fighting bit, however, was something he had been looking forward too ever since he turned 10. Being able to expend his rage at a target that deserved to die was the only thing that kept his rage from overtaking him.

Kasai was so preoccupied with his thoughts that he didn't realize he was approaching the school until he tripped and almost fell, knocking him back out of his thoughts. He turned around, his anger at whatever object that had tripped him already showing but upon realizing that he had tripped over the feet of an attractive blonde girl leaning against the outside gate it evaporated and his tongue stumbled over itself trying to apologize. "Oh sorry...I didn't see...I was lost in...uh...sorry..." he manages to mumble and then continues on his way inside the gate, angry at himself for getting flustered simply by a pretty face. With his eyes locked on his feet again he made a beeline for his usual spot where he waited until his usual 5 minutes late time approached if he ever got to school early. Damn adults waking me up on time. Now I have to avoid teachers for as long as I can...ah well I'll set my own alarm next time...

He leaned up against his normal tree and slid down, sitting on the ground with one knee up and making a solid thump. He let out a sigh and a belch before he realized there was a girl not more than 5 feet away sitting on the nearby bench reading a book. He quickly looked away before she caught him looking and pretended to be searching for something in his backpack. Kasai mentally slapped himself. Get a hold of yourself. What the hells wrong with you? Since when have you been so bothered by other people?

Hotari looked up from her book, hearing the thump of mass against bark. She let a faint smile play on her lips as she watched the guy from whom the noise emanated. "Nice one." She mumbled, just loud enough for him to hear. Hibiki had paused in his song, startled by the noise and the shifting of his master. Hotari clucked softly, fingering the small bird's head feathers in reassurance. He fluffed himself up, then went back to his chirping.

She let the book descend slowly, so Hibiki wouldn't lose his footing, and watched the guy with a calm curiosity. It was the closest a person had ever gotten to her all day, and she just had a simple peek of interest. Funny how many people are bored already. Must just be the 'anticipation' if you can even call it that. Her eyes were trained on him as she thought quietly. A soft wind momentarily kicked up and swept through the school grounds, causing far away wind chimes to call, as well as her bracelet. Hibiki paused with this wind, fluffing up his feathers once more for warmth, and then flitted off. Hotari watched him flit away, then once again allowed her eyes to come back to him. Interesting that there's a faint tug at the back of my mind. I guess it only started when he got close. Though, it reminds me of those dreams, even though he doesn't look familiar at all. Her eyes fluttered in a momentary blink and a breath before she spoke again. "My name's Hotari, by any matter." Her voice was quiet, though it had a bored confidence. Psh, here's attempt one at that social life. She thought again to herself, waiting to see if he'd respond.

Kasai was startled by a soft voice coming from nearby and it took a good few seconds before he realized that the comment was directed at him. And here I was thinking I made a fool of myself already. Guess I didn't do too bad after all. he thinks to himself as his old self-confidence begins to return. He turns his head to look over at the girl and he realized that her eyes were...an almost similar color to his own. A sort of grey-blue but where his burned the blue of the hottest fire her's seemed to be the color of frozen water. His attention was caught by the ringing from her bracelet, a soft chime of sorts that reminded him of lazy summer days spent out behind his house where the only human made sound that reached him was the windchimes from their back porch.

Before he slipped fully into nostalgia he realized that he hadn't answered her question and was instead intently staring at her wrist. He returned his eyes to her face and gave a confident grin, "Kasai. Nice to meet you and might I say the pleasure is all mine. I have to ask though, was that a bird I saw perched on your book earlier? Because if so, that's rather impressive. Animals tend to...not like me too much." Kasai says with a small chuckle, leaving off the fact that they don't like him probably because they can sense the boiling anger underneath his calm exterior.

He looks at the girl and something about the way she sits there with her book reminds him of...something. Something at the back of his mind that he just can't recall and that will probably be bothering him the rest of the day. Even her chimes remind him of something but he simply can't place what it is. Its almost like a deja-vu experience but he can't tell where he had the first experience.

Hotari let her lips form into a faint smile once he finally realized that she had spoken to him. She tilted her head softly to the side as he scanned her bracelet. She was momentarily distracted by something behind her, then quickly turned back to face him. Hm, I might have chosen a better candidate for conversation than I might have ever thought. Surprising.... She grinned to herself, then returned full attention back to him as he spoke.

She nodded with that same faint smile, then gave a laugh as he finished his sentences. That sound of mirth had the resemblance of the wind squeezing through a small crevice within a tree, whistling through and chiming. She abruptly cut the laugh off though, red flushing delicately up her cheeks and just barely across the bridge of her nose in embarrassment. Hotari really didn't like to laugh around crowds of people, as it brought attention to herself in ways she didn't like. She just retained a simple smile, still feeling flustered about the laughing. She shook her head gently. "Yeah, he's my finch. Though, I guess you could just say he's taken a liking to me...." She pulled up her hand, resting a finger on her lip in mock thought, then dropped her arm, looking back at him.

Hotari gently shut her book, turning and setting it back in her messenger bag, turning back to him and resting her hands in her lap. "So I suppose that we'll be in the same class." She grinned reservedly at him, taking a few moments to watch the leaves shudder in the wind. Actually pretty pleased in myself that I stumbled upon Kasai. I guess we get along easily. For now anyway.

Hotari nodded in agreement, still looking in the direction of the trees. It was pretty soothing just to watch them flicker and dance in the wind. Much like flames. Just immobilized more. She tilted her head in amusement. "Not to mention there are few other schools anyway." She absently tugged her bracelet down, making it rotate on her wrist.

"It's exactly why I chose it. I don't particularly take to big crowds of people. I'm not at all a social butterfly. Besides, it's nice over here. It's quiet. Another point, I'm already doing great in school, so I never really try to bother getting to class in such a hurry. Not like I can't just look over something that I missed." She shrugged lightly, summing up her reasons.

Hotari then chuckled, taking a liking to this boy pretty quickly. "Yeah, it is pretty mysterious, huh? Though it's all hush hush and what not. Promise not to tell?" She asked in a mockingly girly voice, obviously playing around. She then smiled cheerfully, dropping her voice back to normal as she let out a content sigh. "Nice day at any rate."

"So what are you doing over here? I had the same expectations: that everyone would be bound to be having their chatty groups and scurrying about for their classes," Hotari shook her head with that smile again. "Though I should have known better. Someone had to be a bit different. That's a good thing too, by the way." She hastily amended, stretching her arms out a bit and shaking her hands for effect, a sheepish look on her features.

Kasai feigned shock at being called different and with a completely straight face he said, "Me? Different? How dare you!" he then lost his composure and almost fell over laughing. "Oh my if you only knew how different I was you might not think it was such a good thing." he said after he managed to regain control of himself. "That's partially why I'm over here...well actually that's mostly why I'm over here. I choose my little corner because most people I simply don't get along with. I have my small group of friends who, for the most part, I only see outside of school but beyond that I avoid people in general.

He then grinned mischievously "But if you're the braniac that you say you are I might be hanging around you more often. Especially around test times if you catch my drift. I have this bad habit of...well...pretty much ignoring my teachers. They never teach anything really worth learning anyways so what's the point of listening to them in the first place? Unfortunately that means my grades take a bit of a hit. Ok well...a lot of a hit but honestly I'm just here because the law requires me to attend. And the fact that my aunt and uncle would kill me if I didn't..." he added as an afterthought. "Its not like I don't understand the material. The parts that I actually bother to listen to I understand without really studying but I just...can't seem to be bothered to learn the rest." Kasai shrugged. "Who knows maybe this year will be different. New year, new teachers, and all that jazz.

Kasai leaned back against his tree and looked up at the gently swaying branches as they swept back and forth in the light breeze. He sometimes wished he could just let loose and fly with the wind but something told him a giant, flaming bird would catch some serious unwanted attention. Not to mention it was simply exhausting and drained him for days. He sighed as he let the thought go and returned his attention to the attractive girl he was supposed to be conversing with. "By the way, we're hanging out after school today. Just thought you'd like to know that ahead of time. Grabbing a dessert of your choice. Or something else if you'd prefer." he said with a good-natured laugh and a wink.

Hotari put her hands up in mock defeat, sticking her tongue out a bit at him. She then laughed with him, but tilted her head wonderingly as he stated his next bit. She chuckled once more, nodding in understanding. "Yeah, I gotcha. I don't have many friends. Well, really only two or three, but that's my choice anyway. Like I said: 'not a social butterfly in the least.'"

She rolled her eyes with amusement, and then shrugged lightly. "Pff, you underestimate me. Stick with me kid, we'll go places, you and I." She smiled at him, her tongue poking through her lips just a fraction to add extra effect to the words. "Seriously though, schoolwork is pretty simple for me. Especially considering I have so much time on my hands. Soo it shan't be a problem if you want any of the work done. And another thing, you live with your aunt and uncle? Sorry, I just find that amusing. I live with my uncle. He's never married, a wonder too, considering he has such 'great looks and charm' as he'd say." Hotari paused momentarily to catch her breath and grin. "But anyways, both my parents died, so old uncle here decided to move in with me. It makes me glad though. I get to stay here." She nodded her head resolutely, then gave a small stretch.

Hotari flashed him yet another grin, fiddling with a loose string on her clothing. "Yeah, if we ever make it through this day. I should give you a warning, though. I'm a sucker for ice-cream." She shrugged lightly. "Just as long as it isn't too much of a punch to your wallet. Thanks." She laid her head back against the bench. Yeesh, my mouth is going to hurt like crazy if I keep smiling so much. I'm just not used to it at all. And mission accomplished with the social step. "What do you normally do after school?" She asked lightly, not really wanting the conversation to end just yet. They still had a little while before they'd actually be forced inside.

Kasai chuckled. "Yeah I never knew my parents. Never really bothered to learn about them either honestly. They died well before I had any sort of memory. he said it nonchalantly, he really had never bothered learning all that much about his parents. His aunt and uncle had taken care of him more than well enough and he had never really thought he missed anything. "And I appreciate the offer but I don't want anyone doing work for me. I'd rather someone taught it to me in a way I could at least find interesting. But that's something for another day.

"And your uncle sounds like a swell guy. Or maybe I should say he seems to think he is. Maybe not as much of a ladies' man as he claims?" he said with a chuckle. "And don't worry about the money. I worked all summer so I got plenty stored up so I'm good to go." he thought for a moment, "And normally I either go work out or chill with my friends doing stupid stuff like jumping off bridges." he said as he laughed at one of his more recent excursions with his excitable friends. They had a bad habit of finding high locations stationed over water and seeing who could make the biggest splash. More often than not it turned into who had the biggest or most bruises by the end of the day and they forgot what their original objective was.

"What about you? No wait...lemme guess. You go out into the middle of the forest and sing to the animals, right? Random deer, bears, and monkeys show up out of no where right?" Kasai said with a grin on his face to show he was kidding.

Hotari nodded silently, agreeing with him in most aspects. "Yeah, it never really bothered me much either. I mean, they were both okay, but worked too much. Both traveled across the world doing a whole bunch of different things. Mom died of malaria, dad died in an earthquake." She shook her head and shrugged boredly. "Ch, I meant helping you retain it. But I wouldn't mind doing the actual work either." She flashed him a quick, good-natured smirk.

She chuckled quietly. "I guess. But I say he just doesn't put himself out there enough. He really is great though. He's like an older brother, the way he acts." Hotari distractedly poked at the bench, thinking about how her uncle actually acts. She had never really shared that before. She gave him a shy smile. "Well, that's good. I really don't want to be a burden to anyone. And jumping off bridges? Really?" She shook her head with a short laugh.

Hotari's eyes suddenly widened in mock shock. "How the bloody 'ell did you know!?" She put her hand to her mouth in a fake gasp, but then rolled her eyes with a cluck. "Nah, I usually just go out on our property and sit by one of the streams. I like to read and write a lot. Sounds pretty boring though, compared to you jumping off freaking bridges. Besides, monkeys freak me out." Her eyes narrowed in a squint and she shuddered, then turned her attention back from the momentary flashback. "I never really get bored though. There's always something to do. Like climbing mountains, swimming, etc. etc." Hotari gave a small shrug. Hm, now that I think about it, I may have only took a half pill this morning. Hotari mentally smacked herself in the forehead. Bloody peachy. She thought mockingly at herself. She let out a quiet sigh. I guess it isn't all that bad if I made a new companion.

"Ha. Monkeys freak you out? That's surprising considering you're an animal person. But everyone has their own fear I guess." he shrugged as if to say whatever. "And yes bridges. And cliffs. And various other things that are...sometimes not safe to jump off of." he chuckled remembering a time his friends used a moving vehicle to launch themselves off a ramp and into a lake. He tapped the side of his head with a finger and winked, "And I know because I'm psychic."

Kasai suddenly remembered he was supposed to be finding this master person, not talking to a pretty girl. He returned his eyes to the courtyard but saw no sign of anyone he remembered from his dreams. Damn it. Where in hell is this person? For that matter WHO is this person? They're sure not making it easy for me to find them. I don't even have a real good description of the bastard. Whoever set up this whole event has really really poor planning skills if you ask me... Kasai snapped his head back against the tree in frustration, hitting with a dull thud. "Bah!"

He suddenly realized his change in temperament might surprise his companion so he turned and gave a half-hearted grin. "Sorry. I'm supposed to be meeting someone somewhere around here today but I'm a bit hazy on the description so its making things a little...difficult to say the least. Its kind of like arriving in a new town where you're supposed to meet relatives you never met before so you don't even know who you're looking for so you're just hoping there's some big, tall, fat guy with a large sign waving in your direction when you get off the plane/train/whatever."

Even as he was explaining himself a nagging feeling that she already knew what he was talking about hit him. Bah who am I kidding. No way she knows about all this nonsense about souls and youkai and masters. Hell I barely know about this stuff.

Hotari let out a soft laugh, watching him with an amused smile. She tilted her head as he suddenly got serious, and then frown lightly. "You know, if you hadn't already explained that you jump off cliffs and such, I'd be worried you just hurt your head. But...." She chuckled quietly, listening to him intently. "Nah, no problem. We all have our quirks. Besides, I get what you're saying. And yeah, I have the same exact feeling. Though, it's strange you brought up my thoughts. Of course, I mean it like non-specifically, it just seems there's something off today and I should be going somewhere and meeting someone. But I suppose it's just that I'm a little off, what with it being the start of school again." She put her index finger to her lip thoughtfully. "I keep getting these weird dreams, and they're only getting more and more clear. It's kind of creepy, but, then again, I don't get weirded out too easily either."

Hotari took a moment to glance up, gazing around the grounds of the high school and watching the students milling about. She rested one leg over the other in a new sitting position, still thoughtfully looking around, her left leg kicking at the air a bit as she leaned against the bench with her hands. "It's strange though," She repeated. "I thought that I was the only one having these feelings. I felt really cancelled out in most aspects. Well, I guess I'm not alone then." Her head was still positioned to look away from him as she scanned the area, she then tilted her head up, watching as some birds flew by. She then shrugged, turning back to meet his gaze with her own. She was looking over him thoughtfully, not really realizing what she was doing. She did that more often then not, actually.

Kasai looked at her sharply. Dreams? Did she just say dreams? No way...no way she's having dreams like mine... How could this be possible? He knew there were others like him out there but he hadn't expected to just walk into another. Not possible. It was so impossible that Kasai refused to believe it and just assumed it was a different type of dream. But that bit about them getting clearer and clearer...no. Not possible.

He snapped out of his internal monologue and returned to the present as he saw Hotari looking him over. A bit strange but it wasn't the first time he'd been scrutinized just...the first time someone did it so openly. "Well I guess not. Everyone has interesting dreams once in a while. Just don't let them control ya." he said with a laugh. Like I'm letting my dreams control me...

He took one last glance around the courtyard and sighed, not seeing anyone that triggered his memory. He slowly got to his feet and dusted himself off before returning Hotari's gaze with one of his own. As their eyes locked he saw a searching in her eyes that he hadn't seen before. It was almost like the same searching feeling he had while looking for his master. He shrugged it off. "Anyways, shouldn't we be getting ready for class soon? Or should we play hookie today?" he said with a mischievous grin.

Hotari chuckled quietly, breaking the gaze and shaking her head with a small smile. "Once in awhile. If only..." She muttered. Hotari got them almost every night. She rubbed the back of her neck with a sheepish grin. "Yeah, I guess we should get going. One, my uncle will probably lock me outside if I play hookie on the first day of school, two, we should actually see how bad it is, and three, we can always book it later if we have to." She nodded quietly, a small smile playing at her lips as she thought of so many ways they could easily get out. "Then again, I also want to see if I can find this mystery person or not." She got up, grabbed her messenger back, and stretched.

"I guess." Was all she said, and she began to walk towards the buildings with her hands behind her head in a casual way. She quickly dropped them though, and then just made her way over. She glanced once more at the benches where the two were previously, and she just gave a smile and an unbelieving shake of her head. Interesting. She thought quietly to herself, her bracelet chiming once more as the wind kicked up.

I like the way this girl thinks... Kasai thought with a grin as he picked up his bag and followed after her. Almost as much as I like the way she looks, if not more so. This is one interesting girl that's for sure. He looked at the time and realized he was actually going to be early to class for once but he didn't care all that much. Let the teachers think he's turned over a new leaf with the new year and give them some false hope. It'll be fun to see their faces when I sneak out under their noses again.

Kasai flipped open a zippo lighter he'd gotten as his only heirloom from his father and watched as the flame danced in the wind before flipping it back closed again. His father was supposedly an avid smoker and he carried this lighter with him everywhere. It was the one thing of his personal effects that survived the house fire that claimed his parent's lives and his one memento to the past he never knew existed. He put it back in his pocket as he wondered why he held onto a thing that technically had no sentimental value for him. He shrugged the thoughts off and hurried to catch up to Hotari. "Say, for being a smart girl you're not playing very smart making friends with me, don't ya know. Especially if you're gonna start skipping school with me. Teachers might brand you with the same label I have: trouble maker." He said with a laugh.

Hotari rolled her eyes, and gave a dismissive wave of her hand, then chuckled quietly. "Eh, we all make mistakes, right?" She looked up at him with an all-too-innocent smile, then chuckled. "Really though, you shouldn't underestimate me. I have really high grades, won't matter much if we come up with some excuse." She slowed down just a bit, taking a more casual pace. It'd be easier to spot someone if she were going slower, but then again.... She chuckled quietly to herself. "You should also know I have ADHD. Just hyper to make it short, so I have to take meds to help me focus." She stuck out her tongue, rolling her eyes. "Guess who forgot to take their pills this morning?" She flashed him an embarrassed smile, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly.

Hotari continued to glance about herself as she spoke, just a bit more aware of the tugging in the back of her mind. "Sometimes I find it interesting how different people's personalities are. Sometimes." She repeated, just thinking out loud a bit.

Kasai shrugged. "Bah. ADHD is over diagnosed these days. People who only have a minor case get told they're an extreme rarity and should be put on expensive meds even if it wouldn't take anymore than a small dose to control it. Kasai let his frustration with doctors in general creep into his voice. He'd never been one to get sick very often, what with his immune system being surprisingly hardy, but the few times he had to go it was never a fun experience.

"Oh you got the sniffles? Lets see here...oh I'm sure you have bronchitis! But I can't give you the meds here so I'll just take my $100 consultation fee and refer you to another doctor who can help you... Kasai's mental recollection of the run around he'd gotten on THAT particular sickness (which turned out to be nothing but a simple case of allergies) made his color rise and heat began to emanate from his body. He shook himself back out of his memory and quickly calmed down, letting the heat dissipate, browning the nearby grass. Oops. The groundskeepers are not gonna be happy about that... he thought to himself as he returned his attention to Hotari.

"Besides, you seem pretty normal to me. If this is what you call a disabling disorder your major sinus infections must be nothing more then a cough. he said jokingly. "And yes, everyone has their own unique personality. Some personalities compliment each other while others simply butt heads. Its like...wind and fire work together while fire and water actively work to destroy each other. To each his own, however. Just don't get in the way of a fire unless you're willing to pay the consequences. he said with a slightly malevolent smile and a gleam in his laughing eyes.

She chuckled. "I know it's overdosed these days. But nonetheless, I do actually have it. I've had it for a long time. But whatever, just a fair warning anyways." Hotari ducked out of the way of a running student, nearly having collided with them. She sighed lightly, rubbing her temple, then she stepped into the first building for class. "Weird to be cooped up inside again after all this time." She mumbled. She glanced around, then smiled back at Kasai. "It feels so.. strange just to be stuck in these dungeons for hours every day. I can't wait for the weekend already. Just hope I can find a seat with a window." She peered into some of the classrooms they were passing by, marking them onto a mental map. She thought over what he said. "Yeah, fire and wind work together pretty well. I get what you're saying." She chuckled, already thinking of how fast fires spread when assisted by wind.

"I swear I'm going to have to go over every inch of this high school and find places to hide..." She muttered under her breath, taking in a deep breath. "SO Kasai, you excited?!" Hotari exclaimed over-enthusiastically, poking him in the shoulder with smirk, obviously being sarcastic.

Kasai glanced down at her when she poked him and let out nothing more than a grunt. Excited would not be what he would call it. Being back inside the school made him feel...caged. Controlled. While the teachers thought the building cultivated knowledge to Kasai it cultivated numbness. He didn't feel like he belonged in school, he never had what with learning not being his strong suit and all. He felt more at home doing stupid stunts with his friends while sitting in class he simply felt out of place.

He reached into the side pocket of his backpack and pulled out his class sheet...first class of the semester was in room...AB-17. "Where the hell is AB-17..." he muttered aloud as he looked around at the classrooms around him. All the rooms around him were labeled with AA so he figured either AB is up a floor or is on a different hall intersecting this one. He looked for the floor signs at the stairwell and the next floor up started with BB. "Its one of these side halls...ah!" he exclaimed as he found the hall that went off with the AB rooms.

He started down the hall watching as the numbers slowly climbed. "14...15...16...18?" Kasai stopped and backtracked as the numbers seemed to skip a room. He looked on the opposite wall and smacked himself in the forehead. Of course it would be on the other side of the hall that I'm looking at... he thinks to himself as he approaches and turns the nob to let himself into the class. "You coming Hotari? Or do you have a different starting class?" Kasai calls back to Hotari before he enters the room.
