GENERAL APPEARANCE

Kazuo is often commented that in the future, he really should consider taking up a career as a model, as he certainly can impress just about anyone because of how hunky he is. Aside from his impressive height that towered most people he came across, Kazuo also has a very muscular build as he's literally ripped from the bottom to the top. He's also very flexible. This is the result of his 5 years of swimming and working out restlessly.

He has a neat and short dark brown hair, but it wasn't the most standing out feature on his face. Kazuo was born with unusual droopy teal eyes that easily make him quite stood out. However, it was a feature that complimented his look and his younger brother commented that sometimes they really shine like stars. He has a fair complexion and a few scars on his back and legs, though they aren't too visible.

In terms of attire, Kazuo has a wide range of clothes in his wardrobe. He doesn't follow any specific style of clothing as most what he usually wears are what he felt comfortable wearing.

Ever since Kazuo is a child, everyone usually have the impression of him as a very extroverted and gregarious individual. He can get along with just about anyone and is capable of making friends easily. He enjoys companionship and is always there to lend a helping hand for those who needed him. He treats people around him all equally, believing that no one deserved to be mistreated. Kazuo is a reliable man who cares a lot for the welfare of those who are important to him.

However, what truly makes Kazuo a good man is his protectiveness and bravery. He never afraid to stand up and defend his friends and families, even when the whole world is standing against them. Rather than letting someone to suffer alone, Kazuo is willing to share all that burdens with them. He never asked for a repay, as seeing his loved one smiling and happy is enough to make him the most contented man in the world.

Although Kazuo is selfless, people are usually attracted to him because of his looks only. So, he had always hope that he could find someone whom he can protect and be loyal to with all of his heart.

HISTORY

With Kazuo, life had never been too quiet nor too eventful. He's well-aware that there will always be moment of up and down and he could never seize to be on the move all the time. But for him, what truly matters is how much he can try to bring happiness to those around him and defend them from all harms that could possibly come to them. Twenty years ago, in an average house in Sapporo, Kazuo was born as the first child of a loving and hardworking couple. They aren't nearly rich, there are times that they are even necessitous, but they were a happy and warm family that anyone could have possibly dream of.

Kazuo's father, Daisuke, was a host who works in a local host bar near his house while his mother, Kasumi, is a high-school English teacher. While they are always busy with their work to bring food on table everyday, they've raised their son well and it is thanks to their contribution that Kazuo can become who he was today. Even as a child, Kazuo has always been bright and outgoing. He's a fun-loving boy who never seemed to rest just for a moment. His parents had taught him to always be kind and always protect those who are weaker than him, the very words that had followed him for the rest of his life.

When Kazuo reached the age of 8, their family welcomed a new member. Since the moment his younger brother, Akira, was born, he had been very protective of him. He loves his brother so much and often playing with him, to the point that everyone could have thought that he was a shotacon. And so, their family just live on happily like that, until the tragedy struck.

Only two years later after giving birth to her second son, Kasumi died because of cancer. It was a trauma that had always pained both Daisuke and his sons very much. However, at his mom's funeral, Kazuo didn't cry at all. It was because of the final words that his mother gave him. She told him to always be strong and that someday, he will find the person whom he can show his strength and loyalty to. Later that night, when a shooting star was seen on the night sky, Kazuo made a wish upon it, hoping that one day his mother's words will come true.

He found out that he was gay when he was 15 and since then had always sneakily hid gay magazines as well as other "inappropriate" materials under his bed. But unbeknownst to him, his father had always known about his sexuality. Thankfully, because Daisuke is also a bisexual himself, Kazuo was accepted and even encouraged to be true to himself. Before he knows it, Kazuo had graduated from high school and managed earn a spot Tokyo University, major in English and Social Study. This, is where the new journey of his life truly begins.

Bidding goodbye to his peaceful home city, Kazuo set off to the energetic and busy capital city of Tokyo along with his best friend, Takumi. He doesn't know what is there for him in the future, but living in a new place, meeting new people, making new friends, all challenges are waiting for him to overcome. Somehow, Kazuo also has a feeling that here, he will be able to find the person who was meant for him - the one whom he can love and devote with all of his heart.

When Hikari woke up the next morning, he was slumped over the dining table, head buried in his arms and back stiff from being bent at an odd angle. Stretching, he checked the time on his cell phone and was relieved to find that he hadn't slept in too late, as it was hardly seven thirty. Not that it really mattered how long he slept till, since he didn't have classes on Tuesdays anyway. Hikari stood and moved to his bedroom, grabbing a change of clothes and heading to the bathroom to shower. Once finished, he got dressed and started making breakfast, his hair still dripping slightly with water. XX
I wonder what I should spend the day doing...I wonder if Nakajima-san has classes today. If not, perhaps we could do something together. Or would that seem too much like a date? I doubt it. Well, at least I know Nakajima-san doesn't care about my interest in men, seeing as he didn't react at all when I spoke of my relationship with Miki... Hikari's train of thought came to an end when he recalled his former friend, and though he didn't dwell on the memory for more than a few seconds, it was enough to infuse him with the very familiar feeling of guilt over what had happened all those years ago. Onee-chan says I shouldn't feel guilty, but I can't help it. If it had been anyone else besides me, no one would have bullied Miki into moving away. XX
His train of thought once again came to a thought, this time as Kazuo made his way into the living room. "Ohayo, Kazuo-san. I made fried fish and porridge for breakfast, if you'd like some." Smiling sweetly to his roommate, Hikari added a couple of spices to the yakizakana before serving it, taking his seat and the table and happily engaging in conversation with Kazuo, all thoughts of Miki now gone from his mind. I wonder how nee-chan would react if I really did end up falling in love with my roommate like in that American novel she sent me last year. She would probably say 'I told you so' or something similar. Grinning to himself at the idea, Hikari gathered the dishes to clean, reluctantly accepting Kazuo's offer to help him do so. XX
"Say, Kazuo-san, do you happen to have any classes today? I don't have any on Tuesday or Thursday, so I was thinking of going to Akihabara for typewriter ink and a couple of novels that were recently published, and if you don't have any other plans, I would love for you to join me. If you'd like, you could also invite Takumi-san and Hanamoto-san as well." While his voice did waver slightly toward the end of his sentence, Hikari was entirely willing to put aside his awkwardness with Miki if it meant a day full of fun. In a way, he also sort of wanted Miki to come, if only so that they could get over the past and move on. He wanted to be friends, if possible. "I think it would be a good idea for me to be a bit more sociable for a change~" XX
Hikari finished drying the last of the dishes and politely excused himself, heading toward his bedroom to get ready for the day ahead of him. Of course, he had to bring his Polaroid and digital cameras with him - he never went anywhere without them - as well as his wallet, notebook, pencil case, Walkman, earbuds, and his cell phone. He carefully packed everything away in his bag and set it next to his bedroom door. Hm...I wonder if I should accessorize with something for once. Hikari didn't usually wear jewelry or anything of the like, but today he felt like having a change of pace, as if doing something different would somehow make him feel more 'daring'. Well, I suppose I could wear the hairpin nee-san sent me in her last letter. XX
Moving to the floor beside his bed, Hikari picked up the hairpin that was sitting next to his reading glasses. It was a dragonfly, made of sterling silver with emerald green stones stuck in here and there. It her letter, Akari had explained how the dragonfly symbolizes the stripping of restricting beliefs, limitations, and self-doubt - something he'd done when he'd decided to let Akari take over the family business instead. Smiling, Hikari moved his bangs off his forehead and pinned them to the side, double checking to make sure the pin wouldn't fall off and get lost or crushed during his outing. XX
I bet this pin makes me look even more feminine than I already do, not that it matters much. Hikari picked up his bag and stepped out into the living room, stopping to inquire as to whether or not Kazuo was coming along before heading toward the genken. As it turned out, Takumi and - surprisingly enough - Miki had agreed to join the group adventure to Akihabara, and Hikari couldn't help but look forward to it as he put on his shoes. He pulled the sleeves of his navy blue hoodie closer around his fingers when the group met up, and he greeted Miki with a simple few words, trying his best not to make the whole ordeal any more awkward than it needed to be. And then, they were off, chatting animatedly as they walked toward the train station. XX

A brand new day has just begun and Kazuo is in fact looking forward for today. Because he doesn't have any lecture to attend in the morning, he can take his time to go and see around Tokyo. He might just as well tag Takumi along and probably ask Hikari if the guy was interested, but only if he doesn't have any class to attend this morning too. He figures that Takumi will probably drag Miki to come with them, though it might be a little awkward for both him and Hikari if they were going to hang out with them. He just hope that things will get better between them.

Kazuo had already gotten up quite early to do his morning exercise. Usually he would have asked Takumi to come along, but knowing how much his best friend likes to sleep in, he thinks it would be for the best not interrupting their peaceful slumber. He didn't want to disturb Miki either. So it's him all alone again. Well, not entirely. When he stopped by the park, he saw that his new club president, Tsubasa, was also working out. They talked and chatted while helping with each other exercises. It seemed that he also lives around these areas and his parents work in a hospital, while his sister opens a coffee shop.

When Kazuo returned, Hikari had already gotten up too and was seemingly preparing breakfast. "Ohayo, Hikari-san. Wait for me a few moment, I'll get changing first then I'll join you." As he changed into a more suitable attire, he thought of how sensible Hikari seemed to be. It has been lucky for him to be able to live under the same roof with such a good roommate. At least now I've also known that it wouldn't be that awkward if he ever accidentally come across with my materials... He shook the thought off his mind.

After both of them have finished dining, Kazuo offered to wash the dishes. As he was doing his job, Hikari suddenly stated that he doesn't have any lecture to attend today, and so he was planning to head to Akihabara to get some typewriter ink and some newly published novels, and asked him if he had any class today too. "Oh, I was intending to ask you the same thing too. I'd glad to go with you to Akihabara. I don't have to go to school in the morning and I think neither are Taku and Miki-san too. I'll call them to ask if they wanted to come." Kazuo replied with a smile, before both of them headed into their room to prepare.

It seemed that Takumi and Miki are also eager to come along with them, as they didn't have anything better to do in the morning either, rather than sitting and play video games. Kazuo knew that both of them got along well though, perhaps a little too well for someones who had just got to know each other. But it was no surprise taking into account of how sociable both of them are. Figure that Miki-san probably will need someone to distract him from all the thoughts about Hikari-san too. Kazuo sheepishly thought.

When everyone is ready, they all head to the train station. Chiyoda ward is pretty far from Bunkyo ward, so the best way to get there is by train. When Hikari and Miki met, they exchanged a few words with each other. Though they still remained distant, it didn't seem to be as bad as yesterday, which was something Kazuo and Takumi secretly felt relieved at. When the train arrived, the four board it as it headed to Akihabara.

Well, I could only imagine how it would be like xD

After their initial greeting - which was polite, but still awkward - Hikari and Miki didn't speak to one another directly, instead only responding to whatever their respective roommates spoke, and they both remained a fair distant away from each other as they walked, with Kazuo and Takumi between them at all times. Hikari hadn't really expected anything different, nor did he put any effort into changing it. It would take time for them to heal, and he would much rather be ignored than risk making it worse by forcing Miki to interact with him. Doing so would be the opposite of helpful. XX
The group's conversation was light and uplifting, the discussion brushing over a wide variety of topics, though it lingered particularly on school and living in Tokyo. Since Hikari was the only one who had lived in Tokyo for more than a month, he was the one everyone looked to when it came to knowing what places were good to go to or how the city really functioned. It was very different from Kyoto, and it had been much harder for Hikari to adjust than it likely would be for Kazuo and Takumi, who were both from Sapporo. Hikari didn't know anything of how Miki would adjust to the area. XX
As the four rode the train toward their destination, they all chatted quietly about the places they'd grown up in. Hikari spoke fondly about the many different shrines that surrounded his family home, which was technically a shrine itself. Miki surprised Hikari by added an extremely detailed description of the Osawa family home, as well as his own home. They both listened intently as Kazuo and Takumi talked about Sapporo, about winter and heavy snow and the over-abundance of places to purchase alcohol. After all, the mountainous Hokkaido city was famous for the brewing of beer. XX
"You all came come in if you'd like, though I can't promise how interesting this store is going to be." Hikari said, gesturing toward a small antique store that sat sandwiched between two different arcades, completely out of place. "Feel free to wait outside if you'd like." Stepping into the shop, Hikari took a few seconds to scan the room for anything of interest, his eyes moving over '80s-style Western clothing and old-fashioned televisions, one of which he already owned. Age-old paper fans, jewelry, teapots, antique board games, and a wide variety of clothing items were strewn about the room, making the air smell faintly of dust and very old perfume. Hikari smiled to himself and stepped up to the register, the elderly woman recognizing him. XX
Hardly a minute passed before he had gotten what he needed and the group was back on the streets of Akihabara, cheerfully discussing where to go next. Hikari himself chose not to give his opinion, as he was far more interested in finding out what kinds of places his friends liked to hang out. At the moment, all he knew was what he'd been told by Kazuo during meals, and although he knew most of Miki's hobbies, the blonde could have changed drastically in a span of five years. It feels odd, not knowing close to anything about someone I thought I knew so well. I suppose it can't be helped. XXX
After a few minutes of decision-making, they all settled on the space-themed arcade next to the antique shop, and set off to surprise each other with their gaming skills. Hikari was surprisingly skilled at anything involving a gun. "I suppose you could compare aiming a gun to taking pictures from a camera~" He also managed to surprise everyone a second time around - well, everyone except Miki -when he managed to beat the high score on Dance Dance Revolution. Hikari himself had no idea how he was good at the game, since he'd never danced a day in his life, but he enjoyed it all the same. XX
Image

X You have to be under a certain weight to qualify, and usually only young kids are light enough, so they almost always fall off. Its kind of like bullriding, in a way.
X Also, I have a bit of a thing for antiques, so I may or may not have gone out of my way to describe an otherwise irrelevant shop that adds nothing to the plot...

While the four of them were still sitting together on the train, they talked together about all sorts of stuff. Well, the ones who were doing most of the talking were Takumi and Miki, despite the awkward atmosphere that is still in the air. Kazuo also joined in for a couple of times but he didn't say much, since Takumi had already spoke what he wanted to say already. Most of them are about their hometowns. Kazuo hadn't been to Kyoto before, though he can imagined how they would be through the title "land of thousand shrines."

When the train stopped at the station in Akihabara, they all made their ways to the antique shop first, for Hikari to get some of the stuffs he needed. Following the topic of their hometowns, Takumi continued to tell them about Sapporo, and proudly stated that both him and Kazuo knew how to drink since they were only 12 and that they can drink anyone under table, though Kazuo didn't find that something to take pride of. And also the fact that they have to wear three layers of clothes or else they would freeze whenever winter come.

Stopping in front of the antique shop, Hikari went inside and told the three of them to wait, or they can come in though there probably aren't anything that they would find interesting. In the end, they decided to wait while the three taller guys waited for him.

"Had he always been into antiquity and old stuffs like that?" Takumi asked as he and Miki sat down at the bench next to the shop while Kazuo bought some drinks from the vending machine nearby.

"Yeah, even most of the stuffs in his room are things dated back to the ancient time." He chuckled and replied before turning his face away, muttering to himself, "I guess he hasn't changed at all..."

"Hmm? What are you two talking about?" Kazuo asked as he threw Takumi and Miki their coffee cans. Miki just shook his head said that it was nothing.

After Hikari had finished shopping, Kazuo gave him a can of juice before making their way to an arcade nearby. Well, this type of place is exactly where Takumi is supposed to be, since he was confident that no one can beat him when it comes to game. However, both Kazuo and him were surprised by seeing how good Hikari was at shooting and dancing, as they gave him a rather exaggerated applause. Miki, however, just quietly observed Hikari.

They then stopping by some food stalls on the street, taking pictures with some anime mascots, buying some mangas and books in a bookstore. There were really all sorts of people here though and it isn't really surprising if half of the people there were otakus. When it was lunch time, they stopped by a McDonald's shop and had some hamburgers. Kazuo and Miki, however, excused themselves since they had lectures in the afternoon.

As the two of them board the train that took them back to Bunkyo ward, they conversed about many other stuffs, though it was rather surprising that the topic of how Miki felt after hanging out with Hikari was never brought up, since Kazuo understands that it was rather touchy, though Miki seemed somewhat relieved. They parted way when they made it back to the complex building to grab their schoolbag.

The afternoon lessons went on peacefully. It seemed that Kazuo didn't gain as much attention as yesterday because he wasn't going with Hikari. He doesn't know how to feel about that though. There's nothing particular that happened, except for when he was handing the attendance paper for Okamoto-sensei, as the lecturer said to him something about "looking after his back." He felt rather confused, but decided not too concern himself over it too much.

It was 5:30PM when he finishes, and only half an hour later until he and Takumi started their first day working part-time at Albrecht Coffee Shop - where they were accepted to work. Making his way back to the apartment, Kazuo greeted, "I'm home." Approaching Hikari, he continued where he left, "I have to work part-time with Taku at a Coffee Shop today. I won't be back until 9:00PM so you don't have to wait for me, okay? You don't have to make dinner for me either, I can stop by the convenience store to buy something."

Once they'd grown bored of the arcade, the group then gravitated toward a market tucked away in the back alleys of the city. The market itself was filled with stalls selling food, handmade jewelry, pottery, and even good-luck charms. In a way, it reminded Hikari of markets from his hometown. As they made their way through, Hikari watched in amusement as Takumi and Miki made it a point to try out whatever foods caught their interest - which, in the end, was quite a lot. Hikari found himself both intrigued and infinitely amused by Kazuo's badly-hidden love for cute things, and joined in on the admiring, leaving the market with a brand-new pink stuffed rabbit he planned to send to Akari whenever he got around to sending his next letter to her. XX
As they were in Akihabara, it wasn't long before they came across a group of mascots showcasing a new anime, and Hikari was more than happy to photograph his friends with the characters. Hikari himself didn't watch anime, so he had no interest in the ordeal, though he was inevitably pulled into one of the photographs by Takumi. Not that he minded, really. The four then made their way to a famous bookstore. Miki practically dragged Takumi into the manga section, his love for manga and anime rivaled by none. Hikari was content to look over a collection of English novels he'd found, chatting quietly with Kazuo about the ones he'd read before and recommending quite a few. He ended up purchasing a copy of Alice In Wonderland. XX
It wasn't until lunchtime, when the group stopped at a nearby McDonalds to eat, that Hikari came to realize how many places he hadn't been to before. The arcade had been one. McDonalds was another. Despite having lived in Tokyo for over a year and having passed one every day in order to get to class, he had never once eaten anything from the franchise. Judging by the surprise on Nakajima-san and Takumi-san's faces, I'm going to assume that is unheard of. Hikari explained that his family was hell-bent on cooking every meal themselves, and that he'd never really eaten out anywhere at all, whether it be a fast-food place or a fancy restaurant. "My mother gets a bit worried when it comes to any type of food we didn't prepare ourselves." XX
Hikari was a bit sad to see Kazuo and Miki leave, though he understood that they both had classes that afternoon, and didn't allow his mind to linger on the disappointment. He and Takumi continued to walk about Akihabara, stopping to look around in different stores and chatting about a wide variety of things along the way. During the conversation, Hikari was given the opportunity to soak in several different stories - some of which were sure to be embarrassing - about Takumi and Kazuo's childhood. Hikari learned more about Kazuo's mother and little brother, and a bit about Takumi's family, though the tall blond seemed much more interested in talking about his friend. I wonder if I talked about Miki the way he talks about Nakajima-san... XX
As expected, the apartment was empty when he arrived, and Hikari mumbled a quiet 'tadaimasu' to himself as he slipped off his converse. He carefully taped his new photographs up on his bedroom wall, setting his cameras and the book on the floor beside his futon, and changing out of his damp clothing. He then spent the next hour reading Alice In Wonderland, soft classical music playing from the radio. How interesting, to be in a dream but also not be. I wonder if Alice will ever make a concrete decision of whether she's dreaming or not. Hikari's head snapped up as the front door opened. XX
"I'm home." "Welcome back, Kazuo-san." He said sweetly, carefully marking his place and closing the book. "I have to work part-time with Taku at a Coffee Shop today. I won't be back until 9:00PM so you don't have to wait for me, okay? You don't have to make dinner for me either, I can stop by the convenience store to buy something." Smirking at his roommate, Hikari crossed his arms over his chest and shook his head. "I'm afraid that won't do, Kazuo-san. Eating processed food from a convenience store is not the type of meal that will keep you healthy. Someone as handsome as yourself deserves to eat real food, and if I'm the only one home to cook for you, than cook for you I shall~" And with that, he turned back to his book, smiling. XX
Hikari bid Kazuo goodbye as he headed off to work, almost feeling like a housewife waving to her husband as he left. That's an entertaining thought. Returning to the sitting room and taking his seat at the dining table, Hikari turned back to his book, though he only half-concentrated on the words as his mind was preoccupied with thoughts of ever being referred to as Kazuo's 'wife' or even 'husband'. Well, I suppose I can't deny the fact that I did flirt with him half an hour ago, though he could very well be a ladies man. He laughed quietly to himself, entertained by the idea. After all, it couldn't be denied that Kazuo was an extremely handsome man, and he definitely wasn't a complete musclehead jerk like some handsome men tended to be. XXX
As promised, Hikari made sure there was a meal waiting when Kazuo returned. Donburi, complete with fresh salmon and bean sprouts. I wonder what nee-san would say to me if she knew I actually put off my 'far-too-early' bedtime in order to cook dinner for a man. She would probably be proud. XXX

Kazuo listened to Hikari's statement that he shouldn't eat processed food and that someone as handsome as him should eat healthy cooked food, because Hikari is the only one at home so he'll cook for him. Kazuo giggled while scratching the back of his head at the remark that he was 'handsome', "Thanks for the compliment, I don't usually get it much. I used to eat packed bento from convenience stores all the time back in Sapporo when I didn't have time to cook. But since you've insisted, I supposed it couldn't be helped."

He then put his shoes on, "I'll see you later then." Kazuo said with a grin as he made his way out of the apartment, with Takumi already stood waiting for him. "Well just look at that, you two seemed to get along just fine as well, huh?" The blonde snickered to his best friend, only to be punched lightly on his arm. "Whatever. Let's go then. It's not good being late on the first day at work, hmm?"

With that said, the two of them headed off the building and made their way towards Albrecht Coffee Shop. It's already evening so the streets are bustled with people. Sometimes it just feels like the city itself never seems to rest. Not that it made much of a different in Sapporo though. Kazuo was hoping that his first day working in Tokyo would be just as smooth as when they are at school.

When they've made it to the coffee shop, they entered through the back entrance as instructed the day they sent in their applications. The shop's owner - Kyoka, was there to personally greeted them. "That's good, you two are not into tardiness. Let's go, I'll introduce you to everyone." She then led the way as they followed her to the staff's room. There were about 10 other people there, both males and females, and they stopped whatever they are doing when they saw their boss walked in, with two new guys.

Kyoka then proceeded to tell that they are the newcomers and hope that they will work well from now on. Both of them introduced themselves before bowing respectfully to their new colleagues. And everyone gave an applause as a welcome. Kyoka then gave two of them their uniforms and told them to hurry as the shop will open in the next 10 minutes.

It seemed that the Coffee Shop was really popular, though most of the customers were students and some office workers. Since this is not the first time both of them have to work part-time, it's not that difficult for them to handle. Takumi managed to impress his fellow baristas behind the counter with his skills at making different types of coffee and beverages, while Kazuo's gentlemanliness found its' place to shine. Half of the female customers were, unsurprisingly, got their attention drawn by the "two new handsome guys."

They worked restlessly with Takumi making drinks while Kazuo sending them out, while keeping eyes on anyone suspicious. It have been quite an energetic three hours for them. When their shift is over, Kyoka complimented them for their good performance on the first day and reminded them of their next working shift. After changing back to their former attires, they bid goodbye to her and their colleagues before leaving.

The city is still lively as ever. As they made their way back to the building, they stopped by a convenience store. Mostly for Takumi to buy his dinner since Miki probably would be too busy to cook. They parted way when they reached the floor where they live. "I'm home." Kazuo said as he entered the apartment and locked the door. He didn't receive any reply though so Hikari probably have settled for the night.

And as Hikari had promised earlier, there were some foods waiting for Kazuo on the table. He really is a thoughtful person. Kazuo thought to himself. He heated the food and enjoyed his dinner. He secretly wondered how it would feel knowing that someone is always there, waiting for him to return, under the roof of the place he could call home. He couldn't really consider himself a romantic person because he had never fallen in love before. But he did inherit some of his father's traits, after all. But at least for now, he's feeling contented enough.

Another long day had ended, just peacefully like that.

When he woke up the next morning, Hikari was the only one in the apartment, and as such decided he would be the one to make breakfast. After getting dressed in his usual school attire - a nice shirt, slacks, tie, and sweater - Hikari clipped his hair back once again and headed into the kitchen, setting about making the meal. He was happy to find that the previous night's leftovers had been eaten. Well, I did tell him I would cook for him, so he would have no reason not to eat the meal except to be purposefully rude, which I'm pretty sure Nakajima-san is not. Humming quietly to himself, he continued on cooking, stopping every couple minutes to move the entrails of his scarf out of his range of motion, eventually removing it altogether. XX
Kazuo returned not long before the meal was finished, and the two ate together, chatting mostly about cooking. Hikari's parents were very adept cooks, and he had also been cooking for himself for over a year, so he had a lot of experience. "One thing that has always entertained me is the fact that my elder sister is most likely to worst cook on the face of the Earth. We had to replace our oven once after she destroyed it trying to bake a birthday cake." Hikari smiled at the memory. After eating, he and Kazuo gathered up the dishes and got to work washing them. I feel like a routine might be forming. XX
As opposed to their first day of classes, Kazuo and Hikari walked to school alongside both Takumi and Miki, the latter of which still refused to communicate with Hikari in more than a few subtle glances. Hikari himself didn't mind, so long as their lack of interaction didn't make it awkward for their two newer friends. The group split up at the campus entrance, Kazuo and Hikari for their English lecture hall and studiously going over the vocabulary they'd reviewed during their first day. Most of the words were ones they already knew. As expected, the lecture hall was about half-full, students still filtering in. Hikari took his usual seat at the back of the room and chatted lightly with Kazuo as they waited for their professor to arrive. XX
The class was definitely more productive than their first, since their professor was in a better mood and seemed to be more keen on actually teaching instead of simply having everyone review vocabulary from the previous semester. An hour and a half later, and the bell rang, signaling the end of the lecture. "I suppose I'll see you at lunch then. Enjoy your Social Studies class, Kazuo-san~" Hikari said, waving to his friend as he exited the lecture hall and made his way across campus to the photography room. Hanamura greeted him as he entered, and he smiled politely back to the professor. XXX
Much like his English lecture, the photography lesson passed by quickly, filled with discussion about angles and whether physical film was better or worse than digitally downloading photographs. Hikari was the first to leave the room and slowly made his way toward the cafeteria. He didn't make it far before his otherwise simple day became infinitely more complicated. "Oi, Osawa Hikari! How funny that you'd end up here instead of at some big-wig academy, winning awards and shit like that." Turning toward the source of the taunt, Hikari came face-to-face with Sunohara, one of his Junior and Senior High school classmates - and one of the bullies that had messed with Miki all those years ago. "Sunohara-san. Nice to see you." XXX
"Don't be an ass, I know you don't like me. Which is fair since I pretty much hate you." The taller male went on to spout a few more insults, though Hikari wasn't really listening, simply watching his former schoolmate with a blank expression. A crowd had gathered, and he caught sight of Kazuo, Takumi, and Miki all watching with worried expressions, Miki especially so. Sunohara laughed out loud when he saw Miki. "Hanamoto? You mean you're here too? Oh wow, I guess being beaten to a pulp didn't do it, you're still in cahoots with this asshole over here! Pathetic." XXXX
"That is an incorrect assumption, Sunohara-san." Hikari said, an uncharacteristic edge in his voice. "Hanamoto-san and I no longer have any relations to one another, so there is no reason for you to bother him any further. Now, if you'll excuse me, I only have an hour until my next class and I would rather not waste my lunch break listening to a former bully insult me without reason." He took a moment to send a glare toward Sunohara before turning to walk away, ignoring how obviously shocked his roommate seemed. It was to be expected. Kazuo had never seen him defending himself. XXX
Unfortunately, Sunohara was not pleased. Hikari didn't have time to react as a hand wrapped around the strap of his messenger bag, dragging him violently to the stone floor. He hissed as his body hit the ground, eyes widening as he heard the crack of his camera lens shattering. Hikari sucked in a few breaths and sat up, immediately noticing that one of his hands was bleeding, and the other now scratched. There was also a brand new hole in his pants. To think that so much damage could come from simply being pulled over. I hate this. Well, I suppose Nakajima-san now realizes what I meant. XX

When Miki, Takumi and Kazuo met up and intending to make their ways to the cafeteria when the bell rang, signaling the lunch break, they were talking of how their lectures had been. That is, until a crowd of sorts is gathering and blocked the way. Trying to make their way to the front to see whatever was happening, they were surprised to see that Hikari was being taunted by some guy taller than him. "That was Sunohara, one of the guy who used to bully Osawa-san back in our high school days. For someone with horrible scores like him, how could he even make it here anyway?" Miki said while looked at the other guy with disdain.

Right away, Sunohara seemed to realize that Miki was also there and threw him a few insults as well. Kazuo tried his best to remain calm, though it was mostly due to Takumi holding his arm from behind, while constantly reminded him not to do anything rash. Before Miki could say anything else, however, Hikari spoke up against Sunohara and tried to walk away. But of course, the guy probably wouldn't want to let him off so easy like that.

The moment Kazuo saw that Hikari was pulled back violently, his fists had already clenched as he ground his teeth. He was stepping up to the scene the moment he saw that Sunohara was about to throw a punch at Hikari.

However...

"Yare, yare. I've always admired the surplus of energy of youth that you students often display. But don't you think that fighting at the middle of school like this is suitable, hmm? Is this what you were taught back in your high school?" Someone spoke up from behind as Sunohara's arm was held back and bended from behind with such force that a crack voice could be heard. Winched in pain, he turned back, only to be visibly horrified at the sight of that person.

"Okamoto-sensei...?" Kazuo was surprised for the second time the moment he saw his social study lecturer. Upon seeing the sight of him, the crowd quickly dispersed, until there were only them left.

Kuzuki just stood with his other hand calmly put in his pocket, while gripping Sunohara's arm tightly. He then proceeded to smile brightly, "From what I know, you seemed to have the record of bullying back then, right? Well, I'm very sorry to inform you that you're no longer in your old school, nor your Kyoto region. Where you are standing right now is Tokyo University, so you have to follow our rules. Are you clear, Sunohara-san?" He then gazed at the young man with a calm, yet also menacing, look, "I will let it pass for now, but don't expect the same if I saw this happen again, okay?"

With an annoyed 'tch', the guy quickly moved his arm away, apparently in pain due to the sheer force that Kuzuki held him earlier. He walked pass them and threw Hikari a glare. "Are you okay, Osawa-san?" Kuzuki held out his arm and helped Hikari to stand up, "Those scratches looked nasty though. I suppose you three are his friends, right?" He said to Kazuo, Takumi and Miki, "Please accompany Osawa-san to the infirmary. But do make haste, since the afternoon lectures will begin soon. If that guy still causing you troubles from now on, let me know."

Then, the lecturer bowed respectfully before leaving. The three quickly walked up to Hikari, "Hikari-san, I hear something cracking earlier, did that bastard break your bones or anything?" Kazuo asked worriedly. It's normal of him to be like this whenever he saw his friends in trouble, "But let's get to the infirmary first, shall we?"

And then, the four of them went to the infirmary. There, Kazuo personally put bandage Hikari's wounds. Takumi had also stopped by his locket to grab one of his spare pants that he, strangely, stored for Hikari to wear because of the hole on his pants. "Well, it was lucky that there was nothing too serious. But I suppose there's nothing we could do about your broken camera though. I'll come along with you to buy a new one when we're free, okay?"

Noticing that Hikari was troubled, he just smiled assuredly, "Please don't worry about anything, Hikari-san. We're not the type to abandon our friends just because everyone doesn't share our opinions. Me and Taku will ensure that nothing bad will happen to you." He said with a grin, while Takumi nodded furiously from behind. Miki, however, just stood quietly with a blank gaze, as if he's feeling guilty.

As the bell rang, Kazuo startled as he realized that the lecture has begun. "Do you think you can still walk? I can take you to your lecture hall if you need."

Hikari tensed as Sunohara's fist enclosed around the front of his sweater, pulling him slightly off the ground. He shut his eyes on instinct as Sunohara went to hit him, but the hit never came, and instead he found himself sitting back on the ground, decently unharmed. It was only then that Hikari took notice of how hard he was breathing. Just concentrate on your breathing, imagine the pace you want it to be. His sister's words from years prior echoed in his head, and Hikari shut out the world around him, focusing on slowing his heart rate. Enough had gone wrong already, and he didn't want to add an asthma attack to the worry his friends were very obviously showing. Seconds passed, and Hikari felt his breathing pace return to normal. XXX
Looking up, Hikari watched Sunohara walk away with an angry glare, and let out a relieved sigh. "Are you okay, Osawa-san?" Hikari nodded with a small smile. "Yes, I will be fine. Thank you, Okamoto-san." He took his teacher's outstretched hand and pulled himself up from the ground, straightening his clothes and bending down to pick up the pieces of his broken camera lens. "Those scratches looked nasty though. I suppose you three are his friends, right? Please accompany Osawa-san to the infirmary. But do make haste, since the afternoon lectures will begin soon. If that guy still causing you troubles from now on, let me know." "I doubt he will, but if he does, I will make sure to let you know. Thank you." XX
"Hikari-san, I hear something cracking earlier, did that bastard break your bones or anything?" Hikari turned to find Kazuo rushing over to him with a worried expression, Takumi and Miki following close behind. "Ah, no, that was my camera. The lens shattered. I'm alright, Kazuo-san, I promise." The group then sped off to the infirmary, Hikari carefully dumping the shards of glass into a trash bin as they passed. The nurse wasn't there when they arrived, so Kazuo ended up bandaging every one of Hikari's injuries. It was all done in a delicate and caring way that Hikari couldn't help but smile at. XXX
Takumi also appeared with a pair of clean pants - Why on Earth does he keep pants in his locker? - which Hikari accepted gratefully, not fond of the idea of walking around with a gaping hole in his slacks. I seem to have found some really caring friends. I wonder if they're going to stay, knowing what it means to be a companion to someone of the Osawa family. "Well, it was lucky that there was nothing too serious. But I suppose there's nothing we could do about your broken camera though. I'll come along with you to buy a new one when we're free, okay?" "Oh, there's no need to buy an entire camera, though you can still accompany when I buy a new lens, if you'd like. I do appreciate your care, Kazuo-san, though you mustn't worry." XX
Hikari couldn't help but feel bad that Kazuo had seen him angry, as well as injured. His feelings must have shown in his expression because Kazuo was quick to react. "Please don't worry about anything, Hikari-san. We're not the type to abandon our friends just because everyone doesn't share our opinions. Me and Taku will ensure that nothing bad will happen to you." Hikari smiled at that, and even more at Takumi's wild nodding. "Well, hopefully that job won't be too difficult. I would hate to give the two of you more to do when you already have classes and part-time jobs." He caught sight of Miki's guilt-filled expression, and when their eyes met, the blond's gaze moved immediately to the floor, as if he thought Hikari was angry. XXX
The bell rang overhead, signaling the start of the next lectures, and Miki was quick to excuse himself. Takumi lingered a few moments later before bidding goodbye and heading off to his own class. Hikari watched them leave, letting out a tired sigh, and stood, picking up his things with care. "Do you think you can still walk? I can take you to your lecture hall if you need." Hikari smiled at the gesture. "Thank you, Kazuo-san, but I wouldn't want to make you any later to your lecture than you already are. Instead, why don't I wait for you after my lecture is over? We can walk home together. Try not to worry about me, please. I doubt I'm worth the worry." With that and a small wave, Hikari left, hurrying off toward his Music Studies lecture hall. XX
The class passed quickly, mostly due to the fact that Hikari really wasn't paying all that much attention to the lecture. A couple of students that had observed the fight gave him weird looks, but he really couldn't have cared less. For the first time in a long time, Hikari was the first person to get up and leave when the lecture ended, making his way out of the lecture hall and toward the campus entrance. Luckily, he didn't run into anyone else harboring ill will towards him - at least no one that was obvious about it. I guess I can't truly tell whether anyone dislikes me unless they show it in some way. When he reached the front entrance, Hikari slipped a jazz cassette into his Walkman and waited patiently for Kazuo's own lecture to finish. XX

When Hikari reassured Kazuo that he's okay and that he could walk to his lecture hall by himself, he still felt a little unease, as times like this were usually when his over-protectiveness come out. However, he didn't want to make things to get more awkward for his roommate more than it already is, so he just nodded to him, "Yeah, I understand. Please look after yourself, Hikari-san." And with that said, he made his way off the infirmary with haste.

Miki, however, seemingly had left when they didn't realize, which left Kazuo and Takumi making their own ways back to their respective lecture halls that they have to attend. For the most part, the lecture seemed to went on peacefully. He couldn't help but notice that some of the students who watched the fight earlier seemed a little bit... scared when Kuzuki looked at them. Well, it's normal for him to be intimidating like that since he was a lecturer after all, but being able to stop a delinquent like Sunohara showed that he's not to be taken lightly.

The rest of the lectures finished in a flash and when the bell rang, Kazuo quickly gathered his stuffs and made his way out of the hall, heading towards the school's entrance.

Meanwhile, Miki seemed to have finished at the same time as Hikari and was strolling his way towards the entrance. It was his turn to do the cooking today so he decided to went home before Takumi. When he saw Hikari, he was surprised, but tried his best to keep a calm expression. As he approached his ex-lover, he stopped by his side, "I have never blamed you for what had happened. None of that was your fault and I wanted you to know that... never once in my life would I ever bring myself to hate you." He said, before walking away without turning his face to look at Hikari.

As Kazuo joined Takumi when they met at the shoes' lockers, they chatted while making their ways to the school's entrance. "So some of the senpais told me a couple of things about Okamoto-sensei and it looked like he was not someone you could mess with." Takumi said to his best friend almost in a whispering manner.

"Why?" Kazuo raised the question.

"He took the fifth rank in the top ten best lecturers in Japan. What's more, he's the eldest son of the Okamoto family - the second most prestigious family in Japan. Though just like Hikari-chan, Okamoto-sensei didn't become the heir to his family to pursue his dream of teaching. Some rumors here and there even say that he has some ties with all sorts of shady people, like yakuza or something. Even the Principal of this university have to respect him, I can tell you." Takumi said before sighing, "Looks like we're not getting to act as comfortable as we could back in Sapporo anymore."

Kazuo chuckled, "Come on. It's not all that bad."

Both of them greeted Hikari as the three headed back to the complex together. "Tonight I'll make dinner so you should just take it easy, okay?" Kazuo said as he and Hikari went inside their apartment.

Hikari said nothing as Miki approached, not knowing what to say. He was surprised that Miki spoke first - considering the fact that they'd more or less been ignoring each other completely since they'd met two days prior. "I have never blamed you for what had happened. None of that was your fault and I wanted you to know that...never once in my life would I ever bring myself to hate you." As Miki left, Hikari exhaled the breath he'd been holding, and let out a quiet laugh. "Of course...how the hell was I supposed to know that..." No one was around to hear, and Hikari rubbed his bandaged hands over his face before anyone could see the tears. How ridiculous, only just now getting around to crying over my very first heartbreak. XX
There was nothing to suspect when Kazuo and Takumi showed up. Hikari smiled to them and waved as they approached, joining the two and following as they all made their way back to the dormitory. "Tonight I'll make dinner so you should just take it easy, okay?" Kazuo said. Hikari didn't bother to argue, and simply nodded in agreement, smiling to himself as he headed to his bedroom. After putting away his things, he carried his typewriter into the main room and made himself comfortable at the dining table, setting to work typing up the report to go with the set of photographs he'd taken of popular food establishments in the area. Most were well-known ramen shops and a couple were fancy restaurants he'd used his surname to get into. XXX
After about ten minutes, Hikari's hands began to ache, as typing was apparently aggravating the scratches he'd gained earlier. Hikari frowned at his hands in annoyance and returned his typewriter to its place on his desk, now forced to find something else to entertain himself. I suppose doing something new wouldn't me much of a bad thing. I remember reading about a new planetarium in the newspaper last week, maybe I should go and visit. I've never written an article on a planetarium before... Grabbing his cell from where it had been left in his bag, Hikari searched the address of the planetarium and made sure the business was still open before heading over to Kazuo's bedroom, peeking in through his roommate's open doorway. XXX
"Kazuo-san, I'm going to go visit a new planetarium that opened up last week. I thought it might be an interesting place to write an article on. Would you like to accompany me?" He said, leaning against the door frame and smiling to Kazuo. I wonder if this kind of outing could be classified as a date. XX

X My poor baby!! I love you Hikari, I promise!! Anyways, the vacuum at my house broke, so I've been forced to use the mega-old mega-loud shop vacuum my bro
X uses to vacuum out his car. Now my ears hurt. My dog also got shots yesterday and she's been super duper drowsy all day, so that's fun. Had a decently fun day.

When Hikari just nodded to his offer without saying anything, Kazuo can clearly notice that something is definitely bothering his roommate. He quietly let out a sigh. For someone who would spend his life looking after the welfare of others like him, of course it would be quiet bothering for him too. Well, there hasn't been a whole lot of people whom he can truly look after for. Takumi, his dad, his late mom and Akira, his little brother, are really the only ones who are close to him. When it comes to Hikari though, even if they aren't that close yet, he knows that he had already added another person to that list. I definitely will.

He took some clothes from his own room and decided to take a shower first. It has been a rather long and eventful morning and it is natural for everyone to feel tired. Even though Miki probably would have already had Takumi to take care of, Kazuo hoped that things would be okay for him too. He doesn't understand much about things that people who are ex-lovers would usually do when they accidentally met again. Apparently it wouldn't be neither overly dramatic nor romantic like in those novels and manga he once read. But for now, it's best not to concern over it too much.

As he stepped out from the bathroom, he saw that Hikari was peaking in at the same time. "Hey, Hikari-san. Is there anything you need?" He asked. And Hikari then proceeded to ask if he could come together with him to a new planetarium that had just been opened the other day, in which Kazuo nodded in agreement. "Of course, I'd love to. Let's talk about it while we're having dinner, okay?" He smiled.

Then, Kazuo went into the kitchen and began to took out the ingredients from the cupboards and refrigerator to make dinner. He decided to make some burgers and Caesar salad for tonight. Sometimes he really did feel like a househusband though. Because he had always been taught to do the chores around house and cook foods for himself ever since his mom is still alive. He was grateful to her because of that. To say that their family is a family of cooks wouldn't be too much of an exaggeration.

When he's finished, they dined together and discussed about their trip to the planetarium, and concluded that they should go together when both of them are free. "I don't have any lecture of Thursday either, but I have an assignment with a group of my fellow classmates because sensei had just given us a project to do. Shall we make it weekend? We can also go shop for things that we're needing too if you like."

That sounds like fun indeed xD
Over here, people are just Euro everywhere, I didn't care much because I'm not a soccer fan LOL

"Of course, I'd love to. Let's talk about it while we're having dinner, okay?" Nodding, Hikari followed Kazuo into the kitchen, laughing amusedly as he was shooed out moments later to wait patiently while Kazuo cooked. He busied himself by silently watching the way Kazuo moved about, admiring his muscles and trying his best to be subtle about it. Hikari wouldn't be lying if he said he had the hots for his roommate, though the only person he would ever tell this to would be his siser, Akari. She was the only person who wouldn't be able to directly affect his life with the information, being in the U.S. XX
Dinner was, of course, absolutely amazing. It couldn't have been anything less if Kazuo was cooking. During the meal, the two discussed Hikari's planetarium-date proposal, and concluded that the best time to go would be on a day when students were allowed in free of charge. They were both glad to find that said days were Saturday and Sunday, which they both conveniently had free of classes. Kazuo also had Sunday off of work, so they decided to go then. It would also give Hikari time to head back into Akihabara to buy a new camera lens. Its sad that I was there only a few days ago... XX
"I'll need to visit Akihabara to buy a new camera lens before we visit the planetarium, so I may go and take a trip there tomorrow or the day after. You can come along, if you're free, though I doubt it will be a very interesting trip." The conversation carried on for a little while as they washed the dishes together - Hikari had adamantly refused to let Kazuo do everything himself - before Hikari announced he was going to take a bath. While he let his muscles relax in the hot water, Hikari called his sister for the second time that week and told her about what Miki had told him that afternoon. "Well hey, that's a good thing! I think its good to know that Miki was never against you, especially with the way you two broke up, Michan." XXX
"Anyways, I'm going somewhere right now where signal's gonna be a bit scratchy, so I have to go. I miss you." "I miss you too, Nee-chan. Come home soon, okay?" "I'll try my best!" Hikari didn't miss the hint of amusement in Akari's voice, but ignored it, assuming she'd probably just seen something funny right as she was hanging up. He spent a few more minutes in the bath, carefully running a finger over the scratches on his hands and knee, quietly humming the Clair de Lune to himself before eventually getting out of the now-lukewarm bath water and silently tiptoeing off to bed. XXX
The next day passed the same as every other. Somehow, the tension surrounding Hikari and Miki had disappeared completely, and the two conversed as if nothing had ever happened between them. It was a relief to everyone in their small social circle, especially Hikari, who hated being on bad terms with people. Classes were bland and monotonous but not un-enjoyable, and lunch period went by without any more drama, which Hikari was grateful for. It wasn't until the afternoon, when all four friends were returning to the dormitory, that the excitement grew, though not necessarily in a bad way. XX
Hikari and Kazuo were chatting about English slang, while Miki was listening to Takumi talk animatedly about something or other. As the group approached the tall dormitory building, a figure standing in the courtyard and surrounded by luggage caught their attention. Hikari recognized the figure immediately, and stood staring for a moment in shock before shoving what he was holding into Kazuo's arms and throwing himself at Akari, who burst out laughing and twirled him around with surprising strength. Miki grinned in recognition, explaining to Kazuo and Takumi that the woman was Akari, Hikari's sister who had been living in America for almost five years. Hikari was practically teeming with happiness, and quite obviously so. XX

Dinner passed by quietly as the discussion over their 'date' to the planetarium which Hikari had recommended. Well, since Miki and Takumi probably would want to be tagged along, it could be hardly called a 'date', after all. But at least, being able to hang out together somewhere after dreading lectures at university would be awesome. Though it's still days away before they actually be going, Kazuo is feeling excited already. The conversations shifted from the date into something else, which mostly around school stuffs and how they have been doing with their subjects.

When they've finished dining, they washed the dishes together, though Kazuo had insisted that Hikari doesn't have to, it seemed he couldn't really convince his roommate. Hikari said that he was intended to go to Akihabara to get some lens for his camera, and that Kazuo might tag along if he wanted to, though it may be a rather boring trip, but he shook his head, "Nah, it's fine. I'll go with you to Akihabara then. I'm sure there's gonna be more thing for me to do with the other two while you get whatever you needed." He said with a smile. When the dishes are washed, Hikari excused himself to go and take a bath. Kazuo also made his way back to his room. There, he turned on his laptop and decided to have a live chat with his dad, to see how things have been back home.

When Daisuke's face appeared on the screen, Kazuo was greeted by his usual bored expression. Well, for some reasons people at the host bar loves it to death. Apparently nothing much had happened in Sapporo, it has been snowing and he had been spending more time at home to look after Akira. Moments later, his younger brother poked it and said that he missed his onii-chan a lot, and they high-fived through the screen. Looks like everything was well at home.

"Well, be sure to be good at the kindergarten and listen to tou-chan, Aki-chan." Kazuo said while smiling brightly.

Akira nodded repeated, "I will, I will. Please come back and see me soon, onii-chan. I love you."

"If you don't have anything else to say then I'm off." Daisuke said in a bored manner.

"Geez, even when I'm this far away, couldn't you show just a little bit of love like your harem?" Kazuo teased.

"Don't be gettin' full of yourself. Just remember to bring my son-in-law to see me next time you came back." His father said before they bid goodbye and turned off the call. He proceeded to finish a couple of homework before settled for the night.

The following day passed by in the same manner as everyday, though it seems that the awkwardness between Hikari and Miki have lifted. And they got Takumi to thank for that, since they've been spending the whole night last night confiding with each other. Though whatever they've been talking with each other remained unknown as Takumi stated that 'it's secrets between them.' Not that Kazuo would care too much about it.

When they've finished, the four of them made their way to the school entrance, where a young woman is seemingly waiting for them. Miki grinned and said, "That's Akari-san, Hika's sister." Miki grinned and introduced as he waved to her. "Long time no see, nee-san." He said to her. Kazuo and Takumi also went on and introduced themselves afterward.

"So when you said 'I'll try my best' on the phone yesterday, you were teasing me! And you had to hang up because there wouldn't be reception on the plane! I could have figured all that out, yet you still managed to surprise me." "What can I say? I'm good at keeping secrets~" Akari said, grinning and ruffling his hair. She grinned even wider when she noticed Hikari was wearing the dragonfly pin she'd sent him. "It suits you." People were now starting to stare, probably wondering who it was that Hikari seemed so happy to see, but neither of the Osawa siblings cared or even acknowledged it. They both smiled when Miki hurried over. He'd only gotten to meet Akari about twice before she'd left for the states, but he still knew her well enough. XX
"Well well, look who went and got taller! You're as tall as I am now, Miki-kun!" Akari said, ruffling his hair as well and leaning close to whisper in his ear. "Michan told me what you said to him yesterday, and I wanna thank you." Winking to Miki and putting a finger to her lips in a show of secrecy, Akari turned to Kazuo and Takumi as they introduced themselves. "Well, its nice to meet you two! I've already heard a lot from Michan, especially about you, Kazu-kun~" Hikari got a little red-faced, but didn't bother to correct his sister, not really all that embarrassed by how much he'd talked about his roommate. He watched with a smile as Akari playfully interacted with his friends, as if they were her friends as well. XXXXX
Not that they weren't Akari's friends too - after all, Akari could make a friend out of anybody, a skill that Hikari had always been a little bit jealous of. XXXX
"Alright, nee-san, why don't we get all this stuff upstairs? Why did you bring so much, its like you brought everything you own..." Akari's grin faltered at his comment, and Hikari immediately noticed something was wrong. "Well, that's because it is everything I own, or at least everything I owned while in America. There's a lot I have to explain to you, Michan." Nodding, Hikari shared a worried look with Miki and gathered up as much of his sister's luggage as he could carry, the four of them helping her carry it all to the elevator and then to his and Kazuo's dorm. It really was a lot of stuff - after all, Akari had been living in America for nearly five years - but they worked together and managed to get everything up in one trip. XX
After bidding goodbye to Miki and Takumi, the atmosphere between Hikari and Akari became significantly more awkward and strained, though they both tried their best to hold up a conversation with Kazuo while he helped them carry Akari's things into Hikari's room. When they were done, he watched as his sister headed out onto the balcony, waving at him to follow her. "I'm sorry, Kazuo-san, but you'll have to excuse us." He noticed that Kazuo looked worried, and flashed him a small smile before joining his sister on the balcony and closing the door behind him. "What is it, nee-san?" XX
"So, you know Michael, the guy I've been dating for four years?" Hikari nodded. "Well...he got me pregnant. He ignored me completely after I told him, and the next day, he left without a word. I haven't told anyone else yet, and I thought it'd be best to come home." For a moment, Hikari felt as if he was about to panic, but he did his best to cool his thoughts. "Well, first of all, congratulations. I know that probably isn't what you want to hear, but I really am happy for you. But...nee-san, what's going to happen now? Obaa-san could have your inheritance stripped if she finds out you got pregnant without being married, or that you aren't in a relationship with the father. And what if the press finds out? Then what will happen?" XX
Despite his attempts not to panic, that's exactly what Hikari was doing, and it wasn't completely out of line. "Nee-san, what if obaa-san forces you out of the home? What if she takes the baby and puts it up for adoption?! What if-" "Hikari." Akari patted his head soothingly, trying to calm him before he went into a panic attack. "You don't need to worry about me, or about what obaa-chan will do. You know our parents would never let her go so far as kick me out or steal my baby. It'll be fine, I promise." Nodding slowly, Hikari turned to stare and the floor as Akari hugged him close. "It'll all be fine. Now, I have to go and meet up with someone in about a half hour, so why don't you go chat with your hunk roommate?" XX
Akari grinned to Kazuo as she headed for the front door, declaring that she was going to meet a friend and would be back by dinnertime. Hikari didn't smile as he entered the apartment, closing the balcony door slowly and scratching his arm as he stepped past Kazuo and into his bedroom. He shut the door behind him with a quiet clack and immediately took a seat at his desk, pulling out his typewriter and getting to work. Nee-san showed up at my dormitory out of the blue. She came to tell me that she is pregnant, and that Michael-san - the father - is no longer in the picture. I am worried about what our relatives will do. I am worried that nee-san's inheritance might be revoked. I do not want to have to be put in charge of the family company... XX
Hikari kept typing his feelings, every detail of what had happened and what he felt, even after his fingers started to hurt and cramp up. Eventually, he came to a stop after writing a full two pages, surprising when he was only detailing ten minutes' worth of an event. Surely I am over-reacting...its like nee-san said, it will all be fine. It has to be. Hikari left the pages where they were - one sitting idly on his desk and the other still stuck in the typewriter - and moved over, using the rest of his desk space to finish an essay for his English class that was due the day after tomorrow. Akari returned to the apartment an hour later, sparing no details of who she met with or what it was about, and happily offered to help Kazuo cook dinner for three of them. XX
Three turned into five, after Miki and Takumi were invited to join the meal, and they both rejoiced at how simply amazing the food was. "Well, our parents taught Michan and I to cook when we were very little, though I think Kazu-kun over here is even better than I am~" Hikari stayed silent throughout most of the conversation, only speaking when someone spoke directly to him and giving small, fake smiles whenever he did speak. Though Akari may have been ignoring the fact, it was very obvious that something was up with Hikari, and it was only a matter of time before Kazuo would undoubtedly ask him what was wrong. Hikari knew it would happen - his roommate was too kind a person not to care about his many stressors. XX
However, it could be argued that if Kazuo was so kind, he might avoid the topic completely out of respect. Hikari wouldn't have minded either way. XXX
Image

X Welp, their apartment suddenly has a balcony, I guess. And hinthint, Akari is going to meet with Okamoto because I bet you $100 he was her idea in the first place.

The three of them walked up and approached Akari when she was talking with Hikari. Apparently she doesn't seem to stress over formality much, despite Kazuo and Takumi have barely met her just moments ago. When Akari ruffled his hair and said that he had gotten taller, and whispering her thank to his ear, he just smiled and replied, "It's not me who you needed to thank, nee-san. But, it's something I just gotta do." He nodded to her when she signaled to keep it a secret, under both Kazuo and Takumi's curious eyes.

The two then stepped up and introduced themselves, and Kazuo couldn't help laughing it off when Akari said that Hikari had said a lot about him to her, "Well, I don't think that it's really that much. We've only been living together not very long. Probably not even a month yet." He said while scratching the back of his head. From behind, Miki could notice that Hikari was hiding his face away while blushing a little, and he smiled lightly at the sight. At least for now, there wouldn't be too much for him to worry about anymore, whenever he faces with Hikari from now on.

After all the greetings had been done, they all helped Hikari to get her luggage up to Hikari's room. Kazuo was a bit taken about by the amount she brought along with her, as if she was intended to stay over for very long. It took a lot of struggle for them but they've managed to get them all in just one go. When they've reached their floor and helped Akari to put the stuff inside, Miki and Takumi went back to their room. "I think it's been a long way for you. What do you want for dinner, Akari-san?" Kazuo was asking, but immediately noticed the weird atmosphere between the two siblings.

"Erm, is something wrong?" Kazuo asked nicely, as usual, and Hikari told him that he and his sister got something to speak in private, while flashing a rather unconvincing smile. He decided not to dwell into their business anymore and instead walked his way to the blonde boys' room, which was only a few blocks away. When he stepped inside, the first thing that greeted him was a huge mess, which probably hasn't been cleaned up since last night.

Sighing, Kazuo could almost convinced that they're probably meant to be the moment they met. Both of them are usually enthusiastic when it comes to cleaning, but unfortunately, it didn't last long. He could figure out that much after the frequent times he and Hikari stopped by in the past month. Then suddenly, there was laughter coming from the bedroom they share together, and something like "don't do that, stop" and "don't be shy, we've been roomies for a month." Sighing again, Kazuo made his way to their room, and facepalmed himself at the sight.

It would be quite a scene that people would misunderstood if they saw. Both of them were lying on their futons, while Takumi was caressing Miki's abs from behind, with the latter's shirt rolled up to his chest. "I can't believe you two. It wasn't even a month yet and I think you've done more than what a couple would usually do in a year." Kazuo said to them. Both of them sat up as Takumi sneered back, "Is that jealousy I hear, Kazu-chan? I haven't been worshiping your ripped body for a while and you've already missed me. Come then, I'll make it up for you ~"

Kazuo coldly pushed Takumi away when he was jumping for him. The three of them then went on to chat about the Osawa siblings, where Miki finally confessed how things had really been before with both him and Hikari. Well, he had already stayed up all night the day before to confide with Takumi, too. It turned out that it was never his intention to move from Kyoto in the first place. He had tried to hide the bruises and wounds he got from fights against those who bully Hikari, but his parents still found out. They flipped out on Hikari's parents and decided to move to Nagoya in the end, despite his protests. He doesn't even got a chance to explain and say a proper goodbye with his ex.

"People always do crazy things when they're head over heels for each other, y'know. And no matter how much I was beaten up, if I can protect him even for just a little bit, then I don't mind." Miki said with a light smile, "I too had hoped that our reunion would be different, but when I see him, I just... don't know what to do or say anymore. There isn't a single day that I didn't miss him. But when I finally see him again, my courage just disappeared."

The three of them went silent for a couple of moments, before Kazuo asked, "Do you still love him?"

"Of course I do. It's never changed in the past years. And I had wanted us to return to how we were, but I supposed... we are just not meant for each other. It's better for things to stay the way they are right now. I just need to look after him again, but this time, as friends. But, I believe Hikari had already found someone whose shoulders he can lean on already." Miki turned to him and smiled rather ambiguously. Kazuo doesn't understand what he meant by that, but decided not to let it concern him for now.

The five of them then shared dinner together. It was quite fun, as Akari really knows how to stir things up. Kazuo, however, once again noticing Hikari's distress. But decided not to ask as it would spoil the atmosphere. When they've finished dining, Miki and Takumi went back to their apartment, Akari had also retreated to Hikari's room, which left Hikari and Kazuo taking care of the washing up.

They stayed mostly silent, until Kazuo decided to speak up, "I'm sorry if I'm a bit curious... is everything fine with you and Akari-san?"

I think we could make a spin-off where Takumi and Miki are the main couple LOL
And that's almost correct xD

After dinner, Takumi and Miki headed back to their dorm to 'study'. Akari claimed she was exhausted from her red-eye flight, so she headed off to Hikari's room to sleep, eyeing him and Kazuo as she shut the door behind her. "I'll help with the dishes, Kazuo-san." Hikari said, gathering the plates and stepping quietly over to the sink. He stayed quiet as he scrubbed each dish, not knowing quite what to say. Luckily, Kazuo spoke first, breaking the awkward silence but sadly not the intense tension surrounding Hikari. "I'm sorry if I'm a bit curious... is everything fine with you and Akari-san?" XX
Hikari let out a long sigh. "Between me and nee-san, everything is as it usually is. We have always been close, and I do not remember us ever fighting. The problem is not between the two of us, the problem is between the two of us and our family." Not bothering to dry his hands of soapy water, Hikari turned around and leaned back against the counter, staring blankly at the floor. "Nee-san is pregnant, and I can't say I'm not happy for her. I suppose I have always dreamed about the day I would become an uncle. However, our grandparents will not be so understanding, especially when they discover that the father is no longer a part of nee-san's life. There are so many bad things that could happen, and I can't stop myself from worrying about her." XX
Suddenly, Hikari laughed, brushing his bangs out of his face and promptly getting soap suds in his hair. "And here I am, pouring all my problems onto you, even though you have nothing to do with all this. I really have always been a burden, haven't I? Perhaps there is a reason why no one ever seems to like me." Not taking the time to look up at Kazuo, Hikari dried his hands and wiped the soap from his hair, scratching his arm as he moved toward his room. "Oyasumi, Kazuo-san. Please don't worry about me, I doubt I'm worth the effort." And he crept into his room without another word. XX
The next morning, Hikari woke up before daylight so he could walk his sister to the train station. She needed to head home, and claimed she didn't want to make a fuss out of her leaving by saying dramatic goodbyes. Akari had always been that way. When she'd left for America, there had been no goodbyes. She'd slipped out in the middle of the night without a word. This time Hikari insisted on accompanying her, using the excuse of helping her with the small amount of luggage she was taking with her. "Michan, you really shouldn't be so hard on yourself. I don't think Kazuo thinks of you as a burden, or Miki or Takumi or even tou-san and kaa-san. And especially not me." "So you were listening in last night, I assume..." XXX
"Hikari," Akari spun around, grabbing his shoulders and giving him her motherly stare. "Haven't you ever thought that perhaps the reason you can't make friends is because you refuse to allow anyone to care for you? I'm fully aware that people ignore and avoid you, they did it to me too. But you have to love yourself before anyone else can love you. Calling yourself a burden and being negative all the time will eventually push everyone away from you, including Kazuo, who I know for a fact might be in love with you, even if he doesn't know it himself. I could see it in the way he worries, the way he looked at you during dinner. You can't let that go because you can't love yourself." XX
Akari's words echoed in his head, even as she waved to him from the train window as it sped off toward Kyoto, and even as he slowly made his way back to his dorm. What if she's right? How can I not feel like a burden? He frowned, walking into his and Kazuo's apartment as quietly as he could. XX

X Holy cheeseballs we should actually do that! It would be hilarious to see everything from their points of view, and I'd actually enjoy writing out the details of it all.

Kazuo listened attentively to every word that Hikari got to said about the what had happened between him and his sister, Akari. And it could only get more and more surprising by the minute. Apparently Akari is pregnant now and the father of the baby inside her had abandoned her, as if he doesn't wanted to take responsibility for what he did. That's also the reason why she had returned to Japan. But it seems things will become a lot more complicated from now on in the Osawa family, with a high chance that Akari might be have her inheritance of the family annulled.

"I-I see..." Kazuo said, trying to to smile in assurance, "You two must have had it tough. But I'm pretty sure everything will turn out okay. I mean, your grandparents may be harsh and stuff but they couldn't possibly just turn their back on their grandchildren like that, right? You don't have to think too negatively about it, nothing bad will come in your way-"

Though before Kazuo could finish his sentence, Hikari looked up to him with a sad smile, while brushing some of his bangs off. He then proceeded to apologize for pouring his troubles onto him, and loathed himself for being a burden all the time. "Hikari-san, that's not-" He spoke up, only to be interrupted again by Hikari bidding goodnight to him, and retreated to his room. He stood quietly and gazed at the closed door for a few moments, before sighing. It has always been in his nature to take care and look after others unconditionally, no matter how things may be daunting for them. So even if he's being pushed away, he's not going to give up.

As usual when morning came, Kazuo had already gotten up and did his jogging and exercises. On his way, he saw a familiar face, who turned out to be Tsubasa. "Hey, Tsubasa-san." Kazuo called over to his club president as he catch up with him. "Ohayo, Nakajima-kun. Working out today too?" Both of them chatted as they jogged together to the park where Kazuo usually exercising every morning.

At the park, they did their usual exercises together and Tsubasa gives Kazuo a few useful tips on how to improve his hand movements, as well as maintaining his speed more stably when swimming. Of course, he might have made it to the nationals, but there's a lot he can learn from the other members of the club. They sat at a bench and drank their own bottles of water to rehydrate themselves, while chatting on.

"I must say, Nakajima-kun, you really are a nice guy." Tsubasa said with a smile, "You certainly had been a great help since the past month. Most of the guys like you right away, which was not something usual for a freshman."

"Thanks for the compliment, everyone had helped me a lot too." Kazuo grinned while scratching the back of his head.

"I'm pretty sure that if anyone having a bad day, they would certainly cheer up a bit whenever you're around. It's something that I'm really envious of you, y'know? Always remain a good guy like that and girls will fall for you like autumn leaves." Tsubasa said with another grin.

Kazuo pondered for a few moment at the statement, "You really think that?" He asked, and his senpai nodded. Both of them then parted way as they still got morning lessons to attend. When he returned to the apartment, he saw Hikari walking quietly, "Hikari-san? Have you been accompanying Akari-san to the station?" He asked, then noticing the look in his eyes that hadn't changed since last night, and smiled, "I just wanted you to know that you're not a burden to anyone. I might not be able to help you with your family affairs. But I'm your friend, and there's nothing wrong in relying on your friends whenever you have trouble. So please cheer up, okay? I'm sure both Taku and Miki-san will say the same. You don't want to be over pessimistic just before our trip to Akihabara, right?"

Hikari had forgotten that Kazuo went on runs every morning, and remembered the fact when his roommate came in behind him, making his tip-toeing completely unnecessary. "Hikari-san? Have you been accompanying Akari-san to the station?" "Yes. My sister hates goodbyes, she wanted to make sure she was gone before anyone could feel sad about seeing her go." Hikari sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I suppose that's the kind thing to do." "I just wanted you to know that you're not a burden to anyone. I might not be able to help you with your family affairs. But I'm your friend, and there's nothing wrong in relying on your friends whenever you have trouble. So please cheer up, okay? I'm sure both Taku and Miki-san will say the same. You don't want to be over pessimistic just before our trip to Akihabara, right?" Kazuo said, smiling in such a way that made Hikari's heart swell. XX
"I suppose you're right. Thank you, Kazuo-san." Hikari smiled, a genuine smile, and stood up a little straighter, still feeling bad about himself but not as much. "Speaking of our trip, we should try to leave between nine and noon tomorrow, in order to avoid the morning and afternoon crowds. Not that it is really all that important." Hikari rambled. Pulling the dragonfly brooch from where it was stashed in his pocket, Hikari pinned back his bangs and offered to make breakfast, refusing to be dissuaded from the idea. Kazuo had been making all the meals and he wanted to thank him, if in such a small way. I should ask Takumi-san what kind of gift Nakajima-san would enjoy. I need to find a way to thank him for taking care of me when I was injured. XX
Inspired by his sister's sudden visit, Hikari decided to make a Western-style breakfast, complete with pancakes from an online recipe and a bottle of maple syrup Akari had sent him in a package once. According to her letter, it was one of those foods that never went bad. During the meal, Hikari was still quiet, though it wasn't nearly as awkward and depressing as it had been the night before. "One day, I would like for you to come with me on a trip to my hometown, perhaps for New Year's. I think you would like it. The scenery there is beautiful, and it would be much calmer than Tokyo." Every year, Hikari went home over winter break in order to help his parents manage the family shrine. There were always an abundance of visitors during Christmas and New Year's, so they needed all the help they could get, and it was a nice change from the time he'd spent in the busy Tokyo atmosphere. XX
Unlike Kazuo, Hikari didn't have any classes to attend, however he decided to come along anyways, planning on spending some time in the library to study. He also wanted to take a few pictures of the school's garden, which reminded him of the project he still had to complete. That's right, I still need to take photographs of a person... The idea was still a tad bit annoying, but Hikari also knew it would be a good excuse to take photographs of Kazuo - if he was allowed to, anyhow. The only photograph of a person he had at the moment was the one of Kazuo sleeping, which had been taken on the sly. XX
Hikari bid goodbye to Kazuo, Takumi, and Miki as the four went their separate ways once reaching the school, and he tucked his earbuds in his ears as he made his way toward the library. As he passed the school garden, Hikari decided to instead spend the next hour or so there. The sky was grey but not yet raining, and as usual, no one was there to bother him. Pulling out his Polaroid camera, Hikari snapped a few pictures of the flowers in the garden before laying flat on the grass, camera pointed at the grey clouds. After he'd taken about fifteen Polaroids, he sat up and carefully tucked them away, instead turning to his English vocabulary list to practice writing out different sentences. And there he remained, until lunch, several hours later. XX

When Hikari thanks Kazuo, he just nodded with another smile, "It's natural. We're friends after all, right? And I'll never turn back on my friends no matter what happened. I'm pretty sure Akari-san wouldn't want you to keep all the burdens for yourself, too. So just rely on me, okay?" Hikari then suggested that they should be going between nine and noon, as there will be a lot of crowds on the street, "Yeah, I agree with that too. But I'm fine with anything, really. As long as you got what you need."

Hikari then proceeded to make breakfast for both of them, which was a Western-style one served with pancakes and maple syrup. Kazuo once had pancakes before, but he had never tasted maple syrup and would use honey instead anytime he makes pancake. It really brought out a total new flavor. Of course, Hikari's foods are always tasty, so there's no comment over it. While they ate away their breakfast, Hikari remained quiet still, though thankfully, not as heavily as yesterday. When he commented that Kazuo should travel with him to Kyoto, probably on New Year or something, he smiled, "That sounds nice. I've always wanted to see how it is in Kyoto in New Year or something. You should come to Sapporo too. Usually there's a lot of snow at the beginning of the year too and I'd love to teach you how to ski, if you want."

The group of them headed for university as usual. Since Kazuo only had morning lectures today, he was quite relieved that he got to spend the whole afternoon off. The lectures passed by in a flash and Kazuo gathered his stuff in order to catch up with Hikari at lunch break when as he could settle for the day and go back to his apartment. He still got a shift at Albrecht later that evening, but he doesn't mind it much.

Kuzuki was strolling at the school's entrance after a lecture of his, when he saw Hikari standing in front of the gate. The lecturer approached him, "Hey there, Osawa-san. I don't remember that you have any lecture to attend today, what business you have?" He asked with a smile, before shooting Hikari an alarming look, "Be careful." He merely said before walked away before he could ask anything else.

Moments later, Kazuo caught up with Hikari, "Oi, Hikari-san. Shall we go home?"
