History

Life was simple, my father owned a small fishing buisness and my mother was here- and that's all we needed, family. I buttoned up Nick's shirt, my 12 year old brother. Mom stepped in the room, "How are you boys doing?" She smiled when she saw Nick holding my hand, shivering. "Sweetheart, you're not going to be reaped...I promise." "You promise, mama?" Nick replied. My mother crossed her heart and kissed Nick on the head. My father joined her hand and smiled at me. He handed me the "lucky coin" he always kept. "For luck..." He said smiling. "Alright, alright..." I replied with a smirk. Not that I would need any luck, I had learned to use a trident for my father's fishing buisness. We went up to the Justice Building as we watched the announcer make an introduction. And our male tribute, "Seth Canteg!" I clentched my fists and turned my head toward Nick, his mouth gaping open- I nodded slightly. Maybe I did need luck.

So begins...

The departure was quick, because I didn't have anyone to say goodbye to. I wasn't allowed really to bring any belongings, I would be showered with riches at any moment or killed in an istant- the only thing from home that I brought was my silver locket. On the way to the "fabulous" train, I was sitting in the car, looking out at the window watching everyone stare at us. The escort kept blabbing between me and the boy tribute...who I hadn't seen yet. I turned my head to get a glimpse of him. I didn't know his name, but I had seen him around the District before. His jaw was clenteched tightly and his eyes were closed, or at least I thought they were. I couldn't see anything beyond the bangs of his blonde hair. I turned to look back out at the window as we arrive to the train.
Desserts were piled high, and velvet sofas linded the edges of the train. The windows were edged with a soft curtain, and the table-cloths were white and fresh. I squirmed in my chair, I couldn't seem to get comfortable- it was just different than something I had ever seen before. I looked up to see the boy tribute sitting across fro me, looking around the train cart as I was. I placed my hand in front of him. I might as well get to know the person who might kill me- I felt like I hadn't opened my mouth for ages. "My- my name's Lena...what's yours?"

I looked up to see the girl tribute talking to me. "My- my name's Lena, what's yours?" She said awkwardly. I stared at her, she looked familiar, but I didn't care. I stood up and walked away from her. I felt a singe of guilt, but I felt like I was already dead.

(Departure)
My parents stood there at the doorway. They had three minutes to say goodbye, it felt like three seconds. I held the lucky coin in my hand, hoping a wonderful event would happen to stop this. There was no lucky event. My father took my hand as Nick stood next to me, shaking like crazy. "Don't go. Don't go or i'll be mad when you come home." Nick said softly. "Sorry Nick, you won't have a chance to be mad at me cause' I'll be dead." I replied.

"Don't you dare talk like that!" My mother yelled.

"What's the point mom! God!" I kicked the lamp across from, making the peace keepers come in.

"Times up." The both said.

"Go to Hell...go to Hell!" Dad screamed at them. And they were gone. Just like that.

I just sat there. Did I do something wrong? I couldn't have... I probably did. I always did something wrong. I looked out of the window to see the Capitol's people yelling and screaming. It was like a colorful crowd of paint. Here we go.

I took a step off of the train. I was greeted with screaming citizens and colorful bursts of smiles. I started to become overwhelmed and backed away into the train's door. I felt a firm grip take my wrist.

"I'm sorry about earlier Lena...I wanted to apologize-I was a little...scared. Looks like you are too." Seth whispered softly. I nodded slightly.

"Stay close to me...your the only part of District 4 I have..." I smiled slightly. He smiled back as we walked next to each other, near the large palace we would stay in. It had begun. I stopped in the doorway as I heard the slight creak of avoxs that were shutting the gigantic steal doors. My eyes wandered around the place. A spiral stair case was at my left, while an oddly shaped table stood in front of me with a single bowl of flowers sitting in the center. Furry chairs were discarded around the room and a TV was running into the next room. Pure royalty.

"I don't think it's anything special." Seth said with a smirk.

"Right..." I answered back. Our mentor, Renez Capture stood in front of us with a firm grip on a clipboard. My eyes widened as he looked at us with an icy cold stare.

"Training starts soon, get a good night's rest. The Capitol will be expecting it!" Renez said standing firm. I closed my eyes slightly as I ran up the stairs to find a teal green bed waiting for me to fall in. Like the ocean. I flopped down. I was floating.

We had stepped of the train, and I could tell Lena was shaking. "Might as well apologize..." I thought to myself. I walked toward Lena. "I'm sorry about earlier Lena...I wanted to apologize-I was a little...scared." I watched her turn to me as colorful wigs and pale white skin floated in the distance. I had a glimpse of Lena, light skin and blonde hair with a curl at the bottom with dark brown eyes. We could actually be friends, anything to stay alive in the games.

"Stay close to me...your the only part of District 4 I have..." She said softly. Now I knew she was scared. It was a shock to hear that. I smiled slightly as we were ussured to the place where they would keep us for the rest of our fancy stay. To my left was a spiral stair case, and furry chairs lined the room as a light pink table that was oddly shaped sat in front of us, and a TV that was running in the next room. "I don't think it's anything special." I said with a smirk.

"Right..." I heard Lena reply with her eyes still fixed around the room.

"How can you say such a thing!" I heard our escort say behind me. Her name was Renenta Louise. I spun on my heels to see a plump and stout lady, with a bright bedazzled yellow top hat and green dyed skin staring at me with a concerned look. "The Capitol made this especially for you! Can't you see how it represents District 4?" She said, folding her arms.

"Well they're missing one thing." I answered to her gesture.

"And what's that?" She replied, burrowing her eyebrows.

"The poor souls without any food or shealter." I said. I watched her mouth gape open as she walked away, making sure to stomp her heels. Then our mentor, Renez Capture stood in front of us. His hair was pulled back into a small low ponytail, and he held firmly onto his clipboard.

"Training starts soon, better gty a good night's rest! The Capitol will be expecting it!" He exclaimed. Lena had already vanished into her room, and I stood there. Just listening to the cheers of the citizens.

"Ouch!" I exclaimed as my stylist, Gerged, pulled the brush through my tangled hair.

"Sit still, or it won't hurt!" He answered. I watched the other members of my team wax my legs and my eyebrows. And God, did it hurt. My fingernails were painted a light blue. I guess it represented District 4. They were always trying to involve your District... The team had already gotten rid of the dead skin that was covering me, and made me look so delicate I could break.

"Gerged, I look like a china doll. Easy to break in training." I looked at Gerged, he was- well, plump. His eye shadow rose all the way up to his brows and his skin was dyed a light green. His hair was styled in a thick curl that covered his forehead, and tatoos covered his body.

"Exactly. So they won't expect you to kill them. Right?" He replied with a grin. I looked at myself in the mirror and saw a whole new me. My hair wasn't tangled and all of the imperfections were gone. Just like a china doll. I gripped my chair and turned my gaze towards Seth. He looked new also. His hair was combed perfectly and he was clean as can be. But he still had that cloudy grey still in his eyes. I watched him glance towards me with a slight grin as he mouthed the words, "Are you alright?" I nodded slightly.

Though I knew I was breaking.

(OOC Note: I messaged Seth, and he tells me what he's going to say in the posts so I can put it in.)

It wasn't as bad as I expected, I mean the waxing hurt an all but I was more concerned about Lena. She looked like she was going to have a seizure. Gerged, our fat stylist had us lined up with the rest of the tributes. Couldn't wait to put on our costume. "What are we this year Gerged? A fishing net?" I laughed.

"Of course not." He replied. He grapped two silk and blue sparkling outfits, mine was a suit encrested with shells and I had a prop of a trident, and a sea weed wreath that would circle my head. "I wanted to capture the waves. Like it?" Gerged said with a smile.

"Yeah..." It was a bit cheesy, but at least it wasn't a fishing net. He pulled Lena's out. The dress flowed down to become ripples and the bottom flowed onto the floor. It was strapless but still encrested with sea shells. She had a matching wreath.

"Go on and change!" Gerged exclaimed.
