She rarely wears trousers and never jeans finding them to be a bit restrictive.
Keepsakes: A ratty old stuffed bear that she's had since she was two. His name is Lucky and Astrid would be bereft without him.
History:
Astridâs entrance into the world was well timed and much planned out just as her older brotherâs had been. With her arrival she made her family complete and for a few years after that quite happy at least from her perspective. Of course Astrid had always been off in her own world, full of imagination and pretend. She adored her brother Alasdair and would follow him around and occasionally play with other children but she always made her way back to her imaginary friends. Something which began to concern her parents as she got older.
Theyâd always assumed sheâd outgrow her childishness but it seemed as she grew older it only became more pronounced and she only became more peculiar. It was shaming for Regina and Gregory Crane, her parents, who had only envisioned a perfect life for their perfect family. Now they were being told that might never happen by doctors who charged them exorbitantly.
To Astrid life seemed just fine to her and besides the fact that she never got to wear what she wanted to and never go to touch her massive doll collection she was quite happy. Of course in the meantime the rest of the family was falling apart. Her father sank into a deep depression which he would never come out of, her mother took to drinking and completely zoned out while her older brother closed himself off from the rest of the world.
It was when she was nearly twelve that things changed in her life forever. After coming home from a trip that she took with her mother and brother, Astridâs father committed suicide in front of Alasdair. Astrid was frightened and confused and there was no one left to comfort her or ease her though what was happening. Regina had checked out emotionally and Alasdairâs psyche had been scarred forever. Bereft, Astrid slipped further into her childlike delusions.
It was soon after the funeral that the siblings were sent to the academy where Astrid has been quite happy. She does her best not to dwell or think about what happened not only for her sake but for her traumatized brotherâs sake as well.
Other: Astrid's brother, Alisdair is quite protective of her. If you mess with Astrid you mess with him and he's not nearly as kind or forgiving as Astrid is.
