Brooklyn pulled up a few more carrots watching as the girls of the village flocked to the main gates. "The Prince is coming!" A few of them explained giggling, they were all dressed in their finest clothing, the Prince wasn't yet wed, or engaged to anyone, Brooklyn didn't understand why anyone would want to be engaged or married to him, his Father was a cruel man and a Tyrant, she assumed he was as well.

Brooklyn rolled her eyes as even her own sister rushed out with one of her best friends to great the Prince. Madeline was a year Brooklyn's elder and was by no means ugly, she was probably one of the more beautiful girls in the village that was quickly turning into a town. "Brook come, you must meet the Prince."

"I have chores Madeline, and so do you." Brooklyn replied with raised eyebrows, her sister simply shook her head before continuing down the road. Brooklyn stood up brushing the dirt from her light blue dress before walking back into the house where her younger siblings were playing a game of knights and Princesses which caused Brooklyn to smile.

When she came back out, the Prince was surrounded by girls swooning, who followed him like lost puppies as he made his way down the street, Brooklyn curtsied lowering her eyes to the ground when he came past her, she lifted her eyes up for a moment to get a good look at him, but there was no way she would throw herself at him like the others were doing, she found no need to.

The Royal Family was much unbothered by their son's appearance in villages and such, as he just seemed like a wandering bachelor. Peter knew his father was much unliked by most of the people, as he was a Tyrant and such as the rumors go. He sighed as they pulled up to the small village, and he'd just gotten out when girls were throwing themselves at him.

He scoffed, and his guards managed to give him some breathing room at least, the hoard of females strong. He was only in the village because he simply had nothing better to do, as his father was too busy to even look at him. So, he went to the center of the town, where most of the village was, and he saw her, standing there, averting her eyes as he looked towards her. A smirk grew on his face, and he cleared his throat.

"Village, I have come to visit you today to simply visit and perhaps, find a suitable maiden to be my bride." He had to wait at least 5 minutes just for the girls to calm down. "Adding that, I am also here to speak credentials with your village governor." He smiled towards the older man in a suit of sorts, and they disappeared into a house, where he lived.

About an hour or so later, the Prince was dressed in commoner clothes, and the guards and horses and things all left, and the Prince was walking down the street, when he saw her again. "Hi. Um, can you tell me where I can find some bread or something to eat?"

"Hi. Um, can you tell me where I can find some bread or something to eat?"

Brooklyn's eyes met his when he spoke to her, she smiled lightly, she wouldn't have been able to recognize him as the Prince since she hadn't got an overly good look at him earlier and now he was dressed in simple clothes. "If you keep going down the main street there is a bakery, a few places to eat as well, they aren't hard to find, their just among the shops."

Brooklyn smiled slightly when her sister came over Madeline curtsied, of course she recognized him, he could have worn the worst clothes in the world and she would have still been able to identify him. "Your Highness, I see you've finally met my sister."
Brooklyn's cheeks turned rather red when she heard Madeline say 'You're highness' as she didn't know that was who she was speaking to, she was a little embarrassed that she couldn't recognize the Crown Prince, she curtsied slightly, she was supposed to, it was custom.

"She didn't want to greet you this morning, Brooklyn, doesn't like large crowds, they bring attention and she prefers to avoid that."

"Maddie, I don't think he wants to know that." Madeline shrugged causing Brooklyn to roll her eyes slightly, her sister was never this flirty with anyone. "Mother wanted me to tell you its time for Dinner." Madeline curtsied again before walking away. "Um...The bakery and places you can eat are just in town square, as I said if you follow the main path, they are fairly hard to miss Your Highness." Brooklyn gently smiled at him before curtsying and turning to follow after her sister.

"Shh! Shh!" He looked between them. "Perhaps royalty doesn't always want to be known." He frowned, shaking his head as he followed their directions. "Thank you, regardless." He sighed, and followed her directions.

He had found bread and wine to feast on, of course. But, their little mishap had the whole village in an uproar that the Prince had never left at all, and he was forced to be in his royal attire, shining in the sun.

He groaned the next morning as he awoke in the royal quarters some guards had made up upon their return. He snuck off to take a walk through a trail that seemed to lead to someone's home.

Brooklyn hummed a soft tune as she moved through the trees with ease, she knew the forest better than most in the town, she spent most of her time there, it got her away from the town, away from the crowds, which seemed to be everywhere now, girls searching for the Prince in every place they could think of, she found it all quite ridiculous. He would never chose a girl that didn't come from a titled family with a title herself, nor would his parents allow a villager to become the next Queen. She didn't understand why most of the girls were wasting their time. The Governors daughter was truly the only real potential match in their Village for the Prince, and she was a rather cruel girl, stuck up and spoiled.

She knelt down by the brook scooping some water into her hands to take a drink, she stood brushing the dirt from her dress as it was her finest dress, something her Mother had made her wear simply because the Prince was there, and her Mother would have her killed if she came back with the thing filthy.

She came back to one of the paths, this particular one leading to the old Fae village, where the Magic folk had lived, paying little to no attention to what she was actually doing, jumping back when she walked into something...More like someone. Brooklyn looked up at who she had run into. "Your Highness!" Brooklyn's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, she always seemed to manage to get herself into awkward situations, but this was the new number one at the top of the list. "I'm very sorry, I didn't see you, and I wasn't really paying attention...No one comes out here, they are scared of the curse the Fae put on the woods before the King destroyed them...They call this the blood wood now, people come in and never come out." Brooklyn clasped her hands tightly together, she was talking quite a bit, something she did when she was nervous. "No one ever comes on this path in particular, it leads to the old village, well, the village ruins that is..."

She looked around to see if she could see any guards before looking back at him. "I thought you would of had guards with you...Is it safe for you to be out alone?" Brooklyn didn't really know why she cared, but she figured it wouldn't be good for the realm if the heir to the throne was killed in the middle of the woods.

"Milady, you're quite alright." He had a polite smirk on his face. "I know of the old wives' tales of this path. Perhaps, you're an adventurous girl? Nonsense, I am a grown man." He took her hand politely, and they'd walked only halfway down when there was a tree heard falling.

"Hmm.. there's definitely some adventure here, isn't there?" He let go of her, to wield his sword, as an ogre appeared, snorting and huffing as he crunched the tree with his horrible crooked teeth. "Blasphemy.." Peter sighed, and kept the girl behind him, as the ogre just happened to turn at the sound of a cracking branch she must've stepped on.

"Run!" Peter pushed the girl back further, as the ogre moaned and huffed as he got up speed. Peter managed to slice the beast's skin, causing him to fall back, and as they ran, the ogre only seemed to be getting faster. "Watch out!" He tackled Brooke to the side as the ogre heaved himself towards where she just was, and barreled into a tree, causing several to crash. Peter, quickly thinking, looked around. "Lure him that way! I won't let him hurt you!" He ran behind the ogre, and managed to climb the tree, jumping from a tall branch as the ogre raced towards the girl.

In a second, he leaped, and using the gravity slung his sword into the ogre, causing it to fall on his front, and Peter left on his back, his knuckles white with the grip on his sword. "Are you alright?" He asked, lost of breath, and hopped down, frowning at his bloodied sword. "My name's Peter. I can't seem to remember yours, forgive me." He caught his breath, and ran a hand through his messed up hair.

Brooklyn did as she was told leading the ogre in the direction Peter had told her to, she jumped slightly when the ogre fell panting to catch her breath. She nodded when he asked if she was okay. "Fine..." Brooklyn smiled slightly when he admitted to not knowing her name. "Its Brooklyn, Your Highness." she replied softly, he had told her his name was Peter, but she felt she shouldn't call the Prince by his name, it was improper.

Brooklyn picked up the skirt of her dress moving around the beast over to where Peter now was. "I didn't know there were any left, I heard tales about them as a child from my older brothers, but I always thought they were just trying to scare me." Brooklyn sighed slightly. "Thank you."

Brooklyn looked down at the beast for a moment, she honestly couldn't believe her eyes. "Its a horrible looking thing." She commented Looking at Peter again laughing a little bit.

"That it is, m'lady." He smiled, and nodded. "Please, call me Peter. Don't make me order you." Peter went to her side. "But you are much greater in beauty than this beast. Will you do me the honors of escorting me back to the village?" He charming smirked, and laughed a tad.

They walked for a long while. "So tell me, what do you know of the magic in our kingdom?" He asked simply.

"Peter it is then." Brooklyn smiled slightly nodding, she gently linked her arm in the crook of his elbow when he offered it to her.

"Enough...I know that the Magic folk, or the Fae as they called themselves worked mostly on healing properties, trying to heal the sick and the wounded. They were normal enough, looking exactly like you and I, the only difference would be, they had Magic in their blood, the humans didn't. I know the King banned Magic, and soon after that they all disappeared, rumor has it the King destroyed them." Brooklyn replied slightly looking at the ground. "I shouldn't speak ill of my King though."

Brooklyn looked over at Peter with a small smile. "You know, as soon as we step foot in that village you are going to be swarmed by girls. They all know you are looking for a wife, and they all know whom ever that may be will be the next Queen. Be careful who you give your heart to Peter, It seems to me you have a good one, and not many do anymore."

"I see that you and I have similar intentions then." He smirked, and slowed their walking. "I know very well that the village's eligible bachelorette's will swarm me as soon as I step foot in the village outskirts. So, do pardon my bluntness, but.." He smiled.

"Lady Brooklyn, you are now the lucky bachelorette that I have hand-picked from all of the realms, and yada yada." Peter looked at her apologetically. "I'm sure, with your goodness, that you wish no part of it, but trust me, you are not required any form of public affections or any such nature. I just need you to stand and look like a Princess."

"Would you be so kind?" He said more in a hushed tone, as the were coming on the end of the path, and already, there were maidens that caught his figure.

Brooklyn looked at him for a moment rather shocked. "Peter, I'm not Princess...Just a village girl, I don't know the first thing about it." She sighed looking him in the eyes, she could hear the girls whispering and giggling already.

"But...I think I can try. I will try, I will try my best." Brooklyn took in a deep breath as they continued their walk, she laughed a little bit at something Peter had said to her, and whispered something back to him. "Their all watching us...." Her grip on his arm tightened, she hated being in the spotlight, it made her nervous, and she gave Peter a nervous smile.

She took another few breaths giving him another smile, she hoped she looked decent enough, she was so nervous, she hoped it wasn't showing.

"Just let me do the talking, and will be well, Princess." He smiled, and had his hand atop hers on his arm. The guards escorted them to the plaza, where he'd made the announcement of Brooklyn as his chosen bride.

They were soon in a horse-drawn carriage, off to the castle, where the King was, and where Peter lived and grown up. "Welcome to your current home, m'lady." He smiled, and kissed her hand.

"The maids will deal with your wardrobe, as I with pretty much everything else. Such as, these are your sleeping quarters." He opened the door, and let her enter, but not himself. "It's considered unroyal for a groom to be in his bride's sleeping quarters. Forgive me." He nodded slightly, and let her take in the room.

Brooklyn looked around for a minute before looking back at Peter. "It's lovely." She stiffened when the maids came into the room curtsying at Peter who was still outside the door. "The King and Queen have requested your Presence Lady Brooklyn. The Prince will meet you there." Brooklyn nodded at them looking at Peter, she nodded at him as well before watching him disappear.

It was all a bit of a blur, but before Brooklyn could blink she was in a very beautiful and expensive looking dress The corset made her squirm, it was very tight, tighter than she had ever had a corset before, but before it wasn't necessary for her to wear one. One of the many maids opened the door where a adviser stood to bring her to the throne room.

"Keep your head up, your shoulders back, Milady, do not look so frightened." He whispered to her as they walked, Brooklyn looked at him, it was like he had done this before, he was old enough. "Have you done this before?" Brooklyn asked softly and the man nodded slightly. "Not with the Crown Prince, but with his Father's wife, the Queen. She was titled however, raised for it, but she looked just as frightened as you do." Brooklyn did as she was told looking forward.

The Large doors to the throne room opened, the room was fairly crowded with what Brooklyn assumed were advisers, but Brooklyn's eyes searched for Peter, the only person she knew in the mess of people, she eventually found him, standing at the side of the Kings throne. Brooklyn looked at him then looked to the Queen, he looked almost exactly like his Mother.

Brooklyn stopped a little ways from the thrones curtsying slightly. The Queen stood up walking down the few steps going over to Brooklyn. "Don't look so frightened." The Queen smiled softly at her. "What is your name?"

"Brooklyn...Your Majesty..." Brooklyn replied with a shaky voice but the Queen smiled kindly at her. "This all must be a lot for you, but its very important you adjust to your new life here. Peter and you will be wed fairly soon. You will be trained how to rule a kingdom, how to be a good Queen, how to be a good wife." Brooklyn nodded slightly, her hands were gripping the fabric of her dress tightly, her eyes met Peters again when the Queen stepped out of her view. "Peter." The Queen gestured to Brooklyn. "Show her around the castle, we wouldn't want her to get lost on a day to day basis."

Brooklyn Curtsied again before taking Peter's arm following him out of the room, she didn't say a word for quite a while before she looked at him. "You grew up here. Its nice." Brooklyn commented. "Your mother seems lovely, your Father seemed to just stare at me though..." Brooklyn sighed a little bit looking forward again, she had always wanted to marry for love, and she hoped that it would work out that way, she looked back at Peter. "Am I aloud to grow to love you Peter? I think I could easily fall in love with you, you are a good person, but, am I aloud to? Or am I just here for show and to produce an heir for you?" Brooklyn knew that was how it worked with nobles and Royals alike, Wives were simply there to produce an heir to the lands and title, or in her case the throne.

"I'm here."
Brooklyn called hearing Peter's voice, she was shivering, and her lips were tinted blue, the Kings men had clearly not been kind to her, her arms were bruised and the dress she had been wearing town, a cut went across her cheek from where one of them stuck her. "Peter?"

Brooklyn moved slowly she had a candle in her hand, she could hear him, but couldn't see him, couldn't see much. She felt her way down the wall, her hand brushing someone else's, she lifted the light a look of relief washing over her face when she saw Peter staring back, she put the candle gently on the ground wrapping her arms around his neck. "Peter! The guards said that because I didn't have a title you hadn't grown to love me and never would, and the King tired of our plan, I didn't know what they were talking about, but when I spoke they just struck me and kept on doing it every time I tried to speak, and even after that..." Brooklyn let out a small cry warm tears rolled down her cheeks but she was still shivering, she wasn't sure if it was from the cold, or if she was going into shock from the beating she had taken from the guards.

"I didn't think you would come for me...I thought you would leave me here, forget about me...I thought you would just leave me here." Brooklyn took in a shaky breath.

"I can walk, can we please go home? I just want to go home." Brooklyn wasn't sure when she first started calling the castle home, but she had grown to like it there until the guards had taken her. Brooklyn put a hand on his cheek gently, she leaned up gently pressing a kiss to his lips. "This should all work out." she muttered slightly, her body pressed against his.

It seemed to take them forever to get out, but when they did the men that had come with Peter moved to them. "Princess." One of them exclaimed taking her from Peter, Brooklyn looked away from Peter, she must have looked absolutely terrible. "Who did this to you?" Brooklyn took in a small breath, it hurt to breath, it hurt to move. "The King...Its treason... Against his own kingdom." Brooklyn looked back at Peter. "I've learned enough to know that. To know its Treason, to know you can take the throne from him for it."

Brooklyn smiled slightly at Peter's bewilderment, she nodded slightly towards the man who stood up, before looking back at Peter, shifting slightly when he commented on how beaten she was. "I'm alright, sore. You're Father tricked them into thinking they wouldn't be punished, into thinking I didn't mean anything to you..." Brooklyn almost felt bad for those men, Peter had the means to forcefully take the throne from his Father, and she was sure Peter would not let them off so easily.

"As far as I know your Mother wasn't involved, you will have to protect her. When people find out what your Father has done, they will ask for your Mothers head as well, or threaten her in anyway they can." Brooklyn went to go stand by Peter but fut a hand on the left side of her rib cage sitting back down, the man came over. "May I?" Brooklyn nodded slightly flinching when he pressed on her ribs. "It looks like you have a few Broken ribs Milady. They should heal with time, but until then...You could be in quite a lot of pain."

Brooklyn saw Peters expression turn worried and smiled reassuringly at him reaching out her hand taking his when he came over. "Don't look so frightened." Brooklyn smiled at him. "I remember you told me that once, not to look so frightened."

Peter frowned. "Well, now that we've rescued the maiden, we've got to scope out the King's castle." He frowned. "I shall go." He looked at Brooklyn, and managed a tired, weak smile. "All of you men must stay here and guard her. Do not leave this house." He ordered, and went to the door, leaving only after a soft glance towards her.

Once he was some distance away, he'd morphed into a gorgeous bird, sailing through the sky, when he'd finally made it to the castle that once homed him and his fiancé. He shifted back to his human form, hiding in some brush as he saw a magical creature in a cage, and realized who it was. He couldn't save her, as much as he'd wanted to.

But then, he heard someone coming, and morphed into a fox, hiding in the brush. He slowly came out after she'd passed, and froze when she saw him.

Brooklyn stood up watching Peter from the window for a moment, she looked down at her dress and frowned slightly, she wasn't exactly in a state that would be appropriate to be seen in, but she didn't think it was a good idea for Peter to go alone.

She followed the path she had seen him go down, careful not to be seen by anyone, she stopped looking around for a moment furrowing her eyebrows she took another step a twig snapping under her foot which made her jump back. When she looked back up a fox stood in front of her but still no Peter. "Peter?" She whispered softly but loud enough that he would have been able to hear her if he was near by.

She moved around the Bushes slightly panicked, turning to see the fox had followed her, she ran a hand through her hair in a more nervous and anxious manner than frustrated, he could have been found, anything could have happened. "Why are you following me?" She turned to the fox after walking a little ways to find it was right behind her again.

The fox's ears twitched, and he tilted his head as he sat where he was. He made a noise, and turned back into the Prince. "Agh.. it's been forever since I've had to do that. But, that's beside the point. What in the world are you doing out here, Brooklyn?" He narrowed his eyes, and you could almost see that dainty little fox in them.

Brooklyn looked at Peter for a moment, shaking her head for a minute trying to wrap her mind around it. "Magic?" Brooklyn tilted her head slightly. "I didn't think you should be alone, I wasn't expecting to find the fox version of you though." She held her hands together, she wondered if she should tell him it was her who brought his eyesight back, she wasn't able to shift as he was, but she was still gifted in other things.

"As long as the King doesn't know you came for me, you should be able to just walk through the front door, you are the Prince." Brooklyn commented. "I could come in with those men who helped you find me, when you announce what your Father has done, you can state your claim on the throne...I won't come in until then. Take one of the men with you, say he is a friend and you were hunting with him, something like that, he can come out and tell me when its safe for me to enter with the others." Brooklyn looked at Peter, she wondered if he expected her to freak out.

"Peter, it was me. I brought your sight back."
