Foster a raven and it will peck out your eyes.
Alden appears to be something of a dichotomy, a man perhaps at war with himself. At times lazy, at times laser-focused, his erratic behavior can sometimes throw off those around him. Not to be mistaken for a flake, he is rather a man guided by an internal compass that he is not always in tune with. He is driven by a desire that he doesn't quite fully comprehend - it's not quite money, not quite influence or power and certainly not fame. More, a finely-balanced mixture of these things that would equal more than the sum of its parts. He is proud, often overly so, of his association to Raven Corp. and its echelons of power leading ultimately to Garian himself. However, he would be quite happy to usurp him and assume control of the conglomerate, perhaps even found a rival. Not fully Machiavellian then, but with that constant, remote itch to be better than everyone else.
In dealings with other people, he can be charming, blunt or whatever he feels is necessary at the time. When uninterested, he remains aloof and distant and this triggers his sporadic laziness. He is most at home with other Half-bloods, treats mundanes as any other, and tries to contain his distaste for the few Pure-bloods he encounters. They are, after all, quantifiably superior.
Alden owns a customized lightweight HEV that he likes to wear only when circumstances dictate. He has chosen to forego any significant protection or physical assists for a package that can be worn, and concealed, beneath his normal attire. The suit has custom leg anchors that allow his normal shoes to form the appropriate environmental seal. He carries with him at all times a pair of foldaway special-issue Raven Corp. glasses that give him access to HUD, AI, sensor and comms when he cannot, or chooses not to, Tech-shape to larger systems. When wearing the HEV he carries with him a pistol-sized railgun.
Alden has no ship of his own - where, and when, necessary he travels on one of the many ships of the Raven Corp. fleet. If required, and without abusing the privilege, he has permission to borrow an uncrewed Raven Corp. ship for his own ends(Fighter or Transport), which he pilots it in tandem with a Ship's Cat. He is not above utilizing an unregistered ship, if that suits his goals.
AbilitiesAlden possesses an above-average, yet not quite spectacular, Tech-shaping ability - although he is young and still learning to develop his manipulations of crystal matrix. He cannot yet control the larger starships - freighters and frigates are beyond him, for example. He is, however, able to perform incredibly granular and detailed manipulations of machines and computers, beyond Ravenwing even many times his age. He wields a rapier rather than a claymore, so to speak.
Echoes of the Past: Alden possesses the eidetic memory typical of his house, although his manifestation has a particular twist. Not only are his sensory and cognitive functions subject to uncontrolled synesthesia, but his combination of neurological abilities have a tendency to dangle tendrils into the past. Certain sensory stimulation - be it visual, olfactory, tactile, or whatever - can send his mind into the past to retrieve a related memory, or an echo of a memory. This ability is a source of some frustration to Alden; he realizes how potentially useful it could be and yet he is unable, yet, to control it to any advantageous degree. Not only that, but sometimes the sensory feedback can be overwhelming, both physically and mentally. Needless to say, he is expending every effort to master the onset, detail and penetration into the past of this power.
Alden was born into a comfortable life on one of the larger and more sophisticated inner planets of the Kizaran system. Being a Ravenwing, he was brought into the Raven Corp. fold as soon as he was of appropriate age and in their warm embrace he has remained since. He suffered no major injustices as a child, didn't have abusive parents, and the only struggle was with some of the more lucid manifestations of his neurological powers during his formative years.
His presence on the "Grudge Bearer" is a touch surprising, although entirely above board and authorized. Rumors that Alden is part of a Raven Corp. "corporate intelligence" unit are unconfirmed and categorically side-stepped.
