In this world magic exists but is considered by most to be taboo. Since not everyone is blessed with the ability to tap into the world's magic, many people believe it is evil. Sadly many who are blessed, choose to ignore it entirely while others abuse the gift. The leaders that used to rule over great kingdoms were thrown down and cites have become independent. Unstable laws lead to confusion and self sufficient, isolated cities. Money and power became the rules of the land.
In the midst of all this a group, intent on bringing the world together, was born. This group called themselves The New Dawn, signifying the great, new change they were to bring to the world. Their main means of bringing about their goal was through power and fear. This group grew swiftly in numbers. Many joining solely to gain power, while others had true beliefs in the ways of the New Dawn. New Dawn influence swept over the lands and their power became well known and well feared. It didn't' take long before a secret group was formed to fight against the New Dawn. This group called their selves the Sun Defenders, to signify that they meant to protect the good name of the rising sun of change. This group survived only through secrecy due to to drastic difference in numbers compared to New Dawn. None the less they fight to bring peace to the world and stop the fearful plans of the New Dawn.
However there exists a mysterious box simply known as the Box of Blin. This box is said to contain very powerful magic. As a result it is sought for diligently for the possession of such a powerful tool would make things much easier for anyone.
THE SUN DEFENDERS
The Sun Defenders fight the New Dawn influence. They believe that the Box of Blin should be kept out of New Dawn's hands and that the world, though flawed, doesn't deserve New Dawn's wrath. The Sun Defenders have only a fraction of the numbers New Dawn has, but the Sun Defenders are more picky then New Dawn is on who they let in. If they weren't picky and careful they would be easily crushed by New Dawn's numbers. Thus they make their resistance as secret as possible.

They will do anything to reach their goal including but not limited to destroying cities and taking prisoners. The group makes slaves of captured civilians. The New Dawn usually kills those who oppose them but on occasion they will take prisoners either forcing them to do work for them or just as leverage against the Sun Defenders. New Dawn believes the world should be perfect and the only way to do so is though mass fear. They have intentions to group everyone under one rule and force everyone to do what they think at the moment is right. People join New Dawn for power, wealth, or a belief the world needs to be ruled with an iron fist. New Dawn doesn't think what they are doing is bad they justify their doings saying it is for the good of the world.
New Dawn's Leader is known as the Great King.

School Masters (experienced members of middle rank or higher)
~masters are assigned to one to three students at a time. They are responsible for teaching them how to use their powers. Most masters will be given students that are most similar to their own powers. Though masters are also allowed to pick students who peak their interest, for whatever reason.
Council Members (experienced members of high rank, knowledge, and or intelligence)
~Members of the council are part of all the major decisions behind the Sun Defender's actions. As a group they decide what the best course of action is. They give orders to others who break it up and assign mission to individuals and or groups.
Search Squad Members (middle to high ranked)
~These members move in small units to gather information on the Box of Blin and New Dawn's progress in the endeavor. Best known for stealth and information gathering, the are often given missions as spies.

King's Adviser (Xiu only)
~These members are the right hand men/women to the Great King. The Great King himself is the only one that holds authority over them. The Great King has to choose them, for whatever reason. All Xiu are given a mark on their bodies to symbolize their rank. It is common, however, for a Xiu to call himself a Zito and take up a normal job as well.
Seeker (Cano and Feni)
~A Cano with the job of Seeker seekes out the box of Blin. As they rule over a large group of Feni, they also take on the role of seeker.
Expos (Zito)
~Usually only Zito are given the job of Expo, as it is a job best done alone. They are spies, hunters of the Sun Defenders. Most Zito with this job don't have direct subordinates, but any with the title of Zito can pull rank on Cano and Feni to fit their needs.
Tener (Cano and Zito)
~A tener is a student trainer. They spend most their time at Maligna testing noew recruits. They are also the ones who give them their starting rank. A Cano in this position has duties elsewhere too, but a Zito ca choose to wherather or not they have other duties.

Maye gets up and finds some wound cleaning supplies on the Yuta's bed side table from patching up Hailom's earlier wounds. "You've been with him for four years!" Maye stummbles nearly dropping the supplies she was holding. She could barely stand a day training with Yuta but four years would be torture, she would rather die, so that's why Hailom had built up those walls of anger and hate. "But you have powers, there has to be some way for you to escape Yuta." Maye kneels down next to him again and gentley dabs his neck with a wet cloth cleaning of the drying blood.

Before Arethra could continue questioning the obviously nervous student she heard the verbal spar between Keki and Cliff, her eyes flickered up and she watched intently as they insulted eachother. As Zeki spoke she wrote down notes, 'quick witted. Disrespectful. Fast-paced. Intriguing' she watched Cliff as he started to move toward him and sensed the movement of Zeki throwing the pencil, at Cliff's insult about her 'nerd club,' she snarled, "Master Cliff, back down," she ordered, control filled her voice and her eyes showed her seething rage.
Turning back to Sayke she calmed herself down and the stoic expression returned, "You focus on your class work, that is a good trait," she murmured in her whispering voice as she took a note next to his name, 'focused.' her gaze flickered to him once more, "You're Ice ability, could you show me the level of skill?" she asked, pulling out a vial of water from her cloak she placed it on his desk, she knew it was only a trivial piece for a powerful Ice magician, "Do as you wish," she said command permeating from her voice as she watched intently.

Sayke glanced at the arguing pair but quickly turned his attention back to the female master. Though she had turned to Cliff, ordering him to back down. She held an air of control and her voice was level, despite the rage in her eyes. Sayke found himself staring at her, blush deepening. She looked beautiful. Sayke snapped out of it with a violent shake of his head. I shouldn't have such thoughts. He scolded himself mentally looking back down at his paper, until Arethra turned back towards him. Her compliment made his blush deepen but he said nothing. Sayke gave a small nod and reached for the vial of water she had set on the desk. But in his nervousness, accidentally, knocked the vial over. Sayke scrambled to catch ti before it fell, but he only knocked it and his school work to the floor. The vial shattered and,like a sponge, his hard work sucked in the water. His whole face turned red and he looked upset, embarrassed and ashamed. After a moment, not looking at Aretra, he set his jaw and decided to try and make the best of the horrible situation. Sliding from his chair he knelt before the wet papers and broken glass. Looking only at the mess in front of him he raised his hand and began to work. The water obeyed his will, rising from the paper, leaving it dry, and floating above in a nice sphere. There may not have been much water but that was probably for the better. He was good with his magic, but the less he had to deal with the better he was. He didn't have much experience with large amounts. Focusing solely on the water he made the water change into a variety of shapes before he extended it like a tube and added detail. When he was satisfied the water pencil became ice and landed neatly on his desk. He wanted to look up and see Arethra's reaction but was still too nervous to do so. Instead he began to pick up his papers and the broken glass, still blushing slightly.

Cliff listens to Arethra, she was more powerful than him at least when it came to magic so he respected her for her skills. Before he moves on he decides to make a final comment, "You should get better fitting glasses so they don't slide off your nose." Cliff wanders away from Zeki still a bit pissed but he knew this arguement was not going to end that simpley, he'd be suprised if Zeki backed down. He hears glass break and watches Sayke control the water, it was a cool trick but what good was making a water pencil? Arethra was probably going to want him too, but it doesn't look like Sayke could even talk to Arethra he was so nervous.

Hailom only continued to look at the floor, part of him wishing he could just go back to hating everything. Then things wouldn't be so hard and confusing to deal with. He gave a discreet nod to her shocked response, though she may not even notice. As she spoke again he clenched his fists tighter and responded in a sad, but frustrated, voice. "The only way for me to escape Yuta is to escape New Dawn." He had lost count of how many times he had tried and failed to flee, thought he hadn't even tried for the last year. "So long as I remain here I will be nothing but Yuta's pet. Even with my powers." These words came out harder, almost as though he spat them. The truth to the words made Hailom frustrated. He wasn't like most those brought here. As the memories rose to his mind his vengeful aura spiked and he punched the stone floor with his bare fist. His words wouldn't seem to make sense, because almost all prisoners with powers were given the option to train and become part of the ranks of New Dawn. Only a few exception were made, aside for Sun Defender captures who where never given such opportunity.

Zeki smirked, it amused him that Cliff was being told to back off by another master. But his attempt to get the last word made his chuckle lightly. "I guess that's the best you can do." He said in his calm, mocking tone. Then at the sound of glass breaking his steel eyes, and almost everyone elses, shot to Sayke. The poor boy was so nervous that it was comical, but Zeki was actually a bit impressed that he was still able to control the water. He smiled softly and took his seat. His focus no longer on Cliff. He liked watching what others could do for many reasons. In spite of his bold, generally un-respectful, attitude he actually enjoyed aiding his fellows where he could.

Maye looked dissappointedly at Hailom, to her he was just being pessimistic. She saw the spike in his aura which was slowly reverting back to that horrible red, it was better for him though, the hate wall would protect him from Yuta. "You've already told me that escape isn't going to happen. We could do it, I realy believe we can. I've never tried before because I've never had the chance, you've probably failed before but now you have me." Maye says with optimissm. She wanted to help him and Yuta was making her realize how sick and twisted this organization is. "We talked about this earlier, and I was completely serious then. We can totally escape." She says wrappng a bandage around his neck careful to not choke him.

Hailom had lost himself, temporarily, in his memories and vengeful thoughts. He was so wrapped up in the mental images and flashes of past that he didn't even hear her speak. "I'll kill you Father." He said in a cold, deadly serious tone. His aura spiking violently as he imagined his revenge. Then Maye touched him, wrapping the bandage around his injured neck. He snapped and somewhere between is imagination and reality he whipped his threatening red eyes to Maye, grabbing her arm. For a brief moment he looked out for blood. Then he realized what he was doing and instantly let go of Maye's arm, dropping his, suddenly, dull eyes back to the stone. "Sorry." He muttered tonelessly. He wasn't sure what she had actually heard or seen, but he hadn't meant to get so caught up in the vengeful emotion that he would lose himself, even for a moment.

Meiro trudged down the halls with a sour look on his face. He didn't want to go to his stupid math class. "Stupid Grandpa." He muttered kicking a wad of paper. It flew though the air before smacking a student in the side of the head. Meiro grinned as the startled student looked up at him, the assaulted kid must have recognized who Meiro was for his swiftly turned away ad hurried down the hall. He was a small kid but those who knew him, knew not to antagonize him.
A few yards down the hall Meiro pulled himself up onto the ledge of the nearest window. He stared out at the blue sky and puffy clouds. He would much rather be outside but somehow grandpa had somehow gotten him to promise to attend his classes today. Though he wasn't getting a good start, since the second class was more than half over now and he was just getting started. There wasn't really anything for him to do, they always made him bored and irritable.
After a few more minutes Meiro slid from the window and continued sourly to the math room. Reaching the door he slid inside, unnoticed, since the whole class, teacher included, seemed distracted by a student and a couple of masters. He slumped in the closest seat and looked towards the commotion with his fierce silver eyes.

Maye's arm froze when Hailom grabbed it she was sure she had accidentally hurt him but the look on his face said otherwise. When he releases her hand and mutters looking back at the floor again she lowers her arm slowly quizzically looking at him. That was a strange change in his behaviour his aura was mellow again but there were slight ripples in it as reminants of the sudden flare up. "Are you okay?" She asks worried remembering she had never actually asked him that before and now with the sudden outburst it was probably a good time to ask him how he felt.

"I'm sorry." Hailom repeated quietly, not looking up at her. He stared at the stone floor for a long moment before he finally found his voice and spoke up. "I just got caught up in the past." His tone was hollow and he still didn't answer her question. He didn't feel alright, in any sense of the word, but he didn't know how to explain his feelings in words. But finally he looked up at Maye's worried face and for the first time, was sure her worry wasn't an act. However there was a long ways to go before he would truly trust her.

Arethra was very impressed by Saykes skill it was a hard ability to manipulate water out of something and turn it into an ice sculpture. Picking up the pencil she held gingerly in fingers, oblivious to the icey sensation going through her hands. She rotated the pencil, firmed her grasp, impressed further when it didn't warp or snap. She smiled a little and she put the pencil back on Saykes desk, "Good work," she complimented before her eyes flickered to Cliff, "I want them," her eyes then wandered to Zeki, "Both, if you have no objections," she said in a serious tone. She was quite certain Cliff wouldn't want to instruct Zeki but she was not so sure about Sayke, he may not see the worth in Sayke or he possibly could and want him to. She would just havew to see. These thoughts whirred through her head but her expression was blank and her eyes were fixated on Cliff as she awaited a response.

Cliff hears Arethra's choice, "Take them, I don't want to deal with the nerd and Sayke would do better with a magic specializing master." He sighs handing the boys over to her. He glances at the the class looking at him and Arethra with interest, "Guess there really isn't anyone here for me to teach then unless anyone wants to prove me wrong." he says loud enough for everyone to hear he then catches the silvery eyes of Meiro, he knew that was the grandson of the Headmaster from his life at the school. Everyone knew Meiro even back when Cliff was in school, he was happier then but news of his parents death spread quickly and few saw Meiro anymore it was supriseing for Cliff to see him after so long.

Seth watched the whole thing almost silently, an unusual thing for him. Originally he'd tried to follow the lesson when the masters started talking to students, not feeling the need to watch them once he found out what they were doing, but when even the teacher was watching them Seth had to watch as well. When the masters started talking amongst themselves Seth picked up the pencil Sayke had made and examined it. It was really cold and he put it down quickly before turning to Sayke. "That," he said quietly, "is way cool." He smiled. "It looks to me like you found yourself a master. Congratulations." He clapped Sayke on the back before looking back at the masters in time to hear the announcement of one, challenging the students to prove they were ready. Seth considered his own abilities. He wasn't sure what he could do to impress the master. He became lost in thought as he attempted to decide, a lengthy process for him, and he didn't even notice the entrance of the new student.

"I don't care about that, I want to know how you're feeling." Maye sighs, Hailom was caught up in something and she wanted him to come back to his present condition. She picks up the collar the bloody fur was disgusting and matted she didn't want to put it back on Hailom's neck, but if she was going to have to she had to clean it to prevent infections when it hurt Hailom again. Maye walks over to the sink in Yuta's bathroom and starts rinsing it off still keeping an eye on Hailom through the walls, she comes back quickly the collar wet and smelling like a wet dog.

Zeki watched Arethra as she picked up the ice pencil. Though the object Sayke had chosen may not have be the most useful, it did show his talent. Even from this distance Zeki could tell he had natural skill that could be applied strategically in countless ways. However his attention turned from Sayke's ability to Arethra as she spoke. He raised an eyebrow and looked straight at her. Then a soft smile came to his lips. She was serious about wanting to take him on as a student and he liked the idea. It had been a long time since he had heard a master truthfully say they wanted him, in fact he couldn't remember there ever being one that truly wanted him as a student. He was in a good enough mood that he didn't even register Cliff's nerd title. Though he probably never would again.

Arethra was silent for a moment and Sayke was bout to stumble over an apology when she spoke. He looked up at her, startled by her compliment. But by the time he had lifted his blushing face she had turned her attention to Cliff. Then Seth spoke and he shifted his gaze to his new friend as he spoke. He felt his blush deepen with his compliments. "Thanks." He said simply, not used to being praised so much. Though the idea that he had been chosen by a master was still a little bit of a shock. He hadn't been here all that long, he felt a bit guilty for taking the opportunity away from other, more experienced students.

Hailom was a bit taken aback by Maye's words. He had just done something inappropriate and she was more worried about how he felt. His heart twisted, maybe there was more to her than a cruel suck up. He remained deep in thought, trying to figure out how to answer Maye's question. He barely even noticed that she had taken the bloody collar and gone to wash it off. When she returned Hailom looked up, smelling the wet dog scent, but ignoring it. HE swallowed, finally answering her question with one simple statement. "It hurts." Though it may not have seemed like much of an answer it took a lot for Hailom to just admit that he was in pain.

Cliff isn't suprised by Meiro's first response to his eye contact, intimidation that's the kind of challenge I'm looking for. He makes his choice right then an there, no need to stall. "I'm looking at my new student" Cliff grins striding over to Meiro and leaning on his desk. "And I'm not giving you a choice like Nerd over there, you're my student I'm your master, the end." he smirks eager to see Meiro's reaction.

Maye smiles, Hailom had responded so at least she knew he had some feeling. "Was that so hard?" she sighs, "I know I've allready told you this, but you need to relax." Maye says offering him her hand. "Come on you can stand can't you? You should probably get back in bed even though it reaks of Yuta's horrible stench." She tries to joke and improve Hailom's attitude. She wished there was something more she could do about his pain but for now she figured a caring and positive attitude around was something he needed.

Hailom nodded, it had been really hard for him to say those simple words. Though for some reason it felt good to finally say that he was in pain. "Relax?" he whispered to himself, the meaning of the word was something Hailom wasn't familiar with. He turns his gaze to Maye's extend hand before taking it in silence, she was right about needing rest. Though her joke about Yuta's stench made his empty stomach turn.
He doubted his jelly legs could support him, he tried anyway. Pulling his legs beneath him, using Maye as a support, he pushed himself up, only to have his knees give out half way.

Meiro continues to stare down Cliff as he stride towards him. He didn't so much as twitch as Cliff leaned on his desk and made his declaration. But after Cliff's words stopped Meiro reacted. With a huff he turned his head away from Cliff. "As if." He said haughtily. "Weaklings should know that they are below me." He said folding his arms and giving Cliff a cold, sideways glance.

Maye catches Hailom before he falls, "We'll take this slowly then." She said supporting nearly all his weight and making her way to the bed wth him, careful not to touch his neck. "You should relax, like rest? Calm down? Chill?" Maye responds to his older comment, she was suprised he didn't know what it meant had he really been that over worked? She helps him lower himself on to the bed, sliding a pillow under his head to better support his neck. She backs off not wanting to seem touchy, "comfortable?" she asks.

Cliff sighs, "Really, am I that immature that no one here respects my Master status." he grumbles. He had trained students before, why were these students all being so difficult? "You're not of higher status than me, who's the one who's sitting at the desk and who's the one that's standing over the desk and ordering the kid sitting at the desk? hmm?" Cliff looks at Meiro quizically. At least this one hadn't thrown a pencil at him yet or started reading a textbook. Cliff turns to the teacher in the classroom, "Please excuse Meiro, I'm going to take him outside with me."
The teacher permits him to leave eager to get Cliff's distracting behaviour out of the classroom.
Cliff nods and grabs Meiro by his wrist before he can retaliate and pulls him outside of the room in a swift movement.

Hailom frown to himself, slightly disappointed that his legs hadn't been able to hold him up. He was thankful to Maye for her help, but he wouldn't admit it. He was practically carried back to Yuta's silky bed. He was still pondering what relax meant, even with Maye's attempt to explain it, he wasn't entirely sure what such a thing was. Rest, like sleeping or taking a short break when ones' body couldn't take it anymore, didn't quite make sense to him. Calming down, after a fight or other intense situation, made the most sense to him. He didn't understand at all what she had meant by chill.
Other than the pain that throbbed through him, he was lost trying to figure out what exactly Maye was telling him to do. Her simple question brought him back. Blinking he turned to look at her with his red eyes. "Yeah." He replies vaguely, he was much more comfortable here than on the floor.

Meiro ignored Cliff's first statement about being immature and respect. But his next words got Meiro's attention. He sharply turned his young, fierce face to Cliff and glared at him as though he was trying to tear apart his very soul. He hated being lectured, but even more so he hated being called a kid. He knew he was young, but he was also aware of his own abilities and if it wasn't for his grandfather, he would likely outrank, or at least match rank with, almost everyone at this school.
