Name: Jack Ryder
Age: 22
Sex: Male
Room: 2A
Supernatural abilities: Teleportation
Strengths: Jack has one skill with his teleportation that he learned on the streets. Before he fully knew about his powers he had to learn to get around fast in a big city. He learned parkour from a small gang of thieves in Atlanta growing up. After years of practice, cuts, and broken body parts parkour was a nature to him.
Weaknesses: Jack's teleportation is shaky and can be over powered, it is still fairly new to him. At the moment he has to see the spot where he is teleporting to get there and then sometimes it doesn't work. His power has intense capabilities that Jack cannot control at the moment. Jack once was running from the cops across Atlanta when he tried teleporting into a building and ended up in the St. Louis arch. He had seen a picture of it once but that was it. He couldn't teleport back either, he jumped a train and rode it back to Atlanta but nothing like that has happened since.
Fears: Fire terrifies Jack, its effects his powers. If Jack was in a building on fire it is almost impossible for him to use his power. He cannot see through the flames and even if he gets a glimpse there is a chance that he will get burned on the other side. Everything about fire throws him off.
Physical description: Jack has brown eyes with thick black hair. He never really messes with it because there are better things to do. He has a dirty face with good cheek bones and a nice southern tan. Dirt under his fingers with a few cuts and scrapes here and there.
Personality traits: Jack has a kind persona, he is a man that takes what he needs and that is it. He knows that even though he is on the streets there are still people who have it worse than him. When he has some extra money he doesn't hesitate to give it to someone that needs it. The Gang he ran with tagged him as "Ryder Hood", the only footage cops have of him is of Jack feel down on a carpet. The only thing that is seen in it is his leather coat and hood. He hasn't had many interactions with people, even when he gives things away its usually just leaving for them to pick it up. He doesn't want others to get in trouble for his life style.
History: Jack used to be in a orphanage, his first memory was him being whooped with a switch from a tree. Why? He didn't know and he didn't find out. At the age of 8 this little boy stole some cloths, a lighter, and as much food as possible and escaped into the big city of Atlanta. He lived in a make shift cardboard home for two years, stealing wallets and picking up coins on the street to get some food and water. When he was twelve he started running with a small gang, they had a home and room he could sleep in, they took what they needed to get by, and looked out for each other. They did a little bigger jobs but nothing to get them noticed. They were good at a art of moving around called parkour, jumping buildings and going places that the cops couldn't go. On one job they ended up on top of a 5 story high building. There was no way to the roof besides jumping like him and his crew did. He decided that this was the time that he should go on his own, there had been people that left the gang before so there were no hard feelings and they went their separate ways.
At the age of sixteen Jack was running from the cops on the street after he was caught picking off a few bags of groceries from a super market. Running through the crowded streets of Atlanta, trying to lose the cops but finding it almost impossible. Jack jumped off a small produce stand and into traffic where a semi was about to meet his face. Jack closed his eyes and held his breath expecting his death in a few seconds.
POP Jack's ears were ringing but when he opened his eyes he saw papers flying around and a bunch of people staring at him. The ringing slowly stopped and his senses came back to him, Jack knew he wasn't suppose to be there and ran out of the building and back to his home.
Back home Jack stood at the edge of the roof staring at the horizon to the south. He focused on the building next to him and held his breath and closed his eyes, straining his muscles to get his power to work.
POP The ringing in his ears started again but when he opened his eyes he was where he wanted to be. He smiled and laughed and then turned back to his home and tried to "jump" back to it. When he did his routine he did go but the ringing in his ears threw him off. He didn't make it the whole way and ended up falling down his building. Luckily he caught onto the fire escape, tricking death once again. Later that night he figured the reason he couldn't jump all the way was the ringing in his ears. He thought that if he could over do the ringing in his ears than he would be able to jump in succession. He went in and out of alleys until he was at this small mom and pop store on the corner. He jump'd inside and once the ringing stopped he looked around until he found a 12 gig. off brand MP3 player. He went to the computer behind the desk and worked as fast as he could installing the software and getting music. By the sunrise he had almost the whole MP3 player loaded with songs of all genre, before he left he grabbed a belt attachment to hold the player in place. Some headphones that wrapped around his ears so they would always stay on him. Lastly a silver sharpie which he wrote the name Nightcrawler on the back of it, remembering it from a comic book he had read back with the gang. He wrote down a note and left it for the owners as he felt bad that he was taking from people that were just getting a decent, honest pay. "I am sorry I stole the MP3 player, honestly I feel horrible because you are good people. I will pay you back and with intrest. You have to trust me on this, thank you." He left the note and jumped out onto the street and then headed to his home.
Soon Jack was back at the roof with Nightcrawler hitched on his belt and the ear buds in his ear. He had jumping down to just a few small things now. Look at place, tighten muscles, throw yourself toward the object. Jack looked down at Nightcrawler and hit shuffle and turned up the music as the beat started coming to his ears.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rbm6GXllBiw&ob=av3eJack smiled as the old rock came to his ears, he went through his small check list and threw himself to the building. With his eyes open one moment he was staring at a door 50 feet from him and next he was touching it. Jack felt himself to make sure he was all there and the listened but all he could here was Slash shredding up the guitar. He had to jump quick to make sure he could so he turned back to the building he was on and jumped there. Jack looked down and laughed when he heard the drums hit hard and from there on it was a gift for sure. Jack went flying rooftop to rooftop, jumping off of roofs doing blackflips as the hard guitar solo came in at the end. He was twirling on his side and sliding on his knees but always landing on his feet as he jumped from one place to the other.
Once he had practiced his skill for a long time he took it to the street. There was a rich man in a penthouse in Atlanta that had a diamond that he spent millions on. Jack went into the place teleporting from one place to the other. Bam, Bam, Bam, moving throw the house it was almost impossible to see him. He was in a corridor and the diamond was in sight, when he was about to teleport to it he tripped on the carpet sending him tumbling into the glass case. This was the only time a camera ever caught him, Jack freaked out when sirens started to blare and didn't stick around to find out what would happen.
Six years from that Jack had made a name for himself, tagged as the Valiant Ryder Hood who helps out the low class of people. He rarely talks to anyone anymore, staying in his little hut area on his roof. With something to keep him dry, a bed, and even a small handheld t.v. that he can get 6 channels on. It was very little but this was all Jack wanted, he would do a job once every two weeks or so to keep him and his people healthy. That is....until the day.
Day of captivity: November 12th, 2011
Song playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RukUetw0hAM&ob=av3e Jack teleported to his roof as he pulled out the bundle of money in his pocket and flipped through it counting the bills. "Quite the set up here Mr. Ryder, not bad for a man doing a small theft here and there." A man in a black two piece suit was standing with Jack's small T.V. in hand. Jack looked to the building next to him ready to move. "Uh uh uh Ryder hood, no jumping tonight, we need to talk. You see I'm here on half of a group of people, people that look for, well people like you. You're not the only one out the Jack and we know that you are a good person."
"A good person? Ha, I steal for a living."
"No Jack, you steal for other's living. You're power are good to, useful to say."
"Would you get to the point, I don't like people here."
"Calm down, calm down, I'm here to offer you a job Jack. Doing what you do on a bigger scale, saving more people. Also anything you've ever done, bounties, crimes, hell even if you want your existence gone, we can do it."
"So you're saying, I come with you and I'm gone, no one will know Jack Ryder was here?"
"That's what I'm saying."
"You know how shady this is right?"
"I know, but I knew everything about you Jack. We could have just taken you but I thought you would want this."
Jack looked out to the city, all of these people he would be leaving. The man walked closer to Jack, "Jack, you will be saving more than just Atlanta, it's better this way."
Jack nodded and turned to the man in the suit. "Then I'm ready, lets go now, I don't want this to be harder than it has to be."
The man nodded and started down the fire escape as Jack just jumped there. As they entered the car Jack asked them to stop at a place. When they got there Jack got out and went inside. There was a old man at the counter and jack placed down the bundle of money on the counter, "I'm sorry sir, I said I'd get it back." The old man looked at it and went through the bills. "Son I'm glad you were true to your word but this is way to much money." Jack smiled and pushed the money back towards him, "Trust me sir, it's not even enough in my book." Jack smiled and turned to walk out of the store, "Thank you son!" Jack left that store and Ryder hood behind. Today was the last day of being some vigilante and becoming a hero.
Side notes: The only thing Jack has that he really holds dear is his black leather jacket. Jack wants to be a hero in his mind but in his heart he really just wants a family.
