a character in “The Effect”, originally authored by Weilacca, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name: Jeremy Dantoh

Age:Unknown

Sex:Male

Race: Human (undead)

Personality: Jeremy is a cocky and sociable person. He can be seen as a complete asshole towards others, usually when he sees them waste their energy on useless stuff while he is left constantly managing and trying to use as little energy as possible. Along with Asher, Jeremy can act the same towards lower class people. Looking down on everyone and usually referring to them as "energy sources". Of course, due to the laws, Jeremy cannot simply kill people for energy as he used to.

Bio: Jeremy is actually a very old person. He was an apprentice of the founders of necromancy back when he was alive. Of course, due to his determination to surpass his masters, Jeremy attempted to train on his own. After attempting to reanimate a corpse, he pronounced the magical casts wrong which caused it to backfire to reanimate himself. This resulted in killing himself but also reanimating himself.
Now, Jeremy had learned that he needs to reanimate himself daily in order to stay alive. His energy also slowly dissipates as he is basically constantly using a reanimation spell in order to move and live. And so, he needs to find a source of energy to keep him alive.
Nature energy can be absorbed from the environment, but it requires Jeremy to stay still for a few hours in order to gain enough energy for one reanimation.
Moon stones and other magic storage items are usually used as a source of energy intake.
Jeremy can absorb energy from other beings, but it results in killing them, which is of course against the law.

Now, Jeremy works as the bodyguard of Asher, where he would gain his daily payment of moonstones, enough energy to allow one undead summon and one reanimation, along with left over energy to survive through the day.
Due to his powers, Jeremy has the ability to see magical energy. Along with the ability to summon a large scythe, which is only possible once a day and lasts about 5 hours.

Job (if any): Asher's Bodyguard

Description:
Image
Jeremy wears his usual black necromancy robes, it's kind of like a way to keep the memories of his long gone masters with him.
He has grey hair and eyes and his skin is slightly discoloured as if it were decomposing.

So begins...

"That is it folks! The new mayor..." I muted the TV before I got to annoyed by the news castors voice. I watched as the city of Haven's new mayor was paraded on a float around the city.
"Lame." I drawled out the word, and shut of the TV. That did nothing to quite what was going on out side though. To many people calibrating a stupid mayor, it wasn't like he was a crowned king or anything. I looked over at the clock it was about 1 in the afternoon and this had been going on all day. Well more like 10 in the morning, but I didn't like to get up early or in the morning so I was just grumpy. Grumbling I scratched my stomach as I got off the couch in my spacious apartment, and into the kitchen. I opened the fridge.............. nothing. "Damn it, OI! JEREMY!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. Jeremy was my unnecessary body guard that was posing as my roommate. Thing is he was human, a dead human, but human. I closed the fridge and opened up a cupboard that I kept the sea salt in. One box left... Yep. Time to go shopping... I grumbled to my self. I was a prince damn it all, I shouldn't have to go shopping.

Jeremy was standing in the corner of the room, watching the now muted television which his guarded person was watching. It all seemed to be a waste of time and money, along with energy. Why would they waste important goods and energy on some insignificant parade thing about a damned mayor. He looked like the kind of person who would accidentally kill himself anyway, so it wouldn't be surprising if there was another election soon.

"Damn it, OI! JEREMY!"
The call of his 'master' originated from the kitchen, oh yeah, he must of walked out there while Jeremy was thinking. But, he might as well head over to him.
"What is it, sir." Jeremy mumbled as he entered the kitchen, only to see his master grumbling over some sea salt. That stuff can be used for some good spells, or even energy storage. Although, being dead, Jeremy cannot utilise much spells unless they were simple necromancy. Maybe he could teach his much younger master.

"Yes, that is salt."

I gave a very pointed glare to my guard. "I know it's salt. I am not a idiot." I put the salt back in the cupboard. "I need to get more of it, and possibly finer stuff too, this stuff makes me itchy. Or did you forget that I need to bathe in a box of the stuff everyday." I pointed to the fridge. "I also need to get some more food, or did you forget the I'm not dead and need to eat three meals a day." I was in no mood to deal with snarky commoner undead human. Bad enough I woke up way to early today. "While we are at it we can get you some more of toughs moon stones you need." I grumbled and stormed off into my room to grab money and my pendant. I never left with out it. I fiddled with the pendant, I was the only person in my family that could use this, then again I couldn't use water magic, so this weapon was my saving grace I guess.

"Ah yes, It's hard to get used to coexisting with many different races. Back in my day, people like you were fairy tales. And people like me were burnt at the stake." Jeremy answered his master, he didn't really pay attention to the way he was treated, it's a good source of moon stones in order to have a constant supply of energy to stay alive.

His master had already headed off to get ready, Jeremy doesn't sleep, so there is no need to get dressed or anything. Since he is always in the same clothes, unless he washes, but that normally results in limbs dropping off.

"So, we are going for a nice walk I guess."

I came back out of my room, and raised a eye brow at him. Right, he was much older then he looked. "Yeah, whatever. At any rate we aren't walking. Not with the shit that is going on out side. We wouldn't get anywhere." I patted my pockets looking for my keys, great now I have to find the damn things. I tore apart the couch to fine success, they where hidden in between the seats. "We will be taking my motorbike." I walked over to the shoe closet and pulled out my favorite shoes and slipped them on. I walked over to the balcony where I kept my high tech motorbike. I didn't like to keep it down below where the common folk to get their grubby hands on my baby.

"Sir, robes and motorbikes don't mix." Jeremy states as he signalled to the black necromancer robes he was wearing. They may be many hundreds or thousands of years old, but they were well kept and were at great quality.
"One suggests thy walk today, one wants to have a closer look at this new mayor." Jeremy added as he watched his master hunt for his keys.
"One doesn't see why thou doesn't run for mayor. Thou art a prince afterall, lead this place to prosperity."
Jeremy always had a strange way of speaking, being born and raised in the times of great magical prowess on earth and then living through the ages to a time where fairytales were real as aliens. Of course his speech would be mixed up with the modern means of communication.

I looked back over to Jeremy. He had a point. "Lets see, I don't run for mayor because I am supposed to be in hiding. Meaning I don't make a seance. Meaning don't let the common folk know who you really are, that kind of thing. Besides the people here seam to be doing fine." I crossed my arms "and as for the motorbike robe problem, can't you ware pants for once? I mean I know the robes are important to do, but you could always put pants on underneath." I really didn't want to walk in the crowd of commoners likely to pick my pockets. I sighed, it would be so much easier to drive. I tumbled with the idea for a little while grumbling with my self. I looked over to my undead guard and cursed.
"Fine we will walk, such a commoner thing to do though." I stormed over to the door to my apartment and opened it. "We will hit up the slums first and get you some fancy energy stones. Can't get toughs downtown, come on we will take the Memorial Park, a lot less people will be down there today." I grumbled. Stupid commoners.

"If thou art in hiding, thee should act as the commoners. Thou can be found out easily if thee don't." Jeremy added, as he wondered over to his master, slightly annoyed with his masters remark. "It is not the necromancer way as to wear non enchanted clothing."

And so, Jeremy opened the door and left first, keeping a lookout for any thugs which may be around. No matter where one can be, there will always be some asshole theif or whatever who wants your wallet. "'tis a nice thing to be walking in the fresh air. Slows down the decomposition process. It takes a large sum of energy to reattach a limb."

"It is not the necromancer way as to wear non enchanted clothing." I seethed to my self, I really needed to invest in a "common-ish" car so that I didn't have to walk nor deal with the walking dead and his robe issues. I would have to talk to my father, or get my contact to talk to him for me. What ever worked best in my part. "Whatever..." I fallowed not that far behind my guard as we walked out side. "Tis at nice thing to be walking in the fresh air. Slows down the decomposition process. It takes a large sum of energy to reattach a limb"
"Keep the talk about being undead to a minimum while in public dude. Not all people are going to like the fact that your dead, and walking and talking, oh and have a mind and will of your own." I shoved my hands in my pockets I started to trudge my way threw a crowd of people to make it to the Memorial Park entrance.

"Keep the talk about being undead to a minimum while in public dude. Not all people are going to like the fact that your dead, and walking and talking, oh and have a mind and will of your own."
"My apologies, sir. One is bound to thee via a contract made by thy father. One cannot live with a mind and will of his own." Jeremy explained as he calmly walked next to his master.
There was soo many people around that day, more than usual because of the useless event which was taking place. People were bumping into Jeremy as he attempted to push through the crowd, preventing the same to happen to his master.
"'tis quite annoying to see these people all together. Makes one's instinct to kill try to take over..."

The two finally made it to the Memorial Park entrance, at this area was less people, which made life much easier for the two. Jeremy would have been lost if he wasn't with his master, he simply pays more attention to keeping an eye on the master instead of the environment.

"What is the temperature?" Jeremy asked, a bit confused as to why people were sweating when he felt soo cold. Well, of course he would, he has no sense of touch and therefore cannot feel any temperature except the coldness of his dead body."

I gave a pointed look to Jeremy, "You made the decision to agree to the contract right? Thus a will of your own. I don't expect a mindless idiot to be my body guard Jeremy."
"Tis quite annoying to see these people all together. Makes one's instinct to kill try to take over..." I laughed at Jeremy's remark about crowds. I admit crowds weren't my thing ether. I was far to used to having the crowd part for me. With the help of Jeremy, I remained unscratched, as we entered Memorial Park. I like the fact that it wasn't all that busy down here. "What is the temperature?" I looked down at my wrist band, on the effect we called them C-bands, or clear-bands, it worked much like a cell phone, only it was much more less likely to give me cancer and so on. The temperature read 25 degrees celsius. No wonder I felt so tacky and gross, I was used to far colder temperatures. "25 degrees celsius." I grunted and made to wards the slums. I just might make a impromptu trip to the sports center and go swimming in that salt water pool they got.... or maybe not. They probably use that cheep shit that makes my skin itch.

"'twas more like one had to agree. If one refused, one would be left to rot with no moonstones. But, one should not have told thee." Jeremy sighed, he deliberately wanted to let his master know, maybe it would allow him to be treated better. What would Jeremy be doing if he wasn't bound by a contract? Probably become a mass murderer or something like that. It sounds more fun like that.

Jeremy watched as his master looked at his wrist band, it was one of the technologies which responds to living nervous responses transmitted from the brain. Of course, no matter how much he wanted one, Jeremy was unable to use one. 25 degrees... That's a hot temperature, maybe. Back when he was alive, there were no means of measuring the temperature, but it's nice to know some things.

"Could one get some anti bacterial bodywash? One does not want one's skin to quickly fall apart, and it saves energy when there is less bacteria eating away at ones body."

Left to rot with no moon stones ....... What did my father do... wait no it was most likely my 3rd eldest brother. Always trying to get on fathers good side. Probably took all the moon stone Jeremy had and force him into the contract. I huffed, all well. "Kinda sounds like my family, not that much of a surprise... As for the bacterial body wash, consider it bought. I don't need you falling apart." If Jeremy was trying to get treated better then it may have starting working. My family wasn't the nicest of people. "If you think I don't treat anyone well, wait till you meet my eldest sister. She treats her own flesh and blood like scum under her boot, or should I say her 7 inch stiletto heals." Ah the good old days. I turned a corner, and there was the slums entrance in site. It was kinda gloomy looking, then again the lights hadn't been replaced in this section in forever. I turned to Jeremy, "Look, up there is worse then downtown. Normally this is a no go place for people with lots of money, that is unless you want something illegal or something hard to come by. So because you can't buy moon stones in the average place. We have come here. Where if I was a lone someone most likely would mug me, hell even with the two of us someone, or multiplie people, will most likely attempt to mug us."

"One thanks you, sir." Jeremy gave a small bow as he walked alongside his master, keeping an eye out for anything which could pose a threat. "Her own flesh and blood? Is thou sister a masochist?" Jeremy was a bit confused with his master's words, but it didn't matter. Most of the stuff that left his mouth was confusing to Jeremy, maybe because he isn't human.

The two had reached the entrance to the slums, the gloomy look was quite inviting. If there was a way to break out of this contract, then Jeremy would definitely find refuge in this place. Maybe he could find some people who could improve his energy levels. Although, as his master said, it is a good place to visit for moonstones and other illegal stuff. Maybe there will be some cool enchanted stuff or something.

"Would thou need one to summon one's scythe? Five hours is the limit."

"Her own flesh and blood? Is thou sister a masochist?" I didn't want to think about that, nope. Abort abort! "I mean her family when I say her own flesh and blood. We all have the same two parents, thus made of the same stuff." I walked into the slums slowly keeping my guard up. "You might want to pull it out, You know just to look intimidating." I admit this place freaked me out, this was no place for a prince to be wandering. I felt a shiver go down my spine, but kept my cool. I defiantly didn't want to show weakness around these people. To them I was a outsider, hell even Jeremy was a outsider. I took a deep breath and trudge forward.

"So that's what thou mean. One sees." Jeremy nodded to himself, his confusion was explained and he understood. That was strange, it wasn't always that he understood his master.
"You might want to pull it out, You know just to look intimidating."
"Sounds quite fun, sir."

With that, Jeremy held his arm out, his hand in the position as if it were holding something. A black pentagram quickly formed where the hand was at the center. Quickly, the pentagram copied itself into two, one moved upwards, the other downwards. This allowed the long metal handle to form, it was about 1.5 times bigger than Jeremy's body (Who was already at 6'3"). The blade of the scythe grew to about 3/4 times the size of his body. Once the scythe had been summoned, the pentagrams disintegrated into the air.

Image
Jeremy then continued walking next to his master, holding his scythe upside down as he walked, ready to strike at anyone.
Glancing over to his master, Jeremy could see his energy had become disturbed, he was nervous, or even scared. Jeremy himself did not care, it's not like thugs could kill him anyway.

Now that the weapon was out I could breath a little easier. And now that I felt just a little bit safer I walked off looking for some kind of place that would be selling moon stones. It shouldn't be that hard to fine somewhere, then again I didn't come to this part of the city.... ever. That is when I saw a very attractive nymph. She was to attractive to be a human, that and her "eleven" appearance gave it all away. She was giving us a slightly surprised look. Then it hit me, perhaps the weapon was a little bit over board and attracting to much attention to wards us. I looked around at the other people in the area, though not that many, there where still people, they had all be giving us strange looks. I looked over at Jeremy.
"I think putting that away might be a better idea. To much attention." I didn't feel like gaining anymore attention that I was getting in this place. It all ready made me feel uneasy. "Only pull it out when the fighting starts, if any starts." I scratched the left side of my neck where my scales where, stupid cheep salt. "Now lets go, I don't want to be here any longer then I need to be." I trudged off further into the slums.

Jeremy's master seemed more relieved now that the scythe was out, that made Jeremy somewhat happy. Maybe because he had done something good for his master, not like there was much to do anyway. He was self sufficient, he could easily survive without Jeremy. How can he break the contract...?

And now Jeremy is more pissed off than happy. He was told to waste his energy on summoning the scythe, and now it isn't needed? It's not like he can just whip it out when he pleases, he is dead! He can't spare that much energy.
"Sir, One cannot summon the scythe anymore, one has too little energy levels. If one removes the scythe now, it cannot be summoned until one gains more energy." Jeremy explained, speaking with a little hiss in his croaky, death like voice. He was obviously annoyed.

"Besides, One cannot reverse summon. Yet."

Myra had kept her eye on the undead man and his companion. She felt like they didn't belong in the slums, nor did they seem to know where they were going. She stopped walking and tried to assess the situation. The undead obviously had a lot of energy if he was able to summon a scythe, but she couldn't place her finger on the other one. She tried her hair into an updo, a habit for when she was focusing, and peered toward the man. Well, I might as well try and get a closer look. Maybe they're lost?

Myra directed her path toward the men and placed a sympathetic smile on her face, though she was more cautious than anything. Glancing down to her jewelry of petrified wood, she felt safer, and decided to let her hair down. After shaking her hair out, she stood a few feet away from the men and studied them. "Do you need help? Are you lost?" She particularly eyed the man until she smelled a hunt of salt. Raising her chin in a curious manner, she wondered if he may be a merman.

I just about jumped out of my skin when the nymph spoke to us. I turned to face her quickly. I turned back to Jeremy and whispered a quick "fine do what you need to". I felt safer with the thing out any way, and faced the Nymph again. She was giving us a sympathetic smile. I didn't need sympathy! I knew I stood out like a sore thumb. I could also tell that she knew her way around this place so perhaps getting some info from her would be a good idea.
"Nah, not lost, but maybe you could tell me where I could get some moon stones. I'll be out of everyone's hair as soon as we get them." I gave a confident smirk. I crossed my fingers mentally in hopes that she would tell me so I would spend less time wandering around this place.
