Kit Wilson's ever-faithful butler is more than he seems.
Genial and kindly, Norman displays obvious grandfatherly tendencies towards Kit, and anyone younger than him that he comes to like, actually. He is very easy to talk to, and makes for a veritable wellspring of advice. He's patient and understanding, but only to a point.
Despite his general goodwill, Norman doesn't follow an ordinary system of what anyone would call morals. He regards the law very little if at all, and lives by one rule and one rule alone: Protect Kit, at all costs. Naturally, if his gentle employer knew this, she'd likely protest, so he does not show aggression without reason. Still, Norman is not someone to cross, especially not if Kit is involved.
Unbeknownst to just about everyone, Kit included, Norman carries a Glock .22, and he's an excellent shot with it.
A former agent for the British Secret Service, Norman retired for reasons unknown and now works for the Wilson family. Since the rest of the family's death, he know contracts with Kit exclusively. Though he plays the part of the polite, amicable butler, he is, in reality, a bodyguard. He initially came to work for the Wilsons as a business arrangement only, but he soon grew attached to the family, especially the youngest daughter, Kit, who he refers to as "Miss Katherine" or, in more personal moments, "Kitty."
He made a promise to his employer on the man's death bed that he would continue to work for and support Kit even after her family's death, a task he has taken on quite readily. It was he that taught the young woman to walk and function again after losing her sight, and it is he that continues to serve as her protector and adviser.
The disease, perhaps in response to his strong desire to live to keep his promise, has granted him the ability to communicate telepathically. He can project his thoughts into anyone's head, but can only hear those thoughts that others allow him to, save for the occasional really "loud" one. He also possesses the same enhanced senses and disease resistance as every other survivor.
