        ✮ -- ( ROSE EASTWOOD ) ───────────────────────────────
        [ location : compound ] [ age : twenty-four ] [ role : demigod; poseidon ] [ tagged : hydra ]

          - - - - -As much as she hated to admit it, Rose was never much with a trident. It was the weapon of Poseidon and, therefore, the expected weapon of choice for his demigod daughter. Her uncle Zeus made a habit of pointing this out literally every chance his got. Hades didn't seem to give a shit, which was comforting, but when your other uncle was the king of the gods, you were always under some sort of pressure. Apparently, that pressure for her was to be excellent with a top-heavy weapon that no one liked and to be obsessed with fish. I mean, the latter was actually accurate, but she wouldn't give her self-righteous uncle the satisfaction of knowing that.

          - - - - -She placed the weapon back on its rack - a cheap metal bar in her corner of the armory. Next to it was a mannequin with the armor she never wore and a sheath with her long sword. Everything she owned was adorned in silver and blue. In fact, there were even some sections made of a clear metal that almost looked glassy. For the clarity of the ocean, her father had told her when he gifted her with such equipment. She only truly cared for the sword - Stormweaver - a slim weapon with a grey-blue hilt and a silver-transparent blade. The armor was too heavy and the trident was too stereotypical.

          - - - - -Once her weapons were in order, she exited the training room, ignoring the pointing fingers from the new recruits. Jeez, Randy really didn't know how to keep those bitches in line. They always stared - I mean, it wasn't everyday an ordinary human would actually be face to face with a demigod. Well, not if you didn't work for the organization, that is. She clinched her teeth, ignoring these idiots, before walking through the hallways of the compound.

          - - - - -The demigod lived in a small room on the second floor. There was almost nothing there aside from the calming scent of ocean and her many aquariums that lined the walls. She'd recently broken her personal record for most fish kept at once - which, by the way, is 216; she's very proud - and they were a lot to take care of. She didn't mind it though, for she adored the little creatures. No one else in the compound had the same respect for the creatures that she did. She ran her hand along the side of her largest aquarium, taking time to admire the clownfish, seahorses, etc.

          - - - - -She sighed a small sigh of relief as she flopped down onto the bed for a few seconds of peace. Then her eyes shot open once more, bright blue orbs beaming at the ceiling. "I was supposed to do something today," she pondered. She sat back up, her body aching for a moment from the work-out she'd just gotten. Did it have something to do with Hydra?" she asked herself.

          - - - - -Her eyes widened at the clock. Shit, she thought. She was supposed to meet Hydra for lunch ten minutes ago. That being said, the blonde threw on a not-so-sweaty t-shirt and a pair of jeans before running out of her bedroom and down the stairs to the mess hall. She slowed her pace when she approached him. Try not to seem sorry or desperate. She stood on her tip toes to whisper in his ear. "Boo."

        ✮ -- ( CHIMERA ) ───────────────────────────────
        [ location : cafe ] [ age : twenty-one ] [ powers : fire breath ] [ tagged : open ]

          - - - - -Chimera wasn't a big fan of the food they served in the mess hall of the compound. In fact, he wasn't a fan of the compound at all. There were too many humans wanting to poke at the back of his neck - almost like they were looking for his fucking mane. Besides, the ignorance of the human world was relaxing to him. He liked to be out and about in his leisure time rather than trapped in that metal building, a prison for his kind. Chimera, despite his docile demeanor, wasn't trusted. He was under constant supervision, as if he could destroy the entire society without batting an eyelash. They weren't wrong. He could, but that certainly didn't mean he would.

          - - - - -Every chance he got, Kai left the compound and ventured through the city of Los Angeles. He was starting to get the hang of all of this: how to interact with people, where to go for things, and who to avoid. He even had a few favorite spots. When he wasn't sneaking his way up to the Hollywood sign, he was frequenting his favorite cafe - a small French restaurant called 'Le Petit'. He sat down at his small table, sipping his scalding hot coffee and glancing out the window.

          - - - - -The sunshine was beautiful and he hated that he couldn't bask in it while he was in the compound. He took great pleasure in sitting my the window at the cafe, for it gave him a warmth that he'd been missing behind steel walls. The coffee that was scalding his tongue and burning his throat also contributed to that effect. Then again, could anything you drink truly be hot when you breath fire? He didn't seem to think so.

          - - - - -He wished he spoke French. Maybe then he'd know how to properly handle himself in this cafe. All he could muster was a simple "Merci," when the waitress came back with his croissant and check. She nodded and disappeared into the small crowd that had gathered in the cafe. He bit into the bread, feeling it immediately quench the flame that had been building in his lungs. If he didn't find a way to extinguish it every know and then, he'd start exhaling smoke. Then flames, but it had only gotten that bad once or twice. He didn't like to think about that.

          - - - - -His mind wandered. What was everyone else doing right now? Was he the only one who hated the confinement of the compound? Did everyone just stay there because it was expected of them? He tried to picture where all of his friends were and what they were doing. Zeus and Hades were fighting, no doubt. Hydra and Rose were probably flirting, the same way those fuckers always did. Cerberus was probably still asleep and Icarus was probably hiding in his room. He swore that, no matter where he was, Apollo was admiring himself in a mirror and Al was sitting alone. Then there was Ash. Sometimes, that girl was a mystery. She was bubbly and kind, but Kai never truly knew what she was thinking. He shrugged. Maybe he just wasn't trying hard enough.

          - - - - -He gathered his thoughts once more, chomping down his croissant and finishing off the last few sips of his coffee. It wasn't a huge lunch, but it would do. The Chimera didn't need as much as everyone expected. He ate mostly hot wings anyway. He left a sizable tip - frankly, he paid more than the meal was worth - on the table and stepped out into the sun.

It was the middle of a Wednesday morning, and to Hyrda, that was one of the worst things ever. Wednesdays were never a good thing. Literally nothing good ever happened on Wednesdays. There was one good thing happening, though. Hydra was suppose to meet Rose in about an hour. The only problem? He had nothing to do for an hour. Which was why he was in the park right above the compound.

Hyrda never went outside much. He never really saw any need to. Humans were just... weird, and he could never figure out what they were thinking. I mean, he was a fucking hydra. He wasn't suppose to understand people. Just swimming and killing and eating, really, and even then he only enjoyed two of those things. However, it was possible that he would enjoy parks. He just didn't know at the time because he had never been to one before.

He started to take a walk around, observing the flowers and trees, people walking their dogs. Heh, the only "dog" he'd have to walk would be Cerberus, who would actually agree to do such a ridiculous thing if his head wasn't always shoved up Hades' ass. Oh well, out of the three godly brothers, Hades was probably the only one that he liked. Then again, even though he had never met him, he felt like he needed to like Poseidon, mainly because he was Rose's dad. God, Rose... Now that was a subject he had a hard time discussing. He knew he liked her, like, a lot, but guys don't tell people their feelings. It wasn't cool.

Hyrda put away his thoughts of Rose to go back to observing the park. Surely there was something there to make him less bored. Besides the people jogging (ew) and walking dogs (no), there were people on benches reading books or feeding birds. Who the hell even does that? Not reading books, but feeding birds? Birds can get their own damn food. Oh, and reading? Hell no. Books were not cool in the slightest. Books were for nerds and dwebs and people who liked books. Hyrda was none of the above.

"Whelp, back to square one," he sighed to himself, heading back to the entrance of the compound. Once inside, he knew of only a few places to go to that might possibly cure his boredom. He started with the gym, in which he didn't have to even go inside to know that it was an immediate ew. He didn't need to work out, he was a hydra. Then there was the training room, which received the same response. The library he didn't even xxxxxxxbother to walk to. Once again, books were a no. All that was left was the food court, and Hydra felt stupid for not trying that in the first place. xxxxxxxHe loved food. Food was probably his favorite things ever. Well, second favorite thing ever, but that was different.

xxxxxxxSo, Hydra made his way to the food court where he was suppose to meet Rose anyways. It was a win, win, really, and there were only two minutes xxxxxxxleft until their meeting time. Guess he did pretty good at occupying himself after all. With that thought, he grabbed a place and started to pile it xxxxxxxup with just about everything. One of the many great things about being a hydra was that food was no issue. You could literally eat an entire xxxxxxxelephant and gain no weight. After all, realistically, he had about seven heads at this point, and he was having to feed all of them. Plus, he was xxxxxxxhuge. An elephant would be like an appetizer for him. Of course, in the human world, he had to at least try to eat what these humans consider a xxxxxxx"normal" amount.

xxxxxxxIt was when his plate was piled high with meet when he heard a quiet "boo" being whispered into his ear. Instead of jumping or being scared, he xxxxxxxsmiled. Rose. "You're late," he said to Rose, turning to face her with a smug smile on his face. "Too busy feeding your fish?"

Ash wasn't really hungry, but Wednesdays were so slow to here that she just really needed to get out and do something. Not saying that the compound wasn't great, it just got... dull at times. Which was why she was walking down the streets of L.A., phone in hand, looking for some cafe called 'Le Petit'. It was French and different, so she really wanted to try it out. Plus she loved how peaceful cafes were.

Being at the compound sometimes could be really bothersome. She lived close to the training area for new recruits, so she was always being passed by new Agents who always mistake her for an Agent as well. Even after she explained who she was they still seemed confused. No one really cared about her mother who was the goddess of rainbows. She understood though, she supposed. It was hard to focus on goddess like her mother or just a demigod like herself with freaking Zeus and Hades running around. Little do the new Agents know how big of pains in the neck those two were.

It's not like she felt completely alone, though. There was, after all, another demigod who was the daughter of Poseidon, but she mainly hung around that Hydra guy. So, in all honesty, she was kind of alone, but she wasn't totally upset about that. She had her little hobbies such as reading and painting to keep up with. Also, she did train a bit. With all these gods and monsters running around on earth, it never hurt to be ready for something bad.

Ash's phone suddenly vibrated in her hand, and she looked down to check only to see that it was her mother. Before she could even reply, she ran into something. Or more like someone. That someone just happened to be Chimera, who was standing right outside the cafe she had been walking to.
"Oh, sorry!" she said quickly, awkwardly pulling her hands to her chest. "Were you, uh, just leaving?"

          - - - - -She wasn't expecting much of a reaction out of her friend. In fact, she probably would have punched him in the shoulder if he had pretended to be startled by her. Even from just looking at the back of his head, she could see the corners of his lips raised slightly in a smile. She couldn't stop her own face from doing the same. If it weren't for the fact that she was dealing with Hydra, she might have felt guilty. Hell, she may have even apologized. But there was no way she was going to give this asshat that satisfaction.

          - - - - -Her face scrunched up in an annoyed scowl and she spun him around to face her. "Not late. Overdue," she corrected, her scowl turning into a smile. She picked up a plate, after seeing how high his was piled up. Someone's hungry, she thought with a slight shake of her head - so slight that she didn't think he'd notice. Of course, he was a massive sea serpent that could probably devour an entire army and still not be completely stuffed.

          - - - - -At his next comment, she stopped in her tracks, facing him with a glare that made her look so fucking done with this guy. "You know, contrary to popular belief, my entire life doesn't revolve around my fish," she said, but she was speaking in half truths. Her life didn't revolve entirely around those fish, but they did take up a considerable amount of her time. "I was training. You know, the thing that keeps me lethal and sexy?" she replied with a smirk.

          - - - - -Rose then began filling up her plate, though it didn't have nearly what Hydra had. She didn't eat much, which was unusual for a demigod. Instead, she settled for a burger. Seriously, just a burger. What was wrong with this chick? She turned back to her friend, beckoning for him to follow as she found them a small table against the wall in the mess hall. "So, what have you been up to today?" she asked casually, biting into her food. "I mean, Wednesdays are hella stupid, but there has to be something more to your weekdays that waiting around for me to eat lunch with you," she teased.

        - - - - -"Dad. Dad. Daddadadaaaaad," Cerberus whined like a lost puppy - which is, essentially, what he was - slapping at Hades's arm. "I brought you something. Daaaaad," he added, shaking his dark curls as he threw his head back in exaggerated exasperation. "Pay attention to me, Papa," he added. Sometimes, this boy truly did speak what was on the average dog's mind and Zeus wanted nothing more than to silence the creature.

        - - - - -"Oh, for fuck's sake, Hades, control your damn mutt," the lightning god snapped, shooting daggers over at his brother. "He's giving me a damn headache. Can't you just like... I dunno, throw a bone at his head or something? How does Persephone feel about this thing anyway?" he continued. The King of Gods was an asshole, there was no doubt about it. And he really couldn't stand those annoying kids. Ironic, since h fathered over half of Greek mythology.

        - - - - -Cerberus couldn't be bothered by Zeus. This wasn't the first time the three-headed dog had heard this speech. "My mom loves me, right Dad?" he said, nudging Hades with his elbow. This was the real perk of being in human form - besides thumbs - being able to talk to the god of the underworld. That, and he could make copies of himself, which was pretty fun if you asked him. He just didn't do it much around Hades. He asked him to stop after the incident of '09.

        - - - - -"Aren't you like twenty? Stop acting like a child," Zeus said, rolling his eyes. "Fuck, brother, when are you gonna get rid of that thing?" he whispered to his brother. "I mean, if he's up here with you all the time, he's not guarding the underworld. Why does he even exist?" he asked. He turned back to Cerberus, the dog's dark eyes locking onto the thunder god. "Away with you, pup. I have some business to discuss with my brother."

        - - - - -Cerberus scowled at the man. "Papa, do I have to go? I mean, I won't tell anyone. Promise," he said, giving Hades the best puppy-dog eyes a demon dog could muster.

Hades did his best to ignore his annoying little creation, Cerberus, staring straight ahead and scowling while the boy batted at his arm. This was normal for him ever since they came to the realm of the living. Now Cerberus could actually talk and do everything a human could do, which was quite bothersome at most times. Still, Hades loved his creation, but he'd never admit it. Persephone was the only one that he'd admit it to, and that was because she made him.

Surprisingly, the most annoying thing around him was not Cerberus, but instead was his incredibly annoying, idiotic, dick of a brother, and not to mention, the eldest, Zeus. He ground his teeth as his brother told him to control his "mutt."
"Why don't you control your dick, brother?" he grumbled under his breath while Zeus continued to complain about Cerberus, asking him what Persephone though of the beast. He didn't even get a chance to answer before Cerberus continued to pander him, asking for his approval of whether or not Persephone loved him.

Zeus spoke up once again, and it was taking Hades everything he had not to just burst, especially when Zeus started to tell Cerberus what to do. Cerberus was his to command, and when Zeus started to whisper in his ear about getting rid of his creation, he had had enough. His brother only continued to add fuel to the flames after telling Cerberus to leave.

"You can stay, Cerberus," says the god of the underworld, finally being allowed to speak. He doesn't even look at the boy, but instead keeps his glare locked on his brother. "And for your information, I don't plan on getting rid of him. He can be quite useful at times. And Persephone is guarding the underworld right now, if you must know." Hades took a second to breath before continuing. "Now what is it that you insist on discussing with me, brother, I'd really like to be elsewhere at the moment."

          - - - - -Suddenly, his moment in the sun was interrupted by a small, fairy-like creature that had stumbled into him. Oh wait, it was just the daughter of Iris. Her blue hair never ceased to catch attention and he found it a worthy attribute for the girl, though he barely knew her. "Oh, no, it's no trouble. I'm sorry," he replied, taking a step back and rubbing the back of his neck. "Um, yeah, but I'm always looking for an excuse to stay out of the compound," he said, cautiously.

          - - - - -"I could keep you company, if you want," he added with a shrug. He didn't really know this girl, but he knew her well enough to feel comfortable sitting with her for a few minutes in a French cafe. "It's Abby, right? Iris's girl?" he then added, clinching his teeth. He really hoped he got her name right, but something didn't feel right when it rolled off of his tongue. Jeez, he was terrible with people.

          - - - - -His muscles tightened for a second. "Wait, no. You probably came here to be alone and stuff. I'll just head back now and do... something. I dunno," he rambled a bit. God, he always imposed at the worst possible times and made a total ass out of himself. "Sorry to bother you. It was nice running into you," he said, starting off in the opposite direction. "Oh, by the way, the croissants are to die for."

Hydra's smile only grew when Rose responded, saying she wasn't late, but rather overdue. God this is why he lo-- liked her. This is why he liked her. One of the many reasons, but he couldn't tell her that because guys don't do that. Plus there was no way she felt the same way. I mean, he was a fucking monster, and she was a demigod. The daughter of Poseidon. What would she see in him? Nothing, that's what. He's just her... bro, and she made that clear very often.

He snapped back at attention when Rose started to respond to his second comment, totally lying to his face about her fish problem. Well, maybe not so much as a problem as an addiction, but those things were practically the same. Then Rose told him what she was actually doing, which was apparently training so she could stay lethal and sexy. Hydra blushed at that word. Sexy. He unintentionally glanced her over quickly. She was beautiful, gorgeous, and yes, she was sexy, but he couldn't tell her that. It wasn't cool and she'd laugh at him.

He cleared his throat and decided to focus on her question about what he has been up to, ignoring the very last thing she said that was actually completely true.
"Actually I went to the pa--" No, not the park, that sounds dumb. "To the gym. I mean, I obviously don't need it, but it was something to do." he shrugged, taking a seat in front of Rose and biting into a piece of chicken, hoping she didn't catch his obvious slip up. "After all, you're not the only one that needs to stay lethal and sexy. The lethalness was just a given for me, though," he teased back with a wink.

        - - - - -Zeus simply could not with his brother right in that moment. "Oh, come now, brother," the thunder god said, smiling a bit. "You ask a bit too much to me. Asking me to control my dick would be doing the world a disservice. My children has served as this world's greatest heroes hundreds of times over," he argued, clapping Hades on the shoulder. It was true. Zeus was the father of heroes such as Hebe, Perseus, and, perhaps most famously, Hercules. His sperm had saved the world a thousand times over and not once did he get a thank you from his brothers.

        - - - - -"You can't seriously intend on keeping that thing," he added, slamming his forehead against his palm in frustration. "Oh yes he can," Cerberus argued, a smug smile on his innocent little face. "Thanks, Daddy," he said with a childish grin. Oh, how Zeus loathed the creature.

        - - - - -"How did you manage to get so attached? I mean, I have hundreds of children and they're all losers to me. Yet this dog actually means something to you? Or is it all about that wife of your's?" the king added, twiddling his thumbs idly and eyeing his brother from his chair. He could practically see the fumes rising in Hades, as if he were completely ready to burst. This was just too much fun.

        - - - - -That was when their brother, Poseidon, made his appearance. He stepped into the room, felt the tension, then did a lovely little 180 swirl and walked out. Figures. The god of the sea always managed to avoid conflict.

        - - - - -"Oh, Daddy, quick, I got you something," Cerberus said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out something that smelled like Hell. "Oh fuck," Zeus said. The dog removed his hand, revealing the small dead bird. "I found it by the dumpster this morning. Thought you might like it," Cerberus said, a grin wide on his face.

        - - - - -To say the least, Zeus was disgusted. "I would zap this thing, but dead things are your area of expertise, Hades," he said, turning his head and glancing at the dead creature with a look of pure hatred.

        - - - - -"Anyway, it's important. It's about our nice. She's hanging around with that monster from the ocean and I don't like it."

Chimera assured Ash that her accidental run-in was no trouble, saying that he was always looking for an excuse out of the compound. He and her both. Chimera then offered to keep her company, which perked her up a bit, right before he got her name wrong. Oh. Ouch. Well, it wasn't like they really knew each other anyways. Maybe spending time in the cafe together could change that a little today.

Before Ash even got a chance to tell him that he was welcome to join her, or even correct him on her name, Chimera started to ramble and walk away. Wait, what? What was with this guy? He was cute, but... awkward.
"Um, wait! she tried, reaching out and gently taking the boy's wrist without even thinking. Once she realized what she did, however, she quickly dropped it. "Uh, I really don't mind. You joining me, that is," she said a bit quietly. Gods, she was a little awkward as well, wasn't she? She was just inviting a guy to sit with her, really, she had no reason to be embarrassed.

"Come on!" she said more confidently and cheerfully, taking Chimera's wrist again and gentle leading him into the cafe. "Oh, and it's Ashley, by the way, but please just call me Ash. Do you prefer Chimera or something else? I know some of the guys in your situation prefer different names," she started to ramble herself, feeling more comfortable now as she dragged Chimera to the counter.

          - - - - -Rose smirked when she noticed something on his face. Did he just blush? It was adorable, but she didn't comment on it. After all, she had no idea what he was blushing about. He could have just thought of something funny from Spongebob or something. She shrugged off the thoughts. Then she noticed something else. Did he just glance over her? She tried not to pay it much attention, though she could feel the heat flushing up in her cheeks. She'd be lying if she said she didn't feel something for Hydra, but he wasn't the type for anything like that, so she suffered in silence. Seeing him was, as far as she was concerned, the highlight of her Wednesday though.

          - - - - -Was she even supposed to think about him in a way like that? He was a multi-headed aquatic beast who could kill her with a single bite, but at the same time, he wasn't. She never saw him as a monster, but as a rather attractive, full-of-shit-confidence friend who meant the world to her. They made fun of each other - it was how they survived - but there was more to it than that. Or was there? She had no idea. She didn't know what she meant to him. Getting her hopes up was just kidding herself and she knew it.

          - - - - -"Huh, weird, since I didn't see you there," she said, raising her brows. He had slipped up on a word before that, but she didn't actually know what he was about to say, so she thought it best to corner him until he told her the whole truth. Hell, if he would tell her the whole truth, which she kind of doubted. He always tried so hard to be cool, but it was adorable when he got flustered over it. Sometimes, seeing that is what got the daughter of Poseidon through the fucking day.

          - - - - -"Ah, so you do think I'm sexy," she said with a grin. She couldn't help but laugh a bit afterwards, more at his wink than anything else. "Gods, you're a real dork sometimes," she said, affectionately punching him in the shoulder. His eyes were crystalline blue, something she'd taken note of once or twice, but they were never so bright as when he offered up a teasing smirk like in that moment. Of course, he wouldn't notice her staring. Rose was very good about hiding that kind of stuff. She had to be when her family was entirely Greek gods.

          - - - - -She took a quick bite out of her burger before pushing her plate to the side, done with her meal. She'd only taken three bites, but that was enough as far as she was concerned. To be honest, she really only showed up to this meal to see Hydra. Ordinarily, she skipped lunch. She had other, more important things to do. She had recruits to train - which was, by far, the worst part of her job - and fish to feed. 216 of them. "So, do you have any plans for the rest of the day, sexy?" She asked, a teasing confidence coming out on the last word. As far as Hydra knew, she was only joking with him and she'd do her best to keep it that way.

Hades didn't even bother to comment on Zeus's... sperm remark. His children were just about as obnoxious as he was, usually, and Zeus didn't even care about any of them, really. His brother just liked sticking his dick where it didn't belong. He still couldn't understand why Hera even stayed with him. Maybe it was because she was their sister. Hades shuddered at that. Insest; it was disgusting. Sometimes he felt like he was the only one that believed that.

Hades actually gave Cerberus a glance after the boy thanked him, giving him that childish grin that he pretended annoyed him. He even allowed the corners of his lips to twitch up slightly. Yes, Cerberus was quite the pain in the ass most times, but he did truly care for the so called "mutt." In a way, he was something like a son to him, especially in this form.

With that in mind, Zeus's next series of questions got him to return to his normal scowl.
"It doesn't matter what I think of him, or Persephone. He has a job in the underworld, and he does it well," he growled, making sure that his true feelings weren't voiced. He'd never hear the end of it if Zeus found out that he did deeply care for Cerberus.

It was then Hades spotted Poseidon who stepped in, spotted them, and did a complete 180. Hades almost called out to him for assistance, but thought better of it. His other brother would probably just run off anyways. He always hated being stuck in the middle of things, even though he was the middle child.

Hades looked back to Cerberus when his pet announced yet again that he got him something, but soon discovered that that something was definitely something dead. Cerberus showed him the body of a small, dead bird, explaining that he found it by the dumpster. Oh damn, this was not helping his case at all.
"Cerberus, put that thing away this instant! It smells ungodly," he snapped, growing annoyed with his pet.

Then Zeus finally began to discuss what he had originally came to discuss. Rose. Of course it was about Rose. His brother was so idiotic.
"Rose is allowed to spend her time with whomever she pleases," he stated, taking his niece's side like he usually did. She was one of the only family xxxxxxxmembers he really cared about. "Besides, Hydra has grown soft over the decades. He wouldn't dare think to harm her."

        - - - - -Hades didn't comment on Zeus's comment, so the thunder god emitted a triumphant smile. His brother knew he'd been beaten in that regard. Still, he was surprised when Hades didn't mention their sister, Hera. Zeus married her long ago and he really wished he hadn't. Gods, she was horrible. She was constantly nagging and all like Oh my god, you never do anything for me and stop sleeping with random women and, like, no. Okay? No. Zeus is the king of gods so he'll do whatever the fuck he pleases. Hera be dammed.

        - - - - -Cerberus, on the other hand, widened his eyes when he saw something twitch in Hades's features. Was he about to smile? If he had been in his true form, his tail would have been wagging, he was sure of it. He did good? He did a good job of guarding the underworld? His eyes widened even more, but he didn't dare speak, not with that death glare the thunder god was giving him.

"Whatever. I'm not going to pretend to understand you and your ways, brother," Zeus said, drumming his fingertips against the tabletop idly, sure to keep them away from the smelly carcass just inches away. "You like dead things, right?" Cerberus asked, eyes wide, but he did as his father asked him to. He picked up the corpse in his mouth before dropping it into his pocket.

Zeus's eyes flickered between the two. "Now that that's taken care of, onto more important matters," he said, listening to his brother's comments regarding the Hydra and the demigod. He rolled his stormy eyes. Zeus didn't know how he felt about Rose, but he had this overwhelming need to keep her away from monsters. There was no way a niece of his was going to get involved with anything less than the best. After all, he married for status, and became the fucking king of the entire world. "I don't trust her ability to protect herself, and she should avoid anyone that could lower her status further. I mean, she's already, by definition, an abomination," he said casually, as if he didn't just insult his own blood.

        - - - - -"Ambrose needs to know the consequences of hanging around lesser species, especially monsters like Hydra. My son killed his kind, you know?" Zeus added, wiggling his eyebrows. Of course he turned this into a brag call of sorts. It was very much like the thunder god. "Anyway, brother, you know Poseidon is terrified of his daughter and she won't listen to me. I'd like you to talk to her about this... incident. Get her to spend time with that other demigod or something," he suggested with a shrug.

          - - - - -Ares didn't think of himself as lucky. From his strength to his speed to his impeccable skill with a spear, he was a product of hard work and practice - of passion, though no one seemed to understand that. The son of Zeus was tired of being considered a brat with a lucky talent. Sure, he was gifted at birth, but that doesn't mean anything. Is artistic talent important without passion? Of course not, but that same rule doesn't seem to apply with war. It isn't merely violence or mindless killing, but an art form, one that he had mastered and, by no means, did it involve the luck of the draw.

          - - - - -It was this that he explained to his father before the thunder god, once again, turned his back on the god and took off. He had 'important matters' to discuss with his uncle, apparently. Ares rolled his eyes, but moved on. It he said he wasn't used to this by now, he'd be lying. Zeus was an asshole, there was no denying that. Still, Ares had the tendency to ignore those same flaws within himself. When he noticed how much like his father he was, he was so angry at himself that he was nauseated. His own mother wasn't much better either. Frankly, Hera was rarely around. Something about being sick of her brother-husband cheating on her? He learned to tune out her nagging long ago.

          - - - - -Ares held his spear in his hand, hands callused and nearly bleeding for the work he'd put in today. He didn't understand how a god couldn't spend so much time training. He didn't understand how they could be so peaceful. Frankly, he just didn't understand them. His siblings were horrible weaklings, if you asked him. And don't even get him started on that Athena bitch. Gods, she thought she was so much better than everyone. He could easily take her in a fight. She could beat him at a game of chess. In the real world, which is more useful? What an idiot.

          - - - - -His rage built for a bit - a common occurrence, despite the severity of the consequences - and he threw the weapon across the room, where it found its home in a random wall next to some new recruit's head. "And that, n00bs, is Ares. God of war," Randy said. Ares let out a grunt, ripping his spear from the wall to reveal a hole where it had made impact.

          - - - - -It was then that he remembered something. He had to go to the mailroom. Some kind of package was supposed to be in for him? He didn't know. So, the war god walked to said location, disgusted by the horrible compound he was confined to in the process. Upon arrival, he found Hermes - his not-brother - flustered over the fucking mail. What an idiot. "Hey, Herpes. I need my package."

Hydra wanted to fucking slap himself when Rose commented on the fact that she didn't see him at the gym. Of course she went to the gym. She always went to the gym. He should have just said he was chillin' at his lair outside the Underworld or something. Oh well, it was too late now. Rose already knew he was full of shit, as usual. Next time he's say Lerna. Next time.

Color returned to Hydra's cheeks when Rose teased back at him, saying that he did find her sexy. Um, no, because that's not cool. Or is it? Is it? He didn't know, humans were weird, and therefore, so were demigods. The punch on the shoulder also didn't help the fact that his cheeks were nearing red. She touched him. I mean, that happened sometimes, but still. His eyes locked with hers briefly before he looked away, getting more and more flustered, running a hand through his hair and clearing his throat.

When he looked back at Rose, it was just to see her take a bite of her burger and then push it away. Seriously, the girl wasted so much food, and that was a sin. Especially if it was meat. If it wasn't already obvious, Hydra really loved meat. After all, it was all he would eat at lake Lerna. He would eat fish and innocent creatures that happened to stumble by his lair. Plus there was the fact that Hades would sometimes feed him. After all, he lived right at the entrance of the Underworld. Sometimes Hades would just drop by after feeding Cerberus, Hydra would lift his many heads from the water, they'd stare at each other, Hades would throw him some scraps, they'd stare, and then Hydra would eat. While staring, of course. He had a silent respect for Hades, and he kind of served as extra protection for the Underworld. He knew Hades probably didn't give a shit about him, but hey, he gave him food, he had to like the guy.

Quietly and slowly, Hydra slid Rose's unfinished meal over to himself.
"I dunno," he shrugged in reply to Rose's questions about what he planned on doing the rest of the day, ignoring the fact that she called him sexy. "I might go back home for awhile, honestly. I haven't seen Lerna in weeks and it would be nice to stretch my heads." He grinned at himself, taking a bite of the hamburger he stole from Rose. It was weird having only one head at times, really. It truly would be nice to go back to Lerna for awhile. "What about you?"

Hades silently thanked the gods that weren't Zeus when the man said that he wasn't going to try to understand his ways. Good. Then Hades had to once again ignore Cerberus and his questions, but didn't miss his guard dog picking up the dead bird he had snatched for him with his mouth. Gods, he really was still a dog, even in this form. It was not only disgusting, but also quite embarrassing. He truly was the laughing stock of his brothers.

Hades listened to his brother's thoughts on Rose and Hydra, getting more and more angry with each statement his brother made. Not able to protect herself? Abomination? Lesser species? He talk to her about what? His brother was the biggest fool to ever walk the planet, and the worst part was, be basically ruled it. They were all truly doomed.

"Now listen here, brother," Hades hissed. "Ambrose is a grown woman who is more than capable to protect herself, and she can speak with whomever she pleases. Hydra may be a monster, but even he isn't dumb enough to slaughter the daughter of Poseidon, and the niece of Zeus and Hades." Hades took a breath. "Also, it's very funny that you should call her an abomination right before mentioning your son, Hercules, who, if I can remember correctly, Gods knows you've impregnated many women, also is a demigod," he pointed out, feeling rather smug. He hated the whole "status" thing that seemed to be so big among the gods. Gods were just as flawed as mortals or monsters, especially if they were Zeus. Actually, more so if they were Zeus.

Just like every day, it had been a stressful day for Hermes in the mailroom. When it wasn't "Hermes, mail this," or "Hermes, get that," it was "Hermes, teleport me here," or "Hermes, teleport this there," or "Hermes, just do fucking everything because you are the laughing stock of the gods." Well you know what? Fuck the gods, mail was very serious, and working in the mail room took a lot of work. Of course, all the other gods got to do whatever the hell they wanted to around here, but he was stuck having to do work. I mean, someone had to take care of the mail!

Hermes placed yet another letter into someones post box, mumbling to himself as he did so. No one understood the importance of mail. No one truly cherished it and the hard work that went into it to get everything sorted out. No one. Just him. Gods, he got so fed up with people and deities sometimes. Especially those little brat agents that thought they were so great. "Who the hell is Hermes?" "Wait, you're a god." Yes, he was a fucking god, thank you, and unlike that Zeus guy, he actually did useful shit other than fucking everything with a vagina!

As if things couldn't get anymore stressful or worse for Hermes, while he had his back turned, sorting through male, he heard the voice of one of Zeus's many children. Ares. Gods, that boy was such a little prick. "I'm Ares, and I'm the greatest! Athena be damned!" Hermes hoped those two would fight. Maybe one of them would get killed. Okay, no, that was really mean. Too mean... But hey, it would make his life a lot less stressful.

"It's Hermes," Hermes corrected the god of war after being called "Herpes." "Not like it matters," he added under is breath. He searched through the packages, finding Ares' and snatching it up. "Here, take care of it," he told the boy, handing him his package. "Anything else?" he forced out.

          - - - - -Hydra was outwardly frustrated when Rose told him she didn't find him at the gym. The demigod had him in a lie, but she didn't see the real need in pestering him about it. What was the point, really? In reality, it was just a victory trip to her and she knew it. Wisdom took over and she decided it was best not to press forward. So what if he wasn't in the gym? It's not like he was paling around with some other chick. Oh gods, was he? No, not Hydra. Not without the daughter of Poseidon knowing about it ahead of time, right?

          - - - - -Color rushed back to his cheeks when she punched him, which she honestly didn't expect. So he was definitely either blushing or choking on something. Or both. You never knew with him. She gave him a snarky half-smile and a shake of the head. That was when he locked eyes with her - his deep, ocean blue orbs intently focused on her own sea green ones - and she almost bit her lip with nervousness. Almost. She was better about controlling this. She had to be when dealing with monsters. She couldn't tell if she was blushing or not, but odds are, she was.

          - - - - -Gods, what was it about Hydra that made him so damn desirable? Was it just his appearance? No, that couldn't have been it. It had to be something more. Was it his sense of humor or just the fact that he paid attention to the demigod, not out of genetic obligation, but out of genuine interest? She gave up. It didn't matter. Hydra was a... well... a hydra. A beast with several heads that probably couldn't like her back. Even if she were the least bit desirable to him, she didn't think he actually cared about enough to take an interest in her. He was too fucking cool for school or whatever the idiot was calling himself nowadays.

          - - - - -Rose eyed her burger for a moment, truly deciding she didn't want it anymore. The girl never ate much - even as a child. Swimming kept her active, sure, but she needed to stay small in order to be fast. She still ate of course, it was just very, very, very small amounts. She was convinced her stomach was incapable of holding much more. When Hydra slipped her leftovers over to him, she nodded in approval. He had seven heads. He needed food and she didn't. The way she saw it, it worked out perfectly fine in the end.

          - - - - -"I think my uncles wanted me to meet them or something? I dunno. Zeus gave me a really weird message," she said with a shrug. She glanced up at him, taking a moment to really take him - well, the human "him" - in as he ate her burger: tall, raven black hair, ocean blue eyes, and a smirk that could make you melt. "Frankly, I will do anything, and I mean anything, to get the hell out of that," she said with a sigh. Then, a fabulous idea hit her. "Can I go to Lerna with you?"

        - - - - -Zeus scoffed at his brother, who was visibly growing angrier and angrier by the second. Jeez, sometimes this guy just didn't know when to calm the fuck down. Why was he so attached anyways? Rose didn't talk to either of them and Zeus was the only one who seemed to put forth effort into being a good uncle. Hades just lounged around, caring only for his wife and souls. The thunder god stuck out his lower lip in a pout. "Now brother, you and I both know that mere mortals are nothing against things like us." He shrugged his shoulders.

        - - - - -The way Zeus saw it, Ambrose was a small girl with minimal training and nothing more than a sword. She had no immortality to protect her and, in fact, she was more vulnerable than anyone else he could think of at the moment. Hydra, on the other hand, was a seven-headed monster with no real ability to feel but an affinity toward murder. Like hella murder. "Maybe not on purpose. I don't think he'd murder her or anything. But he could lose control or mistake her for a cookie or whatever monsters do when they fuck shit up," he explained with a roll of his eyes. Gods, sometimes Hades just missed the big picture. It was a good thing Zeus was here to rule the world.

        - - - - -"She is an abomination, brother," he said with a sigh. "The difference is that Hercules was a hero. He became a fucking god for being so awesome. Ambrose has accomplished nothing more than bringing trouble to herself," he added, scoffing at the underworld god's assumptions. Sometimes, he just ignored the facts. It was a good thing the thunder god was here to straighten things out. "What you forget is the importance of status. Without a respectable status, she is vulnerable. Weak. Poseidon would agree with me, I'm sure."

Hydra gave Rose a sour face when she mentioned her uncles wanting to have a talk with her. Bleh, family meetings. He had never had one, but he was certain they were gross and very uncool. Especially when that meeting included Zeus. Gods, Hydra reeeeaaally hated Zeus. I mean, one of his many, many kids slaughtered almost his entire species. He's the sole survivor (non-sarcastic thanks Hades). Hydra felt really bad sometimes about the fact that the biggest douchehole ever just happened to be Rose's uncle. Thank gods she was nothing like him.

Hydra took another large bite of Rose's hamburger when she asked if she could come with him to Lerna. He almost choked, quickly grabbing his cup of water and drinking a large gulp. She actually wanted to go to Lerna with him? She wanted to go to a giant, dark, dreary lake on the outskirts of the Underworld? Also, she did hear the part about him wanting to transform into his true form, right? Oh gods, he couldn't take her. He couldn't. What if she was horrified by what he actually looked like? He was a monster after all... Gods, no. He already had no chance of ever getting with her, but if she saw his true form he'd have a negative chance for sure!

He looked up at Rose, meeting her beautiful sea green eyes. She looked so excited and so hopeful and so, so beautiful. Gods, he couldn't resist her. He couldn't say no to that face. Lerna and his true form be damned!
"Sure. I mean, if you really want to," he finally replied. "It's kind of depressing, though, just as a warning. It's right outside of the Underworld, so yeah. We might also run into your uncle or aunt. It really depends," he started to babble before stopping himself. It would be fiiine. It would be fuuun. Maybe Rose wouldn't mind his true form all that much. Maybe. Hopefully. Unlikely.

By the time Zeus began to speak again, Hades was already past the point of being done listening to him. It really baffled him how Zeus couldn't hear how idiotic he sounded, or even see how idiotic he was. Hades literally only caught the last part of what his foolish brother had said, and he actually had to debate awhile about whether or not he should even acknowledge his brother's words. He got so tired of this sometimes.

"Status doesn't make you weak, Zeus," Hades sighed, placing his chin on the palm of his hand, drumming his fingers lazily on the table, ready to be done with this whole conversation. "And no one in their right mind would ever agree with you," he added before glancing over at Cerberus who had the accursed dead bird back out, plucking out it's feathers and placing them in his hair. Gods, he was surrounded by idiots.

"Well brother, as much as I have enjoyed this conversation, I believe I'll be on my way," he decided while getting to his feet. "Come along, Cerberus," he called out to the boy, snapping his fingers. "We're leaving."

          - - - - -Rose would be lying if she said she had nothing in common with her uncle Zeus, but she hoped she managed to inherit what few good qualities he had. Well, the thunder god was supposedly a good leader... was she a good leader? She chose not to dwell on it. Gods, she hated being compared to her family members. She couldn't think of anything more annoying than people making snap judgments about her because her father was Poseidon. Even if some of them were true. Okay, most of them were true, but that's totally beside the point.

          - - - - -The demigod chuckled as she saw her friend struggling to swallow his bite of burger. Did her idea shock him into choking himself? "Don't die," she said abruptly, though she knew he wouldn't. He was a seven-headed snake. The demigod was pretty sure he could handle something going down the wrong pipe. She reached over and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Are you okay?" she asked between subtle giggles. Note to self: Don't asks Hydra questions while eating.

          - - - - -Maybe it was her compulsive love of the ocean, but Rose was distracted when Hydra's deep blue eyes met her's. Momentarily, of course. She wouldn't allow herself to gush outwardly like anyone else would have. She grinned when he agreed to let her accompany him on his journey home. "Of course I really want to," she said with a smile. He then went on to warn her about the depressing atmosphere and it being so close to the underworld. "Depressing? I'm from Seattle. I'm pretty sure I can handle it," she said with a shrug and a chuckle. "Hmm, I actually haven't seen Persephone in a while," Rose admitted, tilting her head slightly. It's decided then. We should go soon. Should I bring my sword?"

Something hit Hydra somewhere in his chest when Rose replied with a "of course I want to go." Why did she want to go to his home so bad? Maybe she was just curious, but seriously, it was a super depressing place. Especially to someone who wasn't used to it like Rose. However, she didn't bothered by that at all, saying that she was from Seattle. Was he suppose to know where that was? Probably. Oops. Then Rose mention Persephone, deciding that now she must go and asking if she should bring a sword.

"Hm, I actually haven't seen Persephone in awhile either. She usually remains in the Underworld. She never really came outside much," he pondered, thinking about Persephone. She was so kind and gentle. Why did she marry the god of the Underworld again? Oh well, it's not cool to think of marriage. Marriage wasn't cool. His parents didn't get married, but then again, he never knew his parents. It was one of those "lay the eggs and stay with them till they hatch" sort of situations. "And as for your sword, I would. The creatures there don't usually take too kindly to unfamiliar faces. Or even just familiar places.... Everything is going to try to kill you, so yes, do that."

Hydra shoved a bit more food into his mouth, chewing quickly and swallowing before standing up. "So, ready to go? We have to swing by Hermes if you are." Gods, Hermes. Yet another deity he was confused by here. Who the hell likes mail that much? It's literally just mail. Oh well, the guy at least did one thing useful, which was teleport people to the worlds of the gods. Way to go, Pigeon, you do one thing useful.

          - - - - -Rose had been forced to read about the Greek histories and folklore. Hell, she was Greek folklore. She knew a few things about Hydra's home, but not enough to understand why he seemed so hesitant to show it to her. It was just dark and wet and stuff, right? And he lived alone, so they didn't have to worry about horrible neighbors. Well, there was her uncle's dog, but Cerberus wasn't bad at all once you got past the fact that he is a literal dog with thumbs. He seemed confused about something. Seattle, right. Hydra. Oops. She chastised herself inwardly. "Right, sorry. Seattle is a city where the sun hardly ever shines and it's constantly cold and rainy," she elaborated with a grin.

          - - - - -"Really? I wouldn't know. She and Hades don't exactly speak to me much. My uncle's always too busy with Zeus breathing down his neck," she said with a shrug. She felt something in the pit of her stomach at the thought that Hydra knew her relatives better than she did. Then again, he was a monster and she was a demigod. Demigods didn't usually have the best relationships with their families. Rose was lucky her father reached out to her at all before she was brutally murdered by furies or something.

          - - - - -Hades and Persephone had a relationship that didn't seem to make sense. At least, not at first. He, the somewhat twisted god of the underworld, kidnapped Persephone when she was a teenager and held her hostage, only to fall in love with her gentle, nature-loving spirit. That made sense, but then there was the matter of her uncle. How in the world did Persephone fall for someone as dark as him? Few people could answer this question, but Rose knew. Love was weird. But it was more than that. It was that Hades wasn't only a dark god who controls fear. He is a good uncle - a much better uncle than Zeus, she'll add - and was always good to Cerberus. The truth is, he just drew the shortest straw. He was a good guy, it was just hidden. At least she hoped that's what it was and that it had nothing to do with some kind of spell.

          - - - - -Oh, the creatures there. So he didn't live alone. Well, add that to the list of expectations Hydra seemed to defy - which was getting really long at this point. "They want to challenge a child of Poseidon in a giant lake?" she asked with a smirk. "I guarantee you I can handle that. But having my sword would be nice," she added with a smile. She watched him careful as he continued to dig into what was left of her burger. "I can handle myself, but the fact that you're there to back me up is nice," she said. "A demigod and a seven-headed snake? They don't stand a chance."

          - - - - -She stood up with him, nodding in agreement at his statement. "Yay, cousin Hermes. I hope he hasn't anxietied himself to death yet, poor guy," she said. Rose had no issues with Hermes and actually found his passion for mail quite amusing. However, she hated the toll it took on him sometimes. Everyone took him for granted and she didn't like it, but he didn't actually care about her in return. The gods rarely did that and none of her cousins took the time to acknowledge the blonde's existence. I should swing by the armory and grab Stormweaver."
