College is the best four years of your life, why not go to the best school in the country?
Pierce University is one of the few schools that could command the prestige of an Ivy League without being a member of the exclusive circle of universities. Pierce has called Hamptons home for the past 125 years, nestled into the surrounding beaches with enough land owned by the campus to get its own town created: Pierce, New York.
The student populace is nothing to laugh at either. While the school prides itself on extending their five star education to the financially less fortunate with plenty of scholarship opportunities, most of their student body consists of the expected heirs and heiresses. The children of politicians, actresses, lawyers, if they’ve got enough money and notoriety, they can find themselves with an acceptance letter. Plenty of rumors have circulated of bribery to get some poor performing students into the school, but without the proof to back it up, the board of trustees - composed of many of the students’ parents - adamantly denies it.
One of the most celebrated programs on campus is the Greek life organizations that call Pierce home. Many of their alumni remain active with school activities, and the school often attracts legacies who followed in the footsteps of their parents. The honor of joining the secret societies and wearing the Greek letters was something many of the students desired, leading to mass recruitment events each fall and spring. Many would not take on the mantle, whether by their own choices or choices of the groups they hoped to be recruited by. Still, the four organizations on campus had high recruitment numbers. They had the brainiacs with high GPAs to keep their group GPA higher, they had the student organization leaders to keep their campus engagement high. Quite frankly, looking to Greek life was looking at the best of the best (and anyone who didn’t meet those standards were hidden in the shadows of those who could, if they could manage to get in).
Recently, a string of incidents on campus has the public questioning the integrity of the Greek life organizations - and Pierce University in general. Most of the information was supplied by anonymous sources from the campus, which have been denied. But many tabloids and YouTube drama channels have circulated the allegations of bribery for admission and improvement of grades, inappropriate relationships between students and professors, even reports of hazing from the Greek life organizations which could have ended in hospitalization. Many wonder if the campus police has kept everyone in line, or has swept these incidents under the rug. Does the leadership at Pierce have more power than they claim? No one truly knows what is real and what is meant to tarnish the school’s polished history. Only the students involved would be able to answer for these supposed actions, and have remained quiet.
For now, Pierce has decided to remain active in the first few weeks of the new school year with plenty of welcome week events, including the fall recruitment week for Greek life. The Board of Trustees will have their eyes on the Greek life students, trying to keep the students in line to prevent any further rumors from spreading to the public and - god forbid - becoming true, but will they ever learn how to play nice?

x The Omega Chi brothers were the first Greek organization on campus. Many of the founding students that started in the first years of Pierce were Omega members. These are the boys you want to be if you want to be anything in life. Often from upper class families and legacies from their parents, the Omegas are the best of the best. Anything that doesn’t represent their stellar reputation is kept from the public eye. Many say that the hazing rituals for their new members - more commonly known as pledges - still go on today, despite the school’s and organization’s harsh rules against any kind of hazing. The fraternity is one of the smallest out of the three organizations due to their almost unattainable standards to join. This has only ignited a fierce rivalry with the other fraternity on campus, Delta Tau. While the two try to play nice at public events, everyone in the student body knows that the Omegas are seen as stuck up rich boys and the Delta Taus as scholarship kids who “shouldn’t even be at this school”. Their values are focused on leadership and community service, to be the pillars of society as they know it. The Omega colors are silver and navy blue.

x The Delta Tau Zeta brothers were one of the last Greek organizations to join the campus, but even in the last fifty years since their founding at Pierce, they have amassed a group of brothers that make them the second largest group on campus behind the Mu sisters. The Delta Tau brothers also pride themselves on having the best and brightest, no matter what background they come from. While this has caused the other groups to look down upon them, thinking themselves better than Delta Tau, the brothers have a bond that protects them from anything - including similar hazing allegations that Omega faces. These boys may be seen as the nerds, or bad boys, or the “losers of campus”, but they maintain a high GPA across the entire group and have fought tooth and nail to be at this school even with all their partying. And they even have a few rich boys in their midst, interested in the Omega Chis and choose the Delta Taus instead. Their values are focused on trust and friendship, to be the support their brothers all needed. The Delta Tau colors are black and burnt orange.

x The Gamma Gamma Gamma sisters followed the Omega Chi brothers onto campus only a few short years later, as the university wanted to have male and female representation for Greek life, even in the early days. These princesses have a similar reputation to the Omega brothers, and often coordinate events with their group rather than the other fraternity on campus, and this sorority in particular had a reputation of class and prestige that matched Pierce University well. They are no less prominent than the Omega Chi brothers with the families they came from and the wealth they achieved. There are stricter rules for sororities, especially around hazing and how they are to represent themselves to the public, so while rumors of misbehavior might come around, they are quickly stomped out. The sorority is known to judge potential new members from the way they talk to the way they dress, so a recent surge of “more eccentric” sisters with good grades and campus engagement have made their way into the sisterhood after receiving backlash on their recruitment standards. Their values are focused on loyalty and confidence, to be the backbone of their fellow sisters as they make their name. The Tri Gamma colors are pearl and lavender.

x The Mu Omicron sisters came to Pierce campus after their sorority counterparts, before the addition of the second fraternity. These sisters have more commonality with the Delta Tau Zeta brothers, welcoming those of the upper class and "scholarship students" alike. The sisters claim seriously studious women, the ones that party every night, it is a diverse range of women that call Mu Omicron their sorority of choice. Their rivalry with Tri Gamma is just as fierce as the one between the two fraternities, and sometimes the girls can be worse, especially the more "black sheep" of the Mu Omicron sisters. They may not be the best behaving group, but they are the largest group and keep a GPA competitive to the rest of the Greek life groups. They have to be careful with how far they let their trouble-making go, as there are plenty of nasty rumors spread around campus, especially by the male population of students. Their values are focused on scholarship and accountability, to be the voice of the student body that will call out the injustices. The Mu Omicron colors are gold and coral.
