Introduction

Humans. That's what we are. Well, most of us.

Image
noun; of a manifestation or event attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature.

That's us. We, the group of people with superhuman, or supernatural, abilities, are alive and real.

We are human, just like you. We walk the streets with you, we buy bagels like you, we fuck, just like you. We go to school with your children, we are friends with your lovers, we marry you.

Now, we just want to be who we are in public. No more hiding, no more falsehood. We exist, not just in the pages of a comic book, but in real life. And we are tired of world governments snuffing out our existence and placing us at no greater importance than test subjects and lab rats. We aren't mutants, monstrosities, or freaks. We are humans with an evolved gene that allows us greater powers than normal humans.

We are a movement. We are a people. We are Humanly.

hey there, your friendly GM here.

This is more of an organized set of ideas rather than a formulated plot, so cooperation and idea formation is key on your part. Basically, there's a group of people under the name of Humanly. These people are of all demographics, but are united under one common trait: supernatural abilities. These range from water manipulation, to reality warping, even creation and destruction.

Once we get past the splice of life posts, this is a group fighting against discrimination and for their rights. We will see these people hated by society unless they keep their abilities private. We will see people taken by government agents and tortured until death, or trained to become soldiers against their own kind. As such, we will have three groups!

COLOR CODE: β•‘Openβ•‘; β•‘Reservedβ•‘; β•‘Takenβ•‘

ONE: the Humanly. AKA, people with powers that aren't under the government's control. These people range from the most powerful beings on the planet to the everyday power people. Some have a strong grip on their powers, some isolate themselves to keep people from danger. Either way, they're power people, and that's what the Humanly are.

Image"Elli, you know I love a date with you anytime, but I have to work tonight." Barbie giggles over the rim of her Brunello di Montalcino at the man in front of her. Elliott "Elli" Price rolls his eyes but calls the waiter over for the bill anyway, sighing dramatically. He's always been a bit of a drama queen.

However, like the gentleman he is, he wraps his suit jacket around her bare shoulders and walks her out to the car. He always drives her on their dates, and makes sure to take her to work, usually even picking her up after. But tonight-

"Barbie, could you get Enoch or one of the girls to take you home? The election's coming, and I have so much paperwork-"

Since day one, Elli has always been very ambitious, and has always had the skills to back it up: charming, persuasive, daring, and a natural leader. City councilman is only the first step for a man like Elli, and if Barbie wasn't so in love with another, she could be his trophy wife, living in the lap of luxury with a man who spoils her more than she could ever spoil herself. Everyone needs someone who realizes how special they are and acts on it.

"Hey, don't sweat it, El, I'll figure it out. I'm a big girl." Barbie teases him with a goodbye kiss as he drops her off at the door of Bottom's Up. He always makes sure not to be seen, because he's one of the few councilmen with a good name. If only they saw the Elli Barbie saw in bed. But he's not the only one with a few secrets.

Like Barbie. Barbie only works at the strip club when she really needs the money.

Sometimes.

Other times, well, Barbie just wants to have a little fun. And having fun is what Bottom's Up is all about. Tonight, they are hosting two bachelor parties, one at nine, and one at twelve, and Barbie is lucky enough to be scheduled on the nine bachelor party, so she'll be able to spend her time through the night.

"Only Barbara "Pearl" Molly would like an early bachelor's party." One of her co-workers, Emily "Candy" Madison, teases as Barbie sways into the dressing room.

"And only Emily "Candy" Madison would want to work it with me." Barbie calls back, winking at the other girl. Four nursing uniforms are laid out for each girl working the bachelor party. One of them, meant for Barbie, has a note pinned on the breast: I want the blonde one for my friend Jarek. He's not really into these things so she can show him a good time. Barbie huffs, unpinning the note from her uniform and slowly sliding into it. Must be a former customer coming in for more, because Barbie isn't that kind of girl for just anyone. "You know it's that man that works for Councilman Price, right? The one that came in the last time you work. He's pretty frisky, are you up for that?" Emily chats idly, blushing her cheeks with the hand of a professional. "Oh no, he's yours tonight. He asked me to help out a friend of his who's 'not really into these things', which really means that he thinks he's too good for a dirty stripper." Barbie mocks the note and the man she's never met.

At 9:15 the strip club is suddenly full of hollering men reduced to boys in the sight of half-naked women. "We're here for the party!" One of the men whoops, plopping down very ungracefully into one of the booths. Barbie can tell who her specialty is reserved for upon looking at the group. "See blondie in the corner?" Barbie whispers to Emily as they saunter over to the group, "He's the one, you know how I know? He's the only one who doesn't have his eyes glued to one of the dancers." Emily makes a mental note and starts toward the man of the night, blinged out in a crown and a large plastic gold necklace that reads 'Bachelor'. Barbie makes sure to swing her hips extra slow as she sways over to her man, Jarek. He's a looker, that's for sure. He has those blue-green eyes that Barbie's a sucker for, and soft blonde hair. He might even be the burliest one there, and stands out from the pack of brunette men who surely peaked in high school.

"Hey there, darlin'. My name's Pearl, and you must be Jarek. You're friend over there asked me to check you out." Barbie purrs, sitting on his lap. His pose is relaxed but it's obvious to a vet like her that he doesn't belong here. And he knows he doesn't belong here, judging by the shocked look on his face. "Are you feeling a little blue? Let me know whatever I can do to help." Barbie whispers seductively in his ear.

ImageThe man makes some comment to her but she tunes him out to read his body signals. With one seductive glance and a bit of fancy lap-work, she'd have him, surely.

And that she did. The simple gyration and eye contact motivated a flurry of lips as Barbie found her way in. Her could taste her own cherry lip gloss after a few minutes of constant making out. There's certainly more going out, especially with the way Barbie moves her body, and she breaks from him to figure out where this is going. "As much fun as this is, gorgeous, I'm wondering if you have anything... else, in mind." Barbie tempts the man, drawing her hand up his chest, motioning with her eyes toward a side-room.

Oh, this is going to be a fun night.

”See you tomorrow?”

”Yeah Spence. See ya.” Enoch answered distractedly, shoving paperwork inside his top drawer before practically dragging himself to the elevator. There had been some problems with the printing for the next day, and of course Enoch was the one they called to solve it. He didn’t mind doing it, but hadn’t been able to get to headquarters all day.

The night air was cool outside, and Enoch took a deep breath. Checking his watch, he figured there was still time to drop by and train, even if there was no one there. It was Barbie’s working night, so it would probably be empty, and he could even put on some music. He smiled at that idea and started walking towards the car. You know what else could relax you?, he though, but quickly shook the idea. He had a pack of smokes in the glove compartment, but had already smoked twice today.

It started raining a little before he could get in and turn the key. The drops taped on the glass, the car smelled like warm leather and Ella Fitzgerald sang quietly from the stereo. This was going to be a good night.

From the Journal, it was about a 15 minute ride to HQ, which was right next to Enoch’s place, so he parked in his own garage and went upstairs to get some fresh training clothes. A white tank, sweatpants and running shoes, which he put on, then headed to the neighboring parking garage. As discrete as he was, it would still seem a bit unusual if anyone was in the streets; the tall man walking alone into a parking garage through the "exit only" passage, past mid-night, carrying nothing but a change of clothes. But he had to be somewhere. After he was in, Enoch headed to the elevator which was further away from the entrance. It seemed like a service elevator, larger and older than the other two, and a small sign on the wall next to it stated STAFF ONLY. The red light turned on as he pressed the button and waited for it to arrive.

Once inside, he stared a bit tiredly at the buttons. One of them had a small bell drawn on it, signalizing an alarm. It’s not gonna be very useful to train today, really. But I need some fun for once, he though as he carefully removed said button. Under it, there was another one, a smaller, black button, which he pushed. Immediately, part of the chromed surface of the elevator slid, revealing a square surface, gleaming with a white light. Enoch placed his hand on the detector, and after a few seconds, the light turned blue. He proceeded to push the button with the β€œ-2” symbol on it and lowered him self until his face was immediately in front of the detector while elevator moved. It stopped, and the small part of the elevator slid further, revealing another button, a blue one, right next to where his face was. With a slight squint, he pressed that one too, causing a the blue light to extend into a triangle shaped beam. This was the worse part. The light reached his right eye, the base of the beam adjusting to the size of it. It didn’t hurt, but it was a foreign feeling.
The elevator doors opened with a loud thud and Enoch sighted in relief, the more open space the better. As he walked out, a familiar voice - that never failed to surprise him - echoed through the room.

”Citizen 73149901. Hello, Biohazard, and welcome! Have a good night”

It was Levi’s voice. The intonation was a bit different in all of the personalized bits, and he sounded cheerful, almost excited. Enoch felt a cold sensation run through his arms and legs, making the hairs on the back of his neck stand up and bringing a bright, tender smile to his face.

”Thanks, kid. It’s nice that you’re around.” He said quietly, and hoping he was.

The second underground floor consisted in less, but larger rooms then the other levels, located on both sides of a extensive and wide corridor. Most of them had large acrylic walls, so you could see the inside as soon as you entered this floor. Enoch walked slowly, the lights turning on automatically as he passed, until he reached the physical training room. It was divided in several stations for different kinds of training, with different equipment, including a ring, workout equipment, etc. Enoch always stuck to the mid section, where all the boxing equipment was. Since no one was around and, at that time of night, it was basically impossible for anyone to be anytime soon, he changed into his workout clothes right there, leaving his white shirt, sweater and slacks, which were now a bit humid from the rain, on a corner on the floor. Although cold, it felt good to be a little more free and comfortable, which lead him to also remove his shoes and lazily stretch his body. Barefooted and once warmed up, he approached one of the five blue leather punching bags close to the wall and started punching, first lightly, but stronger with each hit.

While Enoch had serious issues with powers that had a large range of capacity, he was practically unbeatable on physical combat. Not only this is how his powers worked best, his fighting skills were also amazing. He was never especially strong or coordinated, no; but he was fast, and unpredictable. As he skillfully worked his way around the bag, his feet rapidly leaving and touching the floor, the object didn’t seem to move even the slightest. Anyone could tell, by the look in his eyes, by the sweat traveling down his forehead, by the tenseness on his back he was extremely concentrated.

After little less than two hours, he laughed out, threw a sloppy final punch that made the bag swing wildly, and fell to the floor, sweaty, giggling, exhausted. ”You always leave half of your legs unprotected, y’know? If I could kick, you’d be screwed” He remember Spencer telling him when he was younger. He closed his eyes and concentrated on his legs. They were sore, warm, and hopelessly unprotected. Somethings never change. Do I really have to get up?, he thought, running his hands through his wet hair, pulling it away from his face.

ImageAs regular humans go, Levi only as a few he can call friends.

Caroline Dunn, a curly-haired waitress who had a superpowered brother that was kidnapped, and Jordan Ringley, Caroline's sassy girlfriend who owns the antique shop Levi works at and a superpowered person that had her powers taken from a government experiment.

No, not all of Levi's human friends are related to superpowered people.

But the best of them are.

Tonight is supposed to be a night off from the Humanly and the world of super powers and trying to save the world. Tonight, Levi is just Levi, hanging out with a few friends. Jordan and Caroline invited him and a couple of their friends for some quality hanging-out time, which Levi hasn't had since... well, since Lacey was kidnapped.

"Jordan, you know I don't drink anymore." Levi scoffs at his friend, trying to deny the tempting shot glass in front of him. One of their friends is a well-known bartender around D. C. and is showing off his skills with alcohol. And as much as Levi is supposed to stay away from alcohol, due to family and personal alcoholism, he downs the shot without too much protesting. "See Levi, this is the problem with you. You say you don't drink anymore, but when I give you a kickass drink- thank you Ricky, by the way- you take it." Jordan teases the younger boy, ruffling his hair and replacing the empty shot glass with his favorite beer.

Jordan isn't just his boss, but a high school drinking buddy. They've known each other for years, and she knows his alcohol choices more than anything else about him. "Okay, but this is it! I don't even live around here and I need to drive home." Levi is strict with his words, but not with his mouth.

The beer is definitely not the last drop of alcohol to grace his lips.

Bartender Guy proposes a few drinking games, and Jordan continually calls Levi a wuss until he joins in. "Come on, Lele!" Jordan whines using her favorite nickname, "even Caroline the prude is playing." Caroline gasps, turning to her girlfriend with an angry gaze, but Jordan kisses her anger away until all ten of the guests are at the table.

"I'm not sure if you want me playing, Jordy, you know how much of a badass I am at drinking games." Levi challenges the black-haired woman, sitting across from her with a devious glare in his eyes, and a bit of beer goggles. "Okay, this is like Never Have I Ever, but instead of ten fingers, we're just going to keep going until someone's smashed. Preferably Caroline." Jordan laughs, getting another glare from her curly-haired girlfriend. Contrary to that belief, it wasn't Caroline, though she was close. It was Levi. Levi is a giggly, drunken mess by the end of their game, taking shots for every experience he'd missed out on. Some people may think that Levi's done everything and everyone, but in reality, he hasn't had any kind of intimacy since his junior year of high school and he spent most of his days drinking and getting high at home. He didn't really do much, quite honestly.

Jordan seems to realize a little too late that Levi really didn't need to get drunk tonight. "Hey, Lele, baby, look at me," the drunken man, looking more like a kid in his state, has a hard time concentrating both of his eyes on Jordan, "can I give you a ride somewhere? Your apartment or something?" Jordan isn't exactly the most sober, the bartender is the most sober out of all of them, but even he's a little buzzed.

"Don't you worry... your pretty little head, Jordy. I can walk with my own two feet." Levi giggles, patting her cheek then making an effort to get out of the seat he's been in for an hour now. It doesn't go that well. He pushes away any form of help, laughing at his own expense, and manages to walk over to the door without much swaying or wobbling. Caroline and Jordan look at him with worry in their drunken eyes. "I am a slightly drunk... incredibly drunk man who is going to take a walk, and there's nothing you two cheeky things can do about it." Levi opens the door and walks out, shutting it with his body weight. He sits there for a second, thinking slowly about where he can go, and realizes that the Humanly headquarters is like, a block away.

That's a lot of walking, he thinks to himself as he sets out on his mission to make it there. One foot in front of the other, that's all he has to do, until he makes it there.

"Lele, just stay here for the night!" Jordan calls out, watching Levi drunkenly stagger down the sidewalk towards an unknown location.

ImageUpon reaching Humanly HQ, he wanders through the empty ground floor of the parking garage until he can remember where exactly he's supposed to go. The elevator, right.

Levi pounds on the door without noticing the blinking lights that would let him in if he pressed them. "Hello? Anyone? This door doesn't have a handle! How am I supposed to get in?" Levi sounds ridiculous, but hey, he's drunk, he can't help it. He slides down the elevator door, slumping against it. This would be a nice place to sleep. Sleeping is nice, Levi thinks dreamily. He is half-asleep when the door slides open, leaving him to fall on his back and halfway in the elevator room onto a certain young man's feet.

"Wha? Oh, Enoch! Hey man, what's happenin'?" Levi giggles, picking himself up off the floor with a dangerous swaying to his body. Levi falls onto Enoch, letting him catch his body weight. Enoch smells so nice, and his shirt is so soft, it makes Levi sleepy again.

Yeah, sleep would be good.

Enoch laid there for about ten more minutes until he could steady his breath and started to feel cold. He had woken up late, but still he felt exhausted, and a shower was the only thing on his mind right now. Maybe I’m getting sick or something he thought, trying to figure why so little exercise had left him this way. But he also felt a certain satisfaction. Picking up his clothes from the ground, he dressed his white shirt on top of the tank, unbuttoned, and put shoes back on his feet before leaving the room. His cellphone was still on the front pocket of his slacks, so he checked the time. It was just before three in the morning; he had completely lost track of time.

As he left the room, the lights behind him slowly started to deem, the floor turning darker as he approached the elevator, until the only light on was the one on the elevator room. He reached his hand to press the button, but before he could, he heard a loud sound coming from the inside. His heart skipped a beat. Someone was pounding hard on the door from the inside. A muffled voice also echoed inside, but Enoch couldn’t understand what it was saying. Carefully, he approached the door. Who could this be? At this time of night, someone who knew how to get there but couldn’t open the doors… Enoch was tired, alone, an unarmed, but something told him it didn’t matter, that he, particularly, was under no risk. The noises stopped. He pressed the button.

The doors opened and a dark figure landed on the ground, by his feet, with a loud thud. At first, Enoch was surprised and took one step back to maintain stability, but as soon as he heard the groggy β€œWha” that left Levi’s lips, he let out a half relived, half confused sigh.

β€œShit, you scared mβ€”β€œ Levi crashed into Enoch’s body before he could finish. Damn. Enoch struggled to get him in a position where he could properly hold him, carefully placing Levi’s head on his shoulder. When he giggles, Enoch can feel his warm breath again his neck. And oh Lord, what a breath. However concerned, he couldn’t help but laugh a bit. β€œGod Levi, you smell like a sewer. Or my uncle Bart.”

But Levi wasn’t listening to him; his eyes were closed and he was drooling a bit on Enoch’s shoulder. Without seeing any possible reason why Levi would have anything to do at HQ, this late, and this drunk, Enoch held him a bit tighter and slowly backed him up back in the elevator and pressed ground floor. His sweater fell to the ground, but he decided to leave it there. He could get it tomorrow.

Enoch laid Levi against the elevator wall and held his arms while staring at him for a minute. He wasn’t sure wether to scold him about drinking again or to laugh about it. After all, he was basically laughing in his sleep - or whatever that noise he was making was. But he decided they could talk tomorrow; tonight, he was just happy he was ok and with him. Well, kinda.

β€œLevi man, wake up. Don’t fall asleep, okay? Talk to me. Why on earth did’ya come here?” The elevator dinged signalizing they had arrived, so Enoch put Levi’s right arm around his shoulder and basically dragged him out. The only thing harder than carrying around someone on the verge of passing out is carrying someone who is equally wasted and walks with a limp. Just as they left the parking garage, Enoch realized he had left his car home and, well, he was sure Levi did not drive there. With a loud dissatisfied sigh, he slowly started to make his way to his place, which didn’t seem that close with sore limbs and all the extra weight. β€œMy place is right there, so we’re gonna go there, ok? Now, tell me about your night out. Apparently you had an awesome time.”

It took them about 15 minutes to get to Enoch apartment, but they eventually did it. He lived on this really tiny two story house that had a kitchen, two bedrooms, one bathroom and the living room, which was all he really needed. As they walked in and turned on the light, tripping over each other, a loud screeching was heard and Enoch felt a set of tiny, yet sharp claws scratching his calves. Thank God he wasn’t wearing shorts.

β€œSorry mate” he apologized to the strangely colored cat at his feet, who now grumpily went to sit under his center table. β€œYou wanna go lay down or do you wanna shower first? I could get you some fresh clothes” he smiled discretely at the thought of Levi wearing one of his shirts. He carefully sat him down on the couch, smiling awkwardly at his own situation before entering the kitchen to get Levi a glass of water.

It wasn't odd for Smack to be making rounds around the training area of the facility, because it was basically the only thing she ever did. Whenever she trained it kept her busy, and being busy meant her mind was also busy, and when her mind was busy it meant she didn't have to think about how caged she felt.

Take in a deep breath she decided that she would get a few punches in at the punching bags while waiting for some trainee or two that might come to her for some assistants. At this point she was training ten to twenty trainees a day, at this point it was her daily routine and also her job given to her basically by the ring leaders of the Mutant Project. Of course when she trained other it was just making herself strong, which she enjoyed.

With a deep breath in her lungs she brought her left fist back then punched the bag at full force, then her right hand, left hand, and right again until it became a smooth pattern of rhythmic hits.

Lacey was not amused by her predicament. In fact, she was still infuriated, an entire week later, and she made damn sure that anyone who was near was aware of it. She would consistently slam the bottom of her foot against the steel door to her...room, knowing that the guards in the hall could hear. She would let out loud, exaggerated breaths. She would flip off the camera that seemed to always be watching her in the left corner of the steel colored room. And she damn sure would snap at whoever came in the room, even going so far as to try to run past the man and woman that brought her first meal for the day. It didn't work and left her with a still stinging cheek from the sharp backhand the guard served her, but she knew she was getting under somebody's skin. Even if it meant she wasn't getting out any time soon, she was doing something.

"I'm boooooored," she yelled through the open rectangular space that sat high upon the steel door. She didn't know whether to call the room she resided in a cell or an actual room, but at least she had a bed and not a cot. Lacey probably would have went off it was the latter. She knew one of the guards, Vincent, probably rolled his eyes at her exclamation and she trudged closer to the door, banging her fists against it in a lackluster fashion. "Come on, already! Let me out! Train me or something, or is your job really as boring as standing outside of a door because if that's the case then you're more pathetic than I - "

There was an sharp click to the lock and Lacey flinched at the sound, taking only a step back as it swung open to reveal the six-foot-three frame of the guard she spent her every waking second antagonizing, his dark gaze fixed on her face. She met his stare, unimpressed. A beat later, and the large gun he seemed to always carry flicked outward and Lacey stuck her hands out, grinding her teeth in irritation at the sound of metal clinking and the way the cold handcuffs seemed to be tighter around her tiny wrists. "Asshole," she muttered in discontent and he only shoved her forward. Soon, they were on the same journey they went on every day to the training facility.

Once a small part of Lacey's steam had left her (and it literally was only a day because there was only so much of a temper tantrum she could throw until there was no other way to destroy the practically bare prison she was given), two guards had snatched her up and thrown her into the training facility. Naturally, because Smack - and she was still trying to figure out how anyone would think to name another being that, of all things - could probably break her with a pinky and her eyes closed, Lacey returned to her cell extremely sore. However, she was entreated to return every day as a part of some "recruitment" as some of the others had said. It was stupid and if Lacey didn't already want to be stronger, she would have tried rebelling. But it was hard to rebel when even the geek who looked like a string of spaghetti could lift you like you were a grain of sand. So, she dealt with it and with Smack, who was scary as hell, yeah, but equally...interesting. And not entirely bad. At least, that's what Lacey liked to tell herself.

When she entered the room, Smack was already beating her soul into a poor, defenseless bag and Lacey tried not to grimace at, well, the sheer brutality of it. There was grace, yes, and something smooth, easy even about the way Smack moved. But she was deadly, that much Lacey was constantly reminded of. She didn't say anything at first, simply raising her wrists so that she could be released from her captivity. Vincent only glared once at her before heading for the door and Lacey made sure to flip him off. Finally, she turned her attention back to Smack, licked her lips dryly, and took a few more careful steps into the room. "So, is this gonna be the part where you have me flat on my back again or...?"

Aw, Lacey came a fake sympathetic sigh in Smack's mind. Lacey wasn't the strongest trainee under Smack's watch, but she certainly had potential and tried harder than most did. Normally the fiery fighter couldn't stand anyone she taught, mainly because they never actually tried, they more or less just threw a punch here and a kick there. On the other hand Lacey actually did attempt to fight Smack and for the most part surprisingly held her own... kind of. Smack couldn't contain her laugh at Lacey's remark.

"You're tougher than you think, one day you'll have me pinned to the floor... but today is probably not that day." Her chuckle grew in size as she let her hands fall to her sides. Walking over to the girl she gave a smile, which came off more sadistic than she meant to. "I have years of training unlike you, so of course I'm going to be a tad bit stronger." Smack brought her hand up and placed it on Lacey's shoulder in an attempt to be somewhat less menacing. "It's no secret you hate this place," scuffing she removed her hand from the girls shoulder and rolled her eyes playfully, "oh gosh all your loud groans and pestering kicking on your door. I hope you're aware that half the staff wants you dead and I'm the main reason they're keeping you alive."

Ending her last sentence she knew it was time to get to work, even though she wouldn't have minded talking a bit longer. Smack knew how important it was to train this girl well and that is what she planned on doing. "Instead of me beating your ass today how about we just work out? No point of fighting if you have no muscle to back it up." Smack walked over to the weights waiting for the other girl to follow.

As soon as Lacey heard Smack's laughter, she glowered at the taller female. Some of the other mutants thought the sound could be pretty menacing, especially when Smack gave them a smirk afterwards. It usually spelled trouble for one of them, particularly one of the hot shots who thought that today was the day they were going to actually land a blow on one of the Mutant Project's strongest weapons. They were always wrong and Smack had that same damn laugh. Luckily for Lacey, she didn't mind that sound too much. Cocky much, she thought grumpily when Smack confirmed her weakness. Not that Lacey needed to be reminded of that, she wanted to intone petulantly. She still had the healing bruises to prove it.

Still, Smack wasn't being as mean as her countenance had made her seem only a few moments prior and while the hand on her shoulder wasn't exactly comforting, it was enough to make Lacey only cast her a weary look instead of a biting remark. Luckily, Smack was moving away soon after, and so was her hand, and Lacey shifted on her feet uncomfortably. She could still feel the cool imprint of Smack's touch on her practically bare shoulder. However, she didn't have time to concern herself with body contact because another sound of amusement seemed to escape the "super soldier" as she reminded Lacey of how obvious her distaste of the facility was. It didn't make the hacker feel inclined to feel guilty for her actions. In fact, it made her smirk lightly but Smack's back was to her by that point. She was pissing everyone off. Good.

Once Smack started moving away, Lacey waited a minute before following, knowing there was no point in not going along with what Smack said to do. It was either that or being dragged back to the same four walls from before, and she definitely didn't want that. "Sure," she intoned wearily, eyeing the various equipment in the room idly. She offered the taller woman a forced cheery smile while inquiring sarcastically, "And what would you have me do first? Cough up a lung? Oooh, break my arms!?" Neither of those things sounded good in any way, but it definitely was how she felt every time she worked out with Smack and she didn't doubt that this session would leave her feeling the exact same way.

"If you don't stop whining I'll break your arms instead of the weights." Of course the intimidating brute wouldn't do such a thing without reason, and so far she didn't have one. "Working out is fun, exercising has the same chemical effects as sex." Her statement was more of a guess than a fact, but the sureness in her voice didn't let that have a chance to show.

Glancing over at Lacey, Smack quickly picked up a dumbbell and lightly threw it in her direction while making sure not to actually hit her with it. "Gosh, pick up your pace girl. With this lack of enthusiasm the directors will never let you live another week." Even though the statement was entirely true she made it sound almost as a joke, mainly because she wouldn't allow the girl to be killed. Smack didn't necessarily care an awfully big amount about the sack of potatoes she was basically trying to train, but she did care a lot about The Humanly. They may have been her enemy, though she had a deep regard for them because her old friend had.

"What I just threw at you is called a dumbbell, eh makes me kind of think of you, dumb and beautiful," after making the simple joke Smack grimaced at how horribly she had delivered it "ugh ignore what I just said. Anyways, that one ways twenty pounds. Get another one, that way you have one for both hands. Do five reps of fifty for both arms." As she spoke to Lacey, Smack picked up dumbbells for herself; both were fifty pounds and she began her own reps.

Lacey offered nothing more than a half-hearted glare in Smack's direction, but knew better than to not believe the threat. Smack hadn't done her any real harm since her capture, but that didn't mean she couldn't. She was just getting closer to the brunette when her comment on the similarity between sex and exercising, and Lacey almost guffawed, eyes near comically wide and mouth dropping open for a second because, wait - did Smack just try to make a joke? And two, she couldn't even find it in her to refute the statement because well, she had never had sex and exercise was a rare thing for a chick who spent the majority of her time in front of a computer. Still, Smack's confidence in her statement made Lacey more curious about the brunette than she actually wanted to be.

Smack still intrigued Lacey, despite the way her seeming coldness threw the hacker off initially. There was this ostensible dichotomy between the rumors surrounding Smack and her involvement with the Mutant Project, and how she acted when she was training Lacey. Was she intimidating? Of course, especially when she threw a dumbbell in Lacey's direction. And yes, of course Lacey knew what a dumb bell was. Not that dumb, she wanted to say, but it didn't come out. Was Smack also cold? Lacey didn't doubt it. Dangerous? Of course. But was she...evil? That much Lacey couldn't tell.

So caught up in her musings, Lacey was absolutely caught off guard by Smack's comment about the dumbbell...which also happened to be a compliment? Whether or not she chose for it to happen didn't matter for immediately after, Lacey's eyes widened even more and heat rushed to her cheeks, causing the diminutive brunette to tinker with the weight in her hands idly. Its slight heaviness and Smack's demand didn't make Lacey move immediately. It made her miss the outside world. The cafΓ© she faithfully ordered a caramel mocha latte from every day because she would help the owner's daughter with homework. The skateboarders who decided to bounce off her van for the hell of it. Levi, Barbie, Enoch, Chelsea, Aslaugh - her freedom. She missed it all and it made her want to throw the stupid dumbbell to the ground. But Smack began her reps and Lacey sighed, walking over to get her second weight and beginning her reps as well. She had to play along with this for now. At least, until she found a way to get out.

"Seriously, you guys suck."

Jarek knew he was going to go out with his friends tonight. He was thinking maybe they would go and hit a new movie. Or maybe play the newest First-Person Shooter while ordering a truckload of Mountain Dew and Doritos. Heck, maybe even going to a sports bar, order some buffalo wings and yell at the TV screens as if the athletes could hear them. But nooooooooo... Bruno had other plans, especially when he found out that Jarek had never been to a strip club. He did try to fight back but he didn't want to hurt anyone.

Jarek really wasn't looking forward to this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10 Minutes Earlier

Jarek pulled up to his buddy's house and exited his black Infinity, looking forward to releasing some steam Jarek made his way into Bruno's house. Bruno was well off because of his parents. Jarek never asked but as far as he knew they had some political power in the local government. Bruno was sure to use this as he found trouble in his life. Jarek really wasn't sure how they became friends but it was probably because of how opposite these two were.

It was quiet as Jarek entered, he thought to himself that maybe he was late because their cars were outside. Maybe they already headed to a sports bar or something. As Jarek went for his phone Bruno revealed himself as he stepped out of a hall and exclaimed,"Welcome Jarek! Have we got some plans tonight! As he said this 4 of Bruno's friends gathered around Jarek making him feel a bit uncomfortable, he found himself clenching his fists but he remembered that these were his buddies not enemies, so he relaxed.

Jarek sighed,"It looks like I wont be wiping the floor wit yall in Battlefield 7, does it? Bruno gave a huge smirk,"Games are for kids! Tonight we are going to make you a man! I've heard you've never been to a gentlemen's club, guess that's gonna change!" Jarek started to step back,"You guys know that's not my style, if I want to see a girl naked its because of my charm. Not because some one paid them! Well, I will let yall go on your marry way and I'll go and hit a movie or something." As Jarek turned around someone placed a canvas bag over his head and he felt all the guys jump and constrain him. Jarek thought about fighting back but he did want to give them a struggle. As he tried to gain distance from his "buddies" he felt metal wrap around his wrists and heard a slight click. Someone just shoved handcuffs on him. "Seriously?!" He yelled. With much hollering the guys shoved and pushed Jarek into someone's SUV.

"Seriously, you guys suck."

Bruno replied,"Awwww, don't be like that Jare-Bear! I just want to do something good for you! Trust me you'll thank me later! We have hooked you up good tonight! "Gee, thanks guys!" Jarek sarcastically said,"But is the hood and handcuffs necessary? I'm not that kinky!" This wasn't the first time Jarek was constrained like this, the last time their was a ton of blood and bruises but tonight it seemed like it was going to be booze and boobs. Definitely not his thing. Bruno pulled off Jarek's hood and gave him an ugly looking smirk, he brandished a key from his pocket and unlocked the handcuffs. Jarek rubbed his wrists from where the metal scraped his skin,"You guys seriously suck though." As he finished saying this the guy behind him threw a gold necklace around Jarek's neck and place a crown on his head, both of which were plastic and said "Bachelor" in big letters."You'll still thank us later! All Jarek could do was sigh.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The lumbering SUV pulled in front of the gentlemen's club. Jarek cringed at the name,"Ah 'Bottom's Up' sounds like such a classy place!" As if simultaneously everyone in the car exclaimed,"Shut up!'' Jarek smiled, at least he knew he was starting to get on their nerves. The guys all emptied out of the car and made their way to the strip joint. Bruno took care of the cover charges for everyone. Then the frat boy yelling commenced with the occasional wolf whistle. As Jarek entered the smell of smoke and alcohol stung at his nose making him cringe a bit. His ears were assaulted with the beats of a song about 'booty'. As if that wasn't enough the place was dimly lit with reddish light accents scattered throughout playing with his vision. Exotic dancers moved around on a stage with a few poles scattered on it. Guys and even some girls were throwing money at these dancers. Other scantily clad women roamed the establishment serving their clients with dances.

This was definitely not Jarek's thing.

The guys made their way to a section that had leather seats, all facing different directions in their own zones. Jarek found one that was really away from the group and quickly made his way to it. Bruno and his friends all forgot about Jarek, so maybe once they got drunk enough he would slip away into the night and go home. As he devised a plan he hit a speed bump.

This leggy blonde dressed in a revealing nurse outfit made her way slowly and seductively towards Jarek, she had a predator look about her and he knew he was the prey. He caught the blonde's eyes, something that he had a weakness for. Her eyes were a light green and they were absolutely stunning, even with the dim lighting. That is when things started to get fuzzy. Somehow he heard the blonde purr, "Hey there, darlin'. My name's Pearl, and you must be Jarek. You're friend over there asked me to check you out." She sat on his lap making Jarek a wee bit on the nervous side. For once, Jarek was grateful for Bruno and his maturity level. Pearly leaned forward and seductively said,"Are you feeling a little blue? Let me know whatever I can do to help."

It took every ounce of energy to form some words but he was finally able to sputter out,"I...uh... you...What?"

He shut up pretty quickly when Pearl started to gyrate her hips and work her magic on Jarek's lap. The friction of their bodies touching was turning him on but the thing that was really getting him was her eyes. She was focused on Jarek with an aggressive objective and he couldn't help but fall for her seductions. If he wasn't fuzzy before, he definitely was now. Their lips made contact, Jarek could taste the cherry flavor of her lip gloss. Somehow Jarek got even more fuzzy, increasing the intensity of their kissing. Pearl broke the contact for a second and whispered again,As much fun as this is, gorgeous, I'm wondering if you have anything... else, in mind." She then motioned for a door to what seemed like a side room. Jarek wasn't sure but he thought he saw her bite her lip.

The couple stood up and pearl led the way to the door. She opened it up and turned around continuing the kissing session as they shut the door behind them. This room was a little room that looked like it was designed for private dances with a single couch and pole just a few feet away. Jarek was more focused on the couch. As the couple continued to kiss Pearl backed onto the couch and proceeded to lay out on it pulling Jarek down on top of her. As they kissed Pearl grabbed the bottom of his shirt and began to pull it off him. Jareks abs touched the skin of the blonde, somehow waking him up from the fuzziness. His shirt made it up to his chest when he jumped off the couch and said,"Wait... I...uh... Wow! I've never done this before! Coming to a place like this I mean! "

The blonde sat up, probably wondering what the heck happened. Jarek sat back down on the couch, close to Pearl but not enough to start up another session. He continued,"I'm going to be honest, one, you win the 'Best Kisser' award by a landslide" He smiled, "Two. You are beautiful, like seriously, wow! You don't look fake like many of these other girls. And three, your eyes are just... amazing. Seriously, that is probably what made me get fuzzy in the first place." He paused for a second to see if he was freaking this girl out, which luckily it didn't seem like it so he place his hand on her thigh and continued,"I know Pearl isn't your real name, its your stage name. How about you tell me a secret that reveals your real name? Then maybe we can do something else that doesn't start with sex? I mean like the saying goes, we should probably get dinner first." Jarek winked and waited for the beautiful girl to reply.

He couldn't help but think to himself,"Well, this isn't the best way to pick up a girl..."

James could not sleep, he was walking around his room like a sleep-walker, thinking disturbing thoughts. Where his sister go almost every night? . He also sometimes go at nights, gambling on gambling streets rats or just riding his skateboard. But, his sister was not quite like him, also he did not has the dare to ask her because he was scared to use his empathic powers on her. He is fine with helping her developed her power, but use it on her or on his friends it seems almost....evil. He sigh and gave up sleeping today. He wondered if maybe Chelsea is also awake, and maybe they can have a little night chat. James always liked talking with him because Chelsea might not be empathic but he seems to sense when someone is lying. He also very distant and open up slowly, but James know deep down inside he cares for all the Humanly.

James decided to call him first, it will kinda be rude showing up his place at looks at his watch 3 o'clock in the morning?! James almost yawned when he realized how late it was. Now he got more worried for Barb. He grabbed his cellphone from his desk and looked for Chelsea's number and paused a bit after he dial the number before he pressed send. Should I? he probably sleeping... , but he thinks that if he will tell he is worried about their leader he might softened up. He pressed send and pressed a bit tightly the phone to his ear, waiting for an answer. "C'mon...please be awake...." .

If Chelsea will answer the phone, James will said quickly and apologetic tone, "Chels....sorry, sorry for the late hour, but I gotta talk to you, do you know where my sister, Barbie, is at right now?".

ImageIn all ways imaginable Chelsea was heavily annoyed. Screaming and yelling filled his confined home, which happened to be far from fun. For such a composed man to be indulging in such child like commotion. Could he help it? Probably not. Nothing enraged Chelsea more than his older brother, Nathaniel, who was completely self centered, lazy, and a dumb-ass drunk. "The only thing you can ever do right is drink and stay high," venomous sparks flew from his mouth. Each word sharp and laced with poison that left Nathan cringing. Nathan of course wasn't insulted, he was to busy being afraid that Chelsea might hit him. Chelsea was far from being a violent man, but sometimes he had to put his brother in his place. He couldn't stand how he was always drunk, he couldn't stand the fact he only cared about himself, and he also couldn't stand how he was never in his right mind.

"Please just leave, damn! I can't believe I keep letting you come back here!" Running a hand through his hair he sighed, for he was far from stressed but he sure was upset. "You need to leave, you need to leave now." Taking a deep breath in and then swiftly released it back into the atmosphere he knew he was now calm. Letting his own hand graze through his hair he chuckled. "He's some money, go to the bar and come back when you're too drunk to remember anything." Nathaniel swiftly snatched the money away without a second thought, "You're almost as broke as I am, you're a shitty painter, that's why no one buys from you." With a burp and a belly scratch Nathaniel left the building.

Right as his annoying brother left the phone began to ring. By default Chelsea thought it was Camron so he rushed over to the phone and answered. "He-" His voice was quickly cut off by another mans. "Chels....sorry, sorry for the late hour, but I gotta talk to you, do you know where my sister, Barbie, is at right now?" At first he snarled his nose at the fact he was called Chels, but of course let it slide because there was more important things at hand. "Uh, um, no... Would you like to come over and talk about it?" Normally the other humanlies didn't just come over to his house, but when they asked to he knew it was a big deal. He didn't know where Barbie was, but if James was worried Chelsea was more than happy to help him find her. "I'm pretty sure you know where I live, if not I'll give you direction." Chelsea gave him directions if he needed them by any chance. Shortly he placed the phone back on the receiver then plopped down on his couch.

Stretching out he took in a sharp breath thinking about how odd Barbie would just vanish without giving word to Barbie. The two were family, siblings rather, and extremely close. Chelsea just figured that the two constantly kept each other updated with what they might be doing at all times. At least that's what he typically did with his younger brother whenever he was leaving the house or going somewhere.

When it came to him and Camron they were very close, well as close as someone could be to Chelsea. He wasn't the most open person for reasons beyond himself, yet he still shared something special with Cam. Whenever they were together it never seemed like they could shut up and he always managed to keep Chelsea laughing and grinning from ear to ear. Momentarily he was at a friends house, which was completely ok with Chelsea, mainly because Camron was a functioning adult who should be technically living on his own. At times the thought of making him get his own apartment crossed his mind, but he happened to have a soft spot for his sibling to the point he couldn't make him move.

Of course Enoch comes to Levi's rescue, grabbing him as he fell onto Enoch. Levi knows, in the back of his mind, that they're getting dangerously close, and the drunken part of his mind wants to kiss Enoch. You can't do that Levi, his conscience seems to tease him with that. I could if I wanted to, his drunken thoughts argue with the sober ones.

Enoch is laughing as Levi clumsily leans up against him. β€œGod Levi, you smell like a sewer. Or my uncle Bart.” Levi laughs more than he should, taking deep breaths of air and expelling drunken laughter, like his mouth muscles forgot how to move but the sound still came out. Enoch carefully maneuvers their bodies so that Levi is safely against the wall of the elevator and Enoch is holding him by the arms. "Well you smell like a cat... and rain. Cat rain, you think people would buy that? It's nice." Levi sighs, picking up Enoch's sweater when it hits the ground.

When Enoch holds him against the wall, Levi can see, even in his drunken state, that his emotions are confused. Levi's vision of Enoch starts to go black around the edges when he starts to fall asleep.

β€œLevi man, wake up. Don’t fall asleep, okay? Talk to me. Why on earth did’ya come here?” Levi looks at Enoch with confusion. "Why'd I come here?" Levi has a hard time getting the words to come out of his mouth, and what exactly he's going to say. Even a few hours ago is fuzzy now. "I can't drive. I'm drunk! Silly goose." Levi teases groggily, leaning heavily on Enoch for support, especially with the limp, as he begins to explain more thoroughly, "Jordan lives down the street- you know Jordan- wait, no you don't, Jordan's my boss, anyway- I walked from her place, because I knew you'd save me, you're my knight in shining armor." Levi is giggling and is too drunk to believe his own words, but there's a part of him that believes every single word.

As they walk down to Enoch's apartment, he explains the situation slowly to Levi. β€œMy place is right there, so we’re gonna go there, ok? Now, tell me about your night out. Apparently you had an awesome time.” Levi giggles, and if he wasn't so sloppy, people might just think they're two boys walking home from a good date. If only.

"It was just me and Jordan and Caroline- Jordan's girlfriend- at first but then she invited people and one guy made shots really well so she gave me one. We started a drinking game and I lost. Then I got tired. So, I walked over to HQ. Couldn't figure out how to get that door open, how'd you do that?" Levi looks at Enoch in awe, not realizing he's equating opening an elevator to god-like abilities. They finally make it over to Enoch's apartment, which really isn't that far; unless you have to drag a drunken boy down the street. They are falling over each other until Enoch accidentally steps on one of his famous rescue cats and incites a flurry of hissing and sharp claws. Levi dances out of the way, tripping and falling on the couch.

β€œYou wanna go lay down or do you wanna shower first? I could get you some fresh clothes," Levi looks at Enoch with a dangerously flirty look in his face. "I'll shower if you shower with me." Levi purrs, grabbing Enoch by the shirt collar and pulling him so that Enoch is straddling Levi's waist.

Before he can take one more step, Enoch feels Levi’s firm grasp on his collar, and before he knows it, Levi’s face is an inch away from his. His body is abnormally warm and fits perfectly to his, now even the scent of alcohol seems sweet and alluring to him. Levi’s words send a shiver down Enoch’s spine that makes him shiver discretely, it takes all his strength to not take the offer. Usually, the dark haired boy wouldn’t tease him like that, so this catches him completely off guard. For a second, Enoch just sits there, eyes wide, lips parted, and the weirdest feeling on his stomach. It would be so easy to just lean in and kiss him. One inch, half a second.

But that's the thing. This isn’t something Levi would normally do, but he's drunk. Actually, drunk doesn’t even begin to explain it. Enoch hates it, but knows this is the right thing to do, so he inhales sharply, feeling the warmth of the other male’s body for one more second, then jokingly runs a hand through his hair and fakes an amused laugh. ”Maybe another time, 'kay? It’s late and I’m tired too. Let’s just get you to bed.”

Frustrated but conformed, Enoch takes his time getting up and offering Levi both of his hands.

"Awh, you're no fun, Enoch.” Levi whines, taking both of the boy's hands begrudgingly. They clumsily make their way over to Enoch's bed, the clumsiness mainly in party to Levi. Once his intoxicated body it's the mattress, it is all he can do to mumble out a few words, "Will you at least come cuddle with me?" Levi pouts, batting his eyelashes all innocently. He's curled up in the comforter like a child but continues to stare sleepily at Enoch, who feels his heart warm up a bit at the sight. He groans, but approaches the bed anyway, lifting a tiny portion of the blanket so that he can get in next to Levi. ”You're such a weirdo, kid.”

I better get up first, or this is gonna be real weird in the morning, Enoch thinks happily as he wraps his left arm gently around Levi’s waist and closes his eyes. Levi lets his arm settle on top of Enoch's arm and lets drunken slumber take him.

Malcolm flinched as the needle punctured the inside of his elbow. Nurse Kenneth patted his other arm softly in what Malcolm was sure was supposed to be a reassuring gesture.

"So what have you been up to today, Malcolm?" Kenneth asked.

He paused before answering. "It's test day," he replied simply. Kenneth nodded his understanding, but he clearly already knew. Every so often, usually once every two or three weeks, the doctors and scientists and nurses would spend a whole day solely doing medical tests on him. MRIs, EKGs, blood work, biopsies, whatever they could do to collect data. Once a year, he would get a full-body X-ray, but that had happened a couple months ago. Every possible vital sign in his body was measured to graph any change and compare it to an average, powerless human.

Kenneth pulled the needle out and covered the tiny spot with a cotton ball and a bandaid. "Do you have any plans for the evening?" he asked.

Malcolm shook his head. "I was just going to skip dinner and go to bed early."

"Are you feeling alright?"

"Fine," he lied. "Just tired. I'm not hungry."

Kenneth studied his face for a minute, but he didn't seem to detect the lie. "Alright," he said, "if you're sure."

James sighed in relief as he heard Chelsea's voice on the other side. "Uh, um, no... Would you like to come over and talk about it?" . James smiled and on his talk you could hear his smile over the phone, "Thanks, Chelsea, I will be right there". James took the directions, remembering in his mind, he will not forget it soon. He hang up and grabbed his skateboard and he almost flew outside from the humanly headquarters and into the streets. He jumped on his skateboard and drove on it fast, but he still kept an eye for anything might strange he will notice. James' thoughts were kept on getting Chelsea's home safe and also on his sister's whereabouts. Where could she possibly be? . James did not thought why Chelsea was awake this late, as he was also late and basically being late with worries over anything is a regular matter among their group.

As James brakes on his skateboard in front of Chelsea's house, he pressed on his skateboard to make it jumped into his hands. He approached the front door and he arranged himself, comb his hair with his hands. Anything to not make him look so messy, not that he was worried about his look, he just did not want others to worry about him over his appearance. He than finally knocked on the door and when Chelsea will open the door he will say, "Hey Chelsea, thanks for seeing me...." .

Vanessa really didn't feel like waking up early in the morning and it shows because she hit the snooze button on her phone, at least six times. She rolled over and groaned while slipping out of her cocoon of blankets, basically kicking them off of her. She sat on the edge of her bed with a sigh slipping over her parted lips. Her eyes trailed over towards her phone as she picked it up and looked at the time then sat her phone back down on the nightstand that was beside her bed. She stood up and walked over to her curtains, opening them and letting the minimum amount of sun shine inside of her bedroom.

She went from there and down to the kitchen, where she made herself a small breakfast, consisting of nothing but cereal and milk. Vanessa wasn't usually the one for cooking and she damn sure wasn't about to start now. While sitting at her dining table, she pondered in her mind on what she was going to do today. With another sigh, she got from her seated position and walked over to the sink, rinsing her bowl out then sitting it down in the sink. She made her trek back up the stairs and showered then put on an outfit. She wore black jeans, a plain white t-shirt that was slightly hidden by a leather jacket and leather heel boots to match.

Vanessa couldn't stay in the house all day so she just had to get out and do something, which she did. After driving around for a few minutes, she went and got herself a pedicure and a manicure. When she was done with that, she couldn't help but make her way over towards the local Martial Arts center and sit in on one of the sessions. She was in for a real treat today because they were doing matches the moment she walked in.

"Hello there, Senshi Lu." She said with a smile at the male in his office, overlooking things as they transpired. "Ah, Nessa-son. How you?" He got up from his seat and gave her a hug, which she returned with a smile. "I am good. Just thought I'd slip in for a bit and check up on you." She responded as he chuckled. "Ah, well, thank you. I am doing very good." Lu said then coughed a little afterwards. That made Vanessa frown slightly as she knew of his condition but just didn't want to speak on it.

"Well, mind if I hang around for a bit?" She asked as to which Lu nodded his head. She thanked him then went over towards the weapons and tied her hair up into a ponytail. Vanessa started doing a few weapon tricks then when she was satisfied, she exited the weapons room then said goodbye to her Senshi Lu and went outside, where she sat inside of her car for a few moments before making her drive back to her house.

Image"Wait... I...uh... Wow! I've never done this before! Coming to a place like this I mean!"

Barbie smirks, sitting up from their playful battle of mouths and hands. Jarek adjusts his position on the couch, sitting close to her, but not too close, like being in her vicinity would make his manhood act of its own accord. Honestly, Jarek as a whole is just... cute.

Not a usual adjective in Bottom's Up.

"I noticed. You were the only one not making googly eyes at one of the dancers." Barbie comments, leaning against the comfortable back of the loveseat. She doesn't want him to think that she's not paying attention, but a bit of alcohol would be good for the both of them now, and her eyes ogle the bar behind him. "I'm going to be honest, one, you win the 'Best Kisser' award by a landslide," that makes her stop, and focus on him. Before she can help it, a blush colors her cheeks. "Two. You are beautiful, like seriously, wow! You don't look fake like many of these other girls. And three, your eyes are just... amazing. Seriously, that is probably what made me get fuzzy in the first place."

Barbie doesn't know whether to laugh or get offended because he insulted her coworkers. She decides against both, giving Jarek a pearly smile, the reason for her namesake.

Then he places his hand on her thigh, and for a moment, she thinks they're about to get at it again, but he starts talking.

"I know Pearl isn't your real name, its your stage name. How about you tell me a secret that reveals your real name? Then maybe we can do something else that doesn't start with sex? I mean like the saying goes, we should probably get dinner first." Jarek is quick and flirty with his words, placing a wink after a suggestion of dinner.

Did he really wink? Barbie thinks, laughing in her head.

"Listen, babe, you're cute and all, and I'm a sucker for guys like you, but I don't give out personal information. But, I can make you an offer. If you make the effort to come around here again Monday, seven o'clock, I will take you up on dinner. If not, then I'm sure your friend can find another busty, green-eyed blonde who may or may not be a stripper like me." Barbie sets him straight, leaving him with a kiss on the cheek and a bottle of beer from the bar. "See ya, handsome."

When Barbie walks out, she sets her course on the dressing room rather than one of the bachelor party boys in need of a stripper. On the way over, the main one grabs her by the arm. "Hey gorgeous," He reeks of alcohol and almost burps in her face, "How'd it go with Jarek?" Barbie looks at him, disgusted with his state, but replies, "Your friend needs to learn how to not ask strippers on a date."

"So you didn't fuck him? I may take you for myself. We had fun last time."

"If you call two minutes of panting before you pulled out fucking. No, I'm done for the night, but thanks for the offer." Barbie digs her nails into his arm and yanks it off of her own. Emily watches in shock as Barbie goes into the dressing room without another word.

She sits at her mirror, letting the lights bathe her in warmth. Jarek's words remind her of Adelaide, her Lemonade. She's gone Barbie, get the hell over her! No matter how many times she tries to, Barbie's heart is still full and unmending.

Barbie shakes the thought from her head, and tells Sherida that she can't work the rest of the party, too much alcohol makes Barbie nauseous. Sherida knows it's bullshit, but it's a legitimate reason if the other owner asks why Barbie was only here for two hours.

Now, what to do until I want to go home, Barbie thinks as she changes into a flannel and jeans. The only place she can go at this hour is a local bar.

Perfect.

The bar is packed with just-turned-21 partiers and underagers alike, and it makes Barbie smile. These are the kind of people she wants to be around right now. Not to bore anyone with details, but Barbie did get a little drunk, and had a little bedroom fun with a little brunette who was definitely twenty but used the same fake she's had since she was seventeen. She also got the number from the brunette, named Hannah, but she definitely wouldn't be calling.

It's only two when Barbie leaves the bar, and she, by instinct, drives to Humanly headquarters. It looks like someone has been around recently, but she knows Enoch likes to be here late. She does the usual tango with the elevator and makes it over to her "office", which is a room at the end of the hallway with her strategies and plans and everything a First needs to function. She flops on the couch and falls into a deep slumber, which is interrupted by a call from Elli, asking if she called James that night. Barbie usually calls James when she's going to be working, using Ellie and the political business as a cover, but tonight, she'd gone in early, and totally forgot. Shit, he's probably freaking out, Barbie mentally punishes herself and pulls out her phone as she's making her way upstairs to her car.

Image"Hey Jamie, it's Barbie. I'm heading back from Ellie's office. I forgot to tell you that he needed help with the election coming up, so he took me to dinner and then we went to the office. That boy knows his wine brands, I'll tell you what. I know it's really late, like, five in the morning, but I stopped at HQ and I'll be back at the apartment in ten. Love you Jam, stay safe." She puts her cell phone up and pulls out of the parking garage.

Enoch rubbed his eyes softly, confused, lifting his head from the pillow. The room was bathed in a rosy light and a certain brown haired boy was laying next to him, his hand felt warm on his arm. He had been so tired last night, and had slept so little it took him a few seconds to remember how Levi had ended up in his bed and for Christ's sake what was this light? When it all came back to him, Enoch smiled lightly and, after discretely scooting closer to Levi, sighed tiredly and got up as delicately and silently as he could. He felt sorry for Levi, cause well, if he was feeling so trashed as he was, just imagining Levi's hangover made his head hurt. So he closed his window and left the room, heading down to the kitchen.

And suddenly he remembered he hadn't eaten anything in... ages. Probably yesterday's lunch or something. Still dragging his feet and yawning, he searched the kitchen for anything at all that could stop the growling in his stomach, but the only thing he did find was Mr. Crumbles half asleep under the stove. The small white cat did nothing but purr loudly and squint at Enoch when he laid down on the floor and stretched his arm to catch him.

"I'm hungry, Crumbles. You got some food? We could share." He mumbled, his voice still hoarse from sleep, holding the cat above his face while laying on his back. The cat meowed lowly with a bored look on his face. "Well I always give you food you little brat. Guess I'll go get some. Will you watch Levi for me?" As if to he intended to turn down Enoch, Mr. Crumbles suddenly began writhing furiously and left running to hide under the couch. Sometimes, Enoch wish he had dogs.

Getting up from the floor, he thought of Levi sleeping soundly on his bed and decided to leave him a note, just in case he woke up and couldn't remember what he was doing there or wonder where Enoch was.

"Good morning, drunkie! Hope you slept well. I'm surprised you're up so
early, but I guess booze will do that to ya. I woke up hungry as fuck so
I just ran to the store real quick to get us some breakfast but I'll be back
in 15 minutes tops. There's aspirin on my bedside table and some cranberry
juice on the fridge. Be my guest.
PS.: You look cute when you're asleep. Although you drool a little.

He entered the room once more and left the small note on his pillow before leaving the house. The sun was just now rising in the sky, turning the sky a pinkish orange color, and the air was filled with morning dew and the smell of rain from the previous night. Enoch could walk to the nearest convenience store easily, but his legs felt tired and his head impossibly heavy. Maybe he should have taken one of those aspirins after all. As he walked down the wet sidewalk, he though a bit of the night before. He was happy Levi found his way to him, actually. Enoch was never one to worry much, he saw no point to it, but it was somehow important for him that Levi be fine, always. More than anyone - and that included Barbie and James - he felt like Levi needed protection. Then his thoughts shifted to Barbie and James, and whatever those two were doing a few hours ago. Probably Barbara was out with Elli, doing whatever. Although Enoch wasn't Elli's biggest fan, he somewhat trusted him, especially with Barbie. It was probably the way he looked at her. He could never harm her, really. But James might not be as trusting. He pictured him playing around with Hawk, he too wondering what his sister was doing. Funny thing, Enoch thought, how those two worried about each other so much, and yet both had so much potential to defend themselves. But really, it must just be a siblings thing. In a way, Enoch knew how they felt, especially Barbie. To love someone so deeply the possibility of losing them drives you crazy.

At the convenience store, Enoch bought two large cups of black coffee, some much needed energy drinks for later, two cereal cups, milk, dried fruit and three small bars of chocolate to get some fat in Levi's body, then rushed home. God he was hungry. And tired. And somewhat frustrated, for whatever reason. He hoped with a burning passion they'd have a day off today and he'd be able to come to HQ just at night again. He entered his apartment silently, hoping to not wake Levi up if he was still asleep. Maybe even he might get some more sleep... He sipped at his coffee, which was already a little cold, trying not to shiver at the idea of getting back in bed with the other man.

Dialogueβ€” #9E0010

Adele's peaceful dreams had turned into nightmares as of the last couple of nights. She used to have them all the time right after her mother was tortured and murdered, but they had stopped ever since she was adopted by the government and given special treatment for them.

Her nightmares weren't about her mom as they used to be in the past; now she dreamed about a blonde girl, whose name was never mentioned throughout her sleep, and how Adele couldn't reach for her hand while said blonde hung off a building's edge. Her nightmare usually ended abruptly when the girl finally couldn't hold on any longer and fell to her death. Adele usually woke up sweating and slightly breathless with a sinking feeling in her chest, like she had truly lost a loved one in that horrible way. But as hard as Adele tried, she couldn't remember seeing the blonde girl before, and it didn't help how in her nightmares the blonde always had a fuzzy and undistinguishable face.

After waking up from her now recurring nightmare at 5:00 AM, Adele gave up on trying to sleep for much longer and decided to get up from her bed and shower. Ever since she had been taken by the government years ago, she lived in the Mutant Project facility. She had been given her own room with a decently sized bed, a desk, a dresser, a very comfy sofa she fell in love with and her own private bathroom and shower. She wasn't allowed to go outside much, so she usually spent most of her free time inside her room or exploring the facility trying not to get caught by any guards.

After her shower, Adele decided to dress up and try to sneak out of the facility to go grab a cup of coffee. One of the things she missed the most about the outside where donuts and coffee. Sure, they had some in the facility but they just didn't compare to the ones outside. And so Adele sneakily ran past guards and unlocked doors with a stolen ID to finally find herself standing a few meters outside of the grey building. Sometimes sneaking out felt too easy, like the people working there didn't mind her wandering off, but she never thought about it much and decided to concentrate on other things instead.

The Mutant Project facility was located just fifteen minutes outside of the District of Columbia, but Adele would probably spend twenty to twenty five minutes walking to the city since she didn't have a car herself.

As Adele walked past farms and gas stations on her way to the city, her mind wandered off to the blonde from her dreams. Who was she and why had Adele been dreaming about her so much lately?
