Personality, in the eyes of the public:
Scout is seen as a well-mannered adult, who would much rather pick peace over violence, which is somewhat true. If it were his choice, he certainly would not be fighting with 11 other young people for the title of winner. The game as a whole disgusts him, but he really has no choice in the matter. He wishes to return to his family but he would hate to have to take the life of another person, and so he is conflicted quite a bit. Whenever he does choose to speak, which is only on a rare occasion, he is soft-spoken and gentle with his words. It takes quite a bit of prodding to make him angry, yet he is remarkably stubborn when being forced to do something. He is modest, humble and is always up for lending a helping hand to those who need him, making him a much-loved tribute to the audience.
Personality, in reality:
Deep down, what the public does not see is that Scout is holding back a lot of past emotions. Though he is not completely emotionless, he has a hard time accepting the emotions of other people. His childhood was not so bad as to be traumatic, but it certainly put a big strain on him and ultimately changed the man he would become; the man we see now. He was not bullied through his education and his parents weren't so much physically abusive as verbally abusive. He was able to make it through those years by the skin of his teeth, and after it all he was relieved to know that he would no longer have to live with his parents or go to school. He let loose at last, and he was happy. However, and I won't go into too much detail here, his marriage collapsed not long after his 26th birthday and he was forced to move out after the divorce was final, leaving his small boy in the custody of his ex wife. He didn't kick up much of a fuss and left with his head down; not a single word was spoken by him that day, and that is when he changed completely. Instead of the happy young man that District 8 had come to love, he was then seen as emotionally damaged, anti-social and you'd be damn lucky if you got a word out of him. And while he still shows a lot of the qualities that he held as a child, teen and young adult, they all know he is not and will never be the same.
Skills:
- Quick and nimble - His speed is quite remarkable, as well as the distance he can run at any given time.
- Stealthy and silent - Scout has the ability to move around an area without making a sound, as well as being able to hide and camouflage himself in the oddest of places.
- Fighting back - While Ryker's strength does not match up to his speed or stealth, he isn't considered weak and can fight back if need be.
- Climbing - He can scale large trees or incredibly steep hills in order to hide or get away from someone.
Flaws:
- Women - Not in a romantic sense; he cannot and will not bring himself to physically/verbally abuse a woman.
- Most weaponry - While he can handle a dagger or something small like that, he has not had much training so he has no experience with weaponry.
- Large animals - He's absolutely terrified of them and will flee if one is spotted in his area. Birds, rodents and domestic animals are okay.
- Low threshold for pain - Small cuts, scrapes and bruises are fine, but if greatly injured then he's practically useless to anyone.
Weapon of choice: Mainly his fists, but he'll use anything he can find around him to fight with.
